Volume 4 Chapter 20: Trench Run
Back on Remnant
"How are things out there?" Asked Ozpin, as he was standing outside of the infirmary room facing both Tai and Qrow.
"It would seem that all the robots that were being send down have been taken out, and there aren't any more robots being send down." Replied Tai.
"You want us to send the remains to the scrap heap?" Asked Qrow.
"No, leave them there, we'll wait for Mr Light to see his input on the matter." Replied Ozpin.
"So... how are they?" Asked Tai, a hint of nervousness in his voice.
"They're stable, the poison is out of their system and they're recovering from their injuries. We're keeping an eye on them for now." Said Ozpin.
"Well, then it's good that the infirmary had an antidote on hand for such a rare poison, because it's nothing I've ever encountered." Replied Qrow, side eyeing Ozpin.
"Yes, but that's because I'd like to keep myself prepared for any scenario, I don't want any students to perish because of an injury so to speak." Replied Ozpin.
"Very well." Said Qrow, as he eyed Ozpin with a look that said 'I know you're lying out of your ass Oz.'
But before anything could get more tense Tai spoke up "Would you like us to go outside and keep an eye on things, in case things get bad again?"
"I'd appreciate that, thank you Mr Xiao Long." Said Ozpin, as he watched the two of them then walk away, and as they did he thought to himself "Honestly Miss Rose, had it not been for the fact that I monitor everything, I would have never known about that antidote you had been given, but then again, we all keep our little secrets." He then went into the infirmary where he saw that Raven was conscious and staring at the ceiling, as he said "Ah, Miss Branwen, welcome back to the land of the living."
Raven looked over to Professor Ozpin with an angry look on her face and struggled to say "Save the formalities... Ozpin... or should I say... Ozma... we both know my wellbeing is... the least... of your concerns..."
"Perceptive as always, only this time, I hate to have to disappoint you, I actually do care for your wellbeing. Sure, I'd like some answer eventually, but for now, they aren't a priority. You can explain to me what you've been up to at a later date, for now you need your rest, I'm only thinking off what's best for you and the maiden you brought with you." Replied Ozpin.
"She had... her reasons." Said Raven, as she eyed the person lying in the bed next to hers.
"As I'm sure you did." Said Ozpin, as he swore for just a brief second a look of guilt flashed across Raven's face but faded as quickly as it appeared.
"Where is Yang... where is her team?... WHERE IS MY DAUGHTER!" Raven yelled, after which she had a coughing fit as it made her injuries act up.
"They're currently up in space, going up against Doctor Wily."
"Ozpin... if she dies... I don't care where you end up... I will hunt you and every subsequent incarnation down... you can run... but you can't hide from me!" Raven yelled.
"Fortunately for me, I didn't send her up there. She and her team volunteered to go up there with Mr Light, and you should give your daughter some more credit, she's able to handle herself quite well." Replied Ozpin calmly, as he started to fiddle with something in the pocket of his jacket.
"That doesn't mean a whole lot coming from you." Raven spat.
"I suppose it doesn't." Replied Ozpin while walking over to the IV-bag that was attached to Raven's arm and pulled a syringe out of his pocket. "I understand not being quite happy with me, but like I've told you before everything I've done I do for a reason. And even then, I'm trying to do better, recent events have shown me that."
Raven scoffed at hearing that and said "Yeah right, I'll have to see that before..." Raven stopped when she noticed that Ozpin was doing something to her IV-bag "...what are you doing?" To which Ozpin stepped aside to reveal that a new liquid had ben added to her IV-bag.
"Nothing much, just added some anaesthesia to the bag that will now be going into your bloodstream. You're still inured Miss Branwen, and I can't have you wandering the campus while we're at high alert due to the current danger presented by doctor Wily. Consider this being done for your own wellbeing." Replied Ozpin.
"No..." Raven said as she tried to get up, only for her to start to feel the effect of the anaesthesia begin to take effect "...You can't... do that..." as she then fell back to sleep.
"Sorry Miss Branwen, but it was for your own good, hopefully you'll wake up in a few hours and everything will be taken care off. And I understand that you're going to be angry with me over this, quite frankly I completely understand, but with you currently recovering from your injuries I can't afford to take any risks with you. Don't think I've forgotten the reports that your team leader shared with me over you continuing to fight even while injured, so really, I'm doing you a favour. But I don't expect you to understand that, which I funnily do. Now get some rest." Said Ozpin, as he left the infirmary and the two sleeping ladies behind him.
Meanwhile back on the Wily Star
"Yang, Nora... you can stop trying to use the disappearing blocks, Weiss has found a different method to cross the gap." Said Coco, as she pointed over towards the big glyph that Weiss had summoned.
"One more try." Replied Yang, as both she and Nora jumped between several blocks only for the last one to teleport away as the two then fell into the hole and were then teleported back onto the platform by the security system of the Wily Star. "Ok maybe you're right."
"You think?" Sun asked, as he and some of the others were trying to hold in a laugh.
"It's at least very polite of the security system to bring you back." Said Velvet.
"Yeah, same can't be said for those blocks." Said Nora.
"Doesn't matter, get on." Said Weiss.
"Do you have enough dust with you for us to make it to the other side?" Asked Blake.
"I do, and I also have Jaune boosting my aura, so my dust usage shouldn't be too much." Replied Weiss before adding "And Eddie did come in earlier to restock us, I'm not too worried." After which Yang and Nora climbed on top of the glyph, and Weiss began to float the glyph over the hole while the group watched bocks appear and disappear around them.
"So Rock, how often have you had to deal with those blocks?" Asked Neptune.
"More times than I'd like." Grumbled Rock with an annoyed tone in his voice.
"With how many of Wily's plots did you have to deal with them?" Asked Pyrrha.
"All of them, every single time Wily had another plot to take over the world, he'd throw those blocks into at least one base or his own castle. I've had to get creative with how to get past them." Replied Rock. "I mean the first time wasn't even that bad, it was just to reach a ladder, but it was just infuriating to deal with. So what I did was, I tampered with my boots to allow me to jump higher. Made the whole thing a cake walk."
"Dad wasn't very happy though, had to repair your boots afterwards." Muttered Roll.
"Maybe so, but I'd like to see you try to get past those blocks... Oh wait, you didn't, because you waited for Weiss to be done." Rock snapped.
"Uncalled for."
"So was what you said."
"At least I don't put myself in unnecessary harm and make those that care for me worry."
"I at least have the guts to go out and do what's right."
"Ok that's enough, both of you!" Blake exclaimed, stepping in to prevent things from getting more heated.
"Aww, but it was just getting good." Said Neptune.
Ignoring that, Blake said to the two "You two are siblings, no need to be so cruel to one another." Causing Yang, Ruby, Jaune, Yatsuhashi to burst out laughing. "What, was it something I said."
"Oh Blake, that's such an only child thing to say." Said Yang
"What?"
"Siblings argue, it's all part of life." Added Yatsuhashi.
