Chapter 7
A day after the incident with Kai, Lady Nagant was mulling over what would be the best thing that she could possibly do. She couldn't get out of her head about the President, and what his true motives would be, though she did have a sinking feeling she already knew.
Even as she sat in the living room with Keita, she couldn't help but think about her next moves.
She also wondered what Keita was thinking, she could assume that he had probably begun figuring out who it was that had sold him out to Kai, and if he did, which she believed he probably did, then she could only imagine what it must be like to feel like that.
She went to speak up, when Keita did instead.
"...Nagant-chan, my brother...I am..."
"What about him?"
She replied curiously, so Keita spoke
"He caused these problems for you all, he can deal with those consequences, still I hate how he does things, and thinking he can do as he likes." Lady Nagant seemed intrigued by what he was going to say. "Though, the day that I fought him, it was wild. So many thoughts kept going through my mind, and what would be the best thing to do, how to fight him, how to protect others..."
Lady Nagant pulled closer, looking on with a kind expression as he spoke.
"Yeah, it really must have been hard for you."
"Yeah...at first, I was nervous, seeing him after this long...it caused me to be caught in so many feelings. But, when I looked into his eyes, and seeing his intent, how he was going to use and kill others for his own gain...I couldn't stop. I knew that if I did, then anything could've happened. To you, to me. I'm...I don't want anything to happen to the people that I care about, and wish to protect them no matter what."
Lady Nagant was happy when she heard him say that.
"That is good to hear, it shows that you have grown stronger, both physically, and mentally, it shows your true strengths, Keita-kun."
Keita gave a kind smile in return to what she said.
"Yeah, he can't win anymore, he has to be stopped no matter what. He might have gotten away, but next time..." As he spoke, he noticed Lady Nagant beginning to stand up. "Nagant-chan?"
"Oh, don't mind me, I just have to step out for a moment. Be back soon."
Lady Nagant soon exited, so Keita leaned back in his seat, and turned his eyes to the ceiling.
Thoughts ran through his mind about Lady Nagant, and what it was that she was thinking and feeling at that moment in time.
He also had a few things to think about, and sat in silence as he pieced together what he thought was true, and what his own move would be next...
Meanwhile, Kai Chisaki was back at one of his bases, and lamenting over the fact that he wasn't able to secure Keita back from those that in his eyes had taken away his brother.
Chronostasis stood close by, seeing that Kai was being unusually silent about everything he was feeling.
"Overhaul-sama, this mission was..."
"I realize what this mission was. Even when we had the element of surprise, we still weren't able to gain the victory. What we have to do is regroup, and try again."
Chronostasis wasn't for that.
But he wasn't sure if he could express his thoughts on the matter.
"We lost a few members of the Yakuza, strong members at that. We almost lost Rappa, and Katsukame. That kid..."
"His name is Keita, and be disrespectful about him again, and I'll tear you apart."
The threat was real, and even Chronostasis, someone that Kai had trust in, wasn't safe from speaking about Keita in a negative light.
"...I understand. But I am wondering, if it was..."
Kai turned his eyes towards Chronostasis.
When he did, the man froze under the gaze.
Kai sent shivers through his body.
"What are you wondering exactly?"
Chronostasis felt like his heart was going to stop.
It was fearful that the gaze he was receiving at that moment.
"...N-Nothing, except about what we're going to be doing now. With the fact that we have lost people...and we did use some of the Quirks we had..."
"Then we shall collect other sacrificial members, then we shall engage those that believe it is okay to separate my brother and myself. Lady Nagant, and Hawks, they aren't pushovers, in a straight fight it is hard to take them down. But, they aren't impossibly strong, once I find the right combination of Quirks, they both shall be sacrificed. Then Kei...he will come back to me. Plus, we have another option to go with to help us. Having two sets of insurances on our side, is going to be rather beneficial."
Chronostasis simply inclined his neck, and left the room.
Once gone, Kai tightened his hand as thoughts of Lady Nagant and Hawks filled his mind.
Anger came to the young man, and that anger wouldn't leave him either.
One way or another, he was determined to take down those two, to retrieve his brother.
For now, he had other things to do, which would assist him in getting exactly what he wished for.
A short time later, Lady Nagant went over the files she had gathered one last time. Now that she had seen and witnessed everything, she was sure that it was the President who was behind this.
