A/N: As always everything belongs to JK Rowlings. Some answers to the doubts people were having.
Answers:I really appreciate your response on the current situation of the story Mr Naruto and all I ask is for you to be very patient with the story.Okay, so let me come clear about the whole scenario here.
First and foremost, we need to pay attention to the cards that are now in the play and the question that has arisen because of their existence. So, mysteries that have not been solved are:
1) Harry's Wand and what it is made of.That is going to be really interesting, I promise you!
2) Harry's Glasses and their purpose.
3) Harry's watch and its purpose as it is custom made.
4)Is Harry an Animagus? If he is, then what form does he take?
5) Harry's Instinct to know about the danger before it is imminent and how do we explain it?
6)And Above all, the Dreams. What do they mean? What purpose do they serve in the story?
7)And House Slytherin. We have just touched the smaller aspects of it. The older students have yet to make appearances because as Harry is getting older, the oldest are leaving the school which will leave some slots to be filled and let's see what they will ask of him to serve the House of Serpents. And who knows what happens in the shadows, right?
I may be leaving some small questions because they may be of some value or they may not like Regulus's late response (which is yet to come) to Harry's letter and him getting busier day by day.
So, here it is. If there is something that has not caught my attention please mention in the comments. That would be very helpful.
Another thing is that since we are picking the Fourth Year from Harry's life to begin the story with, we don't know what he has been up to for the last 13 years. So, if something comes up out of nowhere without any explanation it is so because I don't want you to read a whole damn flashback of about two or three chapters.
Some writers do that in the beginning of the story and I think it just sucks away the mystery that lies in the character's arc. That's why I give small snippets of the past between chapters and their paragraphs to keep the story engaging while explaining why something happened if it happened. I hope this helps you in clearing any doubts you have about the story so far.
I am very thankful for the response as I have mentioned before it helps me give the best story forward. Hoping to get the responses of everyone out there who is reading the story.
The Peverell's Vow
Chapter - 8: Dragons
Flashback
August, 1991
Harry stood beside Uncle Regulus in the wandmaker's shop, barely containing his excitement to buy his first magic wand and hopefully his……. last. He has been looking forward to this day for a very long time.
He had been watching since he got hold of his conscience how the adults made use of their magic by letting it run through their special wands. Not to mention how Dora teased him with hers every other day when she was at home from Hogwarts. Now that he was here, he couldn't bear to wait for a mere minute.
He looked around the shop and saw piled up neat small boxes in hundreds of numbers and he could only guess what lay inside them. But for some reason that he couldn't explain, Harry felt very cautious as the aura of the shop put him on edge because he could see that there was some mystery to the place while he surveyed his surroundings. Even the dust in the Ollivander's shop carried some secret in it.
Like a needle piercing a surface, a soft addressed them, piercing his thoughts." Greetings, gentlemen." Almost his whole being jumped out of Harry's flesh as the owner of the soft voice who greeted them materialized in front of them or so it seemed. Moreover, he could hear Uncle Reg taking deep slow breaths to calm himself. Harry took it as a sign that it was not only him that was freaked out by the unusual appearance of Ollivander.
Quickly gathering his wits, Harry made to reciprocate the old wandmaker's words but only if he was given the chance to.
"Ah…. Mr. Potter." The wandmaker spoke in his eerie soft voice, saying his name as if he was tasting and reminiscing the memories he could gather around in his head that regarded the name Potter." Yes, yes….I was wondering just a few days ago about your upcoming visit to my humble abode. And I see...the moment has arrived." He observed Harry with an odd smile while tilting his head like a bird as if closely examining him." Indeed, it has." Then he looked over Harry's shoulder while squinting his eyes to focus on the person standing behind Harry.
" And who do we have here, oh... Regulus Black! A pleasure! Maple, twelve and half inches, unyielding and... core of a dragon's heartstring. A Wand of an Ambitious Explorer. I hope it is serving you well." Harry saw Ollivander with odd expression on his face as if he was reuniting with someone.
" Yes, Mr. Ollivander. It has become a part of myself." Harry heard his Uncle's response."Good to hear that. The bond between a wand and its bearer is very special. It takes years for a witch or wizard to make a solidifying bond with their wand." Harry noticed that he spoke about wands in such a way as if they had feelings and thoughts of their own.
Amidst his thoughts, Ollivander turned towards Harry. "Come along then." He urged as he moved swiftly towards the small desk, betraying his old age with such agility that surprised even Harry.