"Trust me, I've been in the middle of all seven of my sisters arguing this is mild compared to that." Said Jaune.
"Look me and Yang love each other, but we're still gonna argue about things." Said Ruby.
"Maybe if someone didn't eat all the cookies we wouldn't argue so much." Replied Yang.
"Burn less of your cooking to ashes and I might." Ruby shot back, as the were about to lunge at one another, only for them to be frozen in place by a glare from Weiss, looking slightly irritated at the two while focusing on the glyph going.
"Anyways, as I was saying, the second time there was this massive pit of lava I had to cross, luckily dad had made this rocket propelled board made for me, so I just skipped over the whole thing with ease. And every other time beyond that I made sure to use rush or another ability given to me to pass by those blocks." Said Rock.
"Sound tedious." Said Ren.
"It is, between the disappearing blocks and the wall covered spikes, I'd rather be dealing with the spikes." Replied Rock.
"You know, I never quite got that. What's so dangerous about them, like sure they can hurt because they've got spikes, but what's the danger?" Asked Nora.
"Oh that's easy, if you land on them at first it might not be so bad, but that's where they get you. They then extent their spikes and fully impale those that landed on them." Replied Rock, as he was then met with several disturbed looks from the rest of the group.
"Did... did they ever get you?" Asked Ruby.
"A few times, usually whenever I had a bit of an unfortunate landing on the spikes or I just barely missed the platform or if there is a room with disappearing blocks and spikes present and my luck decides to turn sour. So yeah, it kind of sucks to deal with at times. Thankfully, there's always a couple of spare bodies lying around in dad's lab that I can download myself to." Said Rock.
"Uhm, but what if you were to run out of extra bodies?" Asked Fox.
"Simple, no more bodies means that there would be no place for me to go and eventually I would cease to be. All my code erased, as if I've never existed. And sure, you can try to remake me, but it will never be quite the same as it was before. Which is why I'm glad the robot masters have a memory chip that has their code on it, they'll be less likely to vanish into nothingness."
"Hmpf, I don't like the idea of becoming nothing." Said Ballade.
"I don't wanna be nothing." Said Penny, as she felt a reassuring hand on her shoulder from Ruby.
"Neither do I, but that's why dad hammered that message in when I first went out to go and fight Wily." Replied Rock.
"That's not very reassuring." Said Cardin.
"Huh, what do you mean?" Asked Rock.
"To me it sounds like Doctor Light can't endlessly keep making new bodies for you, and when that day comes you'll leave behind so many people who care about you." Replied Cardin.
"Sure a day may come where that happens, but when that day does come, Doctor Wily will be stopped for good."
"You don't get it, do you! Roll gets it, Penny gets it, Tempo and Vesper get it, but you still don't get it!" Ruby exclaimed.
"Huh." Rock wondered.
"Rock, you've blown yourself up so many times since we started Beacon and you still don't understand the severity of your actions. Sure you understand what it's like for others, but for yourself... you have no sense of self preservation. Sure, we've gotten your case about this plenty, but we did so because we don't want to see you perish, but you still don't get it. It's very admirable that you wish to do what it takes to stop Wily, but what good will that do if you aren't there to enjoy it!" Ruby yelled.
"Ruby... I..." Rock started, only to be grabbed by his shoulders by Ruby who began to shake him.
"Promise us... please... promise us that when this is over with Wily that you will still be able to walk through the doors at Beacon... that you can still take part in classes with us... that you are still part of Team RRWBY! Promise us!" Ruby yelled out.
"I promise, I won't let any of that happen... but where is this coming from? Is this about earlier when everyone else was in trouble? They made it through, everyone is still here, they made it, they're not dead." Replied Rock, as he pulled Ruby into a hug.
"But they nearly weren't, a few seconds later and they would have been gone and I would have been powerless to stop it!" Ruby yelled out as tears were streaming down her face, as the big glyph then made it across the gap and landed on the floor, after which it vanished and Ruby was crushed into a massive group hug from everyone save for Ballade.
"I won't lie, it did seem like it would be the end for us for a few seconds there, but we're still here and we're not going anywhere. And that's all that matters." Said Yang, holding onto her the longest while the rest of the group let her go.
"Listen Rose." Ballade spoke up "I may be new to this whole thing, and I might have missed a few things as well, but one thing I do know is that humans are strong and not so easily beaten. And from the way things have been said, you all managed to get through a lot. That took strength, and you're all strong. And that fear... I think it's probably a human thing so it's probably normal, but maybe it's also something you shouldn't let yourself be ruled by."
"I do get it..." Rock said, pausing for a bit to try and find the right words "...but sometimes my mind would just get so clouded with the desire to get the job done, no matter how much trouble it would put me in. And from the bottom of my mechanical heart... I'm so sorry about the last two weeks and I'm glad you were all there to keep me grounded. Even with all the setbacks we experienced."
"It's ok..." Ruby said, as she dried off some of her tears "...But still, seeing all of you in trouble and not being able to do anything about it, for a moment there I understood Rock's worries in regards to Acid Man... and I hated it."
"Trust me Rubes, all that my mind was thinking about in that moment was getting out of there and making it back to everyone else. After all, we're in this together, and when we are there is nothing we can't handle." Replied Yang, as she placed a reassuring hand on Ruby's shoulder, while her younger sister dried off her tears, while the rest of the group nodded in agreement.
Ruby then sighed and said "Thanks Yang, I really needed to hear that."
"You're also stronger than you realise, you think you weren't able to do anything, but who was it that got us out of that trouble again?" Asked Weiss.
"Me." Ruby replied.
"Sorry didn't quite catch that."
"It was me."
"One more time."
"I did, I did that!" Ruby shouted.
"Exactly, you didn't fail anyone, don't ever forget that." Said Weiss with a stern tone in her voice.
"There's also nothing with having doubts, that's perfectly normal for a team leader." Said Coco, turning to the other team leaders and asking "Right guys?"
"You kidding, I'm the definition of self doubt." Replied Jaune.
"We're going to do something about that self deprecating when we get back." Coco muttered.
"She's right." Said Cardin.
"I'm perfect, I never have any doubts." Sun joked, only for him to be met with several glares, so he added "But it's perfectly normal to be doubtful." Only for him to receive more glares "Ok fine, I get doubts too, no one's perfect."
"See, was that so hard?" Coco asked, with a smirk on her face.
"She's right." Said Yang "Now come on, this space station won't blow itself up"
"It could, but I doubt doctor Wily would give me access to the self destruct switch." Mumbled Ballade.
"Yeah, you're right." Replied Ruby, feeling a lot better and getting ready to move forward.
Rock then turned to Ballade and asked "Is there really a self destruct switch?"
"There is, he also placed several air vents along the trenches on the outer wall of the space station that lead to the core." Replied Ballade.
"Was he watching movies while building this thing?" Asked Velvet.
"Not sure." Replied Ballade, as the group continued to move forward on the platform, until they reached another big door and were about to enter it, until they bumped into the four robot masters that were exiting the room, knocking over one of the robot masters.
