Sango reaches out her hand towards Inuyasha's. She is taken aback by her own actions and holds back.

"What? What am I doing?" Sango thinks.

The fire cackles and Sango is surprised. She looks in Inuyasha's direction to check if he was woken up by the noise.

"Sango, what's the matter?" Inuyasha asked waking up and making sure not to move to much and wake Kimiko.

"Nothing…Couldn't sleep. That's all." Sango lies.

"I'm gonna kill him, although I feel badly for you." Inuyasha told Sango.

"I already told you…he is not Kohaku. Kohaku…my kid brother, could never slaughter an entire village. I will deal with him and Naraku at the same time!" Sango retorts pissed but resolute.

Kimiko wakes, but Inuyasha and Sango do not notice.

"Is it that simple? He looks exactly the same. Can one hate and forget so easily?" Inuyasha asks.

"Don't underestimate me! I am a Demon Slayer! I don't fall for dirty tricks!" Sango snapped.

"If I were in your position, I probably couldn't do it." Inuyasha admits.

Sango looks away in silence.

...

Flashback

Inuyasha is sitting next to Kikyo on a knoll.

"Looks exactly the same." Kimiko's voice says as Kikyo is smiling at Inuyasha. "So he can't hate or forget."

Kikyo fires an arrow.

...

Present

Shippo is sleeping near Kimiko.

"Inuyasha is speaking of Kikyo." Kimiko thinks sad.

"Inuyasha…Be on your guard. We are surrounded." Miroku announced awake.

...

Outside

Kohaku approaches the hut with white demon orbs behind him. Hordes of demons surround the hut. Inuyasha's Gang rushes out.

"Kohaku!" Sango yelled out.

Miroku takes off the beads round his wrist.

"Hey Miroku! What're you doing?! Your Wind Tunnel isn't completely healed!" Sango demanded.

"Yes…but…" Miroku started to explain.

Inuyasha raises his hand. "Stop it, Miroku! Don't hurry to death for these small fish. I just have to go and get rid of their boss!"

The demons are raring to attack Inuyasha's Gang. Kohaku looks expressionless. He raises his right hand and the demons sprang forth to attack.

Inuyasha leaps towards the demon horde. "Go away, vermin!"

Inuyasha slashes away several groups of demons with Tetsusaiga. Kohaku sends a pallet in Inuyasha's direction, which engulfs Tetsusaiga. Kohaku leaps and attacks Inuyasha with his sickle. Inuyasha dodges every move.

"You plan to fight me with that level of skill?!" Inuyasha demanded.

Inuyasha retaliates, swinging Tetsusaiga at Kohaku, who leaps away. Inuyasha pulls his sword and drags Kohaku to the ground with the pallet chain which was engulfing Tetsusaiga.

Inuyasha leaps into the air, Tetsusaiga pointing at Kohaku. "Finishing blow!"

"No! Don't kill him!" Kimiko shouts begging.

Inuyasha, hearing, stops his attacks and Tetsusaiga stabs into the ground instead. Kohaku gets up and Inuyasha slugs him.

"Damn!" Inuyasha cursed as Kohaku was sent flying back onto the ground. "I'm easy! Way too easy!" Inuyasha becomes vexed. "It's okay to kill 'im! This is Naraku's trap! I've got to kill him!"

Kohaku gets up. "You're right. I deserve to die."

Inuyasha is taken aback. "What?"

Kimiko, Sango and Shippo equally shocked at what Kohaku said.

"I…I killed them all. Father…our friends…the villagers…I killed everyone." Kohaku says and looks up. "That's why…I deserve to die."

Kohaku raises his sickle and points the sharp end in his direction. He stabs his own back where the Sacred Jewel fragment is embedded. He falls to the ground.

"Hey! What're you doing?! What're you up to?!" Inuyasha demands shocked.

Kohaku reaches for the Sacred Jewel fragment, which begins to glow.

