A/N: What's this? An update? I can't be seeing properly. This can't be an update for Nano Effect: The Geth Crysis can it?

Yes you are seeing properly. Sorry it took so long but I just didn't have the motivation for any writing until recently when I went on vacation. Anyway it's here now and without further ado onward with Chapter 14 of NE:TGC!

CryNet Phantom operative designation Wraith

Current assignment: SSV Normandy SR1. Aide to Lt. Com. Shepard, Spectre

Current Location: SSV Normandy SR1, Operative Wraith's Office.

Current Time: January 14th 03:14

The Normandy made straight for the Citadel after dealing with Cerberus on Nepheron. It was during the flight there that I experienced Shepard's unrelenting resolve first hand. She came barging into my office an hour after leaving Nepheron demanding that I get some rest. I gave up any attempt at resistance as she made it extremely clear to me that CARLA could handle anything that came up and that she would knock me out if she had to.

That sleep turned out to be a thirty hour hibernation and I woke up asthe Normandy leftthe Citadel for Feros, as Shepard had received information that the geth were attacking the colony. I spent most of the flight going through all of CryTell's information on Feros in prepfor the pre-mission briefing. I was actually the last one to arrive as I had gotten side tracked by a little nugget of information that I had found right before the briefing was supposed to start.

My tardiness was not missed on Shepard who immediately commented on it. "So sleeping beauty arrives at last. I almost thought you had decided to sleep for another day."

I snorted in amusement. "Yeah right. You know that was just a side effect of the Symbiosis."

"Yeah, because you decided to stay up for a few days without sleep." Shepard said seriously.

I shrugged. "I was busy."

"Busy?" Kaidan asked me puzzled. "You can't have that much to do as an Operative. We've had plenty of downtime between missions."

"I was going through a lot of intel and submitting reports to CryNet." I said smoothly, not technically lying, as I did go through intel and submitted a few reports alongside all my other duties as Director.

Shepard shook her head before changing the subject. "Anyway, let's get this briefing going." She said bringing up a hologram of Feros along with important information. "This is Feros, the site of our next mission. We recently learned that the geth have attacked the colony there and our mission is to find out why. Feros has one tiny colony, Zhu's Hope, and the main Exogeni facility there. Zhu's Hope was founded by Exogeni in order to pave the way for further exploration of the Prothean ruins there. Again, we don't know why the geth decided to attack but since the colony is so small I would suspect that there is something else there that hasn't been made public. Any ideas?"

Liara was the first to answer. "I know most Prothean technology on Feros has alreadybeen taken by looters or other archeologists before now. "It's likely Saren found a clue about the Conduit that led him to Feros."

Ashley snorted "Well that's kind of obvious. I doubt the geth would attack such a small colony just for the hell of it."

"It might be intended as a distraction, turn our attention away from whatever they are really doing somewhere else." Garrus mused.

Wrex shook his head. "Nah. Why attack such a small colony for a distraction? No, they would have hit a larger colony to draw the publicity of a big attack."

"Unless they didn't have the capability to hit a larger colony." Ashley countered.

"There's still plenty other, larger, colonies that would be well within their capability. They did a good job trashing up Eden Prime remember?" Kaidan retorted.

"What do you think Commander?" Ashley asked.

Shepard thought for a minute before answering. "I agree with Wrex. Feros is too small a colony to act as a proper distraction. No, the geth know something that we don't and that's what we have to find out."

"I found some interesting intel just before the briefing." I said drawing Shepard's attention. "A shipping manifest that we recovered from Nepheron stated that they picked up various crates of 'Thorian creepers' on Feros before taking them to Binthu for testing. I did a bit of research and those 'creepers' are those zombie things I encountered there. I also got some information leading to the Matano system in the Maroon Sea cluster. I've already sent it to CryNet for investigation."

"Interesting. We have Cerberus ties to Exogeni, and Zombies that come from Feros." Shepard mused before letting out a dry chuckle, "This keeps getting better and better."

"So what's the plan commander?" Kaidan asked.

