Three years later…
Tsubaki stood in the kitchen, stirring the curry for tonight's dinner. She tasted a little sip of the stew and was satisfied with her creation. She poured the curry in two separate bowls. Both bowls had white rice in it; the blue bowl on the left had way more than the one on the right. Tsubaki carried the bowls into the living room where her husband sat. She set the bowl on the coffee table in front of her partner. His emerald eyes stay glued to the television as Tsubaki sat next to him. She began eating her food in silence. Her husband sat, intently watching the game. Waiting for him to eat, Tsubaki watched her husband stared into the colorful box in front of them. With a little tap on the shoulder, Tsubaki grasped her lover's attention.
"Why aren't you eating?" Tsubaki gently asked her husband.
"When did you bring out the food?"
Dumbfounded by the fact that her husband seemed genuinely clueless about dinner being finished, Tsubaki placed her bowl down on the coffee table and lifted her husband's bowl. She placed the bowl right in front of his eyes.
"I made you some curry and rice. I hope you like it." Tsubaki smiled as she offered her husband the bowl.
"Tsu. I'll love it. Only you can cook a meal fit for a God!" Blackstar exclaimed to the top of his lungs. He snatched the bowl away from Tsubaki and savagely ate his dinner. Tsubaki giggled under her breath and continued to eat her dinner. After the two finished, Tsubaki grabbed the bowls and started for the kitchen.
"Wait! I'll wash the dishes tonight. You need a bath." Blackstar said as he took the bowls away from his wife.
"A bath? Do I stink?" Tsubaki nervously sniffed her clothes to smell the stench.
"No. But don't think I didn't notice the aches and pains you have from teaching that dance class. You haven't been treating your body well." Blackstar said. He could always asses when Tsubaki wasn't herself. If she had a headache, he would be able to tell by looking at her. If Tsubaki's period was coming, he would know the exact day it would start. He studied Tsubaki not because he was obsessive or creepy. He studied her every move to always know how to make her happy. He swept her raven hair out her face and kissed her forehead.
"Of course, you noticed. I wouldn't expect anything less from you." Tsubaki smiled at Blackstar. She reluctantly walked to the master bathroom to run herself a bath.
The couple never bought a home together. They were content with the small but cozy apartment they lived in. The loft-styled home had one bedroom and one and a half bathrooms. The kitchen had beautiful dark wood cabinets and a glass table with topaz colored chairs. The rest of the house had a mixture of gray furniture, brick walls, and eccentric photographs. The two made it their own home and felt uneasy leaving the nice space after they got married.
She sat on the edge of the tub as she waited for the water to rise to the perfect spot. She heard Blackstar yell at the television as she waited for her bath. Tsubaki giggled as she heard him scream obscenities from the other room. She tried to silence her laugh as Blackstar shouted vulgarities at the players on the screen.
Once the water filled the tub, Tsubaki stepped in the warm waters. Her body sunk in the steamy bath, enjoying the heat. She felt the aches from her limbs dull with every second. The steam fogged the mirror causing it to look frosty. Tsubaki began to close her eyes as she sat in the water. Her hair soaked, and her body drenched. She let sleep consume her.
"Tsu! Look! She's walking towards you!" Blackstar exclaimed.
Tsubaki looked at the child waddling towards her legs. The baby girl stepped with shaking legs as she walked to Tsubaki.
"Come on. You can do it! You are the child of a God after all!" Blackstar proclaimed.
Tsubaki held her arms out to the child as she got closer and closer. Tsubaki admired the baby's dark blue hair and violet eyes. She watched the baby get closer to her. The baby grazed Tsubaki's fingertips before falling into Tsubaki's arms. The baby cooed and blew raspberries at Tsubaki. Tsubaki held the child as a tear fell from her eye.
"I won't let anyone hurt you." Tsubaki promised to the baby.
"Are you sure about that?" a blackened figure asked from behind Blackstar.
Tsubaki stood tall with the child in her arms. Her eyes widen as she watched the figure place a knife to Blackstar's throat.
"LET HIM GO!" Tsubaki screamed, covering the child's ears.
The figure slit Blackstar's throat and let his body drop to the ground. His blood pooled around the figure's feet. The figure laughed menacingly, scaring Tsubaki. Her heart dropped as she witnessed her lover's death. Tsubaki held the baby tighter and ran away from the scene.
"You can't run Tsubaki. You take from me and I take from you." The figure laughed as a snake wrapped itself around her body. The laugh echoed and Tsubaki couldn't escape the laugh. Tsubaki fell to her knees with the baby still in her hands. She held the baby close but realized the lack of movement from the child. Tsubaki slowly released her tight grip on the baby. Tsubaki dandled the baby in her arms, but the baby did not respond. Tsubaki placed her ear to the little girl's chest and heard emptiness. Tsubaki's tears ran furiously down her face.
"No!" Tsubaki cried as she held the lifeless child in her arms.
Tsubaki jumped as she woke from the nightmare. She checked her surroundings and quickly concluded that she was still in the tub. The dream gave her the raging fantods. She felt sick to her stomach. She climbed out the bath and quickly wrapped herself in a bathrobe. She footed to the living room to see Blackstar still glued to the television. Blackstar felt Tsubaki's presence and switched his gaze from the TV to her. Her facial expression worried him, and he crinkled his brows in confusion.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Blackstar asked his dripping wife.
"I had a nightmare. Arachne is dead, right?" Tsubaki asked her husband as she got closer to his seated figure.
"Kid said they caught her and executed her about a month after the incident. What's going on, Tsu?"
"Did she have family? Or someone close to her?" Tsubaki pestered.
"Yeah. Tsubaki, it's been five years since that's happened. What's wrong?" Blackstar stood tall.
"A woman in my dream said, 'You take from me and I take from you.' She had some large snake around her, as well." Tsubaki explained recalling the terrifying image.
"Shit. This isn't good at all!" Blackstar sighed in frustration as he ran his fingers through his hair.
"What? What's wrong?" Tsubaki asked speed walking to her husband's side.
"We need to talk. I don't think we are safe anymore."
I felt like writing and for some reason, I couldn't get this story out of my head. I don't know if I'll write a spin-off or a second season of the story. On the other hand, I couldn't sleep until this was written. There's many grammatical errors, but it is readable. Anyway, see ya later!
