A/N: Just a quick note, I changed the name of Raven Team's ship from the CSV Origin to the CSV Phoenix. I don't like the name 'Origin' anymore so I changed it. I also changed all previous mentions of the 'Origin' to the 'Phoenix'.

I still own nothing.

CryNet Phantom Operative designation Wraith

Current assignment: SSV Normandy SR1. Aide to Lt. Com. Shepard, Spectre

Current Location: SSV Normandy SR1, Comm Room, approaching Asteroid X57

Current Time: January 20th 13:28

"Alright listen up!" I didn't move from my position behind and to the right of Shepard as she called out to the ground team. After the rest of the squad had been dismissed I, along with Shepard, had contacted the Phoenix and had been greeted by Viper who had assumed command of Raven team in my absence. The three of us had discussed the situation and planned our assault on the asteroid for an hour. Since the asteroid had negligible gravity, we had decided that Shepard and I would be the only ones heading down to the surface. Raven team would split up and take out two of the fusion torches propelling the asteroid while we would take out the last one. We would then all assault the main facility together where we suspected the terrorists are holding the engineering team hostage.

I turned my attention to Shepard as she began giving the squad the briefing. "We have confirmed that Asteroid X57 has been hijacked by terrorists with the goal to use the asteroid as a weapon against the colony of Terra Nova. CryNet Phantom team Raven is also approaching the asteroid so this will be a joint operation. Because the asteroid has negligible gravity, I will only be taking squad mates that have combat experience in zero-g environments. Unfortunately, unless I am wrong, that would only be me and Wraith. If that's wrong, speak up now."

Tali was the first to speak up. "I have some experience in low gravity environments. Living on the Flotilla means that most quarians have some experience in low gravity."

"I see. But you haven't had extensive combat training in zero-g have you?"

Tali shook her head.

"Well then, I'm sorry, but you'll still have to stay back. Anyone else?"

Wrex spoke up. "I do."

"We thought you might. However, I think that it might be best if you hang back, in case something goes south. Alright?"

Wrex gave a sharp nod. "Understood, I'll be around to pull your asses out of the fire."

"Exactly. The asteroid is being propelled by a series of fusion torches, which were placed in strategic locations across it's surface. There are three torches in total. Wraith and I will drop in and take out one of them, while the other two will be taken out by Raven. After the fusion torches are brought offline, we will rendezvous with Raven and assault the main facility where it is believed that the terrorists are holding the engineering team hostage. The rest of you will remain aboard the Normandy unless otherwise called upon. Any questions?"

Current Location: Asteroid X57 enroute to Terra Nova

Current time: January 20th 14:01

"Raven, this is Wraith, Hunter and I are on the ground. All call signs, report in." I said over the comm the moment Shepard and I made contact with the asteroid."

"Viper here, successful landing with Typhoon. Moving on to fusion torch Bravo now."

"Nova reporting in. I've landed with the rest of blue team. We are proceeding on to Charlie, ready to blow some shit up!"

"Team red has landed. We are set up in an over watch position. We have positive visuals on torches Alpha, Bravo and the main facility. No hostiles detected."

I nodded to myself. Team blue consisted of Viper and Typhoon. Team green was Nova, Tigress and Jackal, while red team consisted of the snipers, Kestrel and Bolt. Shepard had taken the call sign 'Hunter' for this op, and together with me we were sable team. "Copy that Raven. Sable is on the move. Heading on to target alpha now."

"You ready?" I turned to look at the armored figure of Shepard beside me, "I don't want to have to wait on you because you were too slow."

I gave a short chuckle "Man Shepard, you need to remember who you're talking to."

"Well then, stop standing there and lets load and lock and roll and rock."I could hear the smirk in her voice as she pushed off of the rock that she was currently holding on to, the kick propelling her forward towards the fusion torch that was in the distance.

In response I did the same, pushing off of the ground at a low angle, following her. This was how we made our way to the torch, almost flying as we skimmed along the surface of the asteroid, only having to make contact with the ground thrice before we arrived at the structure in control of the fusion torch. Shepard landed on the side of the building a moment sinking into a crouch, like some kind of human spider as she activated her grav-boots to fight the minute amount of gravity pulling her down. A moment later and I also landed on the side of the building, the boots on my nanosuit also able to keep me in place.

"Raven, Sable here. We've arrived at target Alpha. Proceeding in." I updated the rest of the team and glanced over at Shepard who motioned me to follow her. Doing so she led me to the front of the building to where there was an entrance.

