Shadows of Truth - Replies to Reviews
Guest from May 31st - Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoy the style of my writing especially in describing the beauty of Damon and Meredith. They are my favourite characters from TVD too. Both so calm, collected and sardonic. I had a lot of fun having them interact together since Meredith is the last person who would fall for his charms. I agree that Bonnie never seemed enough of a challenge for Damon. She was someone he could easily seduce, but never seriously fall in love with. I've never thought of what a grown up version of Margaret might be like, but there could definitely be an interesting story there. I wonder if anyone's ever written any fics about her and Damon? There will definitely be some bed sharing once Damon and Meredith infiltrate the DV. Meredith is going to have to go further than she ever thought she would to sell that charade. I am so flattered that my story inspired you to make your first comment on the internet. I am definitely still alive, well and working on resurrecting "Shadows of Truth" for you and all of the other fans. I'm blown away by the story still having fans all these years later.
Kore from May 31st - Thank you! I added an update on October 26th to give everyone some background for how the story came about. I will be revising the story, but will hopefully be able to give everyone a proper update within the next few months.
Dynarra from June 11th - Aww thank you for being head over heels in love with my story. I agree that Damon and Meredith have incredible chemistry between them. Neither of them are fools so having them verbally spar and negotiate the terms of their arrangement to become part of the DV was a blast. Thank you for the compliment, but I've never really written any smut. I'm not sure how smutty things are going to get between Damon and Meredith, but I can promise things will definitely get steamy. She's playing the part of his sex slave so there has to be some hot scenes between them that I very much look forward to writing.
Tina from October 21st - Thank you so much! I have not abandoned the story and am currently working on revising it and updating it. All of these lovely reviews have made me realize that I do have a talent with words and I agree that it would be a waste to let those skills go to waste. I am going to delve back into the story to keep my skills honed. Writing only gets better with practice and is the perfect place to practice the craft.
Guest from October 21st - The pomegranates and jackasses line has been a big hit with everyone Haha It's definitely a line I'm proud of. I haven't given up on the story I promise. I'm currently working on a revision so hopefully there will be a proper update very soon.
Dynarra from October 21st - Thank you I'm so pleased you found the story lovely.
Guest from October 23rd - Aww thanks I think you are also pretty awesome yourself! I am pleased to reassure you that the story has not been abandoned. I have started making notes and will be revising the story, but I haven't given up on it. There's some things I have to figure out for myself since I was going off of someone else's ideas the first time round, but I have a general idea of the direction I'd like to take everything.
2nd Guest from October 23rd - *Blushes* Thank you that is such a huge compliment since I don't think I've ever been called the Best Boss Ass Bitch of many things in my life. I might have to get that put on a mug or something LOL I'm glad there's still a fan club out there for Damon and Meredith. I had so much fun writing all of their scenes together, especially the one where he comes to her hotel room and then when they meet up again at the opera. Oh and I am a Lady.
3rd Guest from October 23rd - I'm grateful that I was able to make you like Bonnie if you aren't a big fan of Bonnie in the books. I can definitely see how Book Bonnie gets on people's nerves since she's mostly just boy crazy and romanticizes dying young. She's not my favourite character, but it was amusing to write for her since she's like an eager puppy with zero mental filter. Whatever comes into her head she says aloud. As opposed to Meredith who is more reserved. I definitely liked Show Bonnie a lot better too and the background they gave her with the Bennett witches. I'm so flattered that you like the Book Bonnie I created even better than Show Bonnie. That truly means a lot! I am happy to reassure you that I have not given up on the story and am currently working on revising it.
Guest from October 24th - *Hangs head in shame* I agree there is no justice in it taking me 8 and ½ years to revisit this story. If you read the update from October 26th that I wrote, it explains a little of why the story got abandoned. I am determined to pick it back up, to revise it and finish it once and for all. I realize that I left it on the cruellest cliff hanger ever so I must make that up to everyone.
Cassei from October 24th - Nope not dead. Still very much alive and ready to dive back into the story.
Dia from October 24th - Oh no I am so sorry I almost brought you to tears, but don't cry because I haven't given up on it for good. I'm going through the old books, making notes and figuring out for myself what direction I would like to see the story go based on what was already created with my writing partner at the time. I have a lot of ideas of my own so I think I'm still capable of coming up with something everyone will enjoy. I just had to believe in myself on my own, and all of your kind and supportive words have got me to that point.
Ghost from October 24th - Ohh thank you for that information! Most of the books seem to describe her as having dark eyes, so I interpreted that as black, but I definitely like her eyes being grey a lot better. I agree that cool, clear grey eyes suit her personality perfectly. That also makes it easier on me when it comes to describing her and Damon's appearance since Damon has black eyes, and there's really only so many creative ways you can describe black eyes if they both have black eyes. So thank you very much for that info. I will definitely be incorporating that into my revisions of the story.
No consolacion from October 24th - I didn't read the newer TVD books, but ugh that's what she went with for Meredith's full name? I see why you are not a big fan. Teresa and Maria are such stereotypical Hispanic names, even though Meredith isn't. I looked it up and it's actually Welsh. And Consolacion literally means "Consolation" in Spanish so that's just weird. I haven't decided officially what Meredith's full name will be, but I promise I will reveal it in the story. I also promise that it won't be nearly as clunky and cliche as what L.J. Smith came up with. There will definitely be no Consolacion.
Guest from October 26th - Thank you! I agree that Meredith is very brave. It was a pleasure to write for such a strong, level headed and intelligent character like Meredith. I'm looking forward to diving back into her mind set.
The greatest from October 26th - I'm so glad that your friend is a big fan of the story and that he also got you interested in it. That truly means a lot. I can't vouch for other writers, but it definitely helps to have a vivid imagination and an ability to empathize with all characters, even the villains. The nice thing about fan fiction is that you don't even have to create those characters from scratch. You just have to be able to tap into how that character might think and feel in familiar or brand new scenarios you create for them. To be "just a reader" is still a wonderful thing that also utilizes imagination and empathy. I'm a big reader myself too and find it odd when people don't enjoy any type of reading. Like not even magazines or something?!I plan to make your hopes for a continuation of the story a reality soon.
