The Legend of Spyro and the doom of the ring

Chapter 2 rumors and the old forest

A hour after Bilbo left his nephew Frodo saw that the door was open thought that the old hobbit was still home but when he got there he saw Bilbo's old ring on the ground and Gandalf sitting by himself looking at the fireplace in deep thought.

"He's gone isn't he?" asked frodo sadly as he looked around for his dragon friends. Slowly Gandalf turned his head towards his young friend hiding his thoughts behind a tired smile. "Ah Bilbo's ring. He's gone to stay with the elves he's left you and suprisingly enough the dragons Bag End along with all of his possesions ." said the wizard as he gave a envelope for th ring to him.

"Your dragon friends have claimed one of the guest rooms for themselves and are now asleep." said Gandalf as he began to leave

"Where are you going?" asked Frodo

"I have things to do." answered the wizard

"What things?"

"Questions. Questions that are in need of answers." said Gandalf as he grabbed his staff and turns around "Keep it secret." he said as he left the young hobbit.

(Two years lapse)

In the Green Dragon Inn in the small village of Bywater was busy this time of year it was after Harvest and all of the hobbits in Bywater and Hobbiton were chatting about recent events. Meanwhile Cynder was busy serving drinks with Rosie Cotton while Spyro who after helping a local widow till her crops was having some soup and listening to some of the more elderly hobbits talk.

"There's been strange things happenin at the borders. Bands of men and dwarves going to and from the mountains." said the Gaffer as he looked at Ted Sandyman the miller and Farmer Cotton Rosie's father.

"And what about those strange lizard and cat people?" asked the miller as he took a swig from his ale

"They seem like good folk a little odd with using their names instead of saying "I" but they are very generous on Market day. Infact some of those cat people gave me a pound of sugar for fifteen coppers and that sugar made me feel like I'm only twenty again!" exclaimed Farmer Cotton.

While the men were talking Cynder and Rosie were now in the kitchen talking.

"So Cynder how were the children today. Did they behave?" asked Rosie as she washed a mug

"Most of them. Only the Took twins tried to play a prank on me but that ended when they found themselves in a mini tornado." answered Cynder laughing at the look on her face.

A month after Bilbo's party Cynder became the local school's teacher while Spyro helped out with the Shiriffs and farmers.

"So when will we start seeing little dragonlings wandering around?" asked Clarice Took one of the older housewives who helped out at the inn.

"Well..er...Spyro and I are going to become mates on our twenty-first hatchday." answered a blushing Cynder while the other women giggled at her embarassment playfully.

Soon it was closing time and all of the hobbits left either walking home or carried in wheelbarrows if they were too drunk to walk. As Frodo and his dragon fiends opened the door to their home they saw that the lights were out cautiously the trio entered the house when suddenly a hand grabbed turned Frodo around revealing the distraught and panicked face of Gandalf.

"Is it secret? Is it safe?" he asked in a fearful whisper.

While Frodo was searching for the ring Spyro went up to Gandalf

"Gandalf what's wrong?" he asked as the wizard brought up his staff every time he heard something soon Frodo came into the living room with the envelope and handed it to Gandalf who threw it in the fire.

"What are you doing?" asked Frodo as he watched the envelope burn up to reveal the ring Gandalf gets a pair of tongs and grabs it from the fireplace and blowing on it.

"Hold out your hand Frodo it is quite cool." he said as he dropped the ring into Frodo's hand.

"Do you see anything? Any markings?" asked the wizard in suspense.

"There's nothing...Wait there are some markings they look like some sort of elvish script. I can't read them." said Frodo as he moved the ring around.

"There are few who can. The language is that of Mordor which I will not utter here." said gandalf as he realized that his fear was true.

"Mordor?" asked Cynder

"In the Common tongue it reads: "One Ring to rule them all. One ring to find them. One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them." said gandalf in a grim voice.