"I expect that this is an airlock. That means that we will have to let the airlock cycle before moving through. We can't be sure that there are no hostages in here, so we can't just blow open the door and let the entire building depressurize."

I nodded in understanding "That means that whoever is in there will probably know we are coming."

"Exactly. Therefore I want you to cloak before we get into the airlock. Then once the door opens I want you to head up the wall and onto the ceiling while I distract who ever is in there."

"So I can take them by surprise." I finished for her.

"Yup. Ready?" She asked me letting herself fall to the ground so as to walk through the door from the ground.

When I gave a nod she hit a few buttons on the door console, which resulted in the door sliding open with a soft hiss, revealing that there was indeed a airlock. Cloaking I crawled through the doorway from the top, until I was hanging from the ceiling of the airlock, invisible while Shepard walked through the door. The moment we were both inside, she triggered the pressurization process and drew her Marshall. After a few moments the pressurization stopped and the inner door slid open. Peeking out I saw a group of batarians looking at Shepard in surprise. Shepard didn't let them gain the wits before charging straight into the midst of the group in a blue flare.

I immediately crawled out of the airlock, and up the wall until I was hanging from the ceiling watching Shepard reign chaos on the batarians. The batarian that she had hit with her charge was currently spinning away in the low gravity. It looked like these batarians had not been trained in zero-g environments very well, if at all, as none of them seemed to be using the low gravity to their advantage like Shepard, who was taking full advantage of the situation. She never stayed still, never staying on the same plane, always jumping around, landing on the walls, ceiling and floor blasting any batarian that she got close to.

Smiling to myself I reached over, grabbed my SCARAB and brought it up to my shoulder. A moment later, I fizzed into existence, my SCARAB spewing shards of death at the batarians. The terrorists shouted in terror and anger as my gunfire joined Shepard's in mowing them down. Unfortunately for me a couple of the batarians pulled themselves together quickly enough to locate me hanging from the ceiling and loosed a couple of rounds at me.

I quickly ceased my assault and kicked off from the ceiling, twisting in midair I landed on top of a nearby crate. My SCARAB roared as it returned fire at one of the batarians that had fired at me. My nanosuit enhanced aim caused all of my shots to slam true and the batarians shield flared as it tried to hold back my onslaught. Unfortunately for the batarian, his shield fell quickly under the rapid fire of my carbine, resulting in him flying backward limply, propelled by my SCARAB. Not giving the other terrorists any chance to react I leaped forward with as much strength as the nanosuit could muster sending me speeding towards a batarian. As I flew over him I peppered him with my carbine killing him when his shields failed.

I had to cut my short flight short as the back wall of the building loomed up in front of me. Twisting once more, I sank into a crouch hanging off of the wall SCARAB raised. I was however greeted by the sight of the last batarian spinning away into a wall, having just been blasted away by Shepard's shotgun.

"Batarian scum." I muttered as I watched the spiraling terrorist hit the wall. Turning my gaze to Shepard, who was also hanging from a storage unit I asked, "Is that all of them?"

She gave me a nod. "Looks like it. Let's go deactivate that fusion torch."

"Right." I mumbled before triggering my comm. "Raven, Sable. Be advised. Hostile terrorists are batarians. Repeat, the terrorists are batarians."

Viper was the first to respond. "Yeah, we know." I was able to make out the sound of gunfire over his mic.

I heard the sound of an explosion as Nova answered. "Yup. Not very well trained are they though?"

I grinned slightly. "Watch the explosives Nova, there may be hostages."

"I know! Who do you think I am?" There was a short moment of silence until, "Don't answer that."

I shook my head in exasperation, letting loose a sigh as I closed the channel. A moment later my comm burst into life again however. "Hunter here, I'm shutting down the torch now."

Kestrel responded almost immediately after "Copy that Hunter. Can confirm, torch is deactivated."

My attention was suddenly drawn to a message that had appeared on my visor.

/SGNL SCN...\\

/INTRCPTNG TRNSMSSN\\

The moment I took notice of the message it vanished, accompanied by a new female voice coming in over a comm channel. "Hello? Hello? Is anyone there? I'm reading that the torch is offline. They haven't found me yet, but I can't talk long. Keep shutting off the fusion torches or we're all going to die!"

A moment later, Shepard's voice came over the same channel, also having intercepted it. "Who is this? What's going on?"