"Ow, watch we're you're going will ya." Said the leader, who looked over to the robot that was now knocked over and said "Great, Hard Man's knocked over, could one of you pick him up, most of us don't have hands."
"Talk about a design flaw." Said Nora, as she, Yang and Yatsuhashi picked Hard Man back up, who upon getting back up nodded politely to the three of them.
"That's not fair, dad made one of them." Roll pouted.
"Should have given them hands then." Added Cardin.
"He did Cardin, the one standing in front of you is Concrete Man and he was the one dad made." Said Rock.
"And what about the other three?"
"Ok, in all fairness, they were made by both dad and doctor Wily when they were working on the peace keeping robot, but doctor Wily came up with the designs." Replied Rock with a sheepish look on his face.
"Again, there is so much wrong with that I don't even know where to start."
"Which part? Also why?" Asked Roll.
"The peace keeping robot, why would you willingly work on something like that with someone who had tried to take over the world before?" Asked Cardin.
"Because I had fought him only two times before, and dad genuinely thought Wily was willing to turn over a new leaf." Replied Rock.
"Ok, that is understandable, as long as it didn't happen again..."
"Oh it did." Said Ballade.
"What... what do you mean Ballade?!"
"Apologies Mega Man, but Doctor Wily was in a very petty mood a few days ago and started bragging about how he had managed to fool all of you during the Roboenza crisis." Replied Ballade, as Cardin started laughing.
"Come on man, quit it, it's not funny. Besides, we needed all the help we could get during that." Rock pleaded.
"I'm sorry, it's just that... how have you lasted this long if he keeps fooling you so easily?"
"Believe me, some of us have been asking the exact same question." Replied Concrete Man, making Roll turn to him with an annoyed look on her face.
"Once this is over and we have you back on our side, we're going to have a little chat."
"Speaking off, what are you four doing here anyways?" Asked Rock.
"Oh that's easy." Replied Needle Man "A good part of the Wily Star is damaged, and we've been send to repair the damage."
"Yeah, something from Wily about a group of hooligans destroying his hard... work..." Added Concrete Man before realisation hit him "Hey wait a minute, that was you guys."
"Surprise!" Exclaimed Nora.
"Ignore her, we are so sorry that you now have extra work to do." Said Pyrrha.
"Oh you will be, do you have any idea how much electrical wiring I now have to fix, or the amount of needles Needle Man has to put in to put the metal plating back in!" Yelled Spark Man.
"Don't you mean screws?" Asked Ren, to which Needle Man sighed.
"No, Wily thought it would be cheaper to use needles instead of screws to put everything in place."
"He also didn't want to make Screw Man." Added Hard Man.
"Yeah, that too." Replied Concrete Man.
"Point is, we were done making the Wily Star and were given some time to ourselves, but no, you all had to come in and break everything you touch, so..." Spark Man said, as he pressed a button that made the ground move the group into the boss room "...we're going to break you guys to pieces."
"Sure you will, just remember one thing, you're all hopelessly outnumbered." Said Neptune, as he and the rest of the group got their weapons ready.
"Which is why I have a request to make." Said Hard Man, making the rest of the group give him looks of surprise.
"And what would that be?" Asked Fox.
"Unlike the others, I prefer to fight fair. Do you remember our fight, Mega Man?" Asked Hard Man.
"I do you gave me an energy tank... wait was that why?" Rock asked.
"It was, you had a bit of a rough time with it to get to me. So, I thought why not fight fairly." Replied Hard Man.
"So, who do you want to fight? Do you want a rematch with me? Or do you want to test Roll?" Asked Rock.
"Not at all, we had a good fight you and I, and I can see that your sister doesn't need to be tested. No instead, I would like to fight the blond bruiser you have with you." Said Hard Man, referring to Yang. "So, what do you say blondie, you up for it?"
"Sure." Said Yang, as she smirked and got up in Hard Man's face "Just know that I usually kick the behind of those that call me blondie."
"Perfect." Replied Hard Man, as he snapped his fingers which put up a force field around the rest of the group.
"Hey, what gives!" Yang exclaimed.
"I simply wanted to watch them fight first before we do, now, lets' have a seat and enjoy the show."
"Don't worry Yang, we'll be fine against them, one of them is filled with electricity." Said Nora.
"Fine." Grumbled Yang, as she sat down next to Hard Man.
Construction Site of Doom - Concrete Man, Spark Man, Needle Man and Hard Man
Nora, Fox, Weiss and Yatushashi were getting ready to strike the trio of robots, when Concrete Man shot out several blobs of concrete at them as well as Ren, Oran, Ballade, Blake and Neptune, keeping them all in place, with them immediately being paralysed by an electric discharge from Spark Man, whom immediately mocked Nora as he said "So much for you absorbing my electricity." to which Nora merely grumbled in annoyance, while Spark Man was shot out of the way by several charged shots from Rock and several Scramble Thunders fired by Ruby.
Spark Man was then immediately being shot at by Coco's mini gun, only for Needle Man to drop in and block the attacks by firing needles back at Coco, as he then jumped in and summoned two large needles from his arm cannon's and struck Coco, who got knocked back. After which he got into a scuffle with Jaune and Pyrrha, who deflected several attacks from the big needles with their shields, after which they slashed him with their blades and knocked him into a flurry of attacks from Sun's nunchucks.
He was then flown into Ruby's line of vision, who sliced him repeatedly with her scythe, only for Ruby to get knocked backwards by Concrete Man who had made a scythe out of concrete from out of his arm cannon and began to slice at Ruby, who tried to block the attack, but due to the heaviness of the dried concrete her weapon was knocked out of her hand, and Ruby was forced to quickly dodge out of the way as he then tried to slam down on her with a concrete hammer that was formed from his arm cannon.
He was then however hit by several Pharaoh shots from different directions that were fired by Velvet making use of the copy vision and finding a way to use a second copy ability in sync with the first one by storing the attack on her camera. Concrete Man was then knocked into Needle Man through a combination of the ice wave hitting him from the floor curtesy of Cardin, getting hit by the crystal eye from Roll and then getting hit by Penny's blades that were infused by the fire storm.
The two were then surrounded by the part of the group that wasn't stuck in concrete, and were getting ready to attack, only for them to be hit by a massive blast of electricity coming from Spark Man who had come in to save his allies, making the group completely paralysed. But right before the three of them could even land a hit on them, they were quickly blasted away by the Ballade Cracker being fired their way by Ballade and were then paralysed by Oran firing the spark chaser at them.
Seeing the other part of the group standing in front of them and freed from their prison, Concrete Man quickly tried to hit them with more concrete to encase them, but they quickly dodged out of the way, as Blake and Fox hit them with their blades, after which Yatsuhashi slammed his massive sword down onto them, stunning them for a bit, which allowed Ren and Neptune to hit them repeatedly with shots from their weapons. Weiss then came in and summoned a massive glyph above them and rained down a tundra storm on them, freezing them in place.