" I assume you will be on your way to Hogwarts in a few weeks...just like your fellow wizards and witches before you? Of course, you will.Hmmmmm...It seems like only yesterday when your parents were buying their first wands here like yourself. Your mother, Lily Evans, I believe was chosen by the wand of charms." He nodded to himself, humming while looking for something in his desk drawers.
"Yes,yes...ten and quarter inches long, swishy and made of Willow. I believe that it served her well." The wandmaker's eyes, pale as a shining moon, met Harry's emeralds with hidden meaning in them but they softened suddenly." Oh….you have her eyes." Then he began to take Harry's measurements like a tailor with his tape measure.
" But your father on the other hand found himself chosen by a mahogany wand. Eleven inches, pliable and with enough power in it to call upon the transfiguration branch of magic." Then he came as close to Harry as he could, almost touching his nose with Harry's." You have his face Mr. Potter. But much more comes from your mother ...that much I can gather."
Harry was flabbergasted at this point right now. This was not the interaction he had in his mind when he thought about buying a wand for himself but here he was, in the company of an old man who read him like a scholar does an assignment.
"... which hand do you prefer Mr. Potter?" Harry heard him asking, breaking into his thoughts.
"Uh….Right. Yeah, right." Harry answered with some confidence after his moment of hesitation.
" Right, it is." He produced a wand box and looked at Harry with expectation. Harry looked back at him with a dumb expression." Well… come on then, give us a wave."
Harry took the wand in his hand quickly and gave a wave but nothing happened which immediately dampened his spirits.
" No… I don't think so...Alright…...Try this then….. no…... What about this…...… I don't believe it'll help…..… let's see how it favors you…..no, it is to be expected……. " And on and on it went.
After trying almost fifty wands, Harry literally had his tears out of his eyes. He looked towards Uncle Reg who gave him an encouraging look.
"... I wonder….if that will work…." Then the wandmaker vanished out of sight.
Harry looked at his hands, trying to figure out why he was not getting a wand for himself yet. Maybe something was wrong with him, he thought.
He felt a hand on his shoulder." Have faith, everything will work out in the end. It will, I promise you." Uncle Reg gave him a soft smile which he had only ever seen on his uncle's face whenever Harry was having some trouble with anything. It was only reserved for him. For his Uncle Reg's sake Harry held on to his words and turned to find the old wand maker already in his place. Weird.
He looked at Harry for some moments then gave him a wand which he was carrying in his gloved hand but what caught Harry's interest was the stricken look on the wandmaker's face." I wonder if it will choose you but there is no harm in giving it a try. Let us see then."
Harry took the wand in his hand and suddenly he felt warmth from the wand. However the feeling left him as sudden as it had entered his being. Like the wand had sensed something but left his core due to the lack of some unknown element.
Harry felt disappointed, lost. He felt agitation rising in him and he gave the wandmaker a venomous stare. But it was not because of the wand's rejection but the silly look on the wandmaker's face.
Ollivander cheered. " I knew it wouldn't work but still I had to give it a chance because stranger things had happened before. No worries…. it is not everyday that I get a tricky customer. Although I must say it to you Mr. Potter, I do enjoy a challenging task." He said with his signature odd smile on his face and vanished to Merlin knows where.
Harry groaned. He was getting nowhere. Finding a wand for himself was more than what he thought it could be. Slowly his mind was having depressing thoughts which didn't help thr situation at hand.
Ollivander returned with some boxes floating behind him which was something he could deal with rather than have his mind creating depressing scenarios. Six boxes in exact number if you counted the one inhis hand. He put them on his desk with the wave of his hand and looked at Harry with excitement brimming in his odd pale eyes.
" Touch the boxes and tell me which calls you the best." He implored Harry in his mysterious voice. Harry stared at the odd wooden boxes with a wary look on his face as he moved forward towards the desk.
As he was asked to, he followed the guideline and touched the first box with his palm which to his disappointment didn't yield any results. Keeping his thoughts positive, he moved to next and then the next until one caused an itch on the back of his neck. Before he could scratch his neck Ollivander pounced on the box and took it away while the others trailed behind him. Weird indeed, Harry thought as he scratched his neck.
After some moments, he returned with some more boxes and asked Harry to do the same thing which he did but this time it took him a few more minutes to feel the same itch on his neck again. When he did, Ollivander took that box with him which had caused the reaction and vanished out of sight to which Harry was used to by now.
They had to wait half an hour until the wandmaker came back in his usual style with a mysterious gleam in his eyes.