Now she had to make a decision…
No, she had already made the decision.
She just had to think on how she was going to handle this decision.
"The President, I will have to confront him. I have to protect Keita-kun from this monster. Afterwards... The system wont work, the President is too crafty and has the money to buy himself out of any situation. And if he becomes aware of my knowledge, then...I have to end it soon."
As she thought it, her eyes wonder around her room.
Stopping short of an image of her, and Keita on her bedside table, seeing the life in the young man's eyes, caused her heart to ache, yet at the same time she began to find a peace within herself, a peace that was brought about by Keita.
"As long as that boy is safe...I promised myself, when I rescued him from Kai, that he'd never be used, or be threatened like that again...that I would take his suffering away. I wont break my promise Keita-kun. I will protect you. But, one last day, being with you...yes, I think that would be for the best."
As she thought it, she could feel her eyes beginning to tear up ever so slightly.
She didn't want to have anything happen to Keita.
She recalled all of the times that he had helped her. Not only with missions, but personally, dealing with the stress of her situation, and helping her in many ways.
That's why she was determined to also do it this way.
To make sure that he was safe and sound.
Taking one last look at the image of her, and Keita together, Lady Nagant knew what it was that would have to be done, and yet before then, she wanted to have one last good memory with someone that she grew to have many feelings about.
So she stood up, and walked out of her room.
She walked to where Keita would be, and soon found in the training room, working on his Quirk timing and practising various fighting techniques.
When he saw her, he stopped his training and faced her keenly.
"Ah, Nagant-chan. You okay? You seemed to be a bit, distracted before?"
He asked, as she came into view.
She adopted the best smile that she could do, and inclined her neck.
"Yes, I am quite well. So training are you?"
Keita nods strongly.
"With Kai back in the picture, I have to be on top of my game."
Lady Nagant understood that, as she allowed her body to move closer to his own.
Keita looked intrigued as she stared at him.
"That is true. But, its a nice day, and I couldn't help but think, that it sucks to stay inside all day. So, why don't we go out somewhere together? You always like exploring new places, right? Lets go and have some fun."
When he heard her say that, and the smile she was trying to project out onto him, something about this, felt a bit off. He wasn't entirely sure why that was yet, but by now he knew her genuine smiles, and the ones that she faked whenever it was needed.
Regardless, he also did wish to spend the day together, and he briefly thought about Kai, but then paused and thought that Lady Nagant would have thought about that as well.
"Well, if that's what you wanna do Nagant-chan, I'd love too~"
"Great, then lets get going."
"Should we wait for Hawks-kun?"
Lady Nagant thought briefly, then shakes her head.
"He is going to be busy all day I believe, so its only going to be the two of us. That's alright, isn't it?"
Keita began nodding slowly, a small amount of redness working its way onto his face.
She found it sweet, and watched as he stood tall.
"Y-Yes of course. It would be great with just the two of us."
"Then go and get ready, I'll be waiting."
"Right!"
Keita takes off out of the room, Lady Nagant fondly smiles, and thinks "This day together...lets make it memorable Keita-kun." and silently sits on one of the chairs nearby, waiting for him to return.
Later during the day, Keita and Lady Nagant walked around the city, and went to an ice cream place for some on a warm day that it was.
She had disguised herself, so she wasn't given away to the public, so they didn't have to worry about their day being interrupted.
So she took his hand in hers, and began walking through the area as they ate together.
They walked by a park, as they saw various Heroes zooming around the area.
"Many people really do love Heroes, don't they? In school, it seems to always come up with my friends, or with even people just passing by."
"Yes, ever since they came to be Heroes, people have fantasized about being them, or being near them. I suppose its similar to being a celebrity."
"Yeah, but I'm sure that it does have its down sides too." As he said it, Lady Nagant decided to have some fun, so she pushed his ice cream up, so it covered his nose. Pulling the cone down, his nose was covered in ice cream, causing her to giggle. "I see, so that's how it is."
Keita like lightning managed to push her own into her face, she let out a gasp, then began snickering as she pulled her cone away from her face.
Keita soon joined in on that, seeing the ice cream running down her face.
"Cold."
She half joked, Keita serenely stared towards her sweetly.
