"Now then, let's check out the state of the world…" Grandpa says.
Grandpa just finished sweeping and is reading the newspapers. "Hmm" He looks closer at an article with interest. "What's this? Foot-and-mouth disease is an infantile illness? Can't use this. Hmm…" He looks at another article. "Have I used up all the illness as excuses when Kimiko is in the other time?"
Kimiko dashes towards the house in the background with Yukina on her shoulder. "Hello Gramps!"
Gramps makes a grunt in acknowledgement, still engrossed with the papers.
A mother and her child are walking by. She sneezes.
"Mommy, are you all right?" The Child asks concerned.
"This year's colds are nasty. I should've worn a mask today." The Mother replies.
"Huh? That's it!" Grandpa declares in a Eureka-I've-Got-It-manner.
Kimiko dashes out of the house with Yukina running next to her. "Bye Gramps!"
"Okay… watch out for cars." Grandfather says in a gentle grandfatherly tone. He goes back to his papers, pauses and yells. "Huh?! Hey
Kimiko!" He runs to the stairs with a broom with his hand. "Where are you off to?!"
"School… where else?" Keiko answered.
Grandpa is furious and clenches his fist. "Dang it! I thought up a good illness! Impertinent child!"
"What is Grandpa talking about?" Keiko wonders.

Kimiko And Kagome's School
"Oh no! I forgot my math book!" Kimiko exclaims frustrated.
"What're you doing, Kimiko?" Eri questions looking at Yukina who was now on Kimiko's head with a red bow on her tails to make it look like one.
"Hurry and borrow a book from the class next door." Kimiko tells her sister deciding to ignore Yukina for now.
"I forgot my language, science and history books too!" Kimiko sighed out.
"You finally come to class and you're a mess!" Eri sighs.
"MY writing instruments are in the Feudal Era!" Kimiko says to herself and Yukina.
The teacher slides open door and holds up a green sack. "Is Kimiko Higurashi here? And what's with the cat?"
"Yukina is my therapeutic cat my grandfather bought me. She doesn't like to be far from me." Kimiko explained.
The textbooks were the green sack.
"Kimiko, they're things you forgot!" Ayumi exclaimed.
"Your younger brother just dropped them off. He said to pardon you for being so forgetful lately." The teacher tells them.
Kimiko is embarrassed by the remark, while the class giggles.
"Your younger brother is such a capable kid!" Ayumi praises.

During Class
"It's been quite some time since I, an average middle-school student, began going to the Feudal Era. In the Feudal Era, I have Inuyasha, Yukina, Miroku and old Kaede to help me." Kimiko thinks.
Kimiko, Kagome and their friends are discussing math problems.
"But here, with high school entrance exams looming, I have to manage on my own." Kimiko continues to think.

English lesson
"Well… not quite." Kimiko says to herself and reaches for a notebook under her desk. "I've been getting help in this world, too." Kimiko passes the notebook to Eri and whispers. "Eri, thanks for the notes. They were a big help!"
Eri takes notebook and whispers back. "Your brother Sota asked me to keep notes. He said you tend to fall behind in math."
"Huh? Sota said that?" Kimiko asked touched.

Flashback
Sota passing the green sack of textbooks to Kimiko and Kagome's teacher.
"My sister forgot this. May I ask you to give this to her?" Sota requested.
Sota And Kagome are walking home.
Sota gasps and turns around. "What?! There's a test coming up?" Sota speaks to Kagome and Kimiko's friends who are behind him and Kagome.
"Oh no! I'd better tell Sis!"

Present
"That Sota!" Kimiko thinks and smiles. "Good Sota!"

Flashback
Demon swarm charging towards Inuyasha, who slays them with the Wind Scar.
Naraku's castle is surrounded by ominous purple mist. A bee flies and makes a few circles, transmitting a message. In a interior of a room, where Naraku is sitting in the shadows. The bee flies off.
...
Present
"I see. Inuyasha killed them with one swing of Tetsusaiga?" Naraku muses and chuckles evilly and stands. "Rather than sending 100 demons, send one he cannot kill. Well, kill or miss." He looks at a further spot. "I intend to use you. Are you agreeable?"
Naraku is facing a silhouette outside the room. The screens turn a blood red.
"Are you able to move your body now?" Naraku questions.
"Yes, Master Naraku." The Silhouette said emotionless and soft.
"Can you kill them?" Naraku asked.
"Yes, Master Naraku." The Silhouette answered.