Giving Nora the chance to rush in with the Top Spin and spun into them repeatedly with her hammer, slamming them repeatedly for several seconds, while Concrete Man exclaimed "Hard Man! You better not lose against them! Or so help me I will find a way to dismantle you myself!" But his cries were in vain, as Nora kept going until all three of the robots blew up, leaving nothing but robotic parts and their memory chips behind. "Well, that takes care of that, and I didn't even need to get charged up for this. Now, who's getting the new powers?" Asked Nora.
"We'll wait with that until Yang has beaten her opponent." Replied Rock, as the group with the memory chips were teleported out of the arena while Yang and Hard Man were teleported into it at the same time.
"Good luck Yang!" Ruby exclaimed, while several cheers from the others quickly followed, as Yang gave the group a thumbs up.
"Your friends fought well, show me that same drive for battle." Said Hard Man.
"I wouldn't have gotten this far if I hadn't, so it shouldn't be too hard... man." Replied Yang, as Hard Man then bowed towards her out of respect as she then quickly returned the favour. Yang then rushed towards the robot, who was walking forward slowly, but right as she got to him, Hard Man fired his hands towards her, with Yang being able to dodge the first one, only for the second one to hit her in the gut, launching her into wall of the force field, as she quickly had to dodge out of the way of Hard Man launching himself head first into the wall, where he would then launch himself into the air and dive into the ground, creating massive shockwaves that knocked over Yang and the audience.
However, it also lead to Hard Man getting his head stuck into the ground, as he was desperately struggling to free himself from the ground. So seeing an opportunity to do some damage to the robot as well as the fact that the impact from the hits increased her power, Yang rushed in and delivered several punches to the body of the robot, where she then shot out several dust crushers, after which Yang hit his body with a thunder bolt and then shot several chain blasts at the robot. She then finished the flurry of attacks with a blazing torch uppercut.
This freed Hard Man from being trapped in the ground, who then grabbed Yang by the leg and punched her in the stomach which made her aura flicker for a bit, as Hard Man then tried to hit her again, only for Yang to grab the arm he tried to punch her with, throw herself into the air, do several backflips and then threw Hard Man into the ground. Who looked up to see that Yang's hair was burning a bright yellow colour, and was using the blazing torch to charge up a powerful punch while using one of her gauntlets to keep her in the air.
Until finally Yang finished charging, where she then launched herself back towards the ground and got ready to finish off the robot, who while she was making her way over to him said "You've been a wonderful opponent, if you guys manage to rebuild me after this, I wouldn't mind fighting you again." After which the punch connected to Hard Man and he blew up in a display of amazing looking fireworks, while Yang got back up with her back facing away from the explosion, as the only thing left from the robot was his memory chip, and at the same time the barrier that was put up went down, and Yang was nearly tackled into a group hug for her display, but she and the other managed to keep standing.
"Guys, I know I'm awesome, but this is ridiculous." Joked Yang, as the rest of the group let go of her.
"I'll be honest, I kind of got dragged into it." Replied Ballade.
"So Rock, you won't mind if I take his weapon, right?" Asked Yang, as Rock burst out laughing, "What?"
"It's nothing, I just remembered the weapon he gives. But you're fine to take it." Replied Rock.
"If you say so." Replied Yang, who took the weapon and got the message "Hard Knuckle Obtained." Where she then immediately tested it out, causing her gauntlets to launch themselves forward into Jaune's gut after which they returned to her.
"I'm ok." Jaune groaned.
"Woah, these are so cool!" Exclaimed Yang.
"Oh look at that, they actually work for you." Said Rock with a hint of surprise in his voice.
"What do you mean?" Asked Ruby.
"I never got much use out of them myself, same goes for the top spin, but it would seem that both Nora and Yang were able to find use for them. I guess it goes to show you that some weapons fit better with different people." Replied Rock, as he then held up the other three memory chips and asked "Now, who wants the Concrete Shot, The Needle Cannon and the Spark Shock?"
"If you don't mind, I'll take the Concrete Shot." Said Neptune, to which Rock merely nodded and threw the memory chip to him, to which Neptune received the message "Concrete Shot Obtained"
"I'll take Needle Man's weapon if you don't mind." Said Roll, which she immediately got and then she got the message "Needle Cannon Obtained."
"I only got two weapons so far, so if it's not too much of an issue..." Ruby started, as the memory chip got throw her way and she got the message "Spark Shock Obtained"
"Oh, so she can have more than one electric weapon." Said Nora.
"Nora, Ruby won't immediately go on a prank rampage when given multiple electric weapons." Replied Rock.
"Biased~" Both Nora and Yang sang, to which Rock merely rolled his eyes in response.
"Ignoring that, Ruby you'll have first claim for the weapon of the next robot that we fight."
"Really, why's that?" Asked Ruby.
"You only have about three weapons, while the rest either has four or five weapons. I like to keep things fair."
"I only have one." Oran said.
"I know bud, but there's still a ton of unused weapons back in the lab on Remnant that you can pick from when we get back." Replied Rock, to which Oran simply nodded. The group then left the room, and entered the next room, where they found themselves in an arena like room where Bass was standing in the middle, seemingly waiting for the group's arrival. "Hey Bass, I was wondering when we might end up seeing you." Said Rock, to which Bass merely scoffed in reply.
"Hey buddy, he was merely trying to be friendly, no need to be rude." Said Coco.
"I'm currently what stands between you and reaching the doctor, I will not allow you to go any further than this." Replied Bass.
"We've heard that exact same thing being said by several dozen other robots and they were all wrong." Ren stated.
"Then it's a good thing I'm not alone." Said Bass, as he snapped his fingers.
"What, are you going to send our robotic duplicates after us again all so you can have a one on one fight against Rock?" Asked Ruby.
"No, they are elsewhere, I have something much different planned for this encounter. See, I tried to even the odds last time and that didn't work, so this time I'll double my own odds while halving yours Mega Man."
"What does that even mean..." Blake wondered, as both her and Velvet's ears then picked up an incoming noise and they both exclaimed "Rock, duck!"
"There are no ducks here." Replied Rock, only for him to be hit by a playing card that went through him and took the double gear system out of him, which then entered into Bass as he immediately received a boost of power from the second double gear system. And immediately after that barrier formed that trapped Rock and Bass inside of it, while a robot that looked like a magician appeared next to Bass. "Magic Man, always a pleasure, I see you got an upgrade." Rock said, still trying to comprehend what had just happened.
"Correct, I can't have the audience ruin the performance of a lifetime." Replied Magic Man, who turned to Bass and asked "What would you like me to do now."
"Give his friends a performance, I'll deal with Mega Man myself." Said Bass.
"Your wish is my command." Replied Magic Man, who threw a smoke bomb on the ground and teleported himself out of the barrier, where a spotlight then shone on the group as he said "Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages, while your friend will be fighting for his life, you'll be given a complementary show, with a prize at the end." As a flurry of cards were shot out at the group at rapid speed, making none of them be able to react as all of their weapons were taken by Magic Man "That prize being, your own weapons."