She melted on the inside when he did that.
"That isn't fair, you know when you do that, its my weakness."
"But, its also a cute side to you."
Keita retorted, Lady Nagant gave amused eyes.
"So, you like seeing cute sides to me, Keita-kun?"
"Y...Yes, I think...its..."
She moved her head towards him, and lightly kissed his cheek, drawing a small blush from the young man.
"Sweet, right?" He could only nod, in awe of her. "I think you have sweet sides too."
She confessed, linking his and her arms together.
Keita and Lady Nagant then cleaned their faces, while laughing to one another.
They then continued wandering around the area together, taking in the various sights.
But Keita couldn't help but feel something was a bit off.
That there was something on her mind that she wasn't sharing.
They eventually found themselves at an amusement park, so they walked in together.
Keita was fascinated with so many things, being drawn to so many different places.
He saw a water gun game, and turned to Lady Nagant.
"I bet that would be easy for you, right?"
He smiled out, Lady Nagant gave amused eyes, nodding a single time.
"I think so. Well, we could always test who has the better accuracy?"
Hearing her tone being joking, Keita let out a small laugh.
"No deal, you'd win~"
Lady Nagant gave joyful eyes, while they explored the area.
They came across numerous people walking around together, and enjoying their time together.
Keita saw that Lady Nagant was distracted a little bit, as if she was trying to take in every single detail from all around her.
They then came to a ball throwing game, so Keita and Lady Nagant walked closer.
Keita noticed Lady Nagant looking at one of the stuffed animals.
He thought that she probably thought it was cute.
So he nods to himself, and walks forward.
"I see, so you've got to hit those glass bottles over there in that odd formation with the ball...but, from how its set up, it would be quite difficult to get them all with only one...even then, Nagant-chan does seem to want it, so I shall try my best for sure to win it for her...yeah, lets do this." Keita pulled his hand from his pocket, and placed some money down, facing the woman running the game. "I would like to try please~"
"Coming up handsome~ Try your best~"
The woman running the game exclaimed, giving Keita the ball.
He looked towards the oddly formed glass bottles that seemed to be lined to be hard to take down with one ball.
"It seems a bit like bowling, huh."
Keita mused to Lady Nagant, the young woman snickering.
"Similar yes."
"Then, if I hit some of them, the others should topple over...alright, lets do this."
Keita got into a stance, and soon threw the ball with vigor, hitting the right hand side, and caused the glass bottles to begin falling over onto one another, to the point that even the woman running the game looked astonished.
Knocking them all over, Lady Nagant gave praise.
"First try, must be all the training."
She whispered into Keita's ear, the young man nods strongly.
"So young man, what prize would you like?"
Keita immediately jabs his finger towards the right hand side, pointing right towards the stuffed pink bear.
"That one please~"
Keita soon received the bear and turned to Lady Nagant.
He then presented it towards her.
"Here, I got this...for you."
Lady Nagant adopts a small smile, accepting the bear, and held it with her right arm.
"Thank you. But, exploiting my weakness for cute things once again. You're really observant huh Keita-kun~?"
She joked, Keita lightly laughed.
"Yup~"
Lady Nagant couldn't stop the giggle escaping her mouth, as she looked down at the bear she was holding onto.
"It really is quite cute." As she said it, she looked towards Keita. "Lets go and have some fun, okay?"
"Yeah, lets."
They then continued around together, exploring various different places.
Lady Nagant didn't really focus upon much of the amusement park stuff, she was more focused upon how Keita was enjoying himself. As he saw different things, taking in all of the sights around him, she was glad that they were able to have this time together.
By the end of the day, Keita and Lady Nagant ended up on a Ferris Wheel, staring out towards the city as they slowly went up into the sky.
Sitting next to one another, Keita felt content right now, being in the presence of someone that he cared for. Lady Nagant also felt rather happy right now. She was able to experience a good fun day with someone that she cared for.
"Its a great sunset." Lady Nagant mused, seeing Keita looking out over the city. "Did you enjoy today?"
"I did...it was perfect. I even forgot about Kai and everything else. Just us together...it felt really good, Nagant-chan."
Lady Nagant was glad that she could give Keita that day to be able to unwind and relax.
She couldn't deny that she also had one of the best days that she has had, being able to finally relax, and be calm.
