Hello, my lovely readers. Sorry about the long wait. I'm trying to get caught up with my older fics. On with the show…
Chapter 7: Fairy Tale Crashers
Bonnie and Stefan had gotten lost in the woods. Again. On their way away from the castle they had been chased by a pack of angry dwarves, because they did not know who Snow White was, threatened to be turned into frogs by a witch and come to find themselves in the thickest, darkest part of the woods.
"It's cold," Bonnie said, shivering.
"I'm hungry," Stefan said.
"We're lost," Bonnie said.
"I hate the dark," Stefan said.
"I want to go home," Bonnie moaned before coming to stop in front of a little cottage. "Oh, shit!"
"Bonnie, language," Stefan admonished with a smile.
Bonnie scoffed. "You know what that is?" she asked, pointing ahead of them.
"A house?" Stefan replied, squinting at it before he made out what it was made of. "Cool. It's made of candy. Let's go get some."
Sighing, Bonnie trudged after Stefan who was trying to break off a piece of ginger bread. "Stefan, you can't eat that!" she reminded the former vampire.
"Why not?" Stefan demanded, moving the piece of ginger bread toward his mouth. He was so hungry, at that moment, he would have gone back into the woods and fried up Thumper. "I'm so hungry, Bon. It's just a tiny piece."
"Stefan, this is the house of the wicked witch who ate Hansel and Gretel," Bonnie snapped.
Stefan glanced from the ginger bread to the house and then to Bonnie who glared back at him. "She's old. We can take her," he told Bonnie before taking a bite. "Oh, that is so good," he moaned. "Come on, Bonnie. Live a little and taste this goodness."
"You sound like Damon," Bonnie muttered.
"So?" Stefan continued to eat while Bonnie kept watch. "See. I ate that piece and nothing bad happened. The witch didn't come out to try to kill us. We're good. Now, grab some food for the road."
Bonnie shifted from foot to foot. This did not seem like the best of ideas but she had to admit that she was awfully hungry. "Fine," she grunted before ripping off a piece of ginger bread and waving it at Stefan. "Happy now?" she questioned him when a voice called from the doorway.
"I see I have guests. It's been so long since I've had anyone come and eat with me and the two of you look like you're quite hungry. Come inside and I'll feed you, children!" the woman called with a wide smile.
"Yeah. We would, but we've got some things to do first. Rain check?" Bonnie called to the woman who took a step outside so they could see her long, black hooded robe better. Reaching for Stefan's hand, Bonnie started to run.
"Holy shit!" Stefan yelled as the trees moved closer.
"Come back here!" the witch roared. "You can't just take from me without giving back. Get back here, Silas, I'm not done with you!"
"She knows Silas?" Stefan cried, stopping for a second. "Maybe she knows how to kill him."
"No. No, Stefan!" Bonnie cried, grabbing Stefan's arm and holding on to him, pressing her heels into the dirt. "You can't go back. She'll eat you!"
"She didn't seem like a cannibal," Stefan protested. "Besides, she's right, we really should find a way to pay her back." He started to move back toward the cottage when Lexi appeared and hit him in the face with her wand, knocking him to the ground. "Ouch, Lex, what the hell?"
"Bonnie's right, Stefan. She's going to eat you. Now, stop with the do-gooder crap and get back to the Lost Boy's Camp. They're trying to fight off Captain Hook and don't have enough help," Lexi ordered, smacking Stefan in the head again for emphasis.
"Okay. Okay! Stop hitting me, would you, please?" Stefan rubbed the injured areas. "Who knew fairy wands hurt that bad?"
Bonnie smiled as she walked ahead of Stefan and Lexi. She wanted to find her Grams but it wasn't worth getting eaten by some insane witch in a cottage made of sugar. She would find her Grams later. Hopefully. "I wonder what Hook looks like," she called back to Stefan.
"Could be anyone," Stefan surmised, coming to walk beside Bonnie.