"We're all going in on this mission. All intel reports the colony of Zhu's Hope is still holding out so we're going to meet up with them and secure the area. From there we'll see what the situation is before making our next move. Alright? Any questions? No? Then Dismissed. I want you all geared up and ready to go by the airlock by the time we dock at the colony."

Once I had returned to my office I immediately began kitting myself out for the mission. Since we were going up against geth I left all my stealth gear behind as they would be next to useless against the geth. While they couldn't see me while cloaked they would immediately know if one of their units would get 'killed', couple that with their advanced sensors that would be able to trace shots to their origin and I had an enemy that rendered the entire point of suppressed weapons moot. Instead I went for hit-and-run gear. I replaced the barrel to my SCAR with a shorter version to allow for better maneuverability, attached a recoil damper to increase its rate of fire, and finally slid a fast cooling heatsink into place before slinging the SCAR into place on my back.

Up next was my DSG-1, this time I went about modifying it to hit like a like a cannonby inserting a Hyper Velocity Overcharger. Bydrastically increasing the muzzlevelocity more damage and better penetration power could be achieved at the cost of increased heat generation. Couple that with a barrel extensionand I would only be firing one shot. However, I could insert a rapid cooldown heat sink so that I could fire faster. Keeping the normal heat sink in I'dhave the possibility of a second shot or byputting in a high capacity sink I'd have a possible three shots. However, I preferred to have the reliable one shot followed by a fairly short cool down period. Once I attached a bipod underneath the barrel I was done with that and slid it home, on my shoulder, opposite to my SCAR.

My Nova stayed relatively unchanged, as I only removed the suppressor in favor of its regular, supersonic firing mechanism.

I had a little trouble deciding on my last weapon. I figured that taking a K-Volt would be useful against the geth and any possible 'creepers' that we might run across but it might be better to have a shotgun for close quarters combat. I finally decided on taking my Leopard shotgun as I would have to carry around ammo for the K-Volt and it would be extremely unlikely that I could find ammo for the thing in the field, as once I ran out of batteries the thing would become dead weight.

All set, I left my office and went down to the cargo bay to quickly pick up a couple of grenades. I ran into Ashley there who quickly handed me two frag grenades and a flash bang. Completely suited up I went up to the airlock with Ashley, Garrus, Kaidan, Wrex and Tali who were ready as well. We arrived on the bridge right as Joker brought the Normandy into dock at Zhu's Hope. Shepard immediately led the squad off the ship as I initiated the squad's VI link.

GHOST VI link engaged.

Phantom Operative Wraith.

Almost immediately upon leaving the ship we were confronted by a colonist who was waiting for us. As we approached him, he immediately started talking. "We saw your ship. Fai-Dan wants to speak with you immediately."

"Who's Fai-Dan?" Shepard asked.

"Our leader. He wants to speak with you right away." The colonist repeated.

"What's so important that can't wait?" Shepard wanted to know.

"The geth are making another push. Fai-Dan is preparing our defenses and needs your help. Please, up the stairs and past the freighter." At that moment I saw a geth shock trooper appear right behind him and aim his weapon at the colonist's back.

"Look out!" I shouted diving forward and knocking the colonist down as a rocket flew through the space he had occupied just a moment earlier. Dragging the colonist behind cover I drew my SCAR and started helping the others clear out the geth. Shepard and Wrex had immediately charged forward into the midst of the group while Ashley and Garrus were taking potshots at various get troops with their rifles. Liara, Kaidan, and Tali had teamed up and were providing support to whoever needed it.

Seeing an opening, I vaulted over a low wall and sprinted towards the group of geth. Sliding I unleashed a fast burst from my SCAR, my rapid fire mod releasing a hail of tungsten at the unfortunate geth. Its shields were stripped within moments allowing my fire to perforate its body causing it to fall to the floor. Rolling forward I let another burst loose at a shock trooper only to have to stop as my SCAR overheated due to the rapid cooldown heatsink. Not missing a beat I ducked below his shotgun blast and kicked him off the walkway to fall to its death. Now finding myself at the back of the geth group I spun around and sighted my SCAR at a sniper that was turning towards me. I released another burst from my cooling weapon which tore through the snipers weak shielding and removed its head.