"Cool, you made one big mistake however, we can still fight without our weapons." Replied Cardin.
"Yeah Professor Goodwitch has been having us train without them on occasion, so you taking all of them really doesn't put us at a disadvantage." Replied Velvet.
"See, if you had taken our semblances, then we might have been in trouble, but you didn't." Added Nora, as she got smacked in the back of the head by Sun and Neptune. "Ow."
"Don't give him ideas." Pyrrha hissed.
"I'll be sure to remember that, now, give me a show I'll never forget." Replied Magic Man, who's confident attitude immediately vanished upon seeing the rest of group lunge towards him, as he tried to get away from them.
In the meantime though, Bass and Rock were still standing opposed to one another while Bass was gloating to his rival "You mocked me before for losing to you, but look at you now, you've got no extra power to help you out, your allies are too busy getting their own weapons back and all you have to oppose me with is a little lemon shooter and some weapons, it won't do you much good in the long run however, for I'm going to beat you, right here, right now."
"Bring it on then." Replied Rock, as he started to charge up his buster.
Hyper Charged Rival - Bass
"Those will be the last words you ever speak!" Bass exclaimed as he rushed towards Rock at rapid speed, who tried to shoot Bass with several charged shots, but found himself unable to rapid fire the charge shots due to a lack of the speed gear and so only fired one shot which Bass quickly dodged as he then aimed his buster at Rock and fired several charged shots, causing Rock to get hit by several blasts from Bass within seconds due to the use of two speed gears.
Rock however got back up quickly, shrugged off the damage he took and started to keep an eye on where Bass was starting to appear and disappear to, where he even managed to dodge several hits that Bass tried to get in as well as some blasts from his blaster. All the while Rock was thinking to himself "Ok got his pattern figured, he's going to try and rush me from all sides, I can do this, just gotta stay focused and... ah an opening." As he then threw out a black hole bomb right in the path where Bass was trying to strike Rock.
The bomb exploded, creating a miniature black hole that Bass was starting to get sucked into, as Rock shot a barrage of metal blades and ballade crackers at Bass in an attempt to slow down Bass' speed and get him sucked into the black hole. Only for Bass' speed to continue rising so much that he was eventually able to outrun the black hole and then punched Rock in the face with a powerful strike, as the black hole vanished.
Rock then noticed some smoke coming from Bass and thought to himself "He's overloading himself, if I can keep this up I can totally beat him, just gotta keep him moving." As Rock used the slide to go underneath Bass as he tried to blast Rock repeatedly with the charged shots from his arm cannon, only for every single one of them to miss their target as Rock continued to build up speed by sliding over the floor, while unnoticed to Bass he left a trail of oil behind.
He then used the oil that was on the ground to slide himself to Bass at rapid speed, who was too late to realise what was going on, as so he was met with a barrage ballade crackers to the face at rapid speed from Rock. This knocked Bass backwards into the wall of the forcefield, as Rock noticed that the use of two double gear systems was beginning to weigh heavily on the other robot as more and more smoke was starting to come from him.
But before he even could say anything, Bass got back up looking incredibly pissed off and shouting "You think this is over, think again! Treble, to me!" As Bass' loyal canine companion appeared onto the battlefield and began to merge with Bass. Rock seeing an opportunity in this moment shouted "Rush! Tango! Beat! Now!" Summoning all three of his pets, and fusing them with him, both of them turning into beams of energy. A few seconds later both rivals emerged back on the battlefield in their new forms, as Bass was now completely purple and had wings, while Rock was now red with wings, and was wielding a lance in the shape of Beat and a shield in the shape of Tango.
The two robots immediately clashed with one another, flying through the air and hitting each other with powerful blasts of energy from their buster, but after a while Rock started to notice that Bass stopped firing shots at him and instead tried to punch him repeatedly, which Rock was able to dodge, as he threw his shield at Bass, after which he impaled Bass in the gut with his lance. But it didn't do a whole lot, as instead of wincing Bass smirked, grabbed Rock by the arm and threw him into the ground.
"This is over Mega Man, prepare to die, today I prove I'm the better robot out of the two of us!" Bass exclaimed, as he then expanded his buster and shot a massive laser downwards towards Rock. With him seeing no other option, he flew upwards into the laser with his lance pointed outward first and flew himself into the laser, which normally would have hurt, but with Rock being much more focused on getting through the laser he kept going forwards, with him not even noticing that his armour was beginning to change in appearance.
He kept going, and going, and going until he finally managed to get himself through the laser, quickly jammed Bass' arm cannon with a metal blade and then punched Bass in the face, causing him to fall to the ground, while he was caught in an explosion due to his arm cannon jamming. He then fell onto the ground, and looked up to see Rock's new form, where Rock looked a lot bulkier, had his blue colours again, had a yellow crown on his head and red wings on his back.
"How is this possible... you shouldn't be able to do this..." Bass uttered, as he tried to get back up to his feet, but found himself unable to.
"Confused..." Rock said, as he took in his new hyper form "...so am I." As he then fired a massive laser into Bass, which he then followed up by firing several homing missiles in the shape of beat at Bass, after which he followed it up by firing several smaller energy beams in the shape of Rush and Tango downwards. Creating a massive explosion as Bass was caught in it and Rock descended back to the ground, where he shedded his new hyper form and stood in front of his rival who was now struggling to get back up.
"Impossible." Bass uttered.
"No, not impossible Bass, inevitable. It's like I said back in the castle, no matter how much power you have you'll always squander it with your tunnel vision." Replied Rock.
"I'll get stronger... just watch me..." Replied Bass, as Magic Man appeared beside him, looking immensely beat up.
"Well, looks like you had fun." Said Rock, as he was immediately given back his own double gear system by Magic Man.
"What are you doing... you could have beat him... why give it back to him?" Bass asked.
"Because I don't have a death wish Bass, now, I've given them their weapons back, so we're getting out of here."
"No... I can still... fight..." Bass muttered, before going unconscious.
"I doubt it." Replied Magic Man, who then turned to Rock and the rest of the group, bowed and said "You've all been a fantastic audience, but now I must bid you all adieu, ciao." He said as both of them teleported away, leaving the group behind as Rock dropped to his knees in exhaustion, but was quickly handed an energy tank by Yang.
"Still had one on you huh?" Asked Rock.
"Sure did." Replied Yang.
"You doing ok Rock?" Asked Ruby, while Rock took the entire energy tank and felt his energy return to him.
"I do now, that was a tough one." Said Rock, as he got back up.
"And how are Rush, Beat and Tango doing?" Asked Ruby.
"They're fine, they didn't get hurt too badly." Replied Rock.
"No kidding that it was a tough one, I mean look at the size of the hole in the floor from that laser." Said Yatsuhashi.
"Yeah, let's try not to fall into it, we don't know where that hole might lead to." Said Weiss.
"Sorry we let the magic robot get away." Said Jaune with a sheepish look on his face.
"That's fine, he's a tricky one, he's managed to get away before. We'll see him again, I'm not too hung up about it." Replied Rock.