He produced a wand which was pale white in appearance with a bird like handle to it, making its grip rugged with feather like small scales. He gave the wand to Harry in an exaggerated fashion like a dancer." I think this will do, yes it will." Nodding his head eagerly. But Harry was having none of it. To be honest, he was not feeling very optimistic at that moment.
Harry cautiously took the wand in his hand and just as he gripped the wand in his palm, he gasped as he felt the intensity of magic running through him like never before. It was new, warm, chaotic and amazing, all at once. It almost made him drop the wand as his bonding with the wand frightened him to the levels he couldn't ever begin to explain. But he held on to it like his life was on the line and slowly the intensity decreased gradually and the feeling of contentment took hold of his conscience. His very being.
Harry beamed with a glowing smile on his face, the irises of his eyes sparkling as he looked at the wand…… his wand with pride. At last, he thought. He had found his wand.
"And so it has happened." Ollivander proclaimed in his soft mysterious tone."You are chosen by the Dueler's Wand as you are destined be one. The martial prowess of Aspen wood is enough to make you a great dueler in your own right but this is the least surprising aspect of your wand."
Ollivander moved around like a dancer while weaving his words like a poet as he described the nature of his wand."I would even go far and say that if you were born in the eighteenth century, you would have been abducted from your residence in the middle of the night by the notorious Silver Spears, an illegal dueling club of that time. They guarded and recruited any witch or wizard who was in the possession of a wand made of Aspen with covetousness unlike any because they knew what a wand of Aspen could do. "
Ollivander's expressions had taken a grave turn by now but fortunately his face relaxed after some mere moments." But you need not worry Mr. Potter, Silver Spears are a thing of the past now. But their tales are still mentioned among the wandmakers and their apprentices whenever the subject of Aspen is broached."
Then he shook his head."Enough about them, I believe that the most surprising aspect of your wand is the core that resides in it. A tail feather of a Thunderbird. A most curious match but still a stable match in your case." He put a finger on his chin, his eyes faraway from where they were standing and reminscencing something.
" You can't do justice to the tales that a Feather of a Thunderbird sings. While being one of the most powerful wandcores in the wizarding world, it has a ...unique ability to sense danger, just like the being it is taken from, which could cause the wand to unleash curses involuntarily if the situation demands it to. So, you see Mr. Potter…… you are chosen by a wand which will serve you jealousy if need be." Harry looked at his wand in new light. His wand was a special wand. Because he had never heard about a wand to do something like that.
Ollivander continued." You and your wand will go on to many adventures ahead in your life or so is the nature of it. And you will cause revolutions in your wake in spite of everything, whether it be good or bad…… the choice will always remain yours and yours alone. Great things await you Mr. Potter. I hope you chose wisely." Ollivander had a guarded expression on his face this time which Harry could neither make heads or tails of. But Harry knew one thing, whatever he chose to do in his life he would make it worth something. Something that he would be proud of.
Present
House Slytherin
Common Room
" So Potter, been tasting success lately, eh?" Zabini teased Harry as he jumped on the couch beside him.
Harry wrote down some words on his parchment then turned." It depends on what kind of success you mean."
Zabini gave Harry his distinctive smirk." You just defeated your nemesis along with none other than the princess of House Greengrass." He waggled his eyebrows at Harry." I would call that a great success. I can only wonder what happened after the duel when she showed her gratitude towards her only partner." Zabini swooned in a dreamy manner.
Harry gave Zabini a disgusted look." Bugger off, you perverted pillock! For once, get your mind out of the gutter. And for the love of Morgana leave me alone, I have no time for such nonsense."
Zabini cackled as he put a hand on his shoulder." Oh, you are too easy Potter. Fine, spoil my fun." He got up and removed himself from Harry's side who shook his head in disbelief.
Harry completed his work in half an hour. He collected his books to put them in his dorm. On his way to the common room, Harry found Theodore talking to Davis which was a surprise because they were not even matched as partners during the knockouts. But stranger things had happened before so who was he to say anything.
" Where are you two heading?" Harry asked them as they began to leave the common room.
" Oh, the kitchens." Theodore said quickly and Davis nodded along with him. Harry watched both of them in scrutiny. He could see something was at work there but he didn't press them on it.
" Right. I am heading to the lake but we can tag along until we part our ways, can't we?" To which they nodded in sync which he thought was weird.
They moved in silence and that was alright by him normally because he was not a big fan of small talk but this suffocating silence was weighing on him.