By that time the rest of the squad had taken care of the rest of the geth allowing us to take a breather.

"Well that was fun." I said "Nothing like taking down a couple of synthetic rogues."

"You know, you're also slightly synthetic with your suit." Shepard commented.

"Technically, its semi-organic." I responded smirking.

"Yeah, yeah. Details." Shepard said shaking her head. "Wait, where's that colonist?" She asked suddenly, looking around.

I turned to look where I had left him, craning my head to try and see where he was. Garrus, who was closest, crossed over to where the colonist had been and knelt down for a moment, doing something that I couldn't see before standing up, a somber expression on his face. "He's dead commander. Stray shot must have hit him."

I shrugged. "Oh well. Can't do anything about that now."

"Unfortunately he's right." Shepard sighed. "We have to move on, hopefully prevent more deaths like that."

The way up to the colony passed quietly, the geth not deigning to show their flashlight heads as we carefully made our way up the stairs from the docking bay. A loud shout greeted our arrival at the Colony. "Reinforcements! The heart is saved!"

The heart? "Do any of you know what he's talking about?" I asked over a private channel.

"I was about to ask the same thing." Shepard responded.

"Maybe they call the colony the heart?" Ashley suggested. "They were obviously relieved by our arrival."

"I can't help but feel like something is off." I muttered.

Shepard snorted softly, "You always feel like something is off."

"Usually because something is," I retorted. "Just look at them. They aren't behaving like normal people."

"Yeah, well I don't think that this counts as a normal situation for them here. It's not like being invaded by the geth is common now is it?" Kaidan asked.

"That's just the point." I said examining the colonists closely. "They aren't reacting like normal people would upon being invaded by the geth."

"You're a psychologist now?" Liara asked me.

I chuckled. "No, but the suit can give me quite a bit of information on stuff like this. For instance, SECOND isn't picking up any of the normal signs of fear induced stress. They are too calm."

Garrus nodded. "He does have a point."

Shepard gave me a glance "Well, let's go talk to this Fai Dan. Hopefully he can give us some answers."

As we walked through the colony I began to pick up more and more anomalies. All colonists seemed hell bent on getting us to talk to Fai Dan. Reminding us as we walked past them, always talking in a calm monotone voice, seemingly unconcerned with the geth.

It was extremely unnerving. Even normal soldiers wouldn't be acting like this. I glanced to the side, looking at a colonist who was working on a computer with an unnatural single minded intensity, not looking up as we passed him. "SECOND." I said quietly, making sure to not broadcast to the rest of the squad. "Do a full scan of the area and colonists. Try and figure out what's going on here."

Immediately, tons of information began appearing on my HUD as my suit began its study. I kept an eye on the text, scrolling down my HUD. Within a few seconds my suit had a detailed report, ranging from atmospheric composition and humidity to detailed scans of the colonists. I ignored everything except for the colonist scans, which told me what I already knew. Something was wrong with them. The hormone level scans, brainwave scans, even muscle scans, were way off.

"Fai Dan?" Shepard's voice interrupted my study of the scans. Turning my attention from my scans I saw a man and a woman standing infront of me. My suit immediately identified the two as Fai Dan and Arcelia Silvia Martinez. "I'm Commander Shepard. Council Spectre."

Fai Dan's face lit up as he regarded us "Commander! I am so glad that they finally sent somebody to help us." I was actually a bit surprised when Fai Dan actually showed some emotion, he actually looked worn out, like he'd been fighting for survival.

Martinez also showed more emotion than most of the colonists when she snidely asked, "You're a bit late aren't you?"

"Arcelia!" Fai Dan admonished before turning back to us "Sorry Commander. Everyone's been wound up tight since-"

Movement from behind him drew my attention as I saw geth poke their heads out of the tower from behind him. "Look out!" I shouted stepping forward, pushing Fai Dan to the side while grabbing my SCAR and bringing it to bear against the geth.