"So what's his deal, other than the obvious?" Asked Sun.
"From what I've heard, which isn't a whole lot, but I heard that he was a magician at a travelling circus who liked to show off and then he willingly joined Wily's side to be able to show off more." Replied Rock.
"He was quite arrogant and all showboaty when we fought him, so that adds up." Said Fox, as Rock then turned to Ballade as there was question that had been burning in the back of his mind.
"Tell me Ballade, are there any other Robot Masters on the Wily Star or did we take care off them all?" Asked Rock.
"No you took care off all of them, although, Wily did say he had a little surprise waiting at the end." Replied Ballade.
"Sounds promising." Said Pyrrha.
"And... not entirely correct... not everyone... was taken care off" Said a timid sounding sudden voice, as the group turned around to see Quint standing in front of them.
Yang and the rest of Team RRWBY gasped, as Yang said "It's you."
"Hey... me, how are you doing?" Asked Rock, as he tried to approach his alternate future self, but was quickly stopped when Quint held out his hand as to say don't go any further.
"Don't come any closer!... Please." Said Quint.
"Huh?" Rock wondered.
"Hey, Rock, what's wrong?" Asked Roll.
"Stop it." Said Quint.
"But what's going on, Ro..." Roll was about to ask, only to be interrupted by Quint.
"Don't finish that! Please, I'm not Rock anymore, I can't even call myself Mega Man anymore, I'm just Quint."
"But you're still me, there's nothing that will ever change that, you're still Mega Man at heart. You're still" Said Rock.
"No, I would love to, but after becoming the thing I swore to fight against all those years ago, I can't continue calling myself Mega Man or Rock for that matter."
"But... then why did you come to us?" Asked Penny.
"I want you to destroy me Mega Man, take me out for good, destroy my memory chip, ensure I can't ever be repaired. Please, I'm begging you, end my existence?" Quint begged, as he dropped to his knees and started crying.
"WHAT! No, I wouldn't do that, I can't do that. Why would you even want me to do that? You still have so much to live for!" Exclaimed Rock.
"That's where you're wrong, I have nothing left to live for now... I'm not who I used to be, I became the very thing I swore to fight against and I have no home to return to, Wily made sure of that."
"What did he do?" Asked Weiss.
"He used the time scanner with which he travelled to the future to get me and ensured that this version of the past lost it's connection to the future from which I came from, he trapped me here to ensure I would cooperate... so please, fulfil my request and end my existence. That's all I want, to rest." Replied Quint, to which Rock merely approached him, while Quint said "Don't!" but was ignored, as he placed a hand on his shoulder and hugged him.
"I'm not going to end your existence, and not just because of the implications that would bring, but because there are still things worth living for. You don't have a home to return to, or a family for that matter, but look around, you can come with us and become a part of our family, I'm sure dad wouldn't mind having you around as well." Said Rock, trying to get his alternate future self to listen.
"Oh right, dad."
"He is right, a family is not always the people you have a blood relation with, sometimes it is the people you grow close to, the people you work with, the people you fight alongside with." Said Weiss.
"They're right, so please, take our hand, stop living in the dark and instead start living in the light again." Ruby pleaded.
"You might not think you're worthy to be called Rock or Mega Man, but your still my brother, and that makes Rock Light." Said Roll.
"Listen to them Quint, they're all good people, you've simply forgotten that you were once a good person as well." Added Ballade.
"And you're all saying the truth?" Asked Quint, as Rock let him and nodded to him "Then... I'll join you guys on your journey."
"You won't regret it, maybe you'll find your way back to being Mega Man or you'll become someone else, but either way you'll find yourself again." Said Ruby.
"Thank you... uhm, I never got any of your names, who are you guys?" Asked Quint.
"Oh that's easy, I'm Ruby Rose, leader of Team RRWBY and these are..." Ruby said, as she started to introduce the rest of the group to Quint while at the same time the group left the arena and continued to move forward, where they then made their way over to a long winded hallway that had hieroglyphics on the walls that were depicting battles Rock had had with Doctor Wily in the past.
"Huh, why did he built a pirate themed machine?" Asked Cardin.
"No idea." Replied Rock.
"A bit arrogant to put all of this on the wall leading up to your chamber." Said Weiss.
"It's not even accurate, he gave himself abs on these hieroglyphs." Said Sun.
"No way, he didn't." Said Yang, as she and the rest of the group quickly looked at the images on the wall and quickly had the claim proven to them.
"Oh wow, he really did." Said Neptune.
"You know Sun, if you want accuracy then I guess that this is more your style." Said Rock, as he summoned Rush and used the hologram projector on his back to show recordings of all the previous times Wily had been beaten and was begging for forgiveness. After all the recordings had been shown off Rush turned off the hologram projector and teleported away, while the rest of the group were still laughing at what they had seen.
"Oh I needed that." Said Sun, as he and the rest of the group calmed down and quit their laughter. The group then made it to the end of the hallway where they were met with a massive door blocking their path, so Yang quickly punched through it and blasted the door open.
"Wily, we're home!" Yang yelled out.
"And we brought knuckle sandwiches." Added Nora, as the lights turned off and a single one turned one to start focusing on Wily standing in the middle of the room, although to the group it was obvious he was nothing more than a hologram.
"Ah Doctor, have you finally decided to stop running?" Asked Weiss.
"Not quite, while I do admit you've all driven me into a corner, there is still one last trick I have up my sleeve." Replied Wily, snapping his fingers as two more lights turned on to focus on two other robots, those robots being King and Sunstar.
"What the... King, but how?" Asked Rock.
"Easy, I found him wandering the deserts of Vacuo a few weeks ago, so I captured him and reprogrammed him to once again do my bidding." Replied Wily, as he pressed a nearby button that activated the two robots. "Now, King, Sunstar, take care of the intruders and those two traitorous bolt buckets."
"Yes, master Wily." Both Robot's replied, as King summoned his axe and Sunstar stood in a fighting stance.
Two Doomsday Weapons For The Price Of One - King and Sunstar
Sunstar immediately initiated the battle by firing several rapid fire lasers from his arm cannon, which split up the group as they were forced to dodge out of the way, as King then rushed in and tried to slice Rock with his axe, who in turn used the speed gear to dodge out of the way, after which he threw several metal blades at the robot who used his axe to deflect them. Blake then dropped in delivered several slashes to the robot with his acid barrier infused blades, which Sun then followed up by delivering several blasts from his nunchucks while also using them to block swings from the axe.
King however delivered a powerful slash to both Sun and Blake, knocking them away, as Cardin then rushed in and with an enlarged maced due to the use of his sand, he slammed it onto King, while a wave of icicles travelled across the floor to Sunstar who got knocked out of the way as a result of that, who then got shot repeatedly by Oran's arrows, Roll's needle cannon, Pyrrha's magnet missiles, as well as Ren's hyper bomb and Yatsuhashi's scorch wheel when he landed on thee floor.
