Both teams were looking at the map too, knowing where to go after asking a few locals.
"St. Quirr is over here," said Cosette the Jumpluff. "We can just switch lanes in Ravensway."
"That looks right," Priscilla the Buneary said. "Let's go!"
Ten minutes later, two other teams decided on the same route.
Mike & Marvin: Team Strong Smart
Ron & Radonna: Flame Riders
"We're hoping that teams pick the wrong detour so that they waste more time," said Mike the Machamp to the camera. "It will give us enough time to catch up to the other teams."
Ron the Typhlosion said to their camera, "We're with Mike & Marvin, and we aren't last yet."
"Plus, Anathea & Chantallia still have a speedbump," added Radonna the Rapidash.
After another ten minutes, the last two teams took separate paths.
Sylvester & Danny: Haunted Housians
They were shown entering a train.
"I think we made the right decision," Sylvester the Shuppet said. "We'll need to switch twice, but we have less stops."
Wally & Audra: Farm Siblings
"Where did the boys go?" wondered Audra the Wynaut aloud.
"Did the train leave already?" Wally the Wobbuffet wondered too.
"That's not good," said Audra, worried that they're in last.
"When you're at the back of the pack, you wanna have at least one team within your vicinity," said Audra.
"It's really scary when you're alone and last in this race," Wally added.

Pete & Panth: Evil Scientists
"Let's go!" Delia the Ledian said as the train doors opened.
"Follow them! Mwahahahaha!" Pete the Parasect said.
Delia & Martha were looking for the exit to the Musiceum. When they did, they climbed up the stairs and could see the Musiceum from a distance. The building is a marble structure with musical notes as decorations around it.
"I see it," Martha the Meganium said.
"That's not it!" Pete said with disgust.
"Sire, you said to follow them," reasoned Panth the Porygon.
"Yeah, but I meant to follow them to the Crizzleton Mineyard."
"They're not going to the mineyard, sir."
"Nooooo!"
"We can switch detours if you want."
Pete growled in hesitance. "Fine! Let's follow them to the museum!"
"We're officially switching," announced Panth in his usual monotone.
«Musiceum»
Delia & Martha: Garden Girls [Sound]
As Delia & Martha entered the brightly-lit air-conditioned marble museum, they were briefed on what they should and should not do. The same goes for Pete & Panth when they entered a minute later.
Pete & Panth: Evil Scientists [Sound]
"Listen to this," Pete commanded Panth.
Panth wore the headphones and listened to the classical music being played in front of a painting of its composer.
Delia & Martha: Garden Girls [Sound]
"You do fifteen. I'll do the other fifteen," Martha strategized.
"Great idea!" Delia responded.
Delia said, "The detour was listening to a bunch of classical music and remembering the name of its composer. The tricky part is that classical music can sound very similar sometimes. You not only need good memory but also a good ear for detail."
"A good ear for detail sums it up really well," commented Martha.
Pete & Panth: Evil Scientists [Sound]
"Listen to this next," Pete commanded Panth.
"Boss, you're not listening to any of them," said Panth.
"I trust your memory. You can do everything," said Pete.
"I designed Panth to stock as much knowledge as he can, so it only made sense that I made him listen to everything and I had to do nothing. Mwahahahaha!" shared Pete.
"Boss, you know this is not how the race works, right?" said Panth.
"I don't care! Mwahahaha!" Pete responded.