"Inuyasha, Miroku and Sango." Naraku said.
"Yes, Master Naraku." The Silhouette says.
...
Forest - Night
Inuyasha has a grip on Tetsusaiga. "Ready!"
Inuyasha yells and tries to perform the Wind Scar. Nothing happens.
"Huh? Damn! How do I extract Tetsusaiga's ultimate power?" Inuyasha asks himself.
Shippo is sitting on a tree branch behind Inuyasha. "Don't be disheartened. Even if it was sheer luck, you saved us all."Shippo lies back with his hands behind his neck. "Next time, just get lucky again."
Inuyasha turns around to face Shippo and swing his sword in his direction. "Tetsusaiga!"
Shippo shrieks in horror and leaps to another branch. "Hey Inuyasha! Do you want to kill me?!" Shippo waves his fists madly in the air.
"Is it luck, after all?" Inuyasha says to himself.
"Are you listening to me? Don't get lucky now!" Shippo shouts madder.
"Shut up! And quit calling it luck!" Inuyasha snapped back.

Campfire
Miroku and Inuyasha are sitting by a campfire.
"Naraku took the offensive. If he's keeping a watch on us from somewhere, it'll be hard to make a move." Miroku comments.
Inuyasha chuckles confidently. "It'll save us time looking for him. That bastard, let him come and attack anytime, anywhere!"
Miroku smiles and lets out a chuckle.
"Miroku, what're you laughing about?!" Inuyasha shouts.
"Sorry." Miroku apologizes still smiling and looks at his right hand. "I won't be able to use my Wind Tunnel for a while." He clenches it and looks at Inuyasha. "Hearing you talk with such confidence is gratifying."
Kirara and Yukina are curled up and sleeping by the fire.
"Well, sit back and relax. I'll slice Naraku in two with Tetsusaiga." Inuyasha says proudly.
Inuyasha is now sitting with folded arms looking seriously into the fire.
"I don't care if it's luck or whatever. If I have Tetsusaiga's true power, I can beat Naraku. I swear to master this sword… the Tetsusaiga." Inuyasha vows thinking and looks at the sword.
Shippo looks out into the woods.
"Well Shippo?" Kimiko inquired.
Shippo turns back to face Kimiko. "They're in deep conversation."
"Really?" Kimiko said but then turns to Sango who is next to her. "Let's go and bathe in the hot springs now."
Kimiko takes off her bow.
"I understand about the monk, but will Inuyasha take a peek, too?" Sango questions.
"No way!" Kimiko says piqued.
"Do you want him to look?" Sango asked confused and inquisitive.
Sango is stepping into the hot spring with a towel. Kimiko is already inside. A wind blows Sango's her hair to reveal a scar on her back.
"Those scars…" Kimiko says shocked.
"Yeah… they didn't heal completely." Sango answers.
"Were they from the demons?" Kimiko inquires curious.
Sango sits into the hot spring. "No… I got these scars from my dead younger brother. If only I had realized it sooner, I could have prevented it all.
Kimiko looks down. "I'm sorry to make you remember such bad memories."
Sango smiles. "It's all right. Before he died, Kohaku had reverted to his old self. I'm sad, but that has somewhat eased the pain. I'm a Demon Slayer. It can't be helped. Everyone else has a reason for being here, right?" Sango turns to Kimiko. "Kimiko, why are you gathering Sacred Jewel fragments?"
"Huh? Err… well, I feel bad about my involvement…" Kimiko sheepishly admits.
...
Later
"You broke the Jewel?!" Sango shouts surprised.
"I'm sorry. I really did something horrible." Kimiko apologizes guiltily.
"But you were trying to take it back from a demon, so it can't be helped. But you're the reincarnation of a priestess? Amazing!" Sango said amazed.
"I don't even understand that part." Kimiko tells her and holds up her Jewel necklace. "I can see the fragments of the Sacred Jewel. So we've joined forces to collect the fragments." Kimiko looks up. "With Naraku's appearance, things have gotten more complicated."
"In order to break the curse of the Sacred Jewel, we must first destroy Naraku." Sango tells Kimiko.
Kimiko agrees. Sango picks up a rock.
"Do you understand that…" Sango asks turning around and speaks sternly. "you over there?!" Sango throws the rock into the bushes.
The rock hits a monkey. It falls to the ground with swirly eyes and a huge bump on its head.
"Huh?!" Kimiko exclaimed.
"A monkey?" Sango questions confused.
Miroku and Inuyasha appear.