"Maximum Armor."

I pulled the trigger on my SCAR sending supersonic tungsten into the first geth out the door. At the same time as my first rounds impacted on its shield the geth all opened fire. My aim was thrown off for a moment as the geth shots impacted on my armor. Compensating for the impacts I stabilized my rifle long enough to be able to finish off the geth that I had picked out. By now I started hearing more fire from behind and to my sides as the rest of the squad reacted.

Throwing myself to the side I rolled behind a barrel to allow my energy to recharge from being almost depleted. Quickly checking my suit HUD I was able to see how the squad had spread out, as they engaged the geth pouring out of the targets. Glancing at where the tower entrance through the barrel was I was able to see little red triangles that marked hostiles appear and then vanish as the squad's GHOST armor tracked them until they're elimination.

The moment my energy reserves were filled again I glanced across at Shepard and Wrex who were picking off geth with their assault rifles. "Shepard! Wrex!" I shouted over the comm "We gotta push up."

I watched as Shepard paused for a moment in her assault as she dropped back behind cover and glanced over at me "You thinking what I'm thinking?" I could almost hear the grin in her question as she holstered her rifle and drew her shotgun.

A deep chuckle was heard from Wrex, "I certainly hope that we are."

"Wrex, Wraith, with me. The rest of you, cover us. But don't you dare hit us or I'll throw you out the airlock myself." Shepard ordered and a moment later she vaulted out of cover, before vanishing in a blue blur, midair. An accompanying roar sounded from Wrex who did the same as I ducked around the barrel I was hiding behind and began charging as fast as my suit would let me at the geth.

"Maximum Power."

I crossed the distance to the geth within a second and smashed straight into a geth unit sending it crashing to the ground below me. My Leopard barked as it sent shards of tungsten into the downed geth at point blank. In the same move, I rolled forward off the now dead geth so that I found myself behind a shock trooper which was immediately blasted by my shotgun. My first blast shredded its shields and inflicted minor damage on its body while my second blasted a hole in its chest.

A blue flare drew my attention as I saw Shepard hook two geth with her biotics and send them past her. She took the first out with her own shotgun as it hurtled past. Seizing my chance as it flew past me I grabbed it by the foot and spinning around, sent it flying straight through the tower entrance, bowling over a geth trying to get through. Reaching down I grabbed a frag grenade, primed it and tossed it through the door after the improvised bowling ball.

I stumbled as I felt a massive weight descend on my back and the robotic hands of a geth closed around my throat, trying to strangle me. Unfortunately for the geth, my suit was able to resist its strangulation attempts and I quickly grabbed one of the arms and threw the geth over my shoulder to land on its back infront of me. Raising my fist in the air I brought it smashing down on the head of the geth, flattening it with a loud clang.

"Move up! Into the tower!" Shepard's orders came barking through the comm as I looked up to see Shepard and Wrex entering the tower. Quickly raising my shotgun I followed them through. The remains of what looked like four or so geth littered the floor, having been blasted apart by my grenade. Shepard and Wrex were further down the hall, firing up a staircase too the side.

I sprinted towards the two when Shepard flared blue again and a single geth came flying down the stairs. Dropping into a slide I went underneath the suspended geth, firing up into its body as I passed underneath. Ending my slide, I pressed myself against the wall beside Shepard who was firing around the corner up the stairs again. Glancing back I saw the rest of the squad enter the tower behind me.

"You can't resist showing off can you?" I turned to look at Shepard who was now no longer shooting up around the corner. I shrugged as Shepard began barking out orders. "Tali, Kaidan I want overloads on my signal. After the overloads I want you to start heading up the stairs. Wrex. Wraith, Ashley, Garrus and I will follow up behind you providing covering fire. Once we start moving up I want Liara, Tali and Kaidan to provide us with tech and Biotic support. Overloads on my mark."

