Chapter 10: Walk the Plank
"This is not happening," Caroline complained. In answer to her comment, the tip of a sword poked her in the back. "Ouch. Be careful with that thing!" she snapped, turning around to glare at the pirate behind her.
"Why don't you try being careful where you put your fangs?" the pirate snarled in return.
Gulping, Caroline remembered the witch she had killed to save Bonnie's life. Of course, everyone they'd ever known, and harmed, seemed to be popping up to seek revenge.
"Do you know that pirate, Blondie?" Damon snapped, nudging her with his elbow.
"Caroline killed her," Bonnie hissed, narrowing her eyes at Damon.
Damon nodded, offering Caroline a look of grudging respect. "Huh. I forgot about that."
"Shut up, Salvatore," Klaus snarled behind them.
"I would, but I know how much you love the sound of it," Damon retorted, raising his eyebrows and grinning at Klaus.
"Would all of you shut the hell up?" Hayley shouted at them, clinging to Elijah's jacket, her fin flipping around.
"Oh, go take a swim, Tuna," Damon retorted.
Hayley looked like she was about to launch herself at Damon when Stefan groaned, holding his stomach. "I'm so hungry. Even Hayley's beginning to look appetizing."
"Ew," Caroline groaned, wrinkling her nose.
Damon opened his mouth when Bonnie slapped his shoulder. "Don't. Just don't."
Shrugging, Damon continued along the path. "You don't even know what I was going to say," Damon retorted, narrowing his eyes at the witch.
Shaking her head at Damon, Bonnie looked like she might lose it. Caroline knew if Bonnie lost it, there was no telling how much longer the rest of them would last. They needed to think of a plan, and fast, before they were all fed to that big, old crocodile who wanted to eat Captain Hook, or Silas, in this case.
"Don't worry, Kol'll show up and rescue us," Stefan said. "And I really hope he brings some food with him."
"Is there anything you want, other than food?" Klaus grumbled. Caroline could tell he seriously hated not being able to take these pirates out, and she had to admit, she could sympathize. She felt pretty useless in her current state. Being a wolf sucked. She had no control of when she turned or what she did when she did it. Weren't fairy tales supposed to teach you something, because Caroline felt like she was being taught zilch, here.
Caroline's thoughts were interrupted when they arrived in front of a massive boat. "Oh, no!" she cried, feeling nervous.
"Oh, yes!" Silas cried, standing on a gangway. "Don't be shy! Come aboard!" he called to them with a smile, tipping his wide brimmed hat at them with a hook.
"Seriously!" Caroline looked at Bonnie who shook her head.
"We just can't catch a break," Bonnie added, falling into step beside Caroline. "At least we have each other."
"But what about Elena?" Caroline looked over her shoulder. "I mean, what if we die here, and come back to our real lives. And she's stuck here, all alone."
"Elena," Stefan said and then he looked at Damon. "You two should finish you story. Find your happily ever after." Suddenly Stefan's nose began to grow.
"Stefan, your nose!" Caroline's jaw dropped at the sight of Stefan's nose.
Bonnie let out a laugh before looking guilty. "Sorry. It's just." Then she let out a giggle. "That's the only funny that's happened to us, lately. Other than Tuna."
"Stop calling me that!" Hayley shouted, wriggling in Elijah's arms.
"Yes. Everyone, do stop talking!" Silas shouted at them as they stopped in the middle of the deck. "All of your begging will not stop me from making you walk the plank!" He looked satisfied as each of them stared at him.
"Excuse me, sir. If this is about money, I assure you, the King and Queen will give anything for their son's safe return," Alaric told Silas.
Rolling her eyes, Caroline began to study the ship. If they could just get ahold of some weapons, they might be able to fight these guys off.
"I don't want your money!" Silas yelled at Alaric. "I want revenge. For this!" Silas shook his hook at them. "Kol Mikaelson is responsible for my losing my hand. And if I have his family, he'll come to rescue them and then I will make him walk the plank!" Shaking his hook at them, Silas grinned.
"Um. One second!" Bonnie called to Silas. "There's a little mistake here. See, we," she waved a hand at Caroline, Alaric, Stefan and Damon, "are not Kol's family. We kind of hate the guy. So, do you mind letting us go?" She offered Silas a smile.
Silas looked thoughtful. "Let me think about it…" He tapped his chin with the end of his hook.
"Alright. Find me the other family members and then your lives will be spared. Otherwise, you walk the plank!" Silas threatened them.
"NO!" the witch who Caroline had killed shouted. "She killed me!" the former witch shouted, pointing a finger at Caroline.
"Did your mother not teach you it is not nice to point fingers at people?" Klaus inquired with a smirk.
"Go! Find the girl, or walk the bloody plank!" Silas shouted at them.
"Get a new line already!" Damon shouted back.
"You! You're staying here!" Silas snapped and two pirates seized Damon.
"What? What did I do?" Damon demanded, struggling.
"You can't shut up," Bonnie groaned, heading for the gang plank. "Come on, Ric."
"But I must stay with the Prince!" Alaric argued while Stefan tugged him toward the gangplank. "Unhand me!"
"Hey, that's the Prince's brother!" Caroline snapped at Ric. "You should be nicer to him."
"The prince does not have a brother," Ric replied, sniffing.
"Now he does," Caroline snapped. "Try to keep up." She looked back at Klaus who shoved a pirate away from him. She silently promised him she would return with help, unless she ended up trying to eat her friends, again. Around here, you never knew what to expect next.

"Stupid Katherine. Stupid pumpkin. Stupid glass slipper," Elena moaned, rubbing at her sore heels. She missed her friends. She missed Damon. Hell, she'd even settle for running into Klaus right now. At least he couldn't hurt her. And where in the hell was stupid Rumplewood or Lockstiltskin or whatever his stupid name was.