"My name's Kate Bowman. I'm part of the engineering team assigned to bring this asteroid to Terra Nova. We were attacked yesterday by batarian extremists, I've been hiding since they arrived. I think they know the torch went out I- I'm reading that the last two torches have gone out! Wha- Oh no. You've really pissed them off! Their leader is setting charges everywhere. I think he's going to blow this whole facility!"

Suddenly a new voice, one I immediately recognized as batarian came in over the transmission. "Get away from there!"

"Don't shoot! Please!" Kate's pleas were cut short by static followed by the transmission cutting off.

"Final torch being shut down now." Nova reported in the silence. "Let's go get these bastards."

"Agreed. Raven, converge on the main facility immediately. I want those hostages to be rescued ASAP."

"Green, copied and understood."

"Blue here, we're on our way."

"Team red, on over watch over the main facility. No movement yet."

"You ready?" I turned to face Shepard who had spoken. She had just walked out of a door which was, from my point of view, in the wall.

I nodded as I released my grip on the wall that I was hanging and righted myself to land softly on the floor. "Yup."

"Then let's go."

I nodded as I turned to follow her. We hadn't gone far when we both saw a human male hiding, facing toward the door, away from us.

Shepard called out to him, "Hey!"

The man jerked to the side, spun around and fired a single shot at Shepard. Her shields flared to life, absorbing the shot.

"Oh god!" He said horrified. "I didn't mean to- Are you hurt?"

Shepard merely snorted softly as she shook her head. "It takes more than one shot to bring me down."

"Sorry, I didn't even realize you were human, until- well." He shrugged slightly "Guess I'm not really much of a soldier."

"Well don't worry about that. I'm Commander Shepard. This is Operative Wraith."

"A real phantom! I can't believe it!" I crossed my arms, giving him a level stare at his excited exclamation. "Oh right, sorry. My name is Simon. Simon Atwell. I'm the chief engineer on this rock. Listen, we don't have much time. The batarians fired up the fusion torches. You've got to shut them down fast! There are four million people down there Shepard!"

"I know! Don't worry about it! All of the fusion torches have already been shut down." Shepard interrupted him reassuringly.

"What?" Simon was rather confused. "But- how? They were just on a few minutes ago."

I stepped forward. "The rest of my team shut down the other torches while we shut this one down."

"Oh thank god! What about the rest of my engineering team? They're still being held hostage."

"We're moving in on the main facility now. We'll get your guys out of there, don't worry. Do you have any more information on the batarians?" Shepard asked the engineer.

He shook his head. "No, I have no idea what's going on in there. They've changed the pass codes once they landed there."

"Who's behind this? Do you have any intel on him?" Shepard asked again.

"I heard a couple of them talking. They mentioned a 'Balak'. It sounded like he's the one in charge."

"Balak, leader of a rogue batarian terrorist organization." I said, reading the information that was scrolling down my visor. "Long suspected to be an SIU agent in deep cover and being funded in secret by the batarian government. No concrete evidence, however."

The engineer blinked owlishly at me for a moment before he continued. "Oh- uh- right. Well uh, I think that the other batarians are not really happy with what Balak was ordering them to do. They seemed to not really want to go through with this but were too scared of Balak to refuse."

Shepard nodded. "We may be able to use that to our advantage." She mused. "Is there anything else that we should know?"

"I- uh no. Just please get the rest of my team out safely."

"We'll get them out of there safely. Don't worry. Just wait here until you hear from us."

With that Shepard turned and motioned for me to follow her. I did so, walking past Atwell on our way to the airlock.

"You all get that?" I asked as the airlock ran its depressurization cycle.

"Affirmative. The rest of Raven team is in position. Just waiting on you." Viper told us.

"Copy that, Viper. We are en-route now."

"We better get a move on then." Shepard said as the airlock door opened. The moment it was fully opened she pushed off from the ground again followed closely by me. Together we arrived with the rest of Raven team in good time. Acknowledging each other, we all formed up in a wedge, with Shepard at the point and me right behind her and to her left. As one we began leaping across the asteroid, toward the main facility's main entrance. As we neared the entrance we noticed a group of figures, standing in the middle of the courtyard.

Slowing to a stop we raised our weapons to cover them, noting that they were all standing with their weapons holstered. Casting a quick glance at my minimap, I started calling out orders to the rest of raven team. "Viper, Jackal, cloak and circle around in a flanking position. Kestrel, Bolt, go dark and find a good vantage point. The rest of you, stay sharp, but don't engage unless they prove to be hostile."