As both teams left the subway, they had a bit of conversation when they were headed towards the same exit.
"Are you doing the mines too?" asked Anathea.
"Yeah," said Marian briefly.
«Crizzleton Mineyard»
It didn't take long for both teams to reach the mineyard. The Crizzleton Mineyard looks like a field for the most part, except the fields are scattered with rocks of different kinds. At the center of the mineyard is a big hole, where miners can go down to mine.
Marian & Ninja: Kick Heart Couple [Light]
"Okay, so we have to wear these miner outfits," Marian the Mawile pointed out.
Ninja the Ninjask got one for himself after Marian got hers.
Anathea & Chantallia: Science Sisters [Light]
"Let's do it," whispered Chantallia the Swablu.
Anathea the Swablu took out the express pass from their fanny pack. She and Chantallia both looked for the head miner and headed straight towards him.
Marian squinted until she saw Anathea give the express pass to the head miner. Her eyes widened and she gasped aloud in surprise. "You guys have an express pass!?"
"Yeah," responded Chantallia as Anathea was receiving the clue from the head miner.
"Awesome!" Anathea said as she ripped open the clue envelope.
Anathea & Chantallia: Science Sisters (1st)
Anathea read, "Make your way by subway to Crizzle University."
"I'm so pumped!" said Chantallia with so much glee.
"We won the express pass in Mario Kart World during Leg One, and we're happy that it saved us a lot of time when we bypassed the detour just like that!" Chantallia said.
"We just gave it to the guy, and zip! We were out of there in no time," Anathea said as she raised her wings in completion.
«St. Quirr Station»
They returned to the subway and asked for directions.
"So it's just one station away?" asked Anathea.
"Yeah," the local said while nodding.
"Thanks!" both sisters said.
They quickly made their way to the platform, seeing the train already there. By the time they're in the train, they hear the beeping alarm that signified that the train doors were about to close.
Anathea & Chantallia high fived at that.
"We just made it!" Chantallia said.
"Now we have a good enough lead to do the speedbump," Anathea said.

A few minutes after Anathea & Chantallia's departure from the station, three more teams arrive to do the detour.
Paul the Pangoro said, "We took the route with fewer stations, but the multiple switches put us in the same train as the teachers and the amputees, who were supposed to be after us. We just took a risk and it didn't pay off."
"The mines are this way," pointed Paul.
"Weehee!" Wibsky the Walrein exclaimed.
On another exit are the allied teams.
"Is that the Musiceum?" pointed Priscilla.
"Looks like it!" Cosette responded.

Delia & Martha: Garden Girls [Sound]
"I just need to relisten to a few more," said Delia.
"Take your time, Dee-Dee," Martha responded. "We got lots."
Pete & Panth: Evil Scientists [Sound]
"This one next," said Pete.
As Panth wore the headphones, Pete could see two more teams arriving.
"Grrr…" grumbled Pete.

Cosette & Marie: Grand Lecturers [Sound]
Both teams were briefed of museum rules before being allowed to start the task.
"It's a very cool museum," shared Cosette. "I've never been to anything like it."