Frodo soon started a pot of tea to boil while the dragons sat next to a table with the wizard

"What can you tell us about the Ring Gandalf?" asked Spyro as he looked at it with awe and slight distrust

"It started early in the Second age Celebrimbor one of the greatest elvensmiths of that age created nineteen great rings of power three for the elven kings under the sky they were the oldest and wisest of all the people. Seven for the dwarf lords in their halls of stone the dwarves had a great understanding of the mountains and metals that they mine and live in. Nine for mortal men doomed to die although the youngest of the races men are the most populous and resourceful of the elder children of Eru Iluvitar. These rings were created to protect the free people from all threats aswell as bring order and plenty to the land. But they were all deceived for in the dark lands of Mordor in the fires of Mount Doom the dark lord Sauron forged in secret a master ring to control all of the others and into this ring he poured his evil spirit into it. One by one the kingdoms of Middleearth fell to the power of the ring but there were some who resisted a last alliance of men and elves led by Gil-Galad, Elrond Halfelven, Elendil the tall and his sons Isildur and Anarion led their armies against the army of Mordor and on the slopes of Mnt, Oroduin they fought the dark lord. Victory was near but the power of the ring could not be undone. Sauron first killed Anarion by throwing a boulder onto him then he grabbed Gil-Galad and burnt him alive with a dark spell and then with his dark mace he slew Elendil. And in that moment when it seemed all hope had faded that Isildur took his father's sword and cut the ring off of Sauron's hand vanquishing him. But instead of destroying the Ring Isildur took it with him as a keepsake and he was slain by orcs while travelling to the northern kingdom." said the wizard as he caught the attention of his young friends.

"And then Bilbo found it in Gollum's cave." said Frodo as he looked down at it.

"Yes and for sixty long years it has been hidden but not now Sauron has returned. His orcs have multiplied his fortress has been rebuilt in the land of Mordor and now he is seeking for his ring." said Gandalf as he keeps a eye on the ring as if to make sure it wouldn't come alive.

Then Frodo picked up the ring "Then we hide it and never talk about it. No one knows about it right Gandalf?" asked Frodo hopefully

"I'm afraid not. I searched everywhere for the creature Gollum but the Enemy found him first and tortured him until he told them about hobbits and of the Shire." said Gandalf

"Then you must take it Gandalf!" pleaded Frodo but the wizard rejected.

"Do not tempt me! I would use this ring for good but through me I would become as evil as the Dark lord do not tempt me!" warned Gandalf

"Will either of you take it?" he asked his dragon friends

"I'm sorry but neither Cynder nor I can take it. If we did we would become as evil as Malefor or Sauron." said Spyro sadly

"What must I do then." asked Frodo ready to take up the burden

"Then we must leave." said Cynder as she saw the same answer in both Spyro and Frodo's eyes.

"Indeed you three must go to the village of Bree there I will take you all to Rivendell. You three should not take the main roads they won't be safe." said Gandalf as he helped them pack when suddenly there was a clipping sound by a open window.

"Everyone get down!" said Gandalf as he picked up his staff and walked over to the open window he strikes swiftly into the bush and there was a loud and pained yelp. At hearing the yelp caused the wizard to grab a stunned Sam and tossed him onto a nearby table.

"Confound it all Samwise Gamgee! Were you eavesdropping?" asked the angry wizard

"I was not dropping no eaves sir honest!" answered a terrified Sam

"Too late to be trimming the bushes isn't it?" asked the wizard annoyingly

"I heard raised voices." said Sam

"What did you hear. Speak!" demanded Gandalf making the poor hobbit flinch while the others smiled knowing that Gandalf was not mad.

"Nothing much really but I did hear something about a dark lord and a ring and something about the end of the world. Please Mr. Gandalf I didn't mean to. Please don't turn me into anything unnatural." begged the poor hobbit.

"No I have a better idea. You are to help Frodo,Spyro and Cynder on their journey." said Gandalf as he lets up Sam

"Me on a adventure?! HOORAAYY!" yelled Sam as he went back to his home to pack.

Soon the small party went to a small wood near Bywater "Be careful. The Enemy has many spies birds. Beasts and many men. Never put the ring on for the spies of the Enemy can feel it's call. It wants to be found." said Gandalf as he mounted his horse and rode away from the small band. Soon the party of four walked across the beautiful lands of the Shire until they stopped in the forest near a old tree for the night. While Sam was cooking and Spyro and Cynder were practicing their combat moves when suddenly Frodo came out of the woods with a grin.

"Sam Spyro and Cynder wood elves." said Frodo as he led his friends to a small clearing to watch the procession "They're beautiful." exclaimed Cynder as they listened to their song.
"Where are they going?" asked Spyro

"They're heading to the Grey Havens to take a ship to Valinor." answered Frodo

"They're leaving Middleearth?" asked Sam

"Some say to never return." answered Frodo sadly.

