"Now what genius?" Hissed weiss
"Be quiet and let me handle this" zäch gulped, his yautja was a bit rusty. Zach held his chainlink up high for all to see ,"I am Chainbreaker, the prey behind me is under the Cause's arm, any harm comes to them, you will feel our wrath..."
None of the Yautja's seemed to respond or even react to the fact that a human of all prey was speaking to them, in their tongue nonetheless.
"Ummm...ok" Zächs tried to speak it once more,"What is the clan i honor?"
The Yautjas didn't respond to Zächs query. They just kept staring at him as if it were in thought.
"yeah That totally worked..."deadpanned Yang.
"You're not helping..."hissed the Chainbreaker before turning his attention to the threats at hand. Pulling of his glove Zach revealed his chainlink,"Under the accords the clans agreed to i ask that you identi-"
"Enough!" Zäch stared at the direction the voice came from roughly in front. Zäch looked at each of the Yautja's that were standing atop. His eyes settled on one towards the center column who had his arm raised.
The Yautja jumped off the collumn and landed deftly on his legs, the Yautja began to make his way towards the group. As the predator got closer several other members of the alien hunting party jumped off of their pillars and stood still. The closer the large alien got the more tense the hunters in training got. Though unarmed they still had their semblances.
The Yautja was now in front ot Zäch, it reached onto one of its belts and grabbed a small device. The large alien then placed it on his throat. Flicking a swictch the Yautja began to click and a digitized voice emerged from the device,
"While I appreciate your effort to speak our tongue Chainbreaker, i won't stand for the way you butcher it...but i can sit to speak with you in yours."
Zach sat cross legged in front of what was now clearly the clan elder. On his right was Ruby and left Phyrra the rest of the group was bunched up behind them, in front of them was the Yautja clan. All of them were centered behind the elder.
"Now what interest does a Chainbreakers have in such a primitive hunting ground?"
"Primi-mmffggg" weiss began to protest but found Ruby's hand clamped on her mouth.
"I would rather we speak maw to maw"zächs coldly said staring into the metallic eyes of the hunters mask.
The elder oblidged and removed his mask. His clicking mandibles and yellow eyes, struck chords of horror and fear in in the initiates souls.
Ruby looked at Zach to see how he reacted. She was struck by the seeming reverent gaze that her friend was casting on this Alien. He had good reason to respect this being as a warrior.
The Chainbreaker noted the amount of keloids and facial quills the yautja had, he had survived through different suns and many moons. There was also a scar of sorts, by the predators brow. Not a cut, rather an etching of sorts, and it seemed intentional.
Zack cross referenced the scar with his implanted data banks. A check Came out. It was the clan of a thousand fangs. This was one of the more traditional and brutal Yautja clans so the Chainbreaker was going to have to play his cards close.
"My presence here is of no concern to you, only know that this planet is under the Cause's protection and you're no longer welcome here."
The elder let out a dark guttural laugh and said,"The thousand fang have hunted game on this world for generations , your going to have to do better than that."
Zäch sneered at the elder,"I recently became aware that this planet is my homeworld...i don't appreciate trespassers."
"do you have proof?", the Elder asked, though Remnant was primitive, the human world still proved a challenging hunting ground. Would be a shame to lose it so easily.
Zach held his arm for the Yautja"you have a sample to test me against?"
the elder motioned to another clan member who handed a dismembered human arm. Another yautja handed a sort of dual sighted syringe. The elder grabbed Zach arme and jabbed it collecting a sample. The elder then jabbed the dismembered hand. The syringe began to make a trickling sound as it compared the DNA.
the elder tossed the severed hand to the side and intensely stared at the syringe suddenly it clicked and a bright green light came on. The elder cursed some old forgotten bitterness as he mulled at this new information,"we weren't aware of this-"
"You would be if you bothered to scan for the orbital beacon we set up once we found out" Zäch Flatly stated
The elder paused. It got caught. Its toothed mandibles clicked in thought, rhythmically like a human drumming its fingers-before it stated,"even though there may have been one present, there was enough solar radiation on our arrival that we couldn't have detected it."