I drew my SCAR as Kaidan and Tali immediately moved up behind Wrex on the opposite side of the stairs, preparing their omni-tools. "Go! Go! Go!" Kaidan and Tali jumped forward, letting loose two bursts from their omni-tools resulting in a shower of sparks from up the stairs. A moment later and Wrex jumped out and began lumbering up the stairs. Shepard and I immediately followed him and we were joined by Ashley and Garrus. My SCAR immediately released a burst of tungsten as I sighted a geth, spasming at the top of the stairs, electricity still coursing through its body. By the time the geth had fallen to the floor, Kaidan, Liara and Tali had come up behind us so that we formed a diamond, going up the stairs.

Our formation tore through the geth as we went charging up the stairs. The geth quickly began falling back up the tower as they realized that they couldn't stand up against us so the final few flights passed without combat. When we finally reached the top of the tower we began piling up on either side of the door, preparing to rush through and clear out the remaining geth.

Giving me a quick nod, Shepard motioned Wrex forward into the room. Following right after him. A moment later I charged through the door only to be met by a hail of shots forcing me down. The split second it took for me to drop to the floor was enough for the suit to see exactly what it was that was firing at us. A massive geth platform that SECOND quickly identified as a Prime unit was pinning us all down with a hail of tungsten from a massive minigun.

"Wraith!" I looked over and saw Shepard crouched behind a similar piece of cover near me and Wrex in a similar position further in. "Do you have any way of dealing with that?" Shepard called out over the thundering sound of the minigun.

Glancing out at the prime I felt a grin creep on my face as I got an idea. "Yeah! Toss me your Marshall and throw me!"

Shepard stared at me in astonishment "You're mad!"

"My sanity is not important right now! Just throw me! I know what I'm doing."

Shepard shook her head in disbelief before tossing me her shotgun. "I sure hope so. Ready?"

I caught the Marshall, cocking it once before nodding. "Yup!"

A moment and a shake of Shepard's head later, Shepard glowed blue and suddenly I felt myself being lifted off the ground and quickly thrown towards the Prime. I was expecting Shepard to throw me clear over the Prime, a similar feat I've seen Shepard do many a time with geth. Unfortunately I was sorely disappointed as instead of sailing over the Prime I quickly realized that I was heading to land directly ontop of the hulking geth platform. Quickly repositioning, I let loose a blast from the Marshall. The Prime's shields flared brightly as the shots impacted, moments before I smashed into the geth. I could instantly feel the geth reacting, servos moving as it compensated for my sudden impact.

Before it had a chance to do much more than stabilize itself I pressed the barrel of the Marshall right into its chest and pulled the trigger. The shotgun barked as the tungsten blasted its way through the heavy armor of the prime, that while formidable, was not quite strong enough to withstand the blast of a Marshall at point blank range. A second blast sounded as I pulled the trigger again. This time, the tungsten did not have to tear through the armor and it shredded whatever the armor was protecting, sending white liquid spraying out.

I felt the Prime freeze from the blast, and took the opportunity to press the Marshal right up against the head of the Prime and pull the trigger. This time the Prime immediately began falling to the floor as its head exploded. Jumping off of the Prime I landed in time to see the prime crash onto the ground. I didn't take the time to admire my handiwork however, as I immediately rolled backward, cloaking halfway through the roll, to avoid the shots coming from the other geth still in the room.

Even before I had fully come out of my roll however, the rest of the squad had come out and were filling the remainder of the geth with tungsten. "Not quite what I had in mind." I muttered quietly as I regarded the fallen geth prime. "But it worked well enough."

"Tower cleared." Shepard said, turning to head back from where we came "Let's go tell Fai Dan."

"Right." I muttered following her.

Fai Dan was most grateful when we made it back to him. "The tower is secure, thanks to you Commander."

"You are welcome, but it was a trivial matter." Shepard informed him.

"Then I am very glad to have you on our side."

"They may have been slowed, but they'll be back... They always come back." Arcelia muttered.

Shepard nodded in reluctant agreement. "That is true. But what do they want? Why are they attacking you?"