"Nagant-chan..." He called, so she turned towards him, seeing his gentle smile being directed towards her. "You know...today has been amazing. But, I've been wondering about something."
Lady Nagant was perplexed, so she tilted her head.
"What is it?"
"...I was wondering about you. Is something going on?"
When he asked that, she froze on the spot.
"W-What do you mean?"
Though she said that, she was certain that he was suspecting something.
She had tried to hide it, but it seems something had slipped through enough for him to detect something was going on.
"I feel like...something is wrong. Is it Kai? Because...you don't have to worry about me. I wont allow him to get me emotionally, he can't have that power over me, if you are worried about that."
Lady Nagant shook her head.
"Its not that, I know you're very emotionally strong. Its something else." Keita inched closer, as Lady Nagant squeezed his hand. "Do you remember the promise I made to you, when I first got you away from Kai?"
Keita didn't hesitate to answer, he remembered fondly.
"You said to me, you'd show me the world, because big brother kept me isolated for so long."
Lady Nagant looked at him, and couldn't help but adopt a smile.
"Yes, that's right. I haven't been able to show you the world yet, but you've seen some new things, right? Have I...what I mean is...has it been good for you, being with the Hero Commission? It isn't a normal life, and now that you have been in danger like that, with Kai and..."
Keita believed that he understood what she was saying, so he did his best to reassure her.
"I have the best life with you. The best life that I can have. Everyday...its a joy, to be with you, and Hawks-kun, and my new friends."
Lady Nagant felt her heart beat increase when he said that.
She could really see how he had grown and changed over the time that she had known him.
"Keita-kun...I never wanted you to...I tried so hard, to find Kai..."
"I know...but, it wasn't your obligation Nagant-chan, I never wanted you to feel as if it was. He's...He's my brother, and I want to be the one to stop him fully. He has gotten away with everything for far too long, and I didn't want you to take on those burdens alone."
Lady Nagant always loved how thoughtful that he was.
The kindness that he exuded filled her with renewed excitement.
"I know, but I took them on, because I care about you Keita-kun. I just wanted you to have the best life."
"When I was with Kai...I thought, any life, was better than nothing. It sounds strange to say now, but I've told you before about how he used to be, right?"
"Its hard to believe that he ever displayed any kindness."
Keita could see why she would say something like that.
Even he had difficulty remembering times when he was like that.
"He was...once upon a time. When I was very young, I remember that some kid was bullying me when we were at a park. He was a few years older than me, so Kai came over, and got them away from me, he bought me ice cream with the little money that we had at the time, and he even gave me half of his after I finished my own."
"Kai doing that...to be honest, does astound me."
She expressed her thoughts.
Keita nods a single time.
"I can see why people would say that, seeing how he is like now. Despite those times in the past, they will never...erase what he has done to me since those early days... I wish he had stayed like he was when I was very young...but, that isn't how it is anymore, so I have to stand against him, to stop him and what he has done to me, and to others, to put an end to this."
Lady Nagant listened to his words, and made her wonder about Kai now.
Though no matter what he had done previously, what he did after those few good memories Keita had, were unforgivable in her eyes, and no matter what, she would have to put a stop to Kai for the sake of Keita.
Lady Nagant however felt disheartened when he said that, having had an experience and then have that trust he had in Kai, broken like it was.
Then she felt his hand squeezing her own, drawing her eyes to his once more.
"Whatever...is going on Nagant-chan, you can always come to me, and I'll always be in your corner, no matter what. I know...something is going on...so, if you want...you can share it with me."
Lady Nagant felt blessed when he said that.
She bent down and lightly kissed the top of his forehead.
"You are so kind to me Keita-kun. I might've saved you, but you've also saved me. And you've grown so much. I remember...you used to be rather shy and withdrawn, but now, seeing the confidence in you as you progress...it makes me happy, to see that Keita-kun. I'm glad...that I could help you grow, and see you become...a shining star that I knew you could be from when we first met."
He softly smiled, hugging her arm while she laid her head to lay on top of his own, as they stared out into the sunset together, while the Ferris Wheel reached the top.
Lady Nagant felt that this was rather perfect.
It was a great ending for the day that they had.
For now, she could forget the other things, and enjoy being with Keita for this time.
