Chapter 17: Decisions
Gaz's PoV:
The lights were flashing, a sign of warning I'd usually jump to, as I've prepared myself to do, yet I was powerless to do so, for reasons unknown. Another thing I noticed was there was no sound as the alarms flared… I sat up in my bed. "no need to fret, little Gaz." I was unable to react, frozen exactly as I was, the fear pooled in my body, yet I couldn't muster the ability to do or say anything, which frightened me more so. "My little Gaz." It was a low whisper, yet a chill was sent coursing through my body, he came into my direct line of sight and sat on the bed. "Lay down." Powerless to disobey the order, my body laid down, I couldn't even squeak in protest when he crawled above me. "I've missed you." Suddenly his lips were on my ear and I felt my face flush. "I know you've missed me too" his lips went to my neck "You can't deny it" and again "all these dreams, even your body is betraying you and conveying your true feelings." Finally I found my voice. "o-only cuz of the stupid serum.." "Zim only helped you realize the truth, which you could never deny now, but somehow, Zim always knew." Again voiceless, I waited for his next words, my eyes widening as his lips met mine. Next I knew, I was opening my eyes, unknown to me, apparently a lot of time had passed, through half-lidded eyes I saw Zim's glowing red, a smirk on his face. "You see Gaz?" It was a question, yet a statement. How did this happen to me, when had I closed my eyes?! He was at my ear again. "Remember all those special dreams" I felt my face blanch, and my stomach flip at the way he spoke. "How wonderful we were… you were." The jerk chuckled "Those feelings, they could be real, my little Gaz, and they'll be better." "stop talking." "why should I, you and I both know you don't want me to." "You're wrong, I do." He laughed again "we don't have to do any talking little Gaz.." As I felt those bizarre teeth pierce my neck, I jolted awake.
Dib's PoV:
I awakened to the sound of my cell door being opened and the freak standing before me. "Dib-human." a terse greeting, no reason to expect more. "Lizard." There was an audible intake of breath. "your answer?" it was almost monotone. "I accept" tears were streaming down my cheecks, would Gaz ever forgive me, would Tak, could I forgive myself?! Zim beamed. "Wise, very... very unlike you." "fuck you." "These profanities your family is so fond of… you'll be escorted to your new living quarters within the next hour, clean up, you'll be reunited by the end of the day, when you leadme right to them." Neither of us said another word as he left.
Tak's PoV:
I saw Gaz on the monitor; she jerked in her sleep and then bolted awake. I couldn't imagine what she feels going through these dreams; she won't speak of them, and knowing of the serum's effects, I believe she has the right to her privacy… I heard a familiar beeping from my long-abandoned communicator, it was Zim!?...
Gaz's PoV:
Tak burst in my room. Eyes full of fear and shock. "He's coming, he's coming, I've failed you, I've failed Dib, I failed, and now everything is lost, we must go, now! Must leave here now!" she yelled looking around the room franticly." She must've known I knew and was shocked in my silence. "Somehow he knows, and he's on his way now, we need to leave but he has dib with him and threatened to kill him if we depart, I don't know what to do?!" I grabbed her chin. "We're staying." I was blunt, she understood all the reasons why but couldn't accept it. "But you-" "Will be okay." "and Dib-" "will live to see you" "and Zim-" "won."
She didn't say a word as she hugged me tightly, it would've been comforting if this wasn't fucked up, much like all of our futures, not to mention the Earth's.
"We may be staying, but damnit, as an Irken soldier, We won't go without a fight." She was acting on anger… "Is that wise? I know Dib would only want the best for you, for us, and I also know he wouldn't go with Zim quietly, perhaps we should wait this out, instead of acting rash…" she considered his. "when are they set to be here?" there was a silence "dawn tomorrow."