When they reached Hufflepuff's common room entrance, which was a no big secret, Harry said his goodbyes to them and left them to their own devices as he made his way towards the grounds.
As he was closing the distance towards the main gate of the castle, he thought about what had just happened back there. He was not a goosip if you asked him but Nott and Davis together...that just made him want to scratch his itch of curiosity. Like why were they going to the kitchens togther? Was there something happening that he didn't know about? But Theordore would have told himhim if it was important.
In the end, he left the matter be because it didn't concern him. Because people had their own lives and what they did with it was their own business. If it deserved his attention then Theodore would come forth like he had done many times before.
Potion Master's Office
" So far, you have surprisingly done well along with your….peculiar partner. As it was expected of you. What do the members have to say about it?" Severus Snape asked his pupil as he leaned back in his chair.
" Nothing worth mentioning I assure you. As you mentioned earlier, it was expected of us." Heiress of the House Greengrass responded in her usual tone while keeping track of the Potion Master's expressions." But they are considering or should I say contemplating with the idea of inviting my….. peculiar partner in the upcoming meetings."
" Any particular reason behind making such….. an auspicious decision?" Snape asked her causally in his usual monotone but he could not hide the stiffness of his form. A way for her to figure out the reasons behind such an act.
Greengrass used her mind shields to keep the smirk from forming her striking features. She breathed out slowly as she went through many exercises at the same time." Professor, I think you are well aware that I do not sit on the table, not yet. So, whatever the reason they had behind making that decision….. I couldn't possibly know." Daphne kept an innocent expression on her face as she made her response known." I am just a mere fourth year waiting for my own pamphlet of invitation."
Snape scoffed." This may work on those who have nothing between their ears but not I, child." Daphne's face hardened like a stone sculpture at the last word." I am asking because whatever you wish to gain from him or especially those close to him will be all for nought. It is the Blacks who are at work here. And I don't need to elaborate further about them."
" Them? It is a Black." The answer was enough for Snape to notice that the heiress was more involved in the workings of the table than she made him believe she was. If she was somehow a part of some plan by acting as an extension of her father's, it wouldn't come to fruition because their knowledge about the Blacks was limited.
Snape nodded." By saying that you are already out of your depth. You believe that it's just the Lord of the Blacks who guides the boy. That once you show him the dreams of grandeur, the boy will join your league as a devoted follower knowing fully well that he is to be the first Lord of two houses in many centuries." Snape mocked her in his exaggerating tone.
" And what about his admiration towards you? Did you think of that?" It was Daphne's turn to go stiff." Yes, slowly he will get to know who you really are. Are you ready for that to happen? Are you ready to face the consequences when he realises how you have played him? or do you find in yourself giving him what he wants other than leading him on? Ah….I can understand now...the haste behind the decision. The time is catching up to you." Daphne's face went blank which to be honest in his mind was a weakness in facades because it showed that you had the intention to hide something.
Snape turned his face towards the painting in his room on the left wall, an involuntary act on his part." You are playing a very dangerous game here." Then his tiredness appeared on his features as kept his gaze on the painting which was quite a shock for Daphne because he never showed his emotions on his face, ever.
" Times are changing. And for the worse, I assure you. People don't know it yet. Don't pull yourself in a hole from where you can't find your way back Miss Greengrass." He spoke in a grave but tired tone which sent chills down her spine because it was not just the words but the way he spoke them, in total resignation. As if there was something only he could see coming but there was nothing there he could do about it or someone else for that matter.
" You can leave now." The strength in his tone came back as he spoke with finality." And close the door on your way back." Then he stood up, moved towards the door behind his desk and left his office room.
On her way back to the common room, Daphne was having second thoughts about following the plan as she was asked to do. Because the way the Potions Master spoke, it had her on edge.
A wary feeling began to dominate her thoughts. What did she not know? What other factors were at play that they were not aware of ? She would need to talk to her father about the odd interaction she had with her Head of the House, she decided as she gave the password to the entrance door of the common room of House Slytherin.
The Black Lake
Harry took a deep breath as he inhaled the air while standing beside the banks of the Black Lake. The lake was almost frozen now and you could see the snow piling on the surface of it.
He looked up in the sky and saw clouds veiling the blue sky and the setting sun. It was a habit of his to watch the sunset by the Black Lake whenever he had some free time. He felt calm here even now as the temperature was lowering with every passing minute. He rubbed his hands together to keep them warm. He had forgotten to wear his mittens, he realized with a groan. Bugger.