Zäch opened his mouth to call bull but was interrupted
"Whatever the reason may be i can see we have tresspassed...we are willing to leave if the cause is willing to let bygones be bygones."
zach tried to hide his expression in pensive thought; he had got what he wanted, well...not quite,"you will need to return the trophies-"
A youngblooded yautja of the hunting party shot up indignantly, his mask translating the conversation for him. He interrupted the Chainbreaker ,"you can't!".
"They were never yours to take youngblood" the Chainbreaker dryly remarked
the youngblood tore off his mask, revealing enraged yellow gems, as he lunged towards the Chainbreaker mandibles open wide,"I'll tear out your throat filthy human!!!" The Youngblood was quickly intercepted before he could reach his prey by others in his hunting party,"Let me go!!"
the elder yautja apologetically glanced at the chainbreaker, "give me a moment."
The elder had the rest of the clan drag the unruly Youngblood out of earshot from the Chainbreaker and its...projects.
the elder barked at the youngblood,"Va'sa, what are you doing?"
the youngblood scrambled out of the grasp of his hunting party,"what am i doing?" He asks softly before yelling at his elder,"What am I doing?! Pa'tuth What are you doing?!"
Knowing this was the youngblood's last man-hunt before he went on to face the serpents for his full blood trials, Pa'tuth let the insolent tone slide, for now,"what do you mean?"
Va'sa snapped his mandibles at the elder"your acting like a scrawny human can take us!"
Elder calmly replied,"a hunter knows when prey will outmatch him."
The Youngblood shook his head a little and glanced at the other young-bloods of the clan; checking to see if they were believing what they were hearing, "since when does human outmatch Yautja?"
Pa'tuth let out a dark chuckle,"that", he said pointing to Zäch,"is not human, that is Chainbreaker."
Vas'sa rolled his eyes and chittered his mandibles, exasperated,"By the suns of the homeworld! your endless tales of the Chainbreakers make you sound like a broken vox etching!"
Pa'tuth ignored the accusation of cowardice,"I have good reason's to have trepidations around them."
The Youngblood dismissed his concern"yes our forefathers picked a wrong fi-" the Youngblood felt himself get steadied by his elder's grip. Looking up to him he saw an expression he had never seen before...one of fear. It struck Vas'sa so, that doubts grew in the Youngblood's mind. Pa'tuth spoke, Not wanting to remember what he currently was,"it wasn't a fight it was a massacre. We thought we cornered prey...but it was a predator."
the Youngblood took in his elder's expression for a moment. Before shaking out of an elders grasp and angrily saying,
"I know the story! I know it well enough to know that it doesn't involve a human! Chainbreaker or not"
Pa'tuth turned to check on the group of humans, they were in deep conversation. He paid close attention to the Chain-breaker amongst them.
"ok, what is going on? You owe us an explanation" Yang asked after watching the weird looking things mutter to themselves for a moment
"those are Yautia's, intergalactic hunters in search of each worlds most dangerous prey." Zäch pointedly said.
"So they are hunting grimm?" The heiress
"nope."
weiss paused at Zäch response before connecting the dots,"wait a minute are they-"
"is that a Faunus head?" Blake asked interrupting Weiss.
Zäch glanced back at the Yautja group too see what Blake was referring. The group of hunters had their backs turned to them. One of the taller one had a faunus head attached to its hip with its spine and veins dangling from it's neck. The yautja who had the head on his hip didn't seem to mind the blood that had dripped from the dead Faunus's nape onto his thigh.
the initiates could tell it was a Faunus, the hunter who had taken it hadn't bothered to clean it or remove the cracked white fang mask that still adorned it. Weiss finally connected the dots but before she could speak zäch hushely said,
"they hunt everything. Including us. Well...you. I am trying to get them to leave in peace so if you could all just be qui-"
"they're looking at us" Ruby's voice cut through the his like a knife.
everyone head whipped to the Yautja's who just as quickly turned back into their conversation.
