One day sometime later, Ace and Graham are walking down the street when they run into some friends of hers. "Hello Ace."
"Tegan, Nyssa, hello."
"Who is this?" Tegan Jovonka asks.
"This is Graham, my boyfriend and a friend of the Doctor."
"You also know the Doctor," asks Nyssa, who has long curly brown hair.
"I do, I just recently stopped traveling with her."
Both Tegan and Nyssa, "HER!"
"While those two recover from their shock, Graham, this is Tegan and Nyssa. They traveled with the Doctor before I did." Ace is rubbing her hand along Graham's arm as Tegan starts to be shocked about that more than the Doctor now being a woman.
With one eyebrow raised, "how long have you two been together?"
"See I have been home for almost 6 months."
"Just a day longer than you have been home."
"What?"
"Ace and I admitted we liked each other just before my and my Grandson's last adventure with the Doctor. Our friend Yaz is still traveling with her." Ace keeps it herself the reason why is that Yaz has feelings for the Time Lord.
Nyssa, ever the sweet one, "are you two doing anything for your 6 month anniversary?"
"Not that I know of. Graham, do you have anything planned?"
"We haven't talked about anything."
"Are you two taking it slow or something?"
"We are." Some wind blows and they watch as Graham takes off his jacket and puts it on Ace.
"Graham."
"Yes Ace."
"You don't have to do that, I am not cold." She shrugs off the jacket and hands it back to him.
"Hey, Graham, can we talk to Ace alone for a second?"
"Of course, I will just step into that cafe right there. Do you want anything?
"I am fine," replies Nyssa.
"So am I," replies Tegan.
Graham looks lovingly at Ace, "a small coffee."
"Got it." He kisses her cheek and walks into the cafe.
"He loves you."
"We haven't said it yet."
"You two have been together for almost 6 months and haven't said I love you."
"We are having fun, it also didn't help for the first month. My ex turned COO wasn't happy that I was dating someone, and he came to the office a few times. Graham was even in the shelter in place that we had. He had just come by for a lunch date when it happened."
"Was that when you fell in love with him?"
"I don't know Tegan. One thing we both agreed on when we admitted that we liked each other was that we would go slow."
"As long as I have known you; you haven't been one to take it slow."
"How did those relationships end?"
"Like some of your Nitro-90."
"Exactly Tegan. It is also nice that we are not in the spotlight."
"I have a feeling that might change?"
"Why do you say that?"
"When he kissed your cheek there was a camera flash."
"It's not like we haven't kissed in public before." Ace feels Graham come up behind her and she turns around and takes her coffee.
"What's going on?"
"We may have had our picture taken when you kissed me on the cheek."
"Sorry."
"Graham there is nothing to be sorry about. This was bound to happen, our relationship coming out the more serious we got."
"You're ready to be serious?"
"I am."
"Good." Ace, not caring about the possible cameras around them, hands her coffee to Tegan and pulls Graham into a searing kiss.
"Wowee girl, go for it," Tegan cheers.
"I will go for whatever I want Tegan," Ace states when she needs to take a breath. Graham wraps his arm around her waist and brings her closer as she takes her coffee back from Tegan.
"Tegan and I were thinking of heading somewhere for dinner, do you two want to join us?"
"It's fine with me, Graham?"
"Friends of Ace and the Doc are friends of mine."
"Cool, Ace we will text you the details."
"Ok?"
Tegan mouths 'talk to him.' They go their separate ways.
They arrive at Ace's flat and go inside," Graham?"
"Yes Ace?"
"I love you."
Graham faces her fully, "I love you too." They start to share a kiss that is slow and romantic. Ace takes Graham's hand after they break and they head to her room. A little while later, "Ace."
"Hmm," Ace is draped across his chest.
"I think your phone is going off."
"I don't want to move."
"Neither do I, but we told Tegan and Nyssa, I think their names were that we would go out to dinner with them."
"We did?"
"We did, they said they would text you with the details."
"I am too comfortable right now."
"I am glad I can help you with that," he kisses her crown.
"Graham."
"Yes Dear?"