"Hey! What's the ruckus?!" Inuyasha demand.
Several loud thumps are heard.
Miroku now has a huge bump on his head and scratches around his eye, but he has a face on bliss. Inuyasha is also bashed up the same way. He, however, folded his arms with a face of indignation.
Shippo is sitting by the campfire with Kirara in his lap and Yukina lying down next to him. "For once, you were really talking seriously."
"Why'd they have to suspect me, too?!" Inuyasha asked pissed off.
"So what? That was a wonderful sight we just saw." Miroku says content.
Kimiko and Sango are by the hot spring drying themselves.
"Everyone has been drawn into the curse of the Sacred Jewel, but I feel most sorry for Sango, who watched as her father and younger brother were killed." Kimiko thinks.
It's day time and Inuyasha's Gang is setting off.
Shippo is in front of Kimiko's huge backpack. "Now then, time to go." He tries to lift it but only manages to drag it several steps. "Kimiko, what did you bring?! It's much heavier than before!
Kimiko is walking along with Yukina. "Uh-huh… I have a test next week, so I brought as many books as I could carry."
"You have it rough, huh?" Sango asked sympathetic.
"Miroku says you should just "flunk" or something like that" Miroku says.
"Not Miroku, too?!" Kimiko complained and turns to Sango. "My brother, Sota, who's only in grade school, says "If you repeat grades six times, I'll be in the same grade as you and I'll help you study."" Sango smiles and turns away. "What a cocky young brother, don't you think?" Kimiko realizes she shouldn't have mentioned her brother. "Oh…"
Kimiko looks at Sango.
Sango walks ahead. "He acts tough and he's cocky." Sango pauses. "Yet he cries easily and gets lonely." Sango turns to face Kimiko. "Isn't he a good boy, this brother of yours?"
Sango smiles.
Kimiko is surprised, then smiles back. "Uh-huh."
Shippo is pushing the backpack in an upright position. "Hey, someone's coming...
"Huh?" Kimiko asked.
The three of them looks ahead. A bleeding man trudges slowly towards them and collapses midway.
"Inuyasha! Hurry!" Kimiko yells.
Inuyasha's Gang surround a collapsed man.
Miroku is getting up from his kneeling position. "He's not breathing. Seems like an ordinary villager."
"These scars…aren't from a sword." Sango thinks.
Kimiko offers a prayer.
"He's not the only one who was killed." Inuyasha informs the group.
"Huh?" Kimiko questions.
Inuyasha glances sideways. "The wind is carrying the smell of blood. Not just a few… Many have been killed."
...
Devastated Village
Inuyasha's Gang rushes towards several corpses on the ground.
"The entire village?" Miroku asked.
"Hey! Anyone here?!" Shippo calls out.
"We must find out what happened. Let's split up and search." Miroku tells the group.
"Good idea." Inuyasha said.
"Hold it!" Sango shouts and bends down to pick up a rock.
Sango looks around and throw it at a nearby hut. The hut immediately explodes.
"Don't move! Traps are everywhere! If you make a move, the legs may be blown off!" Sango orders.
"What?! Even underground?!" Shippo exclaimed.
"Then even around the bodies?" Miroku inquired.
"Probably." Sango saild.
"What a cruel thing to do?!" Kimiko shouts appalled.
"Someone tries to help, and they're also blown up. So heartless!" Miroku says.
"Well, let's find out what this guy is planning!" Inuyasha said pissed.
"Inuyasha! It's dangerous to move!" Kimiko reminded but fully agreeing with him.
"As if I know how to stay still!" Inuyasha retorts.
Inuyasha sprints and leaps into the air. His transformed Tetsusaiga slices a hut, which explodes. The silhouetted person at Naraku's castle previously leaps out of the hut. He takes out a sickle and swings it at Inuyasha, who blocks it. The sickle returns to the mysterious person.
"Is he the one?!" Inuyasha demanded.
"A mere child…killed all the villagers?!" Miroku says in disbelief.
"Impossible!" Kimiko denies.
"That chain…and on his body…there's blood splattered all over! He's a vicious kid! Why'd you do this?! What're you up to?!" Inuyasha pointed out.
Sango is trembling in horror and disbelief, thinking. "Kohaku!"
"That attire…" Kimiko thinks and then looks back at Sango. "is the same as Sango's…a slayer's."
Kirara and Yukina meow and walks forward a few steps.
Sango looks at Kirara, thinking. "Kirara and Yukina are… But how…?!" Sango looks forward, speaking softly. "Kohaku… are you?!"