Then he shook his head. He wouldn't let that trifling thing dampen his mood. No, he would relish every second of this moment. He raised his head a little and closed his eyes and released a comforting sigh.
" I see, I have some company today." Harry opened his with a blink and turned his face towards the direction where the voice was coming from and found himself facing a familiar face which caused him to release a relieving sigh.
" You do know there are other ways to announce your presence, right? Especially the lady of your station." Harry stated in his most formal tone but his lips twitched involuntarily in amusement.
" Where is the fun in that? Moreover, who says I am a lady, hmmm?" The person in question answered with questions of their own.
Harry shook his head." So, you just announce your presence by freaking the other person out. Quite a way to start a conversation if I must say."
Fleur gave him a charming smile as she gracefully closed the distance between them." Yes, I mean isn't that what they say,' keep 'em on their toes'." Harry chuckled as he took his position a few paces away from her.
" I pity your friends." Harry stated with warmth in his voice which he was not aware of. He took her hand in his and gave a featherlight kiss on her knuckles.
" Pity yourself then." Fleur responded with a glowing smile as she exchanged pleasantries with him then she took him by his arm and sat beside him on the nearby bench but not before putting warming charms on it first.
" How are you?" She asked as made herself comfortable on the seat.
" Good. Everything is going exactly according to plan. So, no complaints." Harry answered casually but it was very hard to do so. Because here in her presence, his was of no use. Why? He had no idea. But what made it so interesting was how carefree he was around her. And he had no intention of finding out why.
" That's good to hear. I wish I could say the same." Harry frowned as he noticed a slight change of tone in her voice." Why so?"
Fleur shook her head." The First task is almost here. A week and a few days left to complete the preparations." But Harry's mind was somewhere else. He was mesmerized by the way the vapor smoke was leaving her lips in the freezing evening.
" Oh….. Any idea what it is going to be? The first task that is." Harry asked casually…… almost too casually.
Fleur turned her head around with a knowing smirk on her face." Maybe I do…..or not. Who is to say?" Her eyes sparkled in mischief as she stared at him with challenge in those aquamarine orbs.
" That's not an answer." Harry grumbled which he did not normally in the presence of others, not since he was a child.
Fleur raised a brow at that." What can I say? You will just have to live with it, mon ami."
Harry raised his hands." I am just trying to help my friend here." Fleur nodded in a knowing way.
" What will you do with it? If I tell you." Fleur asked Harry as she gave him her undivided attention.
Harry shrugged." Sate my curiosity." Fleur increased the intensity of her gaze at him." Alright, alright……maybe just tell someone so that I may sound….. interesting to them." Fleur laughed at that which Harry reciprocated.
She shook her head." And when did you start thinking about making an impression on somebody?" Amusement shone in her eyes as she waited for his response.
" Who doesn't want to sound cool to lower years?" Harry intentionally asked in an incredulous manner.
Fleur tried to keep her laughter in check." A worthy goal." She choked in her response.
Harry kept his lips twitching from amusement." A worthy goal indeed." Then Fleur lost control of her and laughed with him.
They came back to sanity after some moments. She took deep breaths as she tried to control her breathing. Harry felt something warm in his hand that he didn't pay any attention to a few moments before. It was Fleur's hands. Soft like that of newborn's but firm. which meant that his and Theodore's theory about her hands was a wild one as it was far cry from truth.
" Your hands are cold." Fleur remarked as she took his other hand as well in hers. Harry had a sudden urge to flinch and take them back because of the unnatural warmth of her hands but somehow he kept himself from doing that.
" How are they so warm?" Harry asked with a dumb expression on his face.
Fleur smiled." I have a few tricks up my sleeve." They were very close, almost as close as they once were during their first meeting. Now, why in the smoldering hells did you have to go there? Harry berated himself.
Harry tried to maintain eye contact with her which was getting harder and harder with every passing second." That's quite a trick you have there. Handy even."
" I am Fleur Delacour." She murmured softly as if that explained everything, almost too slowly like a feather touching the skin. Harry's senses were raising an alarm in his head. But he didn't understand what kind of danger he would be in her presence.
" That you are." Harry responded, giving a slow nod in her direction." Hey, you are not some kind of siren of anything like that are you? Because I am feeling light headed right now."
Fleur gave him the most genuine smile he had ever seen on someone's face." Something like that. But it is just cold and now that your hands are warm, you are getting light headed." But then he felt her warm hand on his cheek and Harry's hands trembled in her other hand as her palm came in contact with his cold cheek.