Later that night, Lady Nagant had made her final decision. She had to go and confront the President, and she had to find out the entire truth.
And she had to protect Keita no matter what.
So she first made her way towards Keita's bedroom.
Since it was late, she assumed that he would be asleep, and she hoped that he would be.
When getting to his room, she silently opened the door.
Going inside, she saw that he was asleep on his bed.
"Good, it seems that you are asleep Keita-kun...this will make it a bit easier for me...no, it still will be hard..."
Lady Nagant made her way towards him, stopping short of the young man, and looked over his face. His gentle face, but she could see that he wasn't having sweet dreams.
She steeled herself, pulling closer to the young man.
"You've been hurt enough in your life, I want to make your life better Keita-kun. I promised you, the day that we came for you when you were with Kai...that I'd protect you, I'll never break that promise. I'll be there for you, I'll always be with you, Keita-kun. Its thanks to you...that I could carry on this long, why I stayed here this long...its because of you."
As she thought about it, she couldn't stop her eyes beginning to water.
Soon enough, a few stray tears fell from her eyes, and ran down her face.
She couldn't hold them back, but she also felt determination filling her.
Seeing the innocent face of Keita, she knew deep down that she was doing the right thing. That she had to protect him no matter what else happened.
She pulled closer to the bed, staring at the young man's sleeping face.
"Keita-kun. Leave it to me, I'll make sure that you've got a normal life waiting for you. Once the President and Kai Chisaki are gone...then you can live your own new life. Thank you, for always supporting me, and being there, when it got too much for me. I'll always cherish the time we had together."
She silently bent down, allowing her lips to briefly brush against his face, before she pulled away, and gave a sad, but determined gaze.
She then turned around, and left the room.
Deathly focused upon her goals, Lady Nagant set out for her target, the President.
What she didn't know was Keita was revealed to have been awake this entire time, and as she left, he sat up on his bed, looking towards the door, concern on his face, so he also got out of his bed, and unknown to Lady Nagant, began to follow her.
Arriving in the Presidents office, Lady Nagant walked in without knocking. The President was startled when he saw her practically bursting into the room.
Her eyes were cold, and unforgiving, while the President looked to be unsure of his next move.
"Lady Nagant, what is it that you wish for? Its rather late, and I have some meetings in the morning so..."
As he said it, his hand secretly began going underneath his desk, and towards a gun.
"I know it was you."
The President gave pause.
"What are you speaking about?"
The President demanded, hoping that Lady Nagant was thinking of something else, rather than what he worried about.
But his fears came to the forefront when Lady Nagant began once more.
"The cases, you attempted to hide the connected ones. The original case files we were given, weren't the ones we should have been seeing. They were coincidences, things that weren't to do with the real case. I found out the real victims, all in one way or another, had something to do with Keita-kun. You hid them, to endanger him, to put him in that position, didn't you?"
The President did a fake laugh, a nervous one at that.
"D-Don't be preposterous, I wouldn't ever do anything to endanger him. You think I had something to do with Kai Chisaki finding him? That's what you're implying, aren't you? How would I have been able to contact him?"
When he was trying to deny it, Lady Nagant knew better.
It sickened her, seeing that he was trying to deny it even now, as she began showing overwhelming evidence after overwhelming evidence.
"There is no need to lie any longer. You already worked out what Kai was doing. You had found out about these cases, potentially as Kai attempting to try and have Keita-kun find out, Keita-kun would have put the pieces together, and would know it was Kai if you hadn't done your best to hide the evidence away. Besides, Kai said something very interesting when he was fighting Keita-kun. And that was...someone sold him out. That action made Keita-kun especially vulnerable. Isn't that your doing, President? You are, after all, the one who was gunning for us to find Kai as well, but suddenly, seemed to cool off on the idea, as this event begun, correct?"
The President gritted his teeth.
He could see the cold eyes of Lady Nagant upon him, and in anyway that he made it known that he wished to do anything, the President was very aware of the incredible strength that Lady Nagant had so had to be careful.
"I didn't do anything of the sort, you are spinning things to fit what you want to be true, rather than what is. Besides, it wasn't my job to protect him out in the field. If I remember right, that was your job. It seems to me, that you could have failed your duty to keep him safe. So don't lay that onto me, you're the one who nearly failed, and now are looking for someone else to blame, instead of looking at yourself."