But Sunstar merely shrugged off the attacks, as he fired another barrage of lasers across the room, knocking some of them down, while Jaune with the flame sword rushed in and delivered several flaming strikes to the robot launching him in the air, which Penny followed up on repeatedly striking the robot with her fire storm infused blades, after which he was hit by several flash bombs that were shot from Coco's mini gun, who then proceeded to repeatedly shoot the robot, creating an opening for Nora to use the top spin to repeatedly strike him.
Only for her, and the rest of the group to get knocked down by a surprise attack from King's axe who had managed to get out from under the massive mace, only for both him and Sunstar to get buried underneath a heap of blocks that were dropped on them by Weiss, who then rained a tundra storm down on them, which temporarily froze Sunstar in place, while King was quickly able to break free from the trap, as he tried to slice Weiss, only for Ruby to quickly get her out of the way through the use of her speed.
After which Ruby got into a struggle of blades against King's axe, as the two tried to repeatedly strike one another, only for neither to be able to deliver a proper blow to the other, so Ruby decided to create some distance between the two of them as she ran away from the robot and from a safe distance fired several scramble thunder's at the robot. Which King deflected with his axe, after which he threw the axe at Ruby who quickly ducked out of the way as King then tried to lunge for Ruby, only for Yang to knock him out of his path with an uppercut to the face.
King was now without an axe, so Yang quickly began to deliver several punches to the robot, which she then switched up by mixing both the hard knuckle and the blazing torch to launch her gauntlets into King's face as a flaming flurry of punches, this caused King to get knocked into Sunstar, who had managed to get back up, and got hit by the rolling cutter from Fox and several pharaoh shots fired Velvet's camera, which was then followed up by Neptune shooting the robot with the freeze cracker, putting him in place.
However, it didn't work, as instead both robot's freed themselves and got back up, where Sunstar then fired a massive laser in the group, knocking everyone down to the ground, save for Rock, Roll, Ballade and Quint. Rock turned to his alternate future self and said "Quint, I know this may seem scary right now, but I believe in you." to which Quint nodded and summoned his pogo stick, as the group got ready to strike the two robots.
Quint immediately used his pogo stick to launch himself into the air and then landed on top of the two robot's which stunned them in place, which Roll then followed up by firing several photon missiles at the two robot, after which Ballade and Rock fired an entire barrage of ballade crackers at the two robots, which created a massive explosion that upon being cleared away revealed that the two robot's had been knocked down to the ground.
"Impressive, but did you really think that this would be it?" Asked Wily, as he pressed another button and from the floor's rose a tank and a flying machine, that immediately began to merge with the two robots, until finally the two had completely merged and become one complete being, that looked like a massive mechanical golem version of King, with Sunstar's headpiece on the top of the machine, with it having tank threads on for feet and a massive laser cannon mounted on it's torso. "You like it? I call this a blast from the past."
"Dammit, not that thing again, it was already difficult enough for me and Bass to take it down last time. And now nearly everyone is down for the count, we're not gonna make it, but I'm going to have to try." Rock thought to himself, but before he or anyone else for that matter was able to do anything about their current situation, the laser on the chest of began to charge up, Rock tried to avail to take down the robot by shooting it repeatedly, only for the laser to fire and to knock everyone down to the ground.
Rock tried to get back up, but instead he saw that the robot was beginning to charge up another blast, that was until a massive crash shook the station and an explosion created a massive hole in the wall. Rock looked over and gasped as he said "Duo."
"You again!" Doctor Wily exclaimed.
"Don't worry Mega Man, I got this." Said Duo, as he turned his right hand into an army cannon and then began to charge his arm cannon, taking in weapon energy from the people that were around him, while he was doing that he was thinking "There is a lot of abilities for me to copy, this should be a breeze." As he then unleashed massive beam of energy that was filled with all the weapon abilities that the entire group infiltrating the Wily Star had obtained, and after what seemed like ages the massive device had been blown to pieces and King and Sunstar were laying down on the ground.
Duo then walked over to the two robots, put his hands on their heads and started to take away the programming that Doctor Wily had implanted in them, all the while the doctor was screaming at him to stop what he was doing, after a few seconds Duo had managed to removed the programming and made his way over to the heroes, and helped them get back up.
"Duo, thank you, but how did you know to come here?" Asked Rock.
"I didn't, I was originally going after something else when I got a gut feeling to come here instead." Replied Duo.
"Ugh... what did you do to us?" Asked King, as he got back up alongside Sunstar and then saw Rock, so he rushed over to him and began to pat him on the back "Mega Man, it's so good to see you again, how are you my boy?"
"It's great to see you again King, you too Sunstar." Replied Rock, to which Sunstar merely bowed as a sign of respect to Rock and the others.
"I apologise for the trouble I and my allies caused you all." Said Sunstar.
"It's alright, what's done is done, nothing that can be changed about that." Replied Ruby, as Wily's flying capsule then burst into the room from the ceiling and opened to reveal the real Wily, looking incredibly angry, but unbeknownst to everyone but Blake and Velvet a ticking sound was being heard coming from the capsule.
"You've done it now, you've really done it now. Do you know how much time I spend on building this space station, and putting everything into place, well do you? But no matter, no matter, no matter, I'll come back, with a different plan... I know your weaknesses... I know your strengths... I'll win next time, count on it!" Wily yelled out, only for Blake to throw the rope of her weapon around his torso, managing to pull Wily out of there before the capsule exploded, dropping Wily to the floor as he quickly managed to grab a small micro chip that fell onto the floor alongside him and put it into his pocket without anyone noticing.
"How did you..." Wily started, only for him to realise who he was asking as he then stopped himself and said "Ah right, extra set of ears."
Rock then walked over to Doctor Wily, smacked him in the face a few times to check if he was real and then said "Doctor Albert Wily, I'm placing you under arrest. Does anyone have any handcuffs with them?"
"I do." Said Velvet, as she pulled out her camera and summoned a copy of some handcuffs, except they weren't your average handcuffs, these had pink fabric on them.
"Yeah... does anyone have some rope on them that they can tie me up with, I'd rather not wear something so embarrassing." said Wily.
"Huh." Velvet wondered.
"Velvet, honey, I don't think those are the handcuffs Rock meant." Said Coco, as Velvet looked down and turned bright red upon seeing what she summoned with her camera.
Cardin then turned to Sun and Neptune and said "Hah, told you she was the one with the pants in the relationship, now pay up."
"Later." Both replied.
"Velvet, there are children here." Blake half jokingly scolded, as Yang, Weiss and Roll quickly covered the eyes of Ruby, Oran and Penny respectively.
"I'll be sure to not let him out of my sight." Said Yatsuhashi, as he grabbed Wily by the shoulder to ensure he wouldn't leave. However, it was then that the Wily Star began to shake violently.
"What's going on!?" Yelled Yang.
Duo having his suspicions as to what is going on exclaimed "Ra Moon, reveal yourself!" As a monitor then appeared from the ceiling, turned on to reveal a massive red eye looking back at them.
