Chapter 31: Just your standard training Part 2

Ash was now getting into the groove of things as he send out his Nymble for some practice on his jumps. Ash could tell that he had some powerful jumping skills, but they were rather rough around the edges and need some refinement, so he decided to get out an old friend to help out with training.

"Alright Nymble, get ready to see an old friend of mine, she'll help you improve your jumps" Ash said as he pulled out a pokeball. "Come on out!" He then threw the capsule into the air, and emerging from the ball was a giant bird of prey with a large wingspan and a yellow and red crest flowing majestically from her head.

"Pidgeooooooooooo!"

That's right, Ash's Pidgeot has returned to fight alongside Ash, and help out with the training of his new Pokemon. "Hey there girl, ready for some action?" Ash said while petting her head "Pidgeo pidg" "Glad to hear that."

Nymble just looked at Pidgeot with curiosity on his face. "Ok Nymble, Pidgeot here will help you refine your jumping abilities, most importantly how to properly use your jumping to dodge attacks.

Nymble merely cocked his head, wondering what his training was going on about. "Here's what I mean, Pidgeot here will try and hit you with Wing Attack, and you need to dodge it at just the right moment by jumping over her, do you understand?" Ash explained, to which Nymble understood.

The grasshopper then got into position as Pidgeot flew high into the air with her wings glowing light blue. Nymble got ready for the bird to come at him, and at the last moment, he leapt into the air and avoided the would-be super effective attack. However, the sheer speed that Pidgeot was flying at meant that she kicked up quite a lot of wind that pushed Nymble through the air like a balloon.

"Ooh, that may be a problem" Ash said while rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. Nevertheless, Nymble continued with this reaction training until he could jump quicker and just at the moment where he'd get hit with the attack.

"You're doing great Nymble" Ash praised while he pulled out a pokebean, he is the Alola Champion so he would get a bunch of these regional treats from fans.

He handed the little grasshopper a bean, whom began to nibble it down until it was nothing. He then began hopping all around the area, off of trees and branches, even jumping off of his fellow Pokemon who were confused as to what had happened.

"That's the kind of energy that Dawn's Pachirisu has" Ash remarks while chuckling to himself, he can definitely use that kind of energy to Nymble's benefit.

Over with the students, Carla was showing Wiglett how to use Water Pulse, and she did this by showing her how to form the gathered water energy into a ball and then firing it. She then saw Veluza spinning faster, honing his Fillet Away move so that he can do it instantly. She smiled knowing that her Pokemon were going places.

Thomas meanwhile was having his Shroodle use Fury Swipes on a nearby tree to enhance it's practical use, until it was able to completely shred through the tree's bark like an axe.

"Nice one Shroodle, sooner or later we'll get you to learn Slash"

"Shroo shroo shroo"

He then saw his Gastly trying to use Hypnosis on Clodsire, but the poison fish was so aloof and oblivious he didn't pay attention. That was when Thomas got an idea.

"Hey Gastly, how about you try and use Hypnosis on Vanny over there"

The gas Pokemon smirked and appeared right in front of Vanny, and used the sleep inducing move, and soon enough, she was out like a light.

"Wonder why Clodsire wasn't affected"

Clodsire slowly turned his head towards Vanny before looking away.

Penny decided to teach her Flareon how to use Trailblaze. Considering that the normal Flareon has a limited variety in moves, she considers it a top priority. She also feels that Flareon also needs to become faster, which she's already working on with Flareon knowing Flame Charge, but a move like Trailblaze would also help with covereage against all of the fire type's weaknesses. To put it plain and simple, she was knocking out 4 birds with one stone, if you count the weaknesses as their own bird.

Then there was Felia, who decided to have her Vivillon learn Solarbeam to take on those rock types that would definitely give her a hard time, while Rellor was trying to make his Rollout attack faster, and he's doing so by getting on top of the mud ball and riding it like a clown at the circus.

Gus meanwhile was having his Bellibolt use electric attacks on his Shellder so he could build up tolorance towards his weaknesses, and he planned to have Capsakid do the same, but Shellder began to pelt him with Ice Shard when he said that, and his other two Pokemon just laughed at their agitated Pokemon attacking Gus for even daring to recommend such an idea, even if it's for the best.

Suddenly, a net sprouted from out of nowhere, but Charcadet spotted it and burned it to ashes with Ember.

"Alright who did that?!" Nemona demanded, and just like that, Team Rocket appeared.

"Since the big twerp isn't here, we'll just take your Pokemon while he's preoccupied" Jessie smirked and sent out her Gimmighoul "And there's nothing you can do" James bragged while sending out his Varoom.

"Let's get this over with" Meowth said while priming his claws.

Varoom charged forward with Iron Head, but it was met head on with Dondozo's Wave Crash, and Gimmighoul was busy with stealing some of James' bottle caps.

"Well then, Wobbuffet, Mirror Coat!" The patient Pokemon ended up deflecting a Hex attack and sending it back at the group, but it was quickly taken down when Nemona's Lycanroc bit down with Bite and shook him around like a chew toy before tossing him back at the bumbling duo. Meowth dashed forward with Night Slash and actually managed to land a critical hit on Lycanroc, sending her backwards.

"I've been practicing, pretty cool huh?"

It was, until Pawmot laid into him with Close Combat until he was a smoky cat in a crater.

"Or not" Meowth moaned, and Azumarill proceeds to send them sky high with Aqua Tail.

"LOOKS LIKE TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF AGAIN!"

"WOOOOOOOOOBBUUUUUUUUUU!"

And just like that, they were gone.

"Hey, what happened here?" Ash said while running up to his students "We managed to send Team Rocket flying before they could steal anything" Carla said with pride in her voice. "It wasn't that impressive" Penny muttered to herself as she continued to teach Flareon how to use Trailblaze.

"Well then, nice going, now I won't have to babysit you" Ash chuckled, which earned him a sock to the arm from Vanny.

Everyone laughed as they decided to take a break from training and continue on their way.