As he said it, he noticed that Lady Nagant was increasingly becoming angrier, it worried him due to her prowess.
"Really, then explain to me, how these cases, were suspiciously kept out of public view. These new cases that I unearthed speak for themselves, they all had some connection to Keita-kun. Either in his looks, his general age and or power set to a degree, such as earth manipulation or something that would tie it back to him that it could remotely be like him. It was Kai sending a message, and you answered that, didn't you?"
The President scowled.
He could also feel fear deep within his being.
But then, they both heard a voice that caused Lady Nagant to stiffen.
"...I wished it wasn't true. But as I thought it more and more...I kept coming to the same conclusion." Lady Nagant turned around, seeing Keita stood there, with horror on his face. "President...you set me up…? Why would you do that to me?"
His voice defeated, he always suspected the President wasn't as legit as he made out to be. But to think that he would stoop this low, to place Keita in dangers that would have lasting repercussions upon him, it was simply disturbing to the boy.
"Keita-kun, you have to leave..."
"I need answers Nagant-chan. I also had the same suspicions, and you've been acting weird all day...Nagant-chan, you came here for a specific reason...it has to do with what happened, doesn't it?"
"Its fine, go back to bed, and I'll deal with this. You don't have to worry about this, leave this to me."
She wanted to protect him, to keep him out of harms way.
But Keita couldn't.
Not now, after seeing his own suspicions being unfortunately confirmed.
Keita pulled forward, as the President sweat bullets.
"I asked why, President...why did you set me up…? Did you...want me to go back there…? Or did you want something else from me? Or, was it from big brother?"
The President breathed harder, seeing both the gazes of Keita, and Lady Nagant upon him.
Lady Nagant wasn't thrilled to have Keita there, it made what she was going to do more difficult.
Even if she wasn't for it, she knew that she would have to take drastic actions based on what was going to happen there.
Because he was desperate, the President looked on with flickering eyes, trying to stay in control of the situation, and of himself.
"...L-Lady Nagant is filling your head with lies, Keita-kun!" The President yelled in defiance. "S-She is the one that is setting you up! I was trying to stop her! But, but she came here with the intention of murdering me! Take her out before she can! You want to be a Hero, do Heroes murder innocents?! She has given up her rights so you have to stop her!"
As he yelled it out, Keita kept his eyes upon the President.
"...You must be foolish or desperate if you think I'd ever believe anything that you say anymore, as I did my own investigation, and came to similar conclusions as Nagant-chan, that you, set this up from the very beginning." Keita said to the fears of the President. "Nagant-chan... She has given me many chances to have a happy life. But you...you only care about yourself...and gaining more power for yourself, to fulfil your selfish desires, no matter who it was that you used and hurt."
"T-That isn't true, you have to believe me..." In his desperation, his eyes shot for Lady Nagant, then a sinister look passed through said eyes, and turned back to Keita, shifting his eyes to worry. "...The title of Hero, is not associated with Lady Nagant. If you knew what she had done, then you surely would be on my side."
Keita glanced at Lady Nagant.
She couldn't meet her eyes with his own.
Keita then turned back towards the President.
"I already knew, what she had done in her past. But, unlike what a real monster is, she is nothing of the sort. She...She hates it, she suffers because of it. I know she does...its why, I want to be here for her...to help take away the burdens on her mind. So, throw what you want about her out, because I know the truth, and nothing you could say, would make me turn on her. The real monsters, are those that disregard human lives, and that fits you, more than it ever will Lady Nagant. She is a Hero, my Hero."
The President looked beyond shocked.
Lady Nagant also looked surprised.
As she turned towards him, she saw that he was looking at her with a small smile.
That smiled, caused her to feel many things within her.
She didn't know how to express how she truly felt, but it was a joy, and also other things.
The President looked unsure on how he was going to proceed, now that he was being face to face with some difficult decisions, some strong and scary people. Keita, and Lady Nagant both had the ability to wipe him off the face of the earth.
"B-But...Keita-kun, listen to me. I, I only did things for your benefit! I care about you! Don't you see!? I have always been on your side! I have given you a home! I was the one who ordered your training! I made you be able to protect yourself! You have to return the favour now!"