"Greetings Duo, it has been a while since we last saw one another, several centuries I might even say." Replied Ra Moon, as the Wily Star continued to shake.
"What are you doing Ra Moon?" Asked Duo.
"Sending this space station on a crash course to Remnant, it lost all value to me so I hacked the controls to get this result, and instead I'll make due with ruling over what remains of Remnant after this space station crashes into it."
"You won't get away with this!" Duo yelled out.
"I already have, I managed to not just lure you onto this doomed vessel, but the current heroes of Remnant as well."
"We won't let that happen." Replied Rock.
"Then I wish you good luck, for you have mere minutes to save yourselves and your pitiful planet. Good luck." Said Ra Moon, as his screen turned off and the shaking of the space station got worse.
"What do we do?" Asked Ruby.
"Guys, how did you get here?" Asked Duo.
"Through a space ship, why do you ask?" Said Weiss.
"Ok good, Doctor does this place have any weaknesses to exploit?" Asked Duo.
"I'm not telling you anything." Said Wily.
"There are several vents on the outside that lead to the core, fire a shot into it and you'll be good." Ballade interrupted, making Wily give him an annoyed look.
"Very good, you humans go into the space ship and blow up this space station, us robots will keep the space station from crashing into the planet. Is that understood?" Asked Duo, to which the group nodded so Duo added "Then go, we're all counting on you."
The humans that were part of the group nodded and ran off back the way they had originally came here, while Rock shouted at them "Good luck guys, I believe in you!" He then turned to Duo and asked "How were you able to do all of these things earlier?"
"It's some abilities I was given upon my creation, although remember when we met the first time and I said that you and I were more similar than you thought?" Asked Duo, to which Rock nodded "Well, let's just say that you'll find out that there is more truth to that then you think. Now come on." Duo added, as the group of robots ran off.
Several Minutes Later
The Atlas Mark 1 had managed to blast it's way through the outer hull of the Wily Star, and turned around to face the Wily Star where it's occupants saw that the Wily Star was being stopped from crashing by the hard work of the robots that were part of the group and were trying to hold it in place through Duo sharing his personal gravity with them to keep the group in place, which wasn't easy, as the space station kept moving no matter how much resistance was being put against it.
So the ship opened up it's hangar and send out several smaller ships, that consisted of Team R_WBY, Team JNPR, as well as Sun and Neptune, with them flying over towards the out hull of the Wily Star and began to shoot at the turrets that were beginning to fire back at them as a form of defence, but what none of them were knew was that a small group of opposing ships left the Wily star and were going in pursuit of the heroes.
Coco, who was still on the ship, noticed this and called in through the intercoms "Guys, you've got company."
"Company, there was no one left, who could be going after us?" Asked Sun.
"Surprise meat bags, thought you'd seen the last of us, huh!" Exclaimed Phoenix through the intercoms as well.
"You guys again, don't you have anything better to do?" Asked Weiss, as she took out several more turrets.
"Not quite, besides, giving you guys trouble is our job in life." Said Shen, as he and the rest of the robotic duplicates initiated their attacks on the heroes by starting to fire their cannons at the.
"Bring it on then." Replied Ren, as he pulled on the steering wheel to do several manoeuvres to dodge out of the way of the fire, while he and the people from his side tried to find the proper spot to shoot the core.
A group consisting off Lumi, Yin, Paris, John and Shen all made a formation together and began to rapid fire at a group consisting of Sun, Blake, Weiss, Ren and Jaune, who all tried their best to avoid the shots being taken at them, only for the five evil robots to drive them all into a corner along the trench, where they shot them down, making their ships crash, luckily the Atlas Mark 1 quickly swooped in, shot the robots down and quickly let the group back into the ship.
In the meanwhile Ruby had successfully managed to shoot down the spacecrafts of Ebony and Sylvie, having clearly learned from her previous experience, but around her the ships of Nora, Pyrrha and Neptune were being shot down by Phoenix, who then yelled over the intercoms "You might as well give up now, you're outmatched."
"Maybe, but she isn't outgunned!" Yelled Yang, as she she rushed in with her space craft and began to lead Phoenix away from Ruby while saying "You got this rubes, you're so close to reaching the goal, I'll be sure to keep her off your tail!"
"Noted." Said Ruby, as she then turned off the intercom and started to focus on the air vent that was now getting closer to her, but with each passing second she got more and more nervous as she thought "Come on, I got this, I can do this, it's just one shot, how hard can it be?"
But as her faith was starting to slip away, a familiar, almost motherly voice spoke to her in the back of her mind "You can do this... focus... take aim... don't hesitate and take the shot." As Ruby took a deep breath and fire her shot into the hole, which it then went into as it quickly started travelling downwards towards the core. Ruby then quickly flew away from the space station that was surely due to explode within the next few seconds, as she then flew back to the Atlas Mark 1 and then along the way picked up Yang whose ship had also been shot down while she was aiming for the exhaust vent.
She then entered the Atlas Mark 1 with her own ship, as she saw that Rock and the rest of the robots were flying back to the main ship, right as the Wily Star exploded, but before she could even begin to celebrate, the ship started to shake as she yelled out "What's going on!" as laughter was heard over the intercom of the space craft.
"Ruby, did you really forget about me?" Asked Phoenix, as Ruby looked outside as she saw that the last remaining robot duplicate was starting to shoot down the ship, all the while avoiding the turret fire from the ship's defence system. "Such a pity, oh well, enjoy your trip back down to Remnant, we'll see each other if you manage to survive this." The communication then turned off, as an explosion went off right as the ship was once again caught in the gravitational pull of the planet.
"I won't let you get away with this, count on it!" Yelled Ruby, as the ship began to shake even more.
"Everyone brace yourself! We're going to be in for a heavy landing!" Yelled Coco, as the ship began to crash through Remnant's atmosphere towards the ground, while Duo, Rock and the others watched on in horror as they quickly went after them.
Meanwhile in Vacuo
Deep within the fortress Ra Moon sat still as it was running calculations, when it's eye opened up and it said "A pity the plan failed, luckily there is always plan B" As the robot then let out several electromagnetic waves that went all over Remnant, as the piles of robot scrap metal that had been beaten by the huntsmen of Remnant turned into a mess of electric liquid that started to infect the ground it was laying on and began to slowly expand outwards.
A/N: And there you have it, the Wily Star is gone, but many more dangers now lurk within Remnant. Anyways, happy third anniversary to this story and this year I managed to get it out on the day off the anniversary, so yay for me. I can promise you all, the arc with definitely be done this year, I know I said that last year, but life can be unpredictable. Like I would have gotten this chapter out sooner, but I got sick for a while, so I couldn't get a lot done, but it's out now, and I hope you all enjoyed reading.
As for some trivia, the big golem that Sunstar and King were turned into was based on the big golem boss from Mega Man and Bass, you know, the one that had the three hardest boss in the game in it. Fun times. And the hyper form that Rock turned into during his battle against Bass was based around his hyper Mega Man form from Marvel vs Capcom.