"He looks a lot like you, actually, only he has a hook," Lexi told Stefan who rolled his eyes.
"Of course he, does," Stefan groaned. "So Silas is here, too. Makes sense in a twisted way. I wonder who else is going to turn out to be here."
Stefan's questions would soon be answered when they arrived at the site of the fight. Kol was battling with Silas and it looked like he was losing. "Ah, look, it's time for your lady love to see the last of you, Kol. Any last words?" Silas asked Kol, shoving the Mikaelson brother to the side of a giant ship with the business end of a sword.
"I do not love any ladies. Or gentleman, for that matter," Kol denied the claim before kicking Silas between the legs and taking his sword from him.
"Oh, really?" Silas cried, removing a pistol and then pointing it at Lexi. "Then I'll just have to make do with your little, flying friend." A shot was fired and Kol screamed as Lexi dropped to the ground.
"Lexi!" Stefan cried when Lexi's wings began to flutter, violently, and she let out a moan while blood spread through the ground. "Lexi, no. Not again!" Stefan cried, dropping to his knees and gathering his friend into his arms while she smiled up at him.
"It's okay. Stefan, fight the good fight for me," Lexi whispered, her skin turning pale as she pulled out a bag. "Here. Bonnie, you'll know what to do with this when you need it. Good-bye."
Stefan began to cry when Lexi suddenly disappeared in a cloud of dust and he was left holding empty air. "Where did she go?" he asked Bonnie who knelt down and hugged him. "Where did she go?" he cried again.
"She's dead, you fool. Like you're going to be, if you don't get to your feet and fight back," Finn snapped, throwing Stefan a sword.
"Where's mine?" Bonnie yelled at Finn who shrugged and ran off.
"Sexists!" Bonnie yelled when Silas pointed his gun at her. "Oh, no, you don't!" she yelled, dodging behind a tree.
"Here." Henrick offered Bonnie a sling shot and a sack full of pebbles. "They'll annoy him more than kill him, but that's what Kol's for. It's his story. He has to stop Silas!" The pride on Henrick's face when he detailed the future of his brother's exploits made Bonnie smile. She had to admit she had always been curious about the youngest Mikaelson child.
"Thanks," Bonnie replied.
"You're welcome." Henrick grinned before turning to add his efforts to the fight.
Turning around, Bonnie saw Stefan boarding the ship with his borrowed sword. "Cover me!" she cried to Henrick before running after Stefan who was in hero mode or let-me-try-to-get-myself-killed-vengeance mode.
"Stefan!" Bonnie called but Stefan was already running up the plank and knocking pirates out of the way like bowling balls. "Stefan!" she tried again, when she felt someone grab her by the waist.
"Ah. What a pretty, little lassie you are." She felt a finger run down the side of her cheek and she cringed with disgust.
"I hate pirates," Bonnie snarled through gritted teeth before she slammed her foot down on one of the pirate's feet. She felt happy when he let out a groan. Freeing herself, Bonnie grabbed a piece of wood, to her left, and knocked the pirate off the ship, where he screamed and thrashed about. "Agh! Help me! I can't swim!"
"Tell it to Ariel," Bonnie shouted back at him before turning to find that Stefan had found Silas and Kol.
"Get out of the way! He's mine!" Kol yelled at Stefan who wasn't listening to him. "Go back to your own plot!"
"I can't! He killed my best friend!" Stefan yelled back.
"Lexi was my best friend!" Kol thundered.
Bonnie rolled her eyes. Why did everything have to be a competition? She wondered with a grimace while walking toward them.
"Bonnie bloody Bennett!" a voice called from behind her and Bonnie was momentarily distracted.
"Rebekah?" Bonnie cried, turning to face the angry blonde. "What are you doing here?"
"I've been asking myself that ever since I walked into the bloody Salvatore's attic, picked up a copy of Alice in Wonderland and found myself in this," she waved around her, "place."
