Chapter Forty

A few hours went by and we finally arrived in Blue Pegasus' hometown. We made our way slowly through the town as Laxus was still recovering from his motion sickness. By the time we had made it to the front of the Blue Pegasus guild, Laxus had almost fully recovered.

"Well, we better get inside and talk to Hibiki, and probably the others, before it gets too late. We still need to get to Amourose." I heard Laxus grumble as I mentioned the other town. "Doranbolt, I think it would be best that you wait out here." Doranbolt looked ready to protest. "We don't know how they'll react to a Rune Knight being with us as we ask for their help." He still looked like he wanted to argue but accepted what I said.

Laxus, Wendy and I walked through the doors, and I could swear to this, every single spot of the vast room was shining. Even the people. Speaking of...

"Ah, the dearest Fairy to my heart," I quickly recognised the suave voice, "It has been far too long since my eyes have seen something so beautiful."

My hand was taken in his, "Please tell me you've come to stay by my side for the rest of our nights."

"Hello, Hibiki." I retracted my hand from his light grasp, as the static in the air was getting stronger with every second, along with the annoyance and anger that was climbing my spine.

I looked to Wendy, Charle laying on her head, to see something similar happening with her, only the one showering her with attention was Eve, a small blush on both of their faces. My eyebrows scrunched together in confusion. Eve doesn't blush, and Wendy's never blushed from the attention of the Trimen before. At least, I don't think so.

"What are you doing here?" I looked to the owner of the deep voice, "Not that I care that you're here." He said turning away from me.

I giggled lightly, "Good to see you, too, Ren."

"We came to ask a favour." Laxus growled out before I could say anything more. I looked over my shoulder at him and smiled a little, silently telling him to play nice. Bixlow was chuckling into his hand.

Hibiki smiled, unperturbed by Laxus, "I'd gladly do anything for you, especially if it means seeing your lovely smile in person." He charmed.

I sent him my most charming smile, "If things go as planned, I'll be able to spend many hours with you later." I finished with a wink. Hibiki gaped at me like a fish out of water. It would seem these boys don't know what to do when the charm is suddenly turned back on them.

"I was wondering what that glorious perfume I smelt was," A shiver went up my spine at the sound of Ichiya's voice, my smile immediately becoming tense and forced, "though it would appear that my wonderful Erza isn't among you." I slowly turned to see him coming out of, what I would assume is, Master Bob's office, with Master Bob walking behind him.

Clearing my throat, hiding my discomfort, "No, Erza is back at the guild, it only needed to be us who came to speak to Blue Pegasus."

Master Bob walked towards us, his heels clicking lightly and the tiled floors, "Speak about what, dearie?" He was facing me, but I saw his eyes flicker quickly to Laxus. Not that I could blame him. A blush lit my face as I realized what my thoughts implied.

I cleared my throat before continuing, "We came to speak to Hibiki," I began, looking in thier direction, noticing they were still standing close and listening in, "to see if he coul find any information on a dark guild that Fairy Tail may have to go against soon."

Master Bob's face took on a dark look. "What guild?" I felt fear settle in my stomach at the sound of his voice, and I knew full well that the fear I felt was completely my own. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Wendy's hand quiver as she stepped closer to Laxus behind me.

"It's a guild," My throat had closed from the fear. I coughed, forcing it open so that I could speak once more. "It's a guild called Moonlight Reaper. It was a small, unimportant dark guild until recently when a new master took it over. He has a certain type of magic that allowed for the guild to gain a substantial amount of power."

"Why hadn't the independant guild, Crime Sorciere, handled it?" My eyes widened for a quick second. I have absolutely no idea. What am I supposed to tell him? Laxus came to my rescue the next second.

"As Lucy said before, this guild was unimportant. It had practically no power until only months ago, and now it's powerful enough that nine of our mages could barely hold their ground against only four of theirs." Laxus growled at the short man. I whirled around and looked to him in shock.

"Laxus," I hissed at him, "you are speaking to the master of a different guild. Don't treat him the way you would your grandfather." Laxus looked back down at me through narrowed eyes.

"I don't care who he is." Laxus' voice was low, and it only got lower as he leaned down to look at me directly in my eyes, "And it doesn't matter who if he's pushing fear, uncertainty and incompetance onto my guildmates." I don't know why I had never felt it before, but swirling in his eyes, and now in my chest, I both saw and felt a feirce protective nature coming from him. As I stared into his bright eyes I could only nod and stare until he broke eyecontact as he stood up straight again. I blinked before turning back to Master Bob again.

"I apologise for the the way Laxus spoke to you," I say, linking my hand and bowing my head, "but what he said is true. There is an unknown number of members of this guild, and we were terribly outmatched. I would need more time to explain fully, but we are in need of whatever information Hibiki may have about them." I lifted my head to see Master Bob with a blush on his cheeks and a dreamy look in his eyes, which were focused only on Laxus. I turned to see Laxus shifting uncomfortably towards the door.

I sighed as I looked back towards Master Bob, "He didn't hear a thing I said, did he?"

Hello, Muses. I know I've been gone for a long while, and I don't really have a reason for that. I still really love this story, so no need to worry about me abandoning it or anything like that, and to be perfectly honest, I just haven't been in the mood to write this story very much lately. Because of that, it can be expected that my updates will continue to be slow and sporadic.

So, as usual, let me know what you thought of everything, what you liked, what you didn't, tell me something you hope will happen in the story.