"He's trying to extract the Sacred Jewel fragment! That's why he slashed his own back…" Kimiko realized.

"Kohaku's life is sustained by the fragment of the Sacred Jewel imbedded in his back. If the fragment is removed, Kohaku will die immediately!" Sango thinks becoming worried.

Kohaku continues to reach for the fragment. Sango takes her Hiraikotsu and spins it.

"Stop!" Sango orders yelling.

Hiraikotsu hits Tetsusaiga which sends it flying into the air.

"Huh?" Inuyasha asks confused.

Sango catches her Hiraikotsu as it spins back towards her. Tetsusaiga lands in front of her, transformed back into its rusty state.

Inuyasha looks at Tetsusaiga, then at Sango. "Sango!"

"Sango!" Miroku exclaimed.

"Sango!" Kimiko shouts surprised.

"What're you doing?! Sango!" Shippo questions.

Kohaku runs off and takes off from one of the demons.

Sango looks at Tetsusaiga, thinking. "Is he testing me? Does he really believe that I will take the Tetsusaiga to him? I…I…?"

Kohaku looks at Sango from above

Sango picks up Tetsusaiga, Kirara sprints while transforming into her flying form.

"Kirara!" Sango called leaping.

"Wait, Sango! What're you doing?!" Inuyasha shouts agitated.

Sango is catching up with Kohaku, thinking. "I have no other choice. My only choice…My true desire…"

The demon horde transform into white light orbs and surrounds Sango. The white orbs combine into a huge orb, engulfing Sango.

Kimiko runs out of the hut with her bow and arrows and Yukina transforming into her flying form.

"Let's go, Inuyasha!" Kimiko said but sees Miroku, Shippo and Inuyasha frozen. "What's the matter, Inuyasha? Miroku, too?"

"How about it, Inuyasha?" Miroku inquired.

"I still smell it. That boy…Kohaku's blood is still here. It still reeks out it." Inuyasha told the group.

"Naraku is luring us to him." Shippo states.

Inuyasha is sprinting across the woods with Kimiko on his back and Yukina running next to him. Miroku is behind, sprinting with Shippo on his back.

"My Wind Tunnel is sealed and the Tetsusaiga was stolen." Miroku says.

"Who cares! I still have my fists!" Inuyasha snapped.

...

With Sango And Kirara

Sango is flying on Kirara's back. They land on a roof top in Naraku's castle.

"This castle…" Sango says as Kirara surveys the area. "Kohaku. Kohaku!"

Naraku's voice is heard from one of the buildings. "First, put down the Hiraikotsu."

"Naraku…" Sango says pissed and sends Hiraikotsu crashing into a rooftop.

Naraku is revealed in his baboon suit sitting calmly on a stair. Sango jumps from the roof top and lands in front of him.

"Good work, Sango. You brought me the Tetsusaiga, Inuyasha's sword, as promised." Naraku praised.

"Let me see Kohaku. Only then will I hand over this sword." Sango tells him.

A red light emits behind the screens where Naraku is sitting. Kohaku's silhouette is seen.

"Naraku! Turn Kohaku back to his former self! Right now!" Sango demanded.

"Killing me won't help. You know that already. It's all the fault of the Sacred Jewel." Naraku explained.

...

Flashback

The village of the demon slayers devastated.

"Demons desiring the Sacred Jewel attacked your village." Naraku's voice says.

...

Sango's father is falling onto the ground.

"Your father's death…" Naraku's voice continued to say.

...

Kohaku is falling with arrows in him.

"That your brother's soul now wanders…" Naraku's voice finishes as Sango crawls towards the fallen Kohaku. "are all because of the curse of the Sacred Jewel."

...

Present

"Stop this nonsense! You killed my father and comrades! Just because you covet the stupid Jewel… you did it all!" Sango yells.

"People die because of the power of the Sacred Jewel and people live because of its power. Do not despise the Sacred Jewel so much. Kohaku was revived because of the Jewel's power. The promise was to exchange Kohaku with the sword. What will you do?" Naraku simply explains.