"But why are you here? As on this ship?" Bonnie wondered if Rebekah was supposed to be a friend or foe in this part of their story.
"Oh. That's easy enough. My rotten brother, Elijah, not Nik, for once, got into this never ending argument with the dopplegänger, Katherine, not the other one, and I could not take it anymore. Suffice it to say, I was walking around the wood, and somehow came across this ship. Silly me, I thought they could take me back to Mystic Falls," Rebekah shook her head with an air of boredom when her eyes narrowed. "Is that Kol fighting with Stefan?"
"No, that is Kol fighting with Silas," Bonnie told her.
"Oh. So we really are in hell," Rebekah nodded as if that made sense. "Right, then."
"I will send you both off the plank!" Silas threatened Kol and Stefan, shooting at them.
"I think not," Kol said. Moving forward, he plunged his sword into Silas' arm, sending the pirate stumbling backwards.
"Not again!" Silas roared when Kol shoved him against the side of the ship.
"Good-bye, Silas!" Kol cried before shoving his enemy over the side. "Say hello to Croc for me!"
Rebekah crossed her arms when Kol and Stefan headed toward them. Kol was smiling when he saw Rebekah. "Sister, how good of you to make it," he called to Rebekah who rolled her eyes at him.
"I wish I could say the same," Rebekah snapped at him.
"Let's get off this boat. There shall be a feast tonight to celebrate our victory," Kol cheered and the Lost Boys and Girls cheered from the shore.
On the Shore Side:
"I've never eaten that much fish in my entire life," Bonnie moaned, lying on her back. The Lost Boys and Girls really knew how to celebrate as she, Stefan and Rebekah had learned in the last three hours.
"I'm going to vomit," Rebekah moaned, holding her stomach.
"Maybe you should have laid off of Yee Old Ale," Stefan commented when the blonde glared up at him.
"Mind your own bloody business," Rebekah spat at her ex who shrugged and continued to chew on a piece of swordfish on a stick.
"Help! Help me, somebody!" a voice cried.
Bonnie blinked into the darkness of the night. Their campfire was not close enough to wherever the voice was calling from so she couldn't make out who was calling to them. "Where are you?" she shouted back to the voice.
"In the water! Help me!" the voice called again.
"Surely not!" Rebekah muttered to herself, getting to her feet and swaying unsteadily.
"Hey there," Stefan cried. Getting to his feet, he caught Rebekah by the waist, holding her in place. "Move slowly."
"Help!" the voice cried again. "Please!"
"We're coming!" Rebekah shouted back.
"Rebekah?" the voice yelled.
"We're coming," Rebekah muttered as she led the way toward the voice.
The three of them made their way forward, Stefan holding Rebekah up with one arm, and holding hands with Bonnie with the other, so none of them would lose of their way toward the waves. "Help me!" the voice called to them.
"We're coming!" Rebekah reassured the voice.
When the sounds of splashing made their way to their ears, Rebekah was the first into the water. "Be careful," Stefan warned her but she didn't reply.
"Bloody hell. You're naked!" Rebekah gasped.
"Duh! Did ya notice the tail, too?" the voice asked.
"Tail?" Stefan inquired.
"Yes. I have tail now," the voice replied in an irritable tone.
Rebekah let out a laugh. "You used to have one. Just not like this. Oh, Hayley, you're a mermaid. And me without my camera." The sound of Rebekah falling into the water with a splash and emitting another laugh sounded in the dark.
"Can I get a shirt? Please?" Hayley demanded and then she snapped. "Hey! Watch the seashells!"
"Sorry. It's dark out here!" Stefan protested.
"Yeah. I think we've all heard that one before," Bonnie said and all of the women began to laugh while Stefan continued to apologize for violating people's personal regions.
"Now you've got your hand on my tail!" Hayley cried.
"No, that's me!" Rebekah retorted.
"Who did you think I was talking to?" Hayley snapped.
Bonnie shook her head. It looked like they were never leaving but everyone they had ever met was coming in.