"there are only two human who have become Chainbreakers that i am aware of. Niether i have a desire to fight."
Vas'sa hissed into his elder's face,
"coward"
this time Pa'tuth had enough. The elder hand whipped across the insolent Youngblood mandible's,"unless you can find something in the accords that can get you your trophies back without getting us all killed, then you can gladly make it your personal hunt." His tone was poignant and final. With it said Pa'tuth swiftly turned around, his jeweled dread whipping in his wake.
the other Youngbloods jeered towards their peer and joined the rest of the pack as they followed the elder back towards the humans. Vas'sa held back his anger and bitterly put his helmet back on and began to scour the databanks.
While the Yautja's were busy arguing. Zäch was giving the group bloody breakdown on Yautja hunting culture.
"wait but what do they do with peoples skin?"
"what do your cultures make with leather?"
"books, bags and..."Weiss white face went sickly green as her mind began to conjure up several horrific images,"gods"
"they're coming back" blake observed
the elder sat back down before the hunters in training,"Before we agree to terms and go our own ways i have a query, which one are you?"
"the younger" zäch responded.
"Blo'drew?"the elder asked. Zäch nodded.
"you are Pa'tuth of the thousand fang, the clan who stupid enough to pick a fight with Th'yd, right?" the Chain-breaker asked. The elder nodded ,"Honestly can't blame ya, that dog's a complete an asshole."
the elder relaxed, sensing the Chain-breaker held no malice for the incident involving his colleague. The clan leader then asked in a hushed tone,"Is your father here?"
zäch didn't say a word. Only glanced at one of the security cameras placed by ozpin. Before looking back at Pa'tuth
the elder looked at the camera. The battle qeary yautja squinted at the blue skylooking for something ,"Heard he tends not to stray too far from you. "
Zäch tensed for a moment curious to find the end of the yarn the old Yautja was spinning.
"I never met him, lets keep it like that. Leave the trophies, there will be other hunts."
Many in the clan groaned, though they were unhappy, they accepted the elders order. The clan members got up and got ready to hand over their hard earned trophies when Va'sa made his voice heard,"I Challenge!"
the ruins fell dead silent
"what did he say?" Asked jaune,"no seriously what is he saying i don't understand his language."
"Under the accords i can challenge your decision via deathmatch."
zäch snorted. The trained warrior vainly hid a slowly growing chuckle. The hunters in training turned to zach and looked at him as if he were crazy. As did the space hunters. The chuckle brightly exploded into a cackle before dying out and croaking, "ahahahaaaaa. Very well, i'll gladly sign your death certificate -"
"Oh nononono, I'm not challenging you"
Zäch chuckling stopped steadfast,"what?"
"What? You think im eager for my death?" Va'sa chuckled, making sure what he read in his helmet was true.
"i am the only one here you can answer you-."Zäch got cut off
"not according to the treaties" the Youngblood sneered.
Zäch wasn't used to getting played turned around to figure out who this Yautja would challenge ,"than who?"
"No, I challenge her."
The Yautja pointed at someone behind Zach.
"Why is fugly pointing and me?" The blonde boxer asked.
Zäch eyes widened to the size of headlights,"you can't do that."
"under the accords, when two clans sit for barter, all those behind the leaders are members of the clan. Any agreement interfering in respective traditions can be challenged by clan members via deathmatch. Since your decision interferes with tradition, I have rit to challenge any of your clan members."
"who the hell agreed to that shit?" Before it suddenly dawned on him who wrote and signed the agreement. He turned to the security camera and glared and raised his arms as if to say REALLY??
"Forgot i wrote that." Teb sheepishly said, "hopefully yang wins"
"wait what, what is happening." Qrow asked the moment he heard yangs name mentioned
"don't worry about it." Teb said, the blue bastard intently watches curious to see the matchup.
"Hey space-boy! Why is crabface pointing at me?!" Yang asked Zach.
"Fucking dammit dad!" Hissed the Chainbreaker.