"If you want answers, go ask them yourselves." Arcelia snapped, causing me to narrow my eyes at her.

"Contrary to popular belief, I highly doubt that the geth would be trying to kill you without another reason. There has to be something of interest to Saren here or they wouldn't have arrived here in the first place." I told them.

Fai Dan shrugged and shook his head "We don't know what they want. They came and attacked us. That's all we know. I believe that their main base is at the ExoGeni headquarters. A good a place as any to start looking if you want answers."

I narrowed my eyes at Fai Dan, My suit had picked up all kinds of strange behavioral anomalies coming from him, yet they didn't seem consistent with that of a person lying. I got some signals coming from him, indicating that he was lying, yet at the same time I got signals saying that he was telling the truth. It was very perplexing.

I returned my attention to the conversation just in time to hear Arcelia and Fai-Dan answer Shepard's question on how to get to the exo-geni headquarters.

"Don't worry about the geth between here and their headquarters. We can deal with them. In the mean time however, what do you need to get this place up and running?" Shepard asked.

"We need the geth gone."

"Arcelia is right." Fai-Dan acknowledged. There are still geth in the tunnels. Not to mention the more mundane problems like food, water and power. You should however ask the people overseeing them to find out more."

Shepard nodded thoughtfully "Alright. I can't take many with me in the Mako, so I can leave the rest of you here to help you deal with those problems."

Fai-Dan nodded in agreement "That would be wonderful Commander. And if I may ask, would you please stay here while the others go out, mister. ..." He asked looking at me.

"Wraith. CryNet Phantom Wraith." I introduced myself before nodding in acceptance "That would be fine. I can help repel any assaults that may happen while you lot are gone."

Shepard hesitated for a few moments, before nodding reluctantly. "Very well. Wraith you will stay here and repel any assaults. I suppose you are best suited for doing so by yourself."

"Then it's settled." Fai-Dan clapped his hands together. "We are most grateful for your assistance Commander."

"No problem." Shepard said giving him a nod before turning to Liara, Tali, Ashley and Kaidan. "I want you four to stay here and get this colony operational again. Wraith you will stay here and help defend against any geth attacks while Wrex, Garrus and I head on to find out what the geth are so interested in."

"Sounds good. I'll provide you with sniper support while you're still in range." I said, grabbing my DSG from my back, the barrel extending from its stored position. "Let's get to killing geth."

"We'll head on to see what other aid the colony needs." Kaidan said, taking charge of the second squad.

Shepard nodded "Alright, good hunting all of you. May the best team kill the most synthetic fuckers."

Ashley laughed as we parted ways "You're on Skipper."

"Not quite equal teams are they." I mused.

"If you want to give up now, feel free." Garrus taunted me as we entered the elevator that would take us to the skybridge.

"Why would I give up?" I asked "Obviously the odds are stacked in my favor."

"Hah, keep dreaming tin man." Shepard laughed.

"Yeah, yeah." I chuckled "If you're quite done insulting me you will find that we have arrived at your floor."

"So we have." Shepard hesitated as Garrus and Wrex exited the elevator before saying quietly. "Just watch yourself. I have a bad feeling about this place."

I nodded in agreement. "I know, I do as well. Getting anomalies all over the place. But don't worry, I can handle it."

"Just don't be arrogant." She chastised as she backed out of the elevator.

I chuckled and before the doors closed, said "It's not arrogance if it's true."

Another short elevator ride later found me arriving at my chosen sniper nest. It was a half destroyed room, about fifty meters above the skybridge, giving me a perfect view of the entirety of the skybridge. The walls of the room were almost completely gone, allowing me to lie down and extend the bipod on my scope and prop it on the ground.

Using my suit visor, I studied the skybridge carefully, noting the terrain along with any possible geth hiding places. A flicker of movement drew my attention right below me and when I looked down I saw a mako driving out from the building. I was soon greeted with a portrait of Shepard on the corner of my vision as I opened a channel to her. "Sable one, Wraith. I am in position. Skybridge looks clear."