"I don't know why but it makes me sad." said Sam as they watched the elves walk away.

The next morning the small party left the woods and entered into a large corn field where they got separated.

(With Frodo and Sam)

"Frodo where are you? Frodo!" yelled Sam as he lost sight of his master and friend

"I'm right here" said Frodo as he got in sight of his gardener

"Oh thank goodness. I thought I lost you" said Sam as he walked near his friend

"What are you talking about?" asked Frodo

"Something that Gandalf said. "Don't you leave him Samwise Gamgee." And I don't mean to." said Sam as they stood in the middle of the field waiting for the dragons.

"Sam we're still in the Shire what could possibly go wrong?"Said Frodo when suddenly both hobbits were tackled!

(With Spyro and Cynder)

"Spyro how will we blend in with the population of Bree?" asked Cynder as they searched for their friends

"I don't know Cyn. Maybe Gandalf will use his magic and turn us into hobbits or humans."answered Spyro thoughtfully. as they walk they saw something that they thought they would never see again. "Sparx!?" yelled both dragons as the yellow light flew over to them.

Spyro! Cynder oh it's good to see you both!" cried the usually sarcastic insect as he embraced his friends

"Alright alright enough with the hugging happy scene over."said the dragonfly as he returned back to his sarcastic self

"What are you doing here bro?" asked Spyro

"Searching for you two of course!* said Sparx as he pointed at the two dragons

"Who else is with you?" asked Cynder excitedly

""Hunter and the new guardian of fire Flame and his mate Ember." said sparx

"Who are Flame and Ember?" asked Spyro

"Flame's Ignitus's long lost son and now the guardian of Fire." answered Sparx when they hear a loud "Get off of him!"

"The trio ran (or in Sparx's case flew) over to the noise and found Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin and from the corn stalks came Hunter the Cheetah and two large dragons one obviously the male looked shockingly like Spyro except he was a blood red and a fire orange color. While the female was very shapely and was bright pink and yellow with a gold heartshaped necklace.

"Spyro, Cynder!" said Hunter as he embraced his friends

"Well Frodo looks like we helped find their friends." said Pippin as he and the other hobbits watched the scene.

"We need to go." said Frodo as everyone got together.

"By the way why are you two here?" asked Sam as they got ready when suddenly they heard baying dogs and someone yelling

"You were in Farmer Maggot's crops again!" Sam yelled as they decided to run

"It wasn't much just a few carrots." said Merry

"And some cabbages, and those three bags of potatoes that we took last week, and those mushrooms from the week before!" reminded Pippin

"Yes Pippin I know. But the point is he's clearly overreacting!" yelled Merry as he dodged a dog that leaped at him.

Soon the group got to a cliff but Sam who was behind everyone accidentally bumps into them and made everyone roll down the hill at the bottom everyone landed on top of eachother.

"Well that was close." said Pippin as his face was near a pile of horse poop which if he had fallen a few more feet his face would of landed in it.

"Ooohh I think I broke something." painfully moaned Merry as he pulled out a broken carrot "Oh" he said embarrassed

"Gaah I have something in my mouth!?" yelled Ember as she spat out a very drenched Sparx

"Pleww yuck yuck!" complained Sparx as he flew around

"Trust a Brandybuck and a Took!" complained Sam as he wiped away the dirt

"It was a shortcut" said Merry as he helped up his cousin

"A shortcut to what?" asked Sam.

"Mushrooms!" yelled Pippin as he knocked over Spyro with Sam and Merry behind him both hobbits knocking him down

"Strange creatures." said Flame as he stood up but found out that he broke his wing"Gaahh!" he yelled in pain.

"Flame are you alright?" asked his mate in concern

meanwhile Frodo looked at the road cautiously feeling something coming. "I think we should get off of the road." he said warily but no one listens but suddenly a great wailing scream comes from the wooded forest. "Everyone off the road quick!"

the group jumps down a small hill and hide in the woods and just in time for soon there was a black horse walking down the road and on it was a rider dressed in black funeral robes while the horse itself looked emaciated and bloody from infected wounds the rider leapt down from his steed his steel boots making a loud clang the rider then knelt right above the group and started sniffing like a wolf for a rabbit
as he sniffed the insects fled in terror of the rider as he kept looking for something. Frodo soon started reaching for the Ring until he was stopped by Sam and Cynder while Pippin threw the bag of mushrooms far away making the rider to jump up and chase the sound with a shrill scream allowing the hobbits, dragons, cheetah and dragonfly to flee deeper into the woods. Once the group stopped Merry who catches sight of the ring points to it "What's that?!" he asked breathlessly. "It's a dangerous ring Merry." answered Spyro as he informed the others about the One ring.