"How does the human respond?! Or you can just let us keep the trophies." Vas'sa smiled, he goanced at Pa'tuth who on the surface seemed impressed with the Youngblood's ingenuity. But Pa'tuth knew playing games with a Chainbreaker, the deck tended to be stacked against you.
zäch knew the Youngblood had put him in a lose lose situation, if he could delicately explain the situation maybe he could come out of this with all the initiates,"yang, whatever you do, don't stand up. I'll figure a way out of this."
Yang wasn't someone who enjoyed being told what to do"why?"she grit out
Zach sensed the impatience in her voice and tried to tread lightly "if you do you will be accepting a challenge to a fistfight"
Yang didn't let Zach finish, "im down for a spar!" She quickly got to her legs and cracked her knuckles
-"to the death" zäch groaned out facepalming
As Ruby shouted "what!?" concerned for her sibling's safety,"Oops" the boxer sheepsihly said.
Pa'tuth declared, "The challenge was heard and accepted!Your champion ten minutes to prepare!"
"come on!" Zach growled out. The Chainbreaker brought the group out of hearing range from the yautja. But firsts things first, he needed to know how strong the boxer was,"Yang, punch me-"
Yang sucker-punched Zach in the face
"ough!!!" The Chainbreaker cupped his face as he took a few steps back reeling from the blow.
"YANG!!"Ruby screamed.
"What? he literally asked for it" the boxer defensively snarked.
"no Ruby its fine. Fahk! That's a strong arm." The Chainbreaker shookboff his daze
"thank you." Yang Gleamed at the compliment
"but not strong enough" the gleam turned into a glare
"really?" Yang asked, she rolled up her sleeves,"i think i need to give you another reading."
This time Yang launched a furious right fist that was easily caught by Zach's right palm," i strongly urge you not to try that again."
Zäch let go of her fist,"I am not demeaning your strength by any metric. But a heavy blow from a Youngblood can snap the thickest tree's trunk."
Yang relented and decided to pay attention.
"If you want to keep your spine in your body you'll have to be careful. With the right strikes at the right time, maybe you'll survive this."
"why is she fighting him again?" Ren asked he was a bit aware of the situation but the constant labguage changes made it hard to follow
"does it matter now?" Zächs replied
"But what if she back's out." Asked Nora.
"Then they will kill us all" the Chainbreaker replied
"We can take them on" Weiss said confidentiality,"with your weap-"
"If that could worked i would have done that"
"can't your father help?" asked Ruby
"he wrote the treaty that got your sister in this mess" zäch was getting impatient, "look we are wasting time. You need to prepare."
yang realized that she had no choice but to listen to this kid if she wanted her best shot at surviving this situation,"shit...so what do i do?"
"You blue bastard!!!" Qrow screamed teb had been holding him in place preventing him from interering on Yang's behalf
"I won't let you jeopardize a treaty keeping billions alive." Teb simply said
"So what, you're just going to let my niece die?!!" Qrow indignantly screamed
"if she loses, yes." Teb confirmed
Qrow was horrified at what he was hearing"you're a monster."
Teb snorted as if he resented the moniker"one human versus the lives of billions, it simple math."
"you had dinner with our family." Qrow was enraged that her niece would be reduced to an equation
Teb was confused as to why the human would bring it up. Does dinner have a significance on this world he wasn't aware of,"and the shrimp was delightful but i see what little thats got to do with it."
qrow looked at Ozpin hoping his powerful friend was capable if something, anything. But the headmaster quietly shook his head. Qrow went back to his seat and deflated, defeated. The rest of the room went back to watching the monitors. This wasn't a fight to be missed.
Zäch reached to his lowerback and picked up a bundle of pale bandages from his supply pac.
Unwrapping a length he began to wrap Yangs right fist with an altiscan weave pattern. It helped dampen a punch, while using external knots to still make it hurt. Zäch prepared to wrap the other fist,"Remember" he was interrupted by the fighter.
"low, sharp, get behind him. Lower spine is vulnerable as well as his sides, eyes and throat." yang gripped her fists,"i got this."
"your the bees knees" Ruby cheered.