"Its...pathetic to say those things now. You gave me no home, you gave me a place to hone my skills, Nagant-chan and Hawks-kun gave me a home, by being with me, and showing me their kindness. I wasn't trained by you, I was trained by those that actually care about me. And I owe you no favours, especially now after you tried to have me taken by my elder brother, when you knew...he was my nightmare. You put me through that, you tortured me, so you could gain power? Who do you think you are, playing with peoples lives!?"
The President looked fearful for his life.
Lady Nagant, and Keita, either could take him out without a sweat.
Yet, he couldn't think of anything to say to stop this.
Nothing to win him to his side.
Keita then moved closer.
The President sharply took in breaths, as he secretly retrieved his gun.
Lady Nagant grits her teeth, when seeing the President not speaking.
So she began speaking up instead.
"I have a theory on why you did that to Keita-kun. Could it be you wanted Kai's power? But perhaps you didn't want Kai to be around anymore? His power, could be detrimental to what it is that you desire, and taking him out, certainly would free him from Keita-kun's mind."
The President glared at Lady Nagant.
"You are no Hero, you do this, and you are not a Hero."
Lady Nagant shook her head.
"That doesn't bother me. Because you know who the real Hero is in this room?" Lady Nagant looked adoringly towards Keita. "Its this young man, right here. He, is the very definition of a Hero. And you for your own greed, you orchestrated all of this that caused him anguish, didn't you?!"
When Lady Nagant snapped at the President, he trembled, and slowly withdrew the gun.
Lady Nagant scoffed when seeing it, while Keita shook his head sadly.
The President, fearing for his life, trembled as he spoke.
"The truth is...the young man's power, the Hero Safety Commission could be so much, we could be so strong. There would be many things solved with his power! And yet you, you Nagant. Trying to get in the way of that incredible potential."
"He is a person! He is not a weapon! He...I wont allow him to become a weapon."
The President laughed, as he began standing up.
He was still scared, that was certainly true written on his face.
Lady Nagant raised her arm, and produced her rifle, ready to fire at the President.
"Now, its time to end this suffering. For Keita-kun, and for myself. No more laughing now, President. This is it."
Keita could see that she was serious.
At any moment, the President was going to be taken out.
"Nagant-chan..."
"Keita-kun. Go, go to your room and stay there."
"But, I..."
Lady Nagant turned towards him, keeping the President in her peripheral vision.
"If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have stayed here this long. Before we met...I was slipping. I couldn't keep my head straight as the thoughts of what this really is, I kept imagining that I was a weapon, and that's it."
Keita could hear her distressing emotions.
It was disheartening to hear her be in such pain.
The President thought that she was distracted, and attempted to bring up his gun to fire.
But Lady Nagant proved why she wasn't to be trifled with, as even though she wasn't looking directly at him, she still had eyes upon him, and swiftly, she shot the gun in his hand, the bullet ripping right through his weapon, and destroyed it with one shot, showing her prowess with her weapon, and the strength behind her resolve.
"Move again, and I'll have to shoot you directly. So its better if you stop that, I still have something's to find out and say."
The President grits his teeth, with fear etched into his eyes.
Lady Nagant then stares towards Keita, and continues where she had left off.
"But then...you and I met. When I saw your innocent face...and then I learned about the cruelty of Kai Chisaki and what he had done to you, I knew from that day onwards, I would...I would become someone that would fight for you. Because you, someone so pure and kind, yet fiercely determined to protect others, it reminded me of what a Hero truly can be." Keita felt tears prickling his eyes when hearing her heartfelt words. "And if necessary, I'd do anything to protect you, even if it means having to do this." Keita saw Lady Nagant aim her rifle for the Presidents head. "...I have to protect you Keita-kun. He...is the reason you had to face Kai Chisaki, why you were placed into danger."
Keita breathed in, and went to speak, when the President panicked, and tried to escape.
He bolted for the door, only for Lady Nagant to shoot at his leg, but intentionally missed, merely stopping him as the bullet grazed his pants leg, cutting through the fabric, and forced him to pause his actions.
"I told you not to move. It seems you can't follow orders, only give them, right? I still have a few more things to ask, so stay still."
The President looked desperately towards Lady Nagant.
But, she didn't have any patience for him anymore, and wasn't going to settle for anything other than this to be over.