"Sango…what did you just say?!" Kimiko thinks in disbelief.
Kohaku turns around and runs away.
Inuyasha follows. "Halt!"
Inuyasha steps on a mine during his chase and it explodes. He is uninjured, but is thrown backwards.
"Damn!" Inuyasha curses and blocks a remnants of the explosion with Tetsusaiga.
"Kirara!" Sango called out.
Kirara leaps onto Sango's palm. Sango flings her into the sky and Kirara transform into her flying form. Sango leaps and grabs on to Kirara's neck fur.
Kohaku is sprinting through the woods. His back turns briefly to a Sacred Jewel witch is seen embedded. He runs into a barrier, into which Kirara and Sango also follow.
Inuyasha halts his chase abruptly. "W-what?! A barrier!"
Sango is giving chase on Kirara's back, in the barrier.
"Kohaku…I thought you were dead!" Sango thinks.
Inuyasha is leaping among tree branches, with Miroku, Shippo, Yukina and Kimiko on his back with Yukina in her flying form next to him. He stops just before the barrier.
"Damn! We're here! Hurry and get off!" Inuyasha tells them.
Miroku and Kimiko gets off.
"The two of them went through this barrier?"Miroku questions.
"Yeah…Kimiko, what you said earlier…is that really true?" Inuyasha asked her.
"No mistake about it. Sango called him Kohaku. Sango told me that her younger brother was killed in that castle occupied by Naraku." Kimiko explained to the group.
"And he had a Sacred Jewel fragment imbedded in his back. We've heard that one before." Miroku said.
"It's Naraku's same old trick, forcing Sango to fight when she was in total anguish." Inuyasha remembers.
"Then Naraku is manipulating Kohaku this time?" Shippo asks.
"Sango is probably aware of it. The barrier allowed only Sango to go through. I have bad feelings about this." Miroku answers.
...
With Sango And Kirara
They land and Sango gets off to face Kohaku. Kirara is hostile towards him.
"Let me see your face." Sango said comforting Kirara.
Kohaku takes off his mask. He looks at Sango, expressionless.
Sango gasps. "Kohaku…" Sango walks towards him, thinking. "You are alive! Kohaku!"
"Are you happy to see your brother alive?" A Voice questions.
Sango is taken aback by the voice. A silhouette of appears behind Kohaku. It turns out to be Naraku in baboon suit.
"It's been quite some time, Sango." Naraku comments.
"Naraku!" Sango yells.
Naraku laughs. " Aren't you going to thank me?"
"What?!" Sango questions.
"I salvaged your brother's life. When he was killed by those arrows at the castle, Kohaku's life should have ended. But I saved him. You should know this well, the power of a Sacred Jewel fragment. When you had it inside you, you fought Inuyasha better than evenly matched." Naraku explains.
"Shut up!" Sango demanded.
"So it is now Kohaku. He is able to stand before you because of the Sacred Jewel. If it is extracted, he will die. Understand, Sango? Kohaku's life is in your hands." Naraku says unfazed.
Sango gasps.
"Bring me the Tetsusaiga, Inuyasha's sword. Then I shall let Kohaku have eternal life." Naraku told Sango laughing.
"Don't underestimate me!" Sango said furious.
Sango gets ready to swing her Hiraikotsu, but is stopped by Kohaku's sickle.
"Kohaku, why?! Why protect Naraku?!" Sango asks.
"I've made him forget. I've erased all memories of you and of himself. A fighting machine has no need of feelings. He slaughtered an entire village. Kohaku has become a fine slayer." Naraku tells Sango.
"Why you…!" Sango says furious and dashes towards Naraku and Kohaku.
Naraku emits a purple mist, stopping Sango.
Sango covers her face. "Miasma!"
"You will bring me the Tetsusaiga." Naraku orders and the miasma grows stronger and explodes. "I will be waiting…Sango."
Naraku and Kohaku disappears with the miasma. Sango looks up to the sky in silence.
...
A silhouette of Sango and Kirara appears from the woods, walking towards Inuyasha's Gang.
"Sango!" Kimiko calls and walks to Sango with Yukina on her shoulder. "That boy…your brother…"
Sango is furious and interrupts. "He wasn't Kohaku!"
"Sango…" Kimiko trails off.
"Well, the main thing is that you returned unharmed. Sango… The one who laid this trap, the one behind the barrier, was it Naraku?" Miroku comments.
"Uh-huh." Sango answers.