"remember you've trained your instincts to fight human and Grimm." Zäch continued
"I have faith in my partner." Blake patted yang assuredly
Pa'tuth was holding a sand clock up against the setting sun. The elder gazed onto Va'sa reciveing words of encouragement from his parents as well as another youngblood, his friend the elder believed. The elders tired eyes returned to the last few grains as they trickled down.
"if you wanna live through this." The Chainbreaker ekked out though the chatter.
The last few grains fell into the lower chamber. The elder of the clan got his staff twisted it until it seperated into two and slammed the two staffs together
CLAAAAAAANG!
"forget what you know."
"FIGHTERS!"
Zäch gave yang a pat of encouragement. Ruby a nod of belief. Her sister was unbeatable.
"IT IS TIME."
Vas'sa clenched his fists, rolling his parents warning through his mind. He hadn't encountered any special abilities that these varietals of humans supposedly had. Va'sa's prey didn't see him before they could activate their gifts. But magic powers or not, none were match for Yautja.
The Youngblood spared a brief glance at his parents and reassured him with a nod, he wouldn't dishonor their bloodline.
On the opposing side, the blonde boxer took in a deep breath. Closed her eyes and slowly breathed out, before her lids snapped open. She grit her grips and jaw gems tight and stared down her opponent, looking for any movements, any intentions.
Yang remained motionless and emotionless while Vas'sa calmly clicked his mandibles. The wind whispered around the two poles, until
snap!
the fighters dashed like mad rockets to each other.
Va'sa threw the first punch. It was a heavy right hook. It never landed as the blonde boxer expertly weaved out of the way. She spun and dashed behind him but the yautja just as swiftly spun and lunged towards her.
Yang found herself on the defensive. She didn't expect someone so big to be able of moving so fast. The boxer kept dodging while looking for an opening, Yang struggled staying away from each of her opponents swipes.
Vas'sa's arms were moving so fast that yang could feel the breeze recoiling off of them as they shot past her face. Yang tried to outmaneuver the alien but it was proving difficult. That last punch almost grazed her.
Yang leaped back to get some distance but Vas'sa quickly pursued.
The blows became more of a flurry, some grazed but none landed on yang. The boxer waited until she saw her opponent telegraph a blow. it was one Yang knew she could deflect just enough to give her an opening. She had to take a chance. Preparing herself for the pain yang used her forearm to intercept the blow.
It felt more like a steel brick glanced her forearm, than the Yautja's leathery fist. Ignoring the ringing pain yang brushed the blow to the side and delivered a ruthless upper jab to Vas'sa throat.
the Youngblood was unprepared and immediately moved his hands to his throat as he hacked up goblets of neon gore. Which landed on Yangs face ,"GROSS!"
causing both opponent to back off from each-other.
"Zäch i swear if this shit stains my clothes your paying for a shopping spree" yang g'shouted as she tried to wipe the blood of her face
"Focus!"the Chainbreaker admonished.
The boxer wiped the glowing blood from her face and made her way back to Vas'sa who was beginning to recover from the throat blow. the Youngblood hacked one more time before he steadied himself and reassumed a stance
"who would you say is winning?" Asked Blake
"For now, it is a pretty even match" Zach lied. Though the boxer landed a blow, Yang was being careful. Too careful. And though she had avoided any grievous injury its only a matter of time before her caution is manipulated by the Youngblood.
"but you won't let my sister die." Ruby was sure her friend wouldn't let her sister be killed. But Zach stayed quiet. He knew the answer but didn't want to hurt Ruby's feelings
Ruby frowned and slowly said"Zäch...you wouldn't right"
"you should have more faith in your sibling." Zäch said calmly.
Yang Jabbed Vas'sa on his side causing him to grunt in pain. The boxer smiled, she had this crabface on the ropes. She went for a gut punch before hitting him at all angles.
"don't go for it" zäch muttered softly.
she continued in her savage flurry of vicious blows peppering the Youngblood's body,
"he's leading you." Zäch grunted,"pull back" he couldn't coach her, any interruption to the fight would lead to death.