"Shh I am trying to focus on your heartbeat." Ace's phone goes off again this time with a phone call. "I guess I have to get up."
"You can always lay right back down."
"I will do just that." Ace turns around and grabs her phone, "it's Tegan," she lays back down her head resting over Graham's heart. "Hello Tegan."
"Finally Ace, I have been trying to get a hold of you for two hours."
"TWO HOURS!?"
"Yes, what were you doing?"
"Ummm."
"Were you and Graham doing what they say in some American sitcoms doing the taxes?"
"What?"
"You and Graham, were you hiding the pickle?"
"The what?"
"The sideways tango?"
Over the line Ace can hear Nyssa, "stop it I think she gets it."
"I have to tease her, you know that."
"Should I hang up?"
"No Ace, you should not hang up. I am trying to inform you about dinner."
"Then get to it."
"You should be happy right now and not pissy."
"Tegan."
"Fine, fine, I'll stop."
"Good. Now when and where Graham and I meeting the two of you."
"At our hotel in 2 hours."
"What hotel?" Tegan informs Ace of the hotel. "Thank you, see you then."
"If you can tear yourself from Graham long enough." Ace hangs up.
"So we have two hours."
"We do. I think if we stay like this for much longer we will fall asleep again."
"They did try and give us a 4 hour warning I guess."
"How long were you awake?"
"About 10 minutes before you."
"Just 10?"
"Yep, you did tire me out a bit." Ace buries her face in his chest.
She mumbles, "you must've really tired me out."
"It was great."
"I know. I have a feeling that no one would believe us that we waited 6 months."
"What only matters is that we know the truth."
"I know, come on we should probably make sure we don't smell."
"I don't think you smell at all."
"Of course you don't. Come on lover boy, let's go shower." Ace turns around and sways her hips, Graham follows her. As he gets in the bathroom, Ace has already gotten him a towel and is leaning over the tub getting the temperature right. "Are you coming in?"
"Yes." He gets in next to her. A while later they get out of the shower with shared smiles.
"I am going to finish getting ready, why don't you get dressed and head to the living room."
"Ok." Ace gets ready for the dinner they are about to share, curious as to why Tegan and Nyssa didn't inform her that they were going to visit London.
Ace walks in front of Graham, "mhmm," she clears her throat.
Graham looks up, "you look amazing."
"What were you doing?"
"Ryan sent me a news article."
"Was it about us?"
"It is, some wondering how long we have known each other and how we met."
"We met through a friend."
"Who at times was like a family member to either of us."
"An annoying one."
"Was it bad Ace?"
"Not too bad, no come, we now have to meet some other people who also had the same friend."
"You know," Graham says as they walk to the car, "it is a good thing the four of us are around the same age. How else would we explain the fact we all know each other from a common friend." Ace starts to laugh. "I love your laugh."
"That is good, I laugh a lot when I am around you."
"I like to hear that, I also laugh a lot around you." They share a small smile and continue the way to the hotel, Ace driving as she knows which hotel they are staying at.
Tegan and Nyssa are waiting for them in the lounge area. "We are eating in the restaurant." Nyssa says as Ace and Graham approach them hand in hand.
"Surprised you two made it in time," Tegan says with a laugh in her voice.
"Tegan, please tease us quietly."
"A story came out?"
"Ryan saw it and sent me a link to it."
Nyssa shows them the way and quietly says, "do they know who you are?"
"Yes, and they are wondering how Ace and I met and how long we have been together."
"They wouldn't begin to understand how we can have the same friend who can't die. Three of us met him in the 80s, and the other one," Ace looks at Graham and smiles, "met her in the 2010s." As they order their food Graham's arm goes around the back of Ace's chair and she relaxes into it.
"You two are adorable together." Nyssa says, looking between them smiling.
"Thank you," their food arrives as they eat. They also share some small talk. After the meal Ace and Graham head back to her place.
"Tegan, you think they are going to last?"
"I do. Isn't he the first one we have met."
"We met him by accident."
"She also didn't have to come to dinner tonight with him. You should know; you were teasing her enough."
With a small evil smile, "ooh I know. There is much more I can say to her about that too."
"Tegan," Nyssa sighs.