Sango points the Tetsusaiga in Naraku's direction. "You despicable…! What promise?!" Sango leaps towards Naraku. "This is my answer!"

Sango throws Tetsusaiga at no in mid-flight. She clenches her right fist, tearing the cloth wrapped around her arm, revealing a blade. Naraku grabs Tetsusaiga and blocks Sango's impending attack. Sango attacks again, Naraku blocks and leaps backwards. Sango slashes at Naraku's baboon suit. It tears away to reveal black locks of hair. NAR lands a distance away. His suit falls apart, revealing Naraku's true identity.

"You are… the Young Lord of this castle!" Sango states confused.

"Kagewaki was a fine lord. He gave the slayers proper burials. Oh yes… I was the one who ordered your care." Naraku informed.

"Did you kill him?" Sango asks.

"Kagewaki Hitomi…But now, that is who I am…the lord of this castle." Naraku answers.

Sango leaps towards Naraku. "Damn you!"

Naraku blocks Sango's blade attacks with Tetsusaiga. He attacks Sango's blade, which shatters. Naraku cuts her with the sword, sending her to the ground. Kirara bites in Naraku's shoulder. Naraku, unflinching, lets out a miasma. It is too much for Kirara, who falls to the ground and transform back into its tiny form and cringes in pain.

"Kirara! What's wrong?!" Sango asked concerned.

"My miasma is stronger than any poison gas. Not even you, Sango, can withstand it." Naraku said.

A lock of hair around Sango's wrist while her blade was, expands and coils around her. It then disappears abruptly, letting out a miasma. Sango, shocked, shields her face. The miasma overpowers her, and her legs give way, making her kneel on the ground. The miasma dissipates. Sango gasps for air.

"How about it? Will you serve me in this castle along with Kohaku? I remember Kagewaki telling you "Return to the castle."" Naraku reminds.

Sango regains her breath. "Don't make me laugh. My only goal in life is to destroy you! I will avenge my father and comrades! I will kill you!"

"Kohaku, come!" Naraku commands.

Sango's face softens at the sound of Kohaku's name. Kohaku walks down the stairs behind Sango, dragging his sickle and chain. Hesitating for a moment, Sango turns around to face him.

Kohaku raising his sickle. "Goodbye…Sister."

"Kohaku!" Sango shouts in disbelief.

...

Inuyasha's Gang arrives outside the castle.

"The castle!" Inuyasha exclaimed.

"Is this it? This is where Naraku is hiding!" Miroku thinks out loud.

A scream is heard from the castle.

"Sango's voice!" Kimiko shouts worried.

"Damn it!" Inuyasha curses and leaps off.

...

Inside The Castle

Kohaku is slashing at Sango, who is crying in agony. She does not retaliate or even defend herself, however. One attack sends Sango to the ground. Kohaku retrieves his sickle-chain.

"Kohaku…Kohaku! Snap out of it!" Sango pleads.

In the background, Hiraikotsu throbs with a red glow. It jolts a few times, and yanks itself out of the roof, landing behind Sango. Sango hesitates. She reaches weakly for Hiraikotsu.

"Yes Sango… Kill him. Kill your brother with your own hands!" Naraku's voice said.

Naraku is glaring ahead.

"And then pray that you want to continue living in this world, that you alone want to be saved! When you kill Kohaku and you are bathed in his blood, the Sacred Jewel will glow brighter with the power of the Dark." Naraku tells her.

Sango reaches weakly for Hiraikotsu.

"The more sullied it is, the more beautifully the Sacred Jewel glows." Naraku compliments.

Sango is about to touch Hiraikotsu. Kohaku raises his sickle in preparation. Sango holds back.

Sango laughs in irony. "Kill you…? How could I kill you?"

Sango turns around to face Kohaku and walks towards him slowly.