"That's just great another wacky adventure but instead of having to beat a evil dragon girl of evil or the world's ugliest ape or Malefor. We now have to take a "Magical" ring to a old guy who must be so high that he must also think that he's a super villain that has the power to control metal with his mind." said Sparx but everyone ignores him

"We'll go with you." said Flame and Ember as they got up

"So will I." said Hunter as he put a splint on Flame's wing

"We are with you cousin through thick and thin to the bitter end!" announced Merry and Pippin

"Thank you everyone." said Frodo as the group started walking towards into the night.

The hobbits and avalarians soon stopped in a small wood keeping eyes out for blackriders. "We need to get to Bree everyone." said Frodo as they hid from another rider

"Right. Buckleberry Ferry follow me everyone!" said Merry as he and the others ran to a small raft. They were about halfway there when a blackrider burst through the bushes screaming at the group with a banshee like wail.

"Everyone get to that raft!" said Flame as he shot a fireball at the wraith nearly hitting it but it missed and hit the tree next to it "Why do you dare to betray your creator Lizard?" said the rider in a raspy voice with much hatred and evil.
"He's not my creator." said flame as he shot another fireball and giving the others time to escape the riders hissed and screamed at the dragons as they and the crowded raft left the small dock.

"How far until the nearest crossing?" asked Frodo as they watched four more riders join with the one that had followed them

"The Brandywine Bridge. Twenty miles." said Merry as he rowed the the raft "But I know a shortcut through the Old Forest." he said as he moved the raft to the south east

"But Merry your father said that we can't enter it not since the trees tried to kill us." said Pippin

"We'll make sure we stay on the path." Said merry as they neared the secret crossing

once they got off the raft the group looked on into the woods. "Oi...And I thought that the old forbidden forest back home gave me the hibbi jibbies." said Sparx as they wandered through the forest

as the group wandered through the twisting and winding path of the forest some of the group started getting sleepy "Can't..take another...step...need sleep." said Pippin

"Over there under that willow." said Merry as he let out a huge yawn as he Pippin and Sparx laid down underneath it when suddenly two roots came out of the ground and wrapped over them.

"What sorcery is this?!" Exclaimed Frodo as he and the other raced to their friends trying to pull off the roots

"Sparx can you hear me?!" yelled a panicking Spyro.

When all hope seemed lost the group soon heard cheerful singing

Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo! Ring a dong! hop along! Fal lal the willow! Tom Bom, jolly Tom, Tom Bombadillo!

The hobbits and avalarians then hear a string of apparently nonsense-words followed by:

Hey! Come merry dol! derry dol!

My darling! Light goes the weather-wind and the feathered starling.

Down along under Hill,

shining in the sunlight,

Waiting on the doorstep for the cold starlight,

There my pretty lady is, River-woman's daughter,

Slender as the willow-wand, clearer than the water.

Old Tom Bombadil water-lilies bringing Comes hopping home again.

Can you hear him singing?

Hey! Come merry dol! derry dol! and merry-o! Goldberry, Goldberry, merry yellow berry-o!

Poor old Willow-man, you tuck your roots away!

Tom's in a hurry now. Evening will follow day.

Tom's going home again water-lilies bringing.

Hey!

Come derry dol! Can you hear me singing?

Around the corner came a small man dressed in a blue shirt and brown pants with big black boots and a big hat with a blue feather in it dancing a jig all happy and without a care in the world.

"Hello there good hobbits and dragons blessed ones of Eru What seems to be the trouble?" asked the jolly man

"Good sir that willow has our friends." said Frodo fearful for his friends lives

"Old man Willow causing trouble again? I'll put an end to that!" said the man as he walked over to the tree "You should not be waking old man Willow. Eat earth drink water go to sleep." Tom said as he slowly put the tree under a spell and released the hobbits and dragonfly.