"Copy that Wraith. Proceeding onward."

"Warning: Incoming geth dropship."

"Sable one watch out. Incoming dropship." I said, quickly peering through the scope of my sniper and a moment later it started dropping geth down onto the skybridge infront of the mako which immediately did a sharp turn to avoid a rocket that was fired from one of the newly dropped geth.

Immediately I lined up a shot on the geth that had fired the rocket and pulled the trigger. The DSG-1 in my hands cracked loudly as it sent a hypersonic piece of tungsten downrange. An instant later the geth's shields flared up as they tried, and failed to stop the tungsten from impacting straight into the optical sensor of the geth, sending it tumbling to the ground.

A second blast sounded as the mako's main cannon fired in the midst of another group of geth. A moment later the chattering of the mako's coaxial machine gun burst to life, mowing down another few geth. Two seconds later my sniper rifle barked again and another geth fell to the ground, headless.

And so it continued, the mako able to take down groups of geth simultaneously with cannon and machine gun roaring loudly, while I was able to take down high priority targetsarmed with rockets or other anti-vehicle weapons with the sharp crack of my DSG-1. The suit constantly calculated optimal shots for me to take, where I could take down two or more geth with a single shot. The hypervelocity rounds punching straight through geth to hit any that were behind it.

Yet with every geth that was killed another fell from the dropship to take its place until finally it dropped something different.

"Critical threat identified."

"Well this got a lot more interesting" I yelled sarcastically.

"Why does it always have to be a Colossus?" I heard Shepard mutter over the radio as she swerved to avoid a bright blue-white orb of energy that had originated from the Colossus.

"No doubt trying to keep things interested." I said dropping another two geth with a single shot. "You target that Colossus. Let me deal with the smaller geth."

"Right. You heard him Wrex, open fire!"

"You're way too late Shepard!" Wrex roared with glee. "I already did!"

"At least the dropship is leaving." I heard Garrus mutter and sure enough after having dropped the colossus the dropship was bugging out.

I didn't respond to that, as I concentrated on taking down geth as quickly as possible. It didn't take long for the geth infantry to realize that the mako had stopped attacking them to target the colossus while their biggest threat was in fact me. And so suddenly all of the geth infantry turned as one and began firing at the room where I was in.

I clenched my teeth at the sudden influx of fire but otherwise my only reaction was to engage my armor and continue sniping at the geth. The distance, coupled with my height meant that very few shots actually hit me, and those that did were easily absorbed by my armor. I had just sniped a geth trooper when a shot suddenly slammed into my shoulder, draining all of my suits energy as it tried to stop the round. Unfortunately, this didn't prove to be enough as I felt a sharp pain erupt in my shoulder. The sudden shock caused me to cry out in pain.

A moment later, the pain subsided as the suit injected me with painkillers and began patching up the damage. Releasing a small growl, I located the geth that had shot me and soon found it. A geth sniper that was in the middle of inserting something into its rifle. Narrowing my eyes I quickly sent a round down at it before it could finish whatever it was doing. The shot connected and destroyed the geth's head, sending it flying back. The moment that my shot connected I heard a gleeful shout over the radio and looking up, saw that all that was left of the colossus was a smoking heap of metal.

A moment later the mako's MG burst into life again as it mowed down the rest of the geth infantry on the bridge.

I fired off a last round, nailing a geth trooper in the head "Skybridge cleared. Good work Sable."

"Sable to Wraith, we're continuing on. See you when we get back."

"Copy that Sable. Returning to the colony. Wraith out." I collapsed my sniper rifle, wincing as a bit of pain made its way through the painkillers. I immediately brought up a revolving diagram of my shoulder. Examining it I could see that the shot had fractured a couple of bones and that the suit was already beginning to repair the damage. I began making my way back to the main Colony level. While waiting for the elevator to get moving I contacted Kaidan and the rest of the squad that had stayed back. "Cobolt, Wraith. Sable has cleared the Skybridge and and is on its way to the Objective."