Keita looked at the President, and held contempt for him.
At the same time, Keita also felt nothing but affection for Lady Nagant, and didn't want her to suffer anymore, so he ran over to the President at a rapid pace, and grabbed his head with his hand.
"K-Keita-kun?!"
The President yelled, in fear, while Lady Nagant looked wide eyed.
"W...What are you doing Keita-kun?"
Keita looked towards Lady Nagant, and then towards the President once more.
Many thoughts rushed through his mind, and he couldn't help but know that something had to be done.
"Nagant-chan...if you kill him, then you'll be on the run, or even be captured. People will spin it for sure that you did this as an act of turning into a Villain, or you have lost your mind, or something like that. They'll...I don't want to lose you, Nagant-chan. I...I hate the President for what he's done, but I love you too much for you to be taken away from me because of this...person."
Lady Nagant held a free hand to her eyes, drying some of the tears that began to shed from them.
"Keita-kun...you really are a lovely young man. But its okay to let me do this. Allow me to do this for you...I don't want you to get your hands stained, not like mine."
As she spoke, Keita felt for her.
It was difficult for Lady Nagant, and he wished to relieve her of any pain and sadness that she felt deep inside of herself.
She only wanted to protect him, the only way that she could do now...
Suddenly, Lady Nagant took note of something outside.
It was a light that was increasing in size and speed.
She saw that it was moving closer and closer to them, so she rushed towards Keita.
"W-What's that!?"
Keita exclaimed as Lady Nagant grabbed him, and shot to the edge of the room, unable to get out fully, as the light broke through the window, so Keita used his power to touch the floor, and created shields all around them to protect them, as the destructive power washed through the entire room, causing heavy destruction.
The light died down, and the wall Keita made had broken apart for the most part.
Leaving behind rubble on the ground, Keita and Lady Nagant looked to the source of the light.
"Damn...that light was really powerful, who could have produced such an attack...?"
Keita wondered, his eyes shifting around to see if he could see outside, if anyone was there, but he couldn't see anything.
As they did, Lady Nagant noticed that the President had deep wounds all over his body and he wasn't moving.
Blood circulated his unmoving body, she couldn't see his eyes as he was facing the other way.
Keita was the first to see what it was that had come and attacked them as it suddenly leapt through the giant hole that was the side of the building and window.
It was some kind of monster, with its brain exposed.
It was tall, had expanding muscles.
Its eyes looked vacant.
It also appeared to Keita that it didn't even seem to really be aware of what was going on around it. It almost looked docile, and yet had sharp scary looking teeth that kept gnashing together over and over again in an endless loop.
Keita looked at it with widening eyes, while Lady Nagant was perplexed.
"What the hell…?"
"Ooh damn..."
Keita echoed, while Lady Nagant wasn't sure what she was supposed to think.
However, a chilling voice soon echoed from the creature, or rather, a small device attached to the creature.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Lady Nagant. And Keita Chisaki."
Keita didn't recognize the voice, while Lady Nagant furrowed her eyebrows.
"Pleasures all ours. Who is this?"
Lady Nagant asked, as she transformed her arm, and made it ready to fire at any moments notice. Aiming it for the docile looking creature before their eyes, she didn't let down her guard for even a moment.
Keita looked outside of the building, seeing the heavy rain beginning to pour down. Thunderous clouds scattered across the sky. He couldn't make much out in the darkness of the outside.
"Forgive me, I should introduce myself. You can call me, All For One."
When Lady Nagant heard that, her heart stopped.
She of course was very aware of who this was, and it was terrifying for her.
Especially as she thought about Keita, and the potential that his power had for someone like All For One.
Keita himself was bewildered, he also had heard of the name before.
Recalling Kai telling him about the true darkness of the world, and that being was All For One...
End chapter!
So this chapter dealt with dealing with the President. After what happened with Kai, and having to go through that, putting the pieces together and confronted him. Both Lady Nagant and Keita allowed their feelings out towards not only the President, but how they felt about one another, and how they both wished to protect the other. But before that, Keita and Lady Nagant had a fun time together, and enjoyed the day at an amusement park.
Then finally, at the end, All For One has made his appearance to the pair of them after observing them previously. What will happen now, we shall soon see!