Yang felt like she finally had the upper hand, until her fists were intercepted by Vas'sa. the Yautja mandibles mangled themselves into what yang could only guess was a grin.
"you're one ugly motherfucker you know that?" The boxer said.
Vas'sa grin melted away, before he closed his eyes and cocked his head back.
Yangs eyes slightly widened before they scrunched themselves shut as Signal's killer bee braced for the impact.
"oh no" ruby whispered, "not her please n-"
SMA-CRUNCH!!!
Vas'sa slammed his forehead into Yang's face and released her fists from his grip sending the boxer a few feet back. A trail of blood connected yangs face to the Yautja's forehead, and splatted the ground. Though her aura took the brunt of the blow, it still left Yang a little dazed. Thankfully Yang recovered just in time to see Vas'sa's fist careening towards her face .
WHA-THUD!!!
that viscious blow sent yang skidding all the way to the border of the ring by her back stopping by Ruby's knees,"YANG!!"
"get up cmon!" Zäch urged
Vas'sa stretched his arm and rolled his shoulder. She was tougher and stronger than the other ones, "Give me the vox modulator."
"You shouldn't play with your prey." Pa'tuth admonished
"she put up a worthy fight for a human." Vas'sa replied,"I want her to know how i intend to honor her."
yang had rolled over to her stomach. She propped her ringing skull on her fore arms. The boxer was ragged for air. Each breath she took spattered the ground beneath her broken nose. Trying to hide most of the damage from her sister within her blonde hair
"Y..an..g?!"
Yang recognized the voice. Though muffled she could never forget her sisters timbre.
"Yang!" Ruby smiled exclaimed,"Look!" Her ivory finger pointed at something in the scarlet puddle.
"Ruby you shouldn't be smiling, she needs to get-"Zäch
"Human i will have you know you fought more valiantly than your counterparts!",the voice of rang across the ruins,"and that is to be commended."
yang blotted out her opponents voice as her lilac eyes squinted, trying to determine what her sister was pointing at.
"For your mettle i shall make your death a painless one."
yang's eyes slightly widenened finally seeing what Ruby was pointing at.
"I'll take care when skinning your hide."
The boxer ignored the menace as she plucked a bloodied blond strand from the puddle. The boxer stared at it.
"i shall mount you on my weapons handles, to honor the memory of our encounter"
the bloodied strand spontaneously combusted.
"You really need to get-"Zäch was interrupted by Ruby,"shush, Yang!"
Tired Lilac eyes met righteous grey ones.
"Kick that crab-faced fucker's ass"
Normally Yang would admonish Ruby for her foul language. But she'll make an exemption for this. Closing her eyes, the blonde boxer tightly clenched left fist firmly planted it in the ground. she brought her right hand to her nose. And broke it back fixed. Clearing her bloodied left with her thumb and gory right with her nail; she took in a deep clean breath of fresh air. Turned her head to the side and spat out the blood in her mouth
"it seems you have second wind", Vas'sa observed; he tossed the modulator back to Pa'tuth and gleefully remarked"Glad you'll make for a better story"the Yautja clenched his fists and made his way across the ring.
The boxer silently got up. Rolled her shoulders and cracked her neck. Yang turned her face he opponent and opened her eyes. Causing Vas'sa to stop in the middle of the ring, Something about his opponent was different,"You've changed"
Searing red daggers hatefully dug into his yellow eyes. He didn't even know that a human could make such a glare. Last time he saw such a venomous gaze was when he snuck into the elder's chamber as a mutt.
Yang finally realeased the air she had been holding in. Her inner body was so boiling that her breath steamed as it clawed its way out of her nose. Thick dense cloudy vapor covered her from sight
Vas'sa squinted and took a cautious step back and a defensive pose this was the first time he had seen one of these humans use their so called formidable abilities. There was a warm orange glow coming from. Vas'sa tensed, steeled his stance for whatever was going to emerge from the vapor.
Yang tore out of the white steam, hair ablaze alongside her fists. She tore through the air screaming in rage, as she dashed onto her foe.
