"Soul! Stop moving dammit! Maka said trying to finish taping the bandage around Soul's chest.

"Well then stop hurting me, Maka!" Soul yelled as Maka – again – hit his wound on his chest.

After everyone went their separate ways, Maka volunteered to take care of Soul for the first night out of the hospital. She wanted to make sure he healed quickly and that he didn't do something stupid. As she finally put the finishing touches on the bandage, Soul quickly stood up and journeyed into the kitchen. Maka, with wide eyes, stood up to watch where he went.

"Why are you going into the kitchen?" Maka asked following suit to where Soul would be.

"You promised me a date, so we are going on a date." Soul said while he fished for something in his cabinets.

Maka looked confused, she couldn't believe that Soul would even step on his front porch, let alone go out somewhere for a date.

"Soul, you can't go outside! You need to rest." Soul turned without any hesitation and looked puzzled by Maka's last statement. Soul chuckled to himself causing Maka to be more confused than she already was.

"Outside? Who said I was leaving my house? We are going to watch a movie with some popcorn." Soul explained as he took out the box of popcorn from his cabinet.

Maka laughed at Soul's request but slowly ended her laughter when she met Soul's eyes.

"What's so funny?" Soul asked cocking his brow at Maka

"Popcorn and movie, I just thought you were deeper than that and would take me out to some terrible jazz club." Maka said trying to hide her giggles.

"Nope, popcorn and a movie tonight. The Jazz club will be our second date." Soul said flashing Maka a teasing grin. Maka rolled her eyes and marched back into the living room. Maka searched for a movie that would embarrass him too much to even admit he owned the movie. But from her search all she seemed to have found was action, horror, or mystery movies. She found no movie to at least make his cheeks pink. She almost gave up her search until she saw the most girly, sweetest, 80's, loving, and emotional chick flick – Pretty in Pink.

Maka held up the DVD in her hand as Soul walked into the living room and plopped on the couch with a bowl of popcorn in his hands. Soul's eyes flew open as he saw the dreaded DVD in Maka's hand. Maka laughed and walked up to him, teasing him about his secret movie.

"It's not mine, my mom was here and she never brought it home." Soul said trying to diffuse the situation.

"Don't lie to me Soul, I understand. You like chick flicks and apparently you loved this one so much, you bought it for yourself."

"That movie is so uncool; I wouldn't want it for myself." Soul said turning his head away from Maka and the tormenting DVD.

"Whatever, we are watching it."

Maka hit play on the DVD and the two snuggled close to watch the movie. The filled Maka with tears and laughter as two hours past and the movie played on. After the movie ended, Maka wiped her lonely tear and looked up to Soul, who was sleeping with his head back. Annoyed that he didn't pay attention, Maka hit Soul in the head with a book.

"WHAT THE HELL! WHAT YOU DO THAT FOR?" Soul yelled now being injured twice.

"You fell asleep on our date!" Maka said, seeing nothing wrong with hitting Soul with a book.

The two burst out in laughter, each laughing at each other's irritation. As the laughter faded out, the two grew closer.

"I want to show you something."

"Sure. Okay." Maka puzzled by Soul's request.

Soul grabbed Maka's hand, leading her to his secret room, where his grand piano stayed. The two sat on his piano bench; Soul flipping through his sheet music and Maka caressing the piano keys gently, striking each key one by one. Soul watched as Maka's fingers explored his piano. Soul began playing his music, pushing Maka's hand from the keys. The songs captured Maka in a daze. Every time he lifted his fingers to play, she watched in amazement. How could he play such dark music and create a heavenly sound to her ears? His rhythm was compatible to her heartbeat, the tune rung in her brain, the notes struck her eardrums. He compelled her to this music he played. She was able to enter in his soul and see the pain, torture, puzzlement, and broken trust in his spirit. His music became her reason to save him – but she couldn't – he hypnotized her without her thinking. Before she could even think of being with him, she had to save herself first. The deception from men crafted her wall; her protection.

Soul let her in. His past was written in this notes; he watched as she lost herself into his creation. He couldn't help but tell his story without words. He knew she would understand. Maka had some spunk he never saw in any other girl; she held her head high but was very humble. He wanted a quick thing but she wouldn't budge at first, but her smart ass comments made him want to push further. To realize she would be able to accept him was the good part. Now to want to take it further was something he needed to express but didn't know how to say. He played his music, hoping she would see what she needed to know. He expected her to misinterpret his soulful music as just a song, but she saw past it. He finished his song and she looked up to him. Their lips inching from each other with every passing second; their faces grew closer. Before their lips could touch, Maka stopped Soul in mid-action.

"What time is it?" Maka asked realizing she stayed later than she planned to.

"Almost 4, why?"

"I have work tomorrow. I need to go." Maka said rushing to grab her shoes and head out the doorway.

"Wait! You forgot something." Soul shouted before Maka could close the front door.

"What? Did I forget my phone?" Maka asked looking for her phone.

"No, this." Soul grabbed Maka's cheeks lightly pulling her face to his, finally kissing her with his soft lips. The kiss felt like his soul was being pulled by some weird fairy guy who wore a diaper and carried an arrow everywhere. Soul relaxed his body into hers, deepening their kiss and making it more passionate. Their lips fighting for dominance, tongues exploring each other's mouths; the kiss lasted two minutes. With the air hitting his bare skin, Soul pulled away from Maka, resting his forehead on hers. Maka glanced into Soul's eyes, confused about what she just experienced.

"It's about you stop being a prune and let me kiss you." Soul said smirking at Maka's displeased face. Maka punched Soul in the shoulder and walked towards her apartment. Soul smiled and yelled goodnight to the distant Maka but all he could see was her flipping him off and still walking home.

Soul walked back into his house content with his goodnight kiss to Maka. Before he made his move to go up to his room, he received a text from Maka.

'Good night to you, too.' –Maka xx

Soul walked up the stairs and cruised under his sheets. He stared at the ceiling for a bit before finally humming himself a tune to sleep. 'I might just write a song to this melody.' Soul thought to himself before sleep consumed him.

Maka reached her house and decided to text Soul a good night since she gave him the finger. Her lips still tingling from the kiss, Maka shuffled to her room and kicked off her shoes and placed herself on her bed. She looked at the ceiling, envisioning the day she would have at work later that day. Maka began closing her eyes but in her head rang this catchy little refrain; she immediately started humming before slumber won her over.