"Then you must be exhausted. Let us return to the village and get some rest." Miroku says and walks off.
"Monk…" Sango says making Miroku pause. "Please, hold a service for the villagers."
Miroku nods.
...
The Village
Shippo is holding a basket waiting outside a hut. Kirara and Yukina appear holding a sphere in their mouth.
"This is the last. Amazing Yukina and Kirara…her experience in a village of slayers paid off. They sniffed out all the traps." Shippo looks into the basket full of bombs. "We'll have Sango destroy all of these later. Now then, let's go tell everyone about Yukina and Kirara's good work. Huh?! Yukina, Kirara…Where are you?"
Kirara and Yukina walk listlessly ahead.
"Kirara! Yukina!" Shippo calls out.
...
The Village - Night
Miroku and Kimiko are in a ditch. Miroku is shoveling while Kimiko holds a basket. Yukina walked over and sits next to Kimiko.
"What do you think, Miroku?" Kimiko asked.
"About what?" Miroku inquired.
"She said she met Naraku. I wondered what happened to Sango behind the barrier." Kimiko ponders.
"Probably that Naraku is one manipulating her brother, Kohaku." Miroku said.
"He tried to get Sango to fight Kohaku! Naraku is unforgivable!" Kimiko angrily rants.
...
With Sango
Sango is kneeling among rows of corpse.
"Sango can't slay her own brother. Let's leave her alone for a while. Until she's ready to talk to us about it." Miroku's voice says.
...
With Miroku And Kimiko
Inuyasha walks towards them. "How can you be so nonchalant?! He may be Naraku's puppet with a Sacred Jewel fragment, Kohaku's the one who slaughtered this entire village! If Sango can't kill him, I'll do it in one swing!" Inuyasha looks into distance and shouts. "Hey Sango! Any complaints?!"
Sango stands up. She turns around and gives Inuyasha the evil eye. She walks away in silent anger.
"Inuyasha! You are sooo insensitive!" Kimiko scolded as she chases after Sango. "Sango, wait!"
"But, practically speaking, what will we do? Kill him?" Miroku thinks out loud.
"Of course!" Inuyasha said.
"No matter what?" Inuyasha asks doubtful.
"Of course! Think about it! Naraku sent Sango's brother believing that we wouldn't be able to kill him. No way will I fall for that!" Inuyasha responds.
"Don't try too hard." Miroku says serious.
Inuyasha is momentarily lost for words. "Shaddup, will ya!? Damn!"
Miroku walks away from Inuyasha.
"I hate my role but I'll have to do it. Though I feel sorry for Sango…" Inuyasha thinks.

Flashback
Sango's happier time with her family. Her brother, Kohaku is practicing his attack.
Kohaku swings his sickle at a bowl on a pedestal. "I did it!" The sickle returns to Kohaku and cuts him.
"Weakling! Look at you!" Their Father shouts.
Kohaku's palm is injured and he grips it in pain.
A bird is feeding off Kohaku's bandaged palm. Kirara and Yukina leap onto his shoulders and rubs against his cheek affectionately.
Kohaku chucks. "Stop it! You two!"
Sango walking towards Kohaku. "How's the wound?"
"Sister!" Kohaku exclaimed.
Sango kneels beside him. "Rough, huh?"
"Can't be helped. I have such a long way to go." Kohaku said.
"But Father said that you're getting better and better." Sango tries to cheer her up.
"Really?" Kohaku asks delighted.
"Really." Sango reassured
"It's the first time Father praised me!" Kohaku said laughing and flicks bird into the air. "Feels kinda awkward.""
The bird flies high up into the sky. Kohaku turns around to face Sango and laughs heartily.
...
Present
"I made him forget. I erased all his memories." Naraku's voice says.
Inuyasha's Gang is sleeping in a hut around a fire.
Sango is lying on a straw mat with her back towards the rest, thinking. "Kohaku didn't react at all when he saw me. Has he truly forgotten all about me? No…He doesn't even know that Naraku is our sworn enemy and it vexes me that Naraku manipulates Kohaku! I want to take Kohaku back, away from Naraku's evil grip!"
Inuyasha is sleeping in an upright position with Kimiko cuddling up next to him with Yukina sleeping next to them.
"Bring me Tetsusaiga, Inuyasha's sword. Then I will give Kohaku eternal life." Naraku's voice said.
Sango gets up and looks at Inuyasha, Yukina and Kimiko.
"Steal Tetsusaiga…In order to save Kohaku!" Sango thinks determined.