Anathea & Chantallia: Science Sisters
"Sis, I think it's this one," Chantallia said.
The two watched as the doors automatically opened for them. The university's gateroom is made of marble, just like an ancient museum.
"I see it, sis," said Anathea as she saw the speedbump. Her reaction then changed upon seeing something else. "Holy cloud!"
"Holy cloud indeed." Chantallia read, "Surprise semi-blind double U-turn."
"This is a U-turn. There are a few of them scattered throughout the race, and it allows any team ahead to slow down any team behind them by forcing them to perform both sides of the detour. In this case, this is a surprise U-turn for not being announced in any of the clues, a semi-blind U-turn as the first team to use it will remain anonymous, and a double U-turn to give two teams the opportunity to slow down two other teams."
"What are we gonna do?" Anathea asked.
"We were prepared for our speedbump," admitted Anathea. "But we were not expecting a U-turn this leg."
"On one hand, it's still too early to use it in the race," Chantallia said. "But on the other hand, we had a speedbump, and we knew that we were most likely in first place."
Chantallia stared at the U-turn board blankly.
"Should… should we do it?" asked Anathea.
"I don't know…" said Chantallia.
They both looked around, then back at the U-turn board.
"I think we should," Chantallia said.
"Why?" Anathea questioned.
"Because…" Chantallia pointed at the speedbump board with their faces on it just a few steps away from them.
"Isn't it too early?" hesitated Anathea.
"Yeah, but we don't want to be eliminated because all the teams passed us while we're doing our speedbump," Chantallia reasoned out.
"Mmmm…"
"Come on, sis. I think it doesn't hurt to U-turn someone when we have a speedbump in the way."
They both looked at their speedbump board again.
"Sis, listen to me. We used our express pass because we know we don't want to be eliminated this leg. If we use the U-turn, I am ninety-nine percent sure that there is NO WAY we'll be going home today," Chantallia tried to convince her sister.
"But we already used our express pass," Anathea argued. "Shouldn't that be enough?"
"Yes, but we want to take the extra measure, correct?"
"I guess… so…"
"Come on! Sis, we have to, have to, HAVE TO U-turn somebody, then we'll be sure that we can't be eliminated."
Anathea was still hesitating.
"Please, sis?" begged Chantallia.
Anathea hesitantly picked up then browsed through the pictures on the U-turn board.
Chantallia asked, "Can you give me a yes or a no, sis?"
"I'm still thinking," Anathea said as she carefully looked at the pictures of teams. She stared into one for a long time.
"Sis, if you're thinking about doing it, just do it!" Chantallia continued to convince.
Anathea sighed. "Okay sis."
"Are we doing this one?" Chantallia picked up the picture from Anathea's grasp.
Anathea continued to hesitate, but eventually said, "Yeah."
Anathea & Chantallia officially decided on a team they wanted to U-turn. Chantallia put the team's picture on the first slot of the U-turn board. "It's blind so we don't have to put our picture. We're so sorry."
"We're super duper sorry, guys," Anathea apologized.
The two then proceeded to their speedbump. Chantallia grabbed the clue envelope then ripped it open, taking out the clue then reading it.
Anathea & Chantallia: Science Sisters (1st)
"Speedbump," started Chantallia. "Join the parade for Crizzle University's university week."
"Having arrived last at the end of the last leg, Anathea & Chantallia have now hit a speedbump, a task only they must complete."
The scene changed to Ryder holding an trumpet in a marching band uniform.
"In this speedbump, Anathea & Chantallia must join the parade inside Crizzle University to celebrate university week. Once the parade is over, Anathea & Chantallia may continue racing, hoping to make up the lost time."
Chantallia read. "Sounds fun!"
"Yeah!" Anathea said.
They entered the university and looked for the hall indicated on the clue.

Delia & Martha: Garden Girls [Sound]
At the detour, Delia & Martha thought they were ready.
"Here's hoping we get it in one try," Delia said as they entered an auditorium.
When they did, an orchestra played a classical piece.
"I heard this one," said Martha.
When the piece stopped playing, the curator asked them who composed it.
"Pagamoomoo," answered Martha.
The curator gave them a thumbs up, which they celebrated shortly before the orchestra played another classical piece.
"Bovivaldi," answered Delia.
The curator gave them a thumbs down.
"We have to start over?" asked Martha.
The curator nodded.
"I wanna listen to the songs again," Delia said as she and Martha left the auditorium.

"Did you get it?" Cosette asked.
"Negative," Martha responded.
Pete continued to feed Panth with music, while Cosette & Marie tried to remember the songs with Lawrence & Priscilla.

Paul & Wibsky: Ship Captains [Light, 1 of 7 lumiulites]
Both teams were working on two different sides of the mines. Paul & Wibsky were still off to a good start, finding one quickly. Marian & Ninja were pretty much on the same boat.
"I got another one!" Marian said as she picked up the orange lumiulite.

Marian smooched Ninja quickly.
"We're doing great, my Ninja!" Marian exclaimed.
"Yes dear," Ninja croaked.

