Chapter 15

Peter Pan

Since Matt skipped the Track Game, Coach Brian was very hard on him.

Coach Brian would always shout at Matt to run faster and would always say stuff like "God didn't bring me a talented kid just to have him let his team lose on purpose."

When the bell rang, Matt met up with the girls again.

"Well, the Coach is hard on me now," he said.

"Don't you think it was worth being there to support your friend?" asked Sasha.

Matt thought about the best way to respond before saying "I guess."

"Anyway," said Sasha. "We're gonna have to stay after school for theater rehearsal."

"These rehearsals are gonna be easy," said Matt. "I watched the movie, the sequel, and the remake, and since I'm cast as Smee, it shouldn't be a problem."

"Lucky, I was given the lead," said Anne. "And we all know what happened the last time I was the lead."

Anne, Sasha, and Marcy thought back to the tooth play incident, and shuddered remembering most burning in the fire.

"Well at least you'll have armholes to remove the risk of tripping," said Sasha. "Back on the Cast Topic, I was cast as the villain. Makes sense. I make a great villain."

"I'm gonna be Wendy," said Marcy. "I'll also be handling the backstage whenever I'm not on stage."

"Let's hope you don't zone out, again," Sasha told Marcy.

The 4 entered the auditorium.

2 Months Later…

After two months worth of rehearsal and painful Track Practice, and a Track Game where Matt actually showed and won, it was time for the play.

Matt and the girls spent as much time as possible rehearsing their lines and making sure nothing goes wrong.

During the school's first performance, everything seemed to be fine. No one messed up on their lines, the backstage team had full control of the ropes that were meant to simulate the kids flying, and the fighting choreography was top notch.

The main thing that went wrong was during the climax, where Anne was "flying" and they lost control of the rope, causing Anne to fly around the stage uncontrollably.

Anne called Marcy for help, as she was the one controlling the ropes, but she was busy playing her Switch. Eventually, the rope broke and sent Anne into the crowd.

Matt, Sasha, and Marcy all hurried to find Anne and bring her to the Nurse's Office.

As it turns out, Anne broke her arm and sprained her leg when she fell into the crowd, so the school had to end the show early and postpone any further shows until Anne recovers.

On the way out, Matt saw how Anne was having trouble walking.

"Hey Anne?" asked Matt. "You need me to carry you?"

"What?" Anne replied, blushing. "I'm fine. Who's Anne?"

"And scoop," said Matt, as he scooped Anne into his arms, making her blush even more.

As Matt carried Anne out of the school and back to her parents, Anne just stared at Matt blushing and just thinking how handsome he looks.

Once Matt gets Anne into her parents' car, they drive to the hospital.

In the car, Bee looks at Anne through the mirror with a small mischievous grin.

"I can tell you've got a crush on him," he said.

"What?" said Anne. "We're not a thing. Matt and I are just friends."

"For now," Bee jokes. "But seriously, it was nice of him to help you, so if you do become a thing, you have my full support."

Meanwhile, Matt was in his parents' car heading home.

"So, I saw how you carried Anne out of the school," said Julia. "That was very sweet of you."

"It was the right thing to do," Matt replied.

"It's very kind of you to be so considerate," said Daniel. "We just want you to know that we're proud."

"Thanks," said Matt.