He closed his eyes in comfort." Let me tell you one thing, warming charms have nothing on you." Fleur laughed again this time and Harry relished in her warmth and her soothing tingling laugh. Merlin! What he would-
"Dragons."
" Romania, yes. They live in Romania. Weasley's brother is a Dragon Keeper." Harry answered subconsciously.
" Dragons are the first task." Harry's eyes flew open and his shock was visible to her as her statement caught him off guard.
" What?" Harry asked in a low tone but surprise was laced in it. He didn't even feel the strength in him to exclaim his reaction.
" Yes." She said with a straight face. All the comforting and soothing thoughts left his mind even though her hand covered his and the other caressed his cheek.
" How?...W- Why?" Harry couldn't even form a sentence after hearing the news.
She waved away his concerns." I have prepared for it. I have got it covered. But still we are talking about dragons here. Anything can go wrong." For the first time since he met her, Harry saw wariness in her eyes as she bit inside her lip.
He quickly cleared his mind and made an effort to say something." It's going to be alright. And the professors will be there too. So, there is your silver lining if that's any help.
Fleur smiled or she tried to but Harry could see that the worry was eating her from inside. He squeezed her hand as he looked at her meaningfully." You are going to do brilliantly. The goblet wouldn't have chosen you if you didn't have it in you. I think you are brilliant and you will ace the task with flying colors."
She stared at him for some moments then a tinge of amusement came back in eyes." Thank you for the kind words, Harry. I would have known if you didn't mean them."
Harry smiled to keep the conversation light." Another trick of yours?"
Fleur removed her hand from his face and soon the absence of her hand was felt by him on different levels. But she took hold of his hand and kept them there which was a positive if you asked him.
" I know many tricks." Fleur raised her chin in a haughty manner which brought an amusing grin on Harry's face.
" Will you teach me?" Harry asked softly.
Fleur's eyes sharply turned on him then they relaxed like a switch was turned off. She pouted in a childish way as if thinking about it. " If you keep being a good boy, maybe I will." Then she just grinned at him.
Harry thought that she enjoyed herself too much when she was with him. They didn't even know each other well enough but the way they bantered between themselves felt like they had known each other for a long time. And it felt right.
Without thinking Harry blutered." I am glad that you are my friend Fleur." Which sobered Fleur quickly.
She held his gaze for almost a minute and during that time he felt like he was being scanned by some unknown element which he had no idea about.
Fleur started but the serious look on her face remained." Having true friends in this world is a boon which only a few could say for themselves, Harry. I know you speak the words with truth and honesty but I hope that you understand them because you being my friend is everything to me."
Harry's core trembled when she talked in a serious tone with undertones of something else entirely in her words. He felt like there was nothing else in the world but just the two of them. This was by far the most surreal experience he ever had and he had no idea what that even meant. It was divine.
He shook his head as he hardened his resolve and began." As long as you will have me, I will be honored to be your friend. And I only hope that you treat me as such." Harry squeezed her hands to prove his point.
Fleur smiled at last." I don't think you understand what you have signed up for, my friend. There will be trouble." She caressed his cheek again.
Harry responded with a smile of his own." I have had my fair share of runs with troubles. Having you as a friend if summons any trouble then it is wholeheartedly welcomed."
Fleur had a teasing grin on her lips after she heard him." Careful now. Any more words and I will take a different meaning to what you offer." Harry chuckled as he shook his head in disbelief.
" And whose fault that would be?" Harry asked without thinking.
Fleur blinked." Yours, of course." She stated in amusement.
Harry giggled which was out of character for him." L-lucky me!" Then he laughed as his shoulders shook.
Fleur frowned then her eyes widened when she understood what he meant by that. She punched his shoulder but Harry laughed anyway while rubbing his shoulder.
" I didn't expect that from you. You are a one sly fox to watch out for." Fleur shook her head in mock disappointment.
" Hey! Don't you 'sly fox' me. You started it, not me." Harry tried to say that between his laughs.
Fleur tried to keep a stoic face but her lips twitched then she lost herself to laughter. It had been such a long time since she laughed that much in the presence of someone other than her family or close relatives. But what she didn't know was that the young man besides her was in the same boat as her.
They truly didn't know what they had gotten themselves into or how their friendship will turn out to be. Because there were forces out there which had their own agendas and who knew what lengths they would go to achieve their desired point of disembarkation.