"We're gonna try," Panth announced.
"Shut up, moron!" Pete called out as he slapped Panth's head.
"Good luck!" said Cosette.
"You can do it!" cheered Priscilla.
"Yeah!" seconded Lawrence the Riolu.
Pete & Panth entered the auditorium.
Delia told Martha, "I hope they don't get it yet."
Inside the auditorium, Panth was getting a winning streak. The pattern went as the orchestra was playing, followed by Panth guessing correctly.
"Dvorocow," answered Panth.
"Bulltok."
"Rachmooninoff."
"Straws."
"Moondelssohn."
"Moohler."
"Debullsy."
"Moozart."
"Bullthoven."
The orchestra played the last song for Panth to guess. At the end of it, the curator asked for their answer.
"Cowpin."
The curator gave them a thumbs down.
"Oops."
"Oops!? What do you mean OOPS!?" Pete reacted violently.
"Please try again," said the curator.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" Pete screamed in defeat.
Panth said, "We're gonna go again."
"Okay," said the bovine curator.
The orchestra played the first song.
"Bulloch," answered Panth.
The curator gave a thumbs up. The orchestra played the second song.
"Tchaicowsky."
Another thumbs up. The third song played.
"Cowagner."
Another thumbs up. Fourth song started.
"Cowland."
Correct again. Fifth song.
"Gershmwoon."
Thumbs down.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" screamed Pete once more. He hit Panth on the head. "I made you perfect with memory!"
"I have very good memory," shared Panth. "Unfortunately, I was struggling to remember some names and mixed up a bunch of them. It's not an easy task."
"Oh yes it is!" Pete argued.
"You didn't even do anything, boss."
"I gave you the earphones, you fool!"

The last four teams just arrived from the same subway. Little did Sylvester & Danny know that they were on the same ride with the other three teams but they were not in the same subway car with them. At the same time, they're the only team doing the detour that the other three teams aren't doing.

"Teams are still here," said Danny the Duskull. "I think we'll be fine."
Sylvester & Danny then entered the museum.

Anathea & Chantallia: Science Sisters [Speedbump]
At the speedbump, Anathea & Chantallia were getting ready for the parade to begin.
"I always wanted to try one of these," said Anathea as she wore a drum while holding two thick drumsticks.
Not long after, the parade began. Music filled the university as students marched a path inside the campus as some of them also played musical instruments. Anathea was given the drums because it was easy. Chantallia was given a fancier outfit to make up for the lack of an instrument.
"I'm feeling extra festive!" said Chantallia as she marched along while waving to the crowd.

"How long have you guys been here?" Audra asked Marian.
"Eh, not even an hour," Marian replied.
"When we got there, there were four teams still with us," Audra said.
"We were thinking that the other teams were on the other detour," guessed Wally.
"Wally, I found one," Audra said after hitting the first wall.

"Wow!" exclaimed Wally. "Maybe this wouldn't take long after all."
On another side of the mineyard, Ron & Radonna are digging for lumiulites too.
"Maybe finding one isn't too hard," said Radonna.
Ron kept digging. "I don't know how common these are around here."
Nearby are Mike & Marvin, also digging for their first lumiulite.
"What do they look like, son?" Mike asked.
"I think it should just look like an ore," replied Marvin the Machop.

Delia & Martha and Pete & Panth made an attempt each, and both failed yet again.
"We're gonna try," said Cosette.
Cosette & Marie entered the auditorium. The orchestra played the first song, and once it's done, it's Cosette & Marie's turn to guess.
"This song was by Foxgang Hamadeus Moozart," answered Cosette.
The curator gave them a thumbs up.
"Good job, Grandma," cheered Marie the Hoppip in a soft but serious tone.

Anathea & Chantallia have almost completed the course of the university week parade.
"Choo choo!" said Chantallia as if she was a train.
When they all stopped, one of the parade participants gave them a thumbs up, a signal in which they could now go back to the rest of the race course.
"Weeeee!" they both cheered.
"Let's get out of here, sis," said Anathea.
They went back to the changing room before returning to the gate where the cluebox beside their speedbump post was.

"Make your way by subway to Crizzlewood," read Chantallia. "Once there, search the grounds for your next clue."
"There are still lots of clues," said Anathea as she peeked on the cluebox.
"Maybe the detour was hard," commented Chantallia.

Cosette & Marie: Grand Lecturers [Sound, 9 of 10 correct answers]
The orchestra finished playing the last song.
"That song was composed by Goostac Moohler," answered Cosette.
The curator took out a clue from its back.
"YES!" said Cosette as she jumped up and down giddily.
Marie was also celebrating. She felt so anxious yet relieved at the same time.
When they exited the auditorium, their allies asked them.