"Understood, going dark." Viper said as the four phantoms disappeared from the visual spectrum and broke off from the formation. Jackal began circling around to the right while Viper went left. Kestrel and Bolt made a beeline for a nearby catwalk.

"Let me do the talking here." Shepard said quietly over the comm.

"Understood. Spread out guys."

Shepard began walking forward, assault rifle drawn, but pointed off to the side, I followed her while the rest of the team spread out and moved forward with us.

"Hold it right there! This doesn't have to end in bloodshed." The obviously male batarian's voice cut in over our speakers. We slowed our approach until we came to a stop a few meters in front of them. "Don't come any closer. We can do this the hard way, or we can end this peacefully."

"I didn't think you batarians knew the meaning of the word." I spat out angrily.

"Look, I'm just doing my job. Hijacking this rock wasn't my idea." The batarian defended himself. "I signed on to make a little profit. A quick slave grab."

Shepard spoke up before I could retort "This isn't just a 'quick slave grab' anymore. Millions of people are going to die."

"Don't you think I know that? I'm just following orders here. If it were up to me I would have already left. I didn't sign on to die to a Phantom raid."

"Well it's not to late. You can still leave." I stared at Shepard in shock.

"Shepard- What the fuck-" I hissed over the team channel.

Shepard didn't let me finish. "Quiet! I said let me do the talking."

Snarling angrily to myself I turned my attention back to the batarian. "I don't think so. Balak would skin me alive and sell my hide out of spite. Crazy bastard. This whole mission has gone to hell and I'm gonna pay for it."

"I can tell you what will definitely happen if you keep listening to Balak. You're going to end up dead."

"Hmph, I know. I'm dead either way. I had a bad feeling about this mission ever since we landed. Now Balak wants you dead, something that I now know is not going to happen. But what Balak wants, Balak gets- or you die trying, which is most likely in this case." The batarian muttered.

"Spoken like a true lackey." Shepard mocked him. "You get out of here and I'll take down Balak, or you can die trying to kill us, after which I will still take down Balak."

"Huh, an interesting proposal. It certainly has benefits over the current situation. Fine, let's get out of here." the batarian said to his group before turning back to Shepard "I hope you're as quick with your gun as you are with your promises. The men in there are Balak's elite. Not like those sent out to the fusion torches."

"Balak will get what's coming to him. And so will you, if I ever catch you in human territory again. Are we clear?"

"Perfectly. Here, you'll need this to get in the main facility. Can we go now?"

Shepard took the data chip from the batarian. "Yeah, get out of here."

I glared at the batarian as he turned and walked away, followed by the rest of his men.

"That better not come to bite us in the ass Shepard." I hissed angrily at her before stomping my way over to the main facility. "We probably won't even need those access codes to get in."

Shepard merely let loose a heavy sigh before activating her omni-tool and waving it over the door, causing it to flash green and slide open. A moment later we all piled into the airlock and closed the outer door, allowing it to run its compression cycle. A minute later and the influx of air stopped and the inner door opened. All of us poured out of the airlock where we were instantly hit by a barrage of fire coming from all over the room.

Immediately, everyone kicked off of the ground accompanied by various shouts of ,"Armoring up!"

I immediately went on the offensive. Jumping forward with as much strength as I could muster. I immediately took note of the text off to the side of my visor that stated that the atmosphere within the building was within acceptable parameters to activate the hydrothrusters. Doing so, I began twisting and dodging the majority of the fire flying at me, the thrusters giving me a massive edge in mobility. In no time at all I had rocketed my way all the way to the back of the room, putting me behind the batarians that were hanging from everywhere. Only two of them had tracked my movement and had turned to face me, only for one of them to expose himself to the rest of the team and get gunned down in short order.

The other one was smart enough to keep his back pressed against a support beam so that he was covered from the others, only for him to get blasted by my SCAR. Kicking off from the wall, I floated up to the ceiling where I hid behind a metal slab, as I waited for my energy to fully recharge. My attention was suddenly drawn by the sound of a loud explosion and when I peered over my cover I saw another nanosuited figure flying towards the back of the room, hydrothrusters propelling her along. My visor had immediately tagged her as Nova, which explained the explosion. I popped out of cover to quickly blast a batarian that was shooting at her.