Vas'sa eyes widened to the size of flying saucers, "how is that possible?"The youngblood had hunted many humans but had never seen one who's hair was ablaze, "Fancy parlor tricks, won't save you." Vas'sa dashed towards his opponent and delivered a punch to the right cheek. Yangs head snapped to the side, but she didn't budge an inch.
"What?" Vas'sa was stunned.
Yang slowly turned to face him. The blonde boxer snorted as if the impact amused her. Yang let out a grunt before her fist went a blaze and she unleashed the strongest punch she made in recent memory. Right into Vas'sa abdomen.
Normally this wouldn't have worked. Yautja abs are layered lattises of thick muscle and denser sinuses that can take pretty much every blow thrown at it. But not this one.
For the first time in his life, Vas'sa had the wind knocked out of him. The blow was so powerful it sent him up and back to the middle of the ring wheezing. But he didn't have time to recuperate as Yang pursued her opponent.
Yang clasped her fingers to make a sort of crude knuckle mace.
TH-Whack
the first blow sent a few of Vas'sa teeth flying alongside vibrant green droplets. Yang then elbowed his side and sent him back a few feet.
the Yautja grunted and recovered in time to dodge Yang's oncoming attack . He parried and deflected some even managing to land a few blows through the flaming ferocious assault. But each blow Vas'sa landed seemed to be returned to him twicefold. Blow by blow Yang savagely bashed her opponent down to the ground
Vas'sa hadn't expected the deck to flip so quickly. He quickly got back up on his limbs.
Vas'sa tried to get some distance but the firey human stuck to him like he was made of fuel, which Vas'sa was running out of. Vas'sa hadn't expected his tale to end so soon yet as he gazed upon the firey demon that had become his opponent, the Youngblood accepted his fate. This was an opponent worthy of his death. Collapsing onto his legs the youngblood let out a tired sigh and accepted defeat.
Yang stopped the ferocious assault and caught her breath. She glanced her opponent and saw him on his knees eyes closed. She had won
Ruby and the other hunters in training cheered. Zäch was quiet before shouting,"What are you waiting for?"
yang turned to gaze at Zach her eyes now lilac, "Wh-what?"
"kill him so we can leave"
the young hunters stopped cheering,"Zäch she won." Blake flatly said.
"Yall seem to forget that this was a deathmatch."
"but she can sp-"ruby was cutoff by Zach,"even mentioning that word has its consequences, Yang kill him!"
Yang turned to look down at Vas'sa. The Youngblood seemed really calm for what was about to happen. His closed eyes made it look like he was asleep with his head up high. Vas'sa creaked one eye open to ask what are you waiting for, do it. Yang was unnerved,"I-i can't"
the Yautja tribe began to whisper to eachother :
What is she waiting for? Was he not a worthy fight? She wouldn't actually spare him would she?
some in the clan turned to Pa'tuth. The elder was aware of that most human civilizations had the curious concept of mercy. Something he sturggled to comprehend as a member of the thousand fang. The elder hoped that the chainbreaker would convince her otherwise.
Zäch aware of what would become of Vas'sa should he be spared came up with a plan on the spot. Glancing over to the elder, Zach got up and held his hands up high, "my friend has no weapon and wishes to make her opponent's death a quick one."
Pa'tuth nodded snatched a dagger and tossed it over to Zach who deftly snatched before marching over to an exhausted Yang,"Zäch im n-" the boxer was cut off
"you think they share your morality?" Zäch was now in front of her. Snatching her wrist Zach forced the ornate dagger into Yang's hand, and forced her fingers closed around its grip
"what?" Yang was breathing harder
"The thousand fang have a brutal definition of morality, even for Yautjas. Unfortunately we don't have much choice, do the right thing, slit his throat and we can leave."
yang looked at the dagger in her hands. Looking at the blades engraving she saw a Yautja holding a human skull and another longer skull of some kind. Yang then looked down to Vas'sa.