Cosette flashed them the clue.
Lawrence & Priscilla were both clapping for them.
"We did the detour in one try, and we couldn't be prouder of ourselves for that today," Cosette shared.
Cosette & Marie grabbed their bags and read the clue outside the museum.

"Yay Grandma!" said Marie.

At Crizzleton Mineyard, the five teams were scattered around looking for lumiulites.
Mike & Marvin: Team Strong Smart [Light, 2 of 7 lumiulites]
Mike said, "Our progress is slow, but I think we're making good progress."
Marvin continued to dig.
Paul & Wibsky: Ship Captains [Light, 6 of 7 lumiulites]
"I got another one!" Wibsky announced in a sing-song tone.
"We only need one more," Paul said.
Marian & Ninja: Kick Heart Couple [Light, 5 of 7 lumiulites]
"We're almost done!" Marian said optimistically as she and Ninja continued to dig.
Ron & Radonna: Flame Riders [Light, 3 of 7 lumiulites]
Ron picked up the pastel orange lumiulite. "Babe, I found one."
"Nice job, babe!" Radonna responded.
Wally & Audra: Farm Siblings [Light, 4 of 7 lumiulites]
"We're doing surprisingly well," Audra said. "It's not too hard."

The curator gave them their next clue.
"Oh my gosh!" exclaimed Priscilla.
After receiving the clue, Lawrence gave Priscilla a hug, and she returned the hug too.

When both of them were outside the museum, they ripped open the envelope then read their clue.

"Crizzle University," read Lawrence.
"I'm proud of you, Lawrence," cheered Priscilla.
"I'm proud of you too, Princess," Lawrence responded back referring to his nickname for Priscilla.

"The train just got here, but there are no other teams yet," said Cosette.
"I'm worried about our friends, Grandma," said Marie.
"I believe they did well too," said Cosette.

Lawrence & Priscilla quickly tapped their cards on the turnstiles.
"I think it's here," said Lawrence.
"I see the train!" Priscilla said.
When both of them made it to the base of the staircase, they saw the train doors close.
"Uh-oh," said Priscilla.
"We just missed it," Lawrence stated.

Anathea & Chantallia: Science Sisters
As they left their subway, they were trying to find where to exit to get to Crizzlewood.
"This one says Crizzlewood," said Chantallia, pointing on a poster.
Upon getting up from the subway station, they could see an entrance to a small but fancy house along a street.
"Wow!" Anathea exclaimed.
"I wonder what we're gonna do here," Chantallia thought aloud.

Marian & Ninja: Kick Heart Couple [Light, 7 of 7 lumiulites]
"I think we have it," said Marian.
Marian & Ninja went to the head miner with their seven lumiulites. The bovine looked at each one, then took out their next clue from his back pocket.
Ninja received the clue.
"YEEHAA!" cheered Marian aloud.
Other teams began to look to their direction.
Marian & Ninja: Kick Heart Couple (4th)
"Make your way by subway to Crizzle University," Marian read. "Oh yeah!"
They began taking off their mining outfits at a designated area.
Mike & Marvin: Team Strong Smart [Light, 3 of 7 lumiulites]
Mike said, "Just focus. We'll get this done in no time, son."
"Don't worry, Dad. I'm focusing," replied Marvin.
Ron & Radonna: Flame Riders [Light, 3 of 7 lumiulites]
"I think we should move to another area," Ron said.
"I think so too," Radonna said.
Ron & Radonna then looked for lumiulites at another side of the mineyard.
Wally & Audra: Farm Siblings [Light, 4 of 7 lumiulites]
"It's been a while since we found our last ore," Wally said.
"But we're not giving up just yet," Audra added.
Paul & Wibsky: Ship Captains [Light, 6 of 7 lumiulites]
"We just need one more," Paul reminded. "Now if only we can find it."
Wibsky said, "This is getting tiring, but it's still fun!"