"Why look so glum, dear?" Esther cried, appearing to Elena with a smile.
Elena glanced up at her fairy godmother, drying her tears with the back of her hand and standing up from the stump which did not do wonders for her back. "I'm looking for my friends, have you seen them?"
"Oh, I have seen many things, my dear," Esther replied. "Do not worry, Prince Charming will find you in good time."
Rolling her eyes, Elena sighed. "Okay. So, you want me to wait for him to arrive." She took a seat on the stump and tried to think of something better to do with her time.
Then Rumplelockwood popped up. "Hello, dearie," he cried, waving his green fingers at Elena and then he noticed Esther. "Oh, you!" he groaned, sniffing the air like something smelled.
Esther glared back at the former Mayor. "What are you trying to do to this poor, innocent girl?" she demanded, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Nothing. Just trying to take her first-born and ruin her entire happily ever after," Rumple-Mayor-thing replied before he seemed to realize that Elena was right there and gaping at him. "You did not hear a word of that," he told her before he waved hand and Elena forgot what he'd been saying.
"What just happened?" Elena demanded, looking from the Mayor, to Esther who shook her wand at Rumplewood.
Letting out a hiss of outrage, Esther turned to Elena and waved her wand. Gasping, Elena remembered what had just been said. "You're going to do what with my firstborn child and you want to do what to happily-ever-after?"
Rumplelockstiltskinwood stared at Elena with outrage before he lifted both hands and her mind drew a blank. "What happened?" she cried.
"That's it!" Esther boomed, shoving her poof-y sleeves up her arms, she lifted both arms and leveled them at Elena who began to shake her head frantically, but she was too late. "Oh, dear," Esther sighed.
Elena looked down to note that she was pregnant. "What in the hell?" she cried, touching her belly and looking at Rumple-whatever who began to laugh and dance around in a circle. "You're not getting this one!" Elena shouted at him before she tossed the pumpkin at his head, taking satisfaction at it knocking him on his ass before she took off in a run.
"You're not the Gingerbread man, dearie, I will find you!" Rumple-crazy-baby-snatcher shouted after her, giggling.
Esther huffed. "Gingerbread Man? Really, this is a new era. It could be a woman."
"Oh, don't tell me what it is!" Rumple retorted and they continued to argue while Elena made her way through the forest and ran right into a man who looked super confused. "Help me!" Elena begged.
"Sure," the man nodded. "Just tell me something first?"
"Okay," Elena nodded.
"Who are you and where are we?" the man asked her.
"I'm Elena Gilbert. This is a twisted fairy tale and we need to go. Rumplelockwood is after my baby," Elena said, taking the man's hand and dragging him along the path.
"Okay. You haven't happened to run into any Mikaelsons, have you? Like Rebekah Mikaelson?" the man looked at Elena and she stopped, frowning at him.
"Who are you and why do you want to know?" Elena snapped back.
"I'm Marcel Gerard and Rebekah's the love of my life," he said and Elena melted at his words. Stupid hormones.
"Okay. Well, I haven't seen her in awhile. But if we keep looking, she's probably around here, somewhere." Elena took Marcel's hand and they ran from the sound of giggles following them.

Rebekah groaned. Of course she'd spent so many years being locked up that it only made sense for her to get locked up again. Somehow she'd run into some mad woman, claiming to be her long, lost sister, Freya, who locked her up in a tower. Rebekah just hoped that this Freya woman did not harbor any kind of Elizabeth or Mary Tudor fantasies
However, given the state of her hair, which had begun to grow, an inch a minute, Rebekah thought she might know which tale she'd become a victim to. "Bloody ridiculous," she groaned, going to the window and peering out it. She doubted that Stefan, or Nik would be coming along to rescue her from her tower any time soon.
Might as well save myself, Rebekah thought grimily. She looked down at the steep fall from the top of the tower to the bottom. "Blasted hell," she muttered. In this world, she might die, or break every last bone in her bloody body. No, thank you.
Letting out a groan, Rebekah strode over and sat on top of a pile of hay. She hated this stupid tale. She hated the Mystic Falls Gang. She hated her family. She missed her niece. And Marcel. Handsome fool. Closing her eyes, she remembered every last bit of him and she concentrated so hard on him that she almost thought she heard his voice, calling to her, from somewhere near, very near.
Eyes snapping open, Rebekah ran to the window. "Marcel?" she shouted down to him.
"Bekah! I'm here!" Marcel shouted up to her. "What's the line?"
"Let down your hair!" Elena shouted to Rebekah.
"What is the doppelgänger doing with you?" Rebekah demanded, feeling a prick of jealousy.
"We'll talk about it later," Marcel replied. "Let's get you out of there."
"You probably have to go up to get out," Elena said.
"Here," Rebekah shouted, dropping her hair. It fell on top of Marcel and he fell down. "Sorry."
"I'm fine!" Marcel called. "Lady's first."
Rebekah cried out when Elena grabbed her hair and began to climb upward. "Stop yanking!" Rebekah wailed.
"Be quiet!" Elena called back. Soon she entered the tower.
"That had better be a Salvatore's," Rebekah snapped, pointing at Elena's baby bump and glaring at Marcel when he came in through the window. "Or so help me, Marcellus Gerard," her threat was silenced with True Love's Kiss. "Never bloody mind." Turning to look around, Rebekah sighed. "When we get back, I'm cutting my hair short."
"If you get out!" Freya cried, coming to stand in the room and glare at them. "You're not supposed to be here." She snapped at Elena. "Go back to your own tale." She snapped her fingers and Elena looked to Rebekah and Marcel for help before she disappeared. "As for you two, what am I going to do with you?" she asked her sister and Marcel as the door closed and locked.