"if you want to kill him why don't you do it." Yang let go of the blade but Zach just as quickly closed his hands keeping the dagger in Yang's hand,"not my fight, his life is in your hands."
the Youngblood looked up to the human who had defeated him. She was a strong fighter, but it was clear she had never claimed a life. He would be honored to be her first. He watched as the Chain-breaker said something else in the human tongue before walking a few steps back.
Vas'sa looked up too yang. Yang tried to look at anyone else. The other initiates, the Yautja's, Zach and Ruby but no one could help her.
Vas'sa intently watched as the boxer steeled her expression, her gory green knuckles tightened around the hilt, and she raised her arm. Vas'sa closed his eyes.
Clatter!
Vas'sa eyes shot open as he heard gasps come from his clan. Zäch glanced at the youngblood, his gaze gave a silent apology. Vas'sa looked down and saw the dagger on the ground. His breath started shaking, his eyes looked at Yang with shimmered with betrayal, the boxer didn't seem to notice,"I won't kill him. He fought well and-"
she was interrupted by a warm mushy bag thrown at her,"Here, the trophies, leave." Pa'tuth growled. Yang caught the bag confused at the sudden hostility. The victor opened her mourh but found herself getting dragged away by Zach,"We need to go."
"but I-I" yang was exhausted from the fight and too confused as too what was happening. She stopped walking was about to collapse to her knees. but was held up by both zach and ruby who appeared by her side in a flurry of petals
"Everyone grab your weapons we are leaving!" Zäch said,"Can someone pick up the bag?"
"got it!" Phyrra grabbed the bag and immediately cringed, it was mushy like trying to hold a bag of warm jelly,"what's in this?"
"Don't think about it. Everyone ready?! Good, lets GO!" Zäch didn't want to be around for what was about to happen to Vas'sa. The others listened to the space warrior seeing what just transpired and followed him without much question.
Yang was pissed she didn't want to abandon the single greatest fight of her life, hell she wanted be able to fight crabface again someday. But Yang was too drained to say anything she could only gaze on as the Yautja party got more distant to her blurry eyes.
Vas'sa stared at his clan who had surrounded "W-wai"
the tall hunters towered over their former clan member. Under the tradition of the thousand fang: a Yautja worth his fangs shall not be spared, for they won't spare anyone. Those who break this way, pay.
Pa'tuth could only gaze upon the pathetic mutt with little other than derision,"get him up"
the Youngbloods picked up their former friend who had brought shame to the clan. Vas'sa tried to use his weight to stay down but he couldn't. He looked at his parents for aid but they simply looked away, embarrassed that their son's opponent thought so little of his demise. Vas'sa stared in disbelief, was his death so worthless that his opponent wouldn't even kill him? Was he not worthy to be Yautja?
he watched as Pa'tuth picked up the dagger that Yang had dropped. The elder began sharpening the blade, causing an eargrating noise to rake the ruins. Patuth kept his gaze on the blade'edge,"pin him to the wall"
the youngbloods of the party started howling and jeering the defeated Vas'sa who was now too weakened to fight back. The youngblood tried to struggle but was punched into submission. His former friends pinned him to the cliffside. The Youngblood could only scream and flail over the sound of the sharpening blade
"w-wait no please, im worthy! She doesn't know our ways! please! Not this, no ,no!!!!"
In the caves leading the initiates and Chainbreakers from the ruins back to the academy the group was trying to get back as fast as i can
Zach was speaking to someone in his ear," i patched in the locations of the corpses, thought there may be more ou-"
he was suddenly cut off by a faint wail. The earworm was such a whisper it could have been at first confused for a fly's flight. But it was soon clear the noise had echoed from the entrance.
"you hear that?" Blake asked
several others nodded. The wail became louder and turned into an inhuman bloodcurdling scream that shook the cave walls. The scream was so agonized it caused the hairs on the groups back to curl up and shrivel.
"Did-did they kill him?" Ruby asked Zach.
"Nope, worse. Keep moving." The Chainbreaker tone was final. Yang was crestfallen, she had left her single greatest opponent to a fate worse than death. Yang couldn't help but wonder; if she killed Crabface, would she feel better about herself now?
Next up team formations and shenanigans.