"Tell me my young friends what brings you all to ol' Toms lands?" asked the jolly man as he sat on a stump

"We were heading to Bree before we were attacked by black riders and had to enter the forest." said Spyro as he watched the strange man

"Interesting..Come my friends you will stay at my home for the night and in the Morning I will lend you ponies to take to Bree." said Tom as he got up

"Alright." said Frodo as he and the others followed the man as he danced all the way home as he sung strange yet joyful songs.

Hey! Come derry dol! Hop along, my hearties!

Hobbit's! Avalarians! We are fond of parties.

Now let the fun begin! Let us sing together.

As they went to a clearing they found a cottage with a large bee farm around it and at the doorstep was a beautiful blond woman in a forest green dress whose voice sounded like a angel.

Now let the song begin! Let us sing together

Of sun, moon and mist, rain and cloudy weather

Reeds by the shady pool, lilies on the water:

Old Tom Bombadil and the River Daughter Goldberry.

"Welcome tired friends to the home of Tom Bombadil and Goldberry the river's daughter. Come stay and rest your weary heads and drink some mead." said the woman as she finished the song. As she led everyone into the house the hobbits and avalarians were amazed at the sights of the house how everything seems to be growing in the house as well bee houses in the odd house. As the night slowly passed by the group heard many stories about the creation of Ea and of the legendary heroes who fought against the might of Morgoth.

"What do you know of the tales of Avalar?" Asked Spyro

"I know a perfect one.. Let me tell you about Malefirious the first of your kind." said Tom as he sat near the fire

"Long ago during the voyage of Earendil the Mariner the mightiest dragon of that age Ancalagon the Black's first egg hatched revealing a purple dragon young Malefirious was thought of as a freak among the dragons of Morgoth and was promptly banished from Angband. One day He was found by a young elf girl known as Tauriel who taught the dragon the true power of friendship and brought him to Melian the Maia before she returned to Valinor. The Maia taught the young dragon the power of the earth itself, of the ice that covered the most northern and southern lands. Then Came the War of Wrath where the mighty Valar and the noble Maia including your hosts truly joined the Eldar and the Edain and dwarrow in battle against Morgoth it was a terrible battle but one of the heroes of that day was young Malefirious who suddenly learned the power of the lightning of Manwe blasted Nidvorrin scarring the wyrm and making him flee. With the blessing of Eru the Valar gave Malefirious and those dragons that joined him a land and they named it Avalar." said Tom as the group was amazed at the tale especially the young purple dragon. As the sun rose the next day so did the hobbits and avalarians feeling more refreshed than ever before after breakfast the group soon prepared to leave but were soon approached by the demi couple.

"A gift for young Spyro and Cynder." Said Tom as he and his wife presented them each with a wooden ring. "With these ring you will be able to enter Bree with the hobbits but once you leave they will break and the magic fails." said Goldberry as the dragons soon transform into two young humans.

Spyro into a young looking man with a lean figure with short blond hair and a small goatee and amethyst eyes. He was wearing a purple shirt and grey pants.

Cynder transformed into the most beautiful woman that the hobbits have seen, A voluptuous young woman with hair as black as night and skin like that of ebony with eyes of a pure emerald that would make a dwarf woman to envy she wore a red and black traveling dress with the straps down to her upper arms and with a small necklace with a jewel in it.

"Wow..You're amazing Cyn." said Spyro as he went slacked jaw

"R..really?" asked Cynder as she blushed bright red on her human face

"Indeed young Cynder. The bards of Avalar and Arda will sing of your human beauty as well as your draconic beauty." said Hunter as he mounted his pony. The party soon travelled through the the dark forest and into the foggy plains where they saw a few ancient tombs covered in fog. At evening the party soon neared the walls of Bree.

"Farewell good friends. May your journey bring peace and happiness to the world." said Tom Bombadil as he left the group and rides back to his home. But he stops and looks toward the injured Flame. "Before you leave allow me to give you this." He said showing a small red crystal

"A life crystal? But those are found in only Avalar." Flame exclaimed as he took it in his paw

"Ah true my red scaled friend but Ol' Tom has been everywhere three times a year." the jolly woodsman said as he crushed the gem and rubbed it on the injured appendage.

"Now then that gem is good up until the marshes so don't try to fly beyond that now Flame." Tom told the guardian as he rode his pony back to his cottage

"There's a swamp near here that Ember and I can hide in. We'll meet with you tomorrow." said Flame as he and his mate flew up into the clouds leaving the others near the gates of Bree.