"That's the cluebox, right?" Chantallia asked.
"Looks like a cluebox to me," replied Anathea.
Anathea took a clue. She ripped open the envelope before reading the contents of it.
Ryder floated forward while narrating in front of Crizzlewood.
"Crizzleton's most iconic landmark is right here, at Crizzlewood. Award-winning films have been produced for decades in Crizzlewood Studios. Now, teams will get to experience the filmmaking process by partaking in an act."
"Teams will randomly draw from a hat a unique genre. Each team must then reenact a scene from a Crizzlewood film that corresponds to the genre they picked."
Ryder floated sideways.
"Once the director thinks their performance is award-winning, the director will hand them their next clue."
An anthropomorphic cow held the clue up with both hooves.
"Sounds interesting," mused Anathea.
The sisters enter the complex to find a top hat placed upside-down with race flags wrapped around it.
Chantallia put her wing inside the hat and picked out a genre.
"Musical!"
"We like watching musicals, but we're not… we don't have a musical background…" Anathea shared.
"Yeah, we're scientists, not musicians!" Chantallia added.
The bovine director tells them, "The film assigned to you is Frozen 2."

"We just missed it," Marian said.
On the train was another team.

"I don't know what place we're in right now, but I have a good feeling about today," Lawrence said.
"I think we made up lots of time on that detour," added Priscilla.

Cosette & Marie: Grand Lecturers
As Cosette & Marie arrive at Crizzle University, they take in the ambience.
"This is one magnificent university for such a small city!" commented Cosette. "It's good to be back in academia!"
"Grandma, look! There's a U-turn." Marie would have worried about their faces on the U-turn board if that wasn't the first thing she saw.
"Oh dear!" Cosette reacted. "I wonder who would do such a thing…"
Marie tried not to waste anymore time by picking a clue from the nearby cluebox.
"We choose not to U-turn," announced Cosette, before Marie ripped open the next clue.
Cosette & Marie: Grand Lecturers (2nd)
"Make your way by subway to Crizzlewood," read Marie. "Once there, search the grounds for your next clue."
Cosette said, "Look, darling… Anathea & Chantallia's speedbump is right here."
"Yes, Grandma. I hope they can make it past this leg too…" worried Marie.
With that, the two returned to the subway to get to their next destination.

"Moozart," answered Panth.
The curator gave them their next clue.

"YES! YES! YES! MWAHAHAHAHA!" screamed Pete.
As Pete & Panth were celebrating uproariously, the other two teams felt more pressure.

Sylvester sighed as he tried to focus, but Pete was just too loud.
Danny shook his head in disbelief.
Martha rubbed her eyes stressfully.
"We got this, girl." Delia took deep breaths as well.
Delia said, "It was very discouraging to see team after team pass us."
"We started in front today, and we just blew our lead over a tough detour," added Martha.
Pete & Panth made their way to the subway as quickly as they could. They then made it to the same train as Marian & Ninja.

"Looks like we got company…" Marian commented as she saw the evil scientists hop onto the train.

Before picking up their clue telling them to head to Crizzleton, they chose not to U-turn. On their way back to the subway, they bump into Cosette & Marie.

"I'm so glad you made it dear!" Cosette greeted the kids with open arms.
The four of them exchanged high fives.
As the train arrived, they saw two other teams jump off the train.

"My Ninja, quick!" Marian called.
"Yes, my beautifur…" Ninja followed.
"Hey fool! Where are you!?" Pete panicked.
"I'm ahead of you, boss," Panth informed Pete from the top of the stairs.
Marian gasped in surprise upon seeing a U-turn board, but she made the most malicious smile she had ever made, to her delight.
Before she was able to touch the U-turn board, Panth tackled her.
"Not so fast," Panth monotonously halted Marian like a security robot.
"Yes! YES! Good job, Panthy boy!" Pete said as he took a picture from the U-turn board. He then tried to look for another picture, only to realize it's missing.
"WHERE'S YOUR PICTURE, VILLAIN!?" Pete approached Marian violently.
"Let go of me!" Marian squirmed. "We haven't even-"
"We knew you were doing US!" Pete interjected defensively.
Ninja was hiding their picture at the corner in plain sight. He could see Pete holding their picture as well, so there was no way he'd be able to U-turn them either. Right now, all Ninja has to do is protect his team's picture from the enemy.