Sango smiles weakly and gently, thinking. "I…can't kill…" Sango reaches out for Kohaku. "Kohaku…"

Kohaku expressionless softens. Sango falls on her knees and collapses. Kohaku lets down his sickle-chain.

"Sister!" Kohaku said softly.

...

Inuyasha's Gang reaches the scene.

"Sango!" Inuyasha yells.

"Sango!" Kimiko calls out.

"Kirara! Are you all right?!" Shippo asks.

Kohaku drops his sickle and falls on his knees. He looks at Sango, trembling.

"He made her brother do this?!" Miroku exclaimed.

"This is terrible…How could he?!" Kimiko thinks out loud becoming angry.

"Naraku… where are you?! Come on out!" Inuyasha shouts infuriated as he clenches his teeth and fists.

"The brother who killed his father…and comrades. His sister says she cannot kill him. She loves her brother more dearly than her own life. I do not understand how that can be." Naraku's voice says.

Sango, lying on Kimiko's lap, regains consciousness.

Sango looks towards a kneeling Kohaku, thinking. "Kohaku will regain consciousness in a little while…"

"Inuyasha, this is exactly what happened with you! Fifty years ago, with you…" Miroku said.

"What?!" Inuyasha inquired.

"He tried to make Sango hate her brother so that she would kill him. Then the Sacred Jewel in his back would become more evil. The same trick he used to make Kikyo and Inuyasha hate each other, and fight!" Kimiko reminds Inuyasha becoming enraged. "I can't forgive him! I'll never forgive this! Kikyo died so that the Sacred Jewel would remain dormant. In the same way, Sango refused to fight his brother."

Kimiko laughs slightly. "Naraku's such a fool! There's no way Sango would have done it." Kimiko softened her tone. "Sango is a kind sister who loves her brother."

Sango listens in silence. Fumes appear across the ground.

Shippo holds on to Kirara with Yukina next to him protecting them. "Huh?" The fumes increases. "A miasma!"

The miasma forms a ring around the group.

"Foolish mortals! Drown in this sea of miasma!" Naraku mocks.

...

Flashback

Sango's onversation with Kohaku.

"Father said you're getting better and better." Sango tells Kohaku.

"Really?" Kohaku asks delighted.

"Really." Sango said.

"It's the first time Father praised me!" Kohaku said and laughs and flicks bird into the air. "Feels kinda awkward."

...

Present

Sango struggles to get up.

"Sango, you mustn't move yet." Kimiko told Sango concerned.

"Sango, keep still! I gotta lot of things to say to you! So don't you dare die!" Inuyasha shouts to Sango frustrated.

Sango unknotting a bundle around her waist, thinking. "It's my fault." Sango pulls away the cloth to reveal a gas mask. "But…" Sango offers it to Kohaku. "But…"

Sango puts her gas mask on Kohaku, and places her hand on his back.

Kimiko notices the Sacred Jewel on Kohaku's back, thinking. "I know! Naraku has the Sacred Jewel fragment!" Kimiko looks around. "There!"

A pink glow in one of the buildings. Kimiko draws an arrow in that direction.

"Naraku! Prepare to die!" Kimiko yells furious

Kimiko fires. The building explodes, revealing Naraku.

Naraku is stunned, thinking. "W-what?!"

"Naraku, you are sooo…despicable!" Kimiko shouts in fury emphasizing the syllables in the last word.

"This woman…What is her power? With hardly any effort, she can purge the miasma…the poison vapors… This power belonged to Kikyo…! It can't be…!" Naraku thinks in disbelief.

Kimiko draws another arrow. "I won't let you go even if you beg forgiveness!"

Kimiko fires and the arrow emits a white glow. It reaches Naraku's chest and burns a hole in his clothes. It hovers, threatening to pierce through. Naraku is fighting its power.

Naraku looks at the arrow. "That is none other than Kikyo's sacred arrow! That means the girl is…!"