"Copy that Wraith. We just dropped off a couple of power cells the colonists needed." Kaidan's voice came in over my helmet. "Apparently they have some kind of electromagnetic field that they want to set up to deter the geth. It should be strong enough to shut down any approaching geth the colony. You may want to check it out, make sure it won't fry your suit."

"Impressive. I most definitely will. Suit is hardened against EMP's but a strong enough pulse or field might overcome the hardening. What are you doing now?"

"We're heading back into the tunnels. There's an alpha varren that we have to put down. There's also some kind of geth device in the tunnels that needs to be taken out."

"Copy that Cobolt. I'll investigate this EM field. Then I might go dark for a bit, checking the perimeter."

"Understood Wraith. Cobolt out."

These damn elevators are way to slow. I thought, exiting the elevator. I quickly picked my way through the colony and found Fai Dan, right where we had left him, still standing with Arcelia. Both of them seemed to be on the lookout for me because the moment I appeared they both started walking towards me.

"Fai Dan." I greeted the colony leader as we reached each other. "I heard that you setting up some kind of EM field to keep out the geth."

If the two were surprised by my knowledge they didn't show it, causing me to raise my eyebrow slightly. "Indeed Operative. The electromagnetic field should be able to shut down any invading geth that try to attack us."

I nodded "How long would such a field last? And how can you be sure that the geth will be affected? I'd be surprised if the geth don't have some kind of EMP hardening."

"If required we can increase the power of the field to overcome any hardening the geth have."

"True. If you don't mind, I'd like to inspect this EM field. I need to see if I need to take any precautions."

"Of course. Right this way." Fai Dan gestured towards the center of the colony. "Our generators are near the heart."

Again with the "Heart". I however didn't voice my thoughts "Impressive." I examined the setup the colonists had come up with. "You must have someone who specializes in EMP tech here."

Fai Dan gave a thin Smile. "Thank you operative. We are very fortunate to be able to create this."

I began reading the information that SECOND had started displaying on my visor. "You should have enough power here to maintain an EM field strong enough to short out anything with military grade hardening for almost thirty minutes. Hell it probably has enough juice to overcome the nanosuit." I muttered quietly to myself. Turning around I said, "Yeah, I should encounter some difficulties, nothing overly dramatic however-" I broke off as I saw Fai Dan at a control panel with four more colonists arriving in the small courtyard. All five colonists were looking at me with a completely blank expression.

A moment later Fai Dan flipped a switch and I heard a high pitched humming noise originate from behind me. I hastily looked back to see that the generators had engaged and a moment later a huge surge of energy blasted out of them and hit me.

"Argh!" I screamed as all of the nanosuits functions failed.

"Warning. EMP Assault. All Systems impaired."

I groaned as my neural link to the suit was suddenly and violently cut.

"Switching to core function Mode. Life Support Priority."

My shoulder flared up in pain as the nanocells repairing it failed.

"Warning. EMP assault. All systems impaired."

My chest began burning with pain as the nanocells that had replaced the cells that had been warped failed.

"Switching to core function mode. Life support priority."

Darkness began to creep in on the edges of my vision as I slowly lost consciousness the last thing that I heard was SECOND's voice. Repeating the same thing over and over.

A/N: So yeah, I'm back. I should be able to keep posting every two weeks again if everything goes as planned.

The ones of you that read my old version of NE will no doubt have remembered something similar happen in the Feros chapter.

Anyway as always I'm hoping that I did a better job here than in my previous attempts and make sure that this fic doesn't turn into a stomp fic.

If you might be wondering why the suit didn't detect the spores in the air I feel like because the Spore posed no threat to the suit or Wraith while airborne that the suit just didn't see anything important about it. It will have popped up in the detailed report that it made, but it would have gotten lost with all the other stuff that was in the report. And of course Wraith ignored everything other than the colonist stuff.

Anyway, I'll be updating in two weeks on the 7th of September so see you then!

Until then if you could leave some feedback I'd be grateful. Also remember that if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask!