"You making sure that you don't blow a hole in the wall?" I shouted over at her when she slid behind cover.

"Yup! Just using frag rounds! They won't be able to blast through walls as easily, but will shred through those terrorists like cabbage!" She hollered back, sending a grenade flying from her under-barreled grenade launcher.

"You really should focus on accuracy you know." Bolt's voice cut in over our comm. A moment later I heard the sharp crack of a DSG firing and saw one of the batarians fly backward from the impact of the sniper rifle.

"Bah! Let the girl blow stuff up! None of that accuracy BS here thank you very much!" Typhoon called out as I heard the familiar staccato of the Mod 0 LMG open fire.

"Without accuracy you don't hit anything big guy!" Kestrel retorted with a blast from his sniper rifle.

"He doesn't need to!" Jackal called out from where he was jumping about, firing short bursts from his Grendal. "He's suppressing these guys just fine you know!"

"Less talking more shooting." Viper admonished as he flew past a batarian, shotgun blasting.

"Can't do both?" Typhoon asked from where he was firing his LMG. "Ah damnit! Armor's down! I got hit!"

"Come on Typhoon! Watch your energy levels." Tigress reprimanded Typhoon. "I would prefer it if I didn't have to patch you up all the time!"

"I'm fine!" Typhoon protested. "It was just a scratch."

"A scratch that goes right through you're shoulder before getting stuck in the nanoweave on the other side."

"Are you guys always like this?" Shepard asked as she flared blue and smashed into another batarian, kicking him away with a biotically infused boot.

"When we're all together and kicking ass? Yup!" Nova called out as I jumped out from the ceiling and landed on the floor, landing on a terrorist as I did so.

"STOP!" The loud gutteral shout brought everything to a halt. I looked up from the batarian whose head I had just crushed, to see a batarian holding a remote detonator in his hand. "One more shot and your precious human hostages die!"

Shepard immediately reined herself in. "Hold fire."

My visor immediately scanned the batarian and noted that it was Balak. "You damn humans are almost more trouble than you're worth.

"I'm only just getting started." Shepard spat out at the batarian leader.

"How predictable. But this is over. I'm leaving this asteroid. If you try to stop me I'll detonate these charges and you're helper and her friends are all going to die. The charges are also connected to a heart beat sensor, so don't try any funny ideas."

"I can't just let you go Balak. Not after what you've done here." Shepard growled angrily.

"This is nothing!" Balak shouted. "You humans have done far worse to the batarians! We've been forced into exile. You yourself slaughtered many of my kin on Torfan and Elysium!"

"Don't make it sound like you're the innocent party here!" Shepard spat. "You brought it upon yourselves! You butchered our people on Mindoir! You attacked Elysium!"

"Really? You invaded our space! Took our resources! And when we asked the Council for aid they brushed us off. We were forced to defend our selves. But the humans were stronger than us. We knew that. The Council knew that. But it didn't matter. It was you. You and your kind are the only reason we're in this position!"

"We invaded your space?" Shepard asked incredulously. "The Traverse wasn't and isn't owned by anyone! You didn't have any colonies in the space that we colonized. You merely got pissy because you didn't get the entire Traverse for yourself! No, the plight of the batarians is all on you."

"Enough! You couldn't possibly understand. Or maybe, you just don't want to. Either way, I'm done wasting my breath. Now, if you want your friends to live, I suggest you step aside."

Shepard gave an angry sigh. "Fine. You can go. But this isn't over. I'll find you eventually."

"What!?" I hissed angrily.

"Maybe. But I made sure you won't follow me today. Those charges are still on a timer. Better hurry if you want to save your friends."

I was practically shaking with rage as I watched the smug figure of Balak walk from view.

"Go deal with those bombs." I practically snarled at the rest of the team when I noticed that Shepard had already made her way to the first bomb and was defusing it.

Nova immediately sprang into action, floating towards another bomb while Viper went to the last charge. I turned to glare at the exit from which Balak had left. The moment that my visor indicated that the bombs had all been deactivated I strode on toward the airlock, not bothering to wait on anyone else, contacting the Normandy as I did so.

"Normandy, this is Wraith. Mission complete. The asteroid is secure. Requesting pickup, over."

A/N: So yeah. Wraith is a bit racist against batarians. And he is willing to sacrifice the civilians in order to take Balak down.

Anyway, tell me what you guys thought of my low/no gravity combat scenes.

As always, if you have questions or feedback, don't hesitate to contact me!