"She did it!" Inuyasha said impressed.

"She purged the miasma and located Naraku!" Miroku exclaimed.

Naraku grabs the arrow and flings it away. His head disconnects from his body, which immediately explodes and disintegrates into a miasma. The current of the swirling miasma threatens to pull everyone in.

Inuyasha grabs Kimiko who nearly got pulled in. "Kimiko!"

Miroku grabs Yukina who grabs Shippo's clothing. "Do not let Kirara go!"

Sango struggles to keep in place. "Kohaku!"

Kohaku is lifted up in the air, a red light surrounding him. Sango reaches in vain for him. He floats away.

"Kohaku!" Sango calls out.

Inuyasha's holds down Kimiko while the buildings disintegrates and gets sucked away. The castle slowly disintegrates.

...

Morning

Kimiko and Shippo wake up. Sango is on Kimiko's lap.

"The castle disappeared!" Shippo shouts surprised.

"It was a phantom castle." Kimiko said.

...

With Miroku And Inuyasha

Inuyasha and Miroku are already awake.

Miroku points. "Inuyasha!"

Inuyasha looks in the direction where Miroku was pointing seeing Tetsusaiga.

Sango's mask on the grass. Kimiko kneels down and picks it up with both hands.

"Naraku got away?" Inuyasha asks.

"Yes…I don't see any Sacred Jewel fragment." Kimiko tells him.

"I see…" Inuyasha says trailing off and returns Tetsusaiga to its sheathe.

"I'm sorry. I couldn't finish him off." Kimiko apologizes frustrated with herself.

"No need to apologize. Without you, we'd all be dead by now." Miroku reassures with Yukina meowing in agreement jumping on Kimiko's shoulder.

Inuyasha kneels down behind Kimiko. "Kimiko… I've never seen you so awesome before."

Kimiko is solemn, her eyebrows twitching in anger. "Inuyasha…we must destroy Naraku. No matter how hard it is. We must work together…"

...

Shippo is trying to stop an injured Sango from leaving.

"No, Sango! You mustn't move!" Shippo says worried.

"Sango!" Kimiko calls walking towards her.

"Sango intends to go somewhere." Shippo tells the group.

"Where in the world do you intend to go?" Miroku inquired concerned.

"I'm sorry. I cannot stay with you any longer." Sango apologized.

"Sango…we all know that you were being blackmailed by Naraku over your brother." Miroku informed her.

"That's why…!" Sango shouts and turns around to face the group) I will betray you again." Sango turns back. "As long as Naraku as Kohaku under his control…!"

"Sango!" Kimiko scolds.

"Sango, you intend to go after Naraku alone?" Miroku asked incredulously.

"That's the only way…" Sango trailed off.

"But that's… We'll all save your brother." Kimiko tells Sango.

"He's not an opponent one person can handle." Miroku reminds Sango.

Kimiko walks to where Sango is and kneels down behind her. "Okay? First, we must tend to your wounds."

"You…why?!" Sango asked touched.

"Will you stop yapping? Just stay together! 'Cause you fight well!" Inuyasha snapped annoyed.

"Inuyasha…" Kimiko said impressed.

Miroku puts his hand on Inuyasha's shoulder. "See? Even Inuyasha, whose sword you stole so easily, agrees. Okay? So no problem."

Inuyasha shrugs off Miroku's hand and shouts. "You make me sound like a half-wit."

"No, you're just generous." Miroku quips and places his hand back on Inuyasha.

"Sango, do you dislike us?" Shippo questions sadly.

"It's all my fault that this happened, and I may end up doing something like this again, and yet…" Sango explains.

Sango turns around to hug Kimiko and wails. She cries loudly without inhibition.

Kimiko strokes Sango's hair, thinking. "Poor Sango…How hard it must've been for her." Kimiko says softly to Sango. "It'll be all right, Sango."

Inuyasha's gang surround Sango.

"We're with you now." Kimiko consoles Sango.
