Kagome sat on the lounge couch and let her eyes roam. It was not her first time in this apartment, but it was her first time being able to look around freely. It was minimalistic, which she attributed to Heero. Yet the few homey touches via wall scrolls, a TV, a small shelf with odd nick-knacks, and DVDs were Duo's touches.
Said person had invited her over for dinner. Yet he wasn't there, leaving her alone and feeling awkward with Heero as she sat silently. Kagome needed to figure out how to begin a conversation with him.
Yes, they were teammates and had been training (a lot) together, so they had been physical to the point of intimacy(at times).
"Your shooting posture is still too stiff. It causes your aim to jerk to the left or right. We will work on that tomorrow and more hand-to-hand combat."
Jumping slightly, Kagome turned to look at Heero. Her blue eyes met his Persian blue, and how he stared at her made Kagome shrink back into the couch.
"Sure, if that's what you want. When do you think Duo will be back?"
The slight lift of Heero's eyebrows and minute fluctuations in his closely held aura let her know he was displeased by her reaction or question.
"Depends on how desperate you are for me, Kago."
Twisting at the waist, Kagome saw Duo standing at the entrance of the short hallway of the apartment. She was unable to stop herself from smiling and sighing in relief.
Realizing what she did, Kagome peeked at Heero. His face was blank, like usual, as he stood up and went to Duo without a word. His aura was held more tightly to his body, so she could not read it. But she was pretty sure she offended him.
"Bags."
"Yes, yes, here you go," Duo said in a playful tone as he handed over the grocery bags.
Kagome watched as Heero went into the kitchen and began to press the food for dinner. It dawned on her that Heero would be cooking, leaving Kagome in shock.
"You'll catch flies if you open your mouth so wide."
Kagome felt her face grow hot at Duo's voice next to her ear.
"Well, unless you want to use it for something else. Something a bit more meaningful."
The loud click echoed in her head as Kagome snapped her mouth shut fast and hard. The Duo was purposefully teasing her(again) and had been since Miroku had spoken with innuendo, and Sesshomaru agreed.
"Duo," She said in a low voice as a warning.
"Yes, Ma'am," Duo replied in a teasing voice.
Kagome knew where he stood. Duo swung both ways and was very vocal about his attraction to her. And though flattered, Kagome wasn't used to being wooed, as Duo called it. She had always been doing the chasing.
The long conversation they'd had left her so red-faced she ran from him. Learning his preferences(especially sexual), relationship history with Heero, and Heero's preferences was a bit of an overload.
Yet Heero did not seem to be interested in her that way. He appeared less pleased about Duo's interest in her. However, they were not in a monogamous relationship but an open ploy.
"Duo."
The sharp yet low call from the kitchen had Kagome blinking and pulling herself from her thoughts. They're less than an inch from her nose, was Duo.
Twitching, Kagome jerked back while shoving Duo away. Only to hear his laugh of amusement at her violent and embarrassed reaction.
"Come clean and peel the vegetables."
The pout on Duo's face was cute as he got up to do as Heero commanded.
Shifting herself, Kagome looked at Heero and gave him a smile in thanks. The lazy blink of his eyes was all the acknowledgement she received, but it was enough.
The Duo was doing his best not to laugh aloud. During dinner, they'd played twenty questions, bringing to light that Kaogme did not like to lose. They'd played three rounds; Kagome won two by being sneaky.
Though her shock at Heero's cooking had been rather nice, of course, he had bluntly stated he'd learned to cook because of himself(Duo), making an offhand comment.
But now Duo enjoyed how Kagome and Heero were entangled as he spun the spinner.
"Left hand, red," he called out.
The muttered curses were like music to his ears as Kagome and Heero slid their left hands across the twister mat. Their bodies contorted so tightly that their chests were pressed against each other. Kagome bottoming.
One wrong move would have entwined legs and arms collapsing. And Duo secretly rooted for it to happen, as that would be very compromising. Already he knew he'd be pouncing on Heero after Kagome left.
Kagome was wearing an off-the-shoulder T-shirt and shorts bordering on daisy dukes. He wanted to be frisky when he arrived after grocery shopping. And Heero was wearing his regular green wife beater and black spandex shorts that left nothing to the imagination. It was a feast for his eyes and his imagination. Since Miroku was right, Kagome was flexible.
Flicking his finger, Duo set the spinner turning.
"Left foot, blue," Duo called out, biting his bottom lip.
He watched as they moved in tandem. Their feet go for the same blue circle. The moment they connected, it happened.
Duo sucked his breath in as their bodies came tumbling down. He swore time seemed to slow down as Heero used one arm to cradle Kagome and turned them so Kagome was on top. Their legs become even more entangled.
The dark blush accompanying Kagome's wide eyes and shocked expression as his body remained stiff was worth everything since Heero had a contented expression.
He watched as Kagome seemed to flee through the apartment's front door. She had promised to be at the training room by 8 AM.
"Heero."
His name was whispered in his ear as solid arms wrapped around his waist, making him relax into the embrace.
"You like her, don't you?"
Heero gave a soft grunt at Duo's question. It was obvious and did not need to be answered.
A low chuckle followed by a gentle kiss behind his ear had Heero reaching back and grasping Heero's hips.
"She's dense, so if you don't tell her or outright physically express yourself, Kagome won't ever know," Duo mumbled against the nape of his neck. "Though I think she likes you but doesn't know how to communicate with you."
Heero let go of Duo's hips and stepped forward. When his lover's arms loosened, Heero turned to look at Duo. The way those indigo eyes shone spoke volumes.
"Don't worry; I think after the mission, we can be very frank with her," Duo said, giving his trademark mischievous smile. "But for now, I need you to take care of a pressing matter you and Kagome caused."
Not needing any more prompting, Heero grabbed Duo's shirt and pulled him a short distance toward him before forcefully kissing him. The low throaty, and pleased moan made Heero reach around, grab the tie holding Duo's braid, and pull, releasing the long, silky hair.
Tonight would be a long night for both of them.
