Ruby Rose

I wipe the sweat from my forehead as I finish packing the last box and glance around my soon to be old room. Everything is now packed inside boxes and bags. It's not as bad as when I left my first room behind when me and Yang moved out of our old house but I start to get a little sad thinking about leaving this place.

Yang and I set out on our adult adventure with this apartment, this was my first adult home and that kinda causes an attachment. Yang and I had a lot of fun here and I will miss seeing my big sis every day, not to mention her amazing cooking.

Then I think about living with Weiss and sleeping in the same bed, eating dinner together every night, cuddling on the couch and watching movies…it doesn't make the sad feelings go away but it certainly makes them much easier to deal with.

It's been a couple of months since the incident at the Schnee mansion and since Weiss suggested we get our own place together. It feels like the time has really flown and I still can't believe the day has come. After today me and Weiss will officially be living together, every time that thought enters my mind I get all giddy.

After a while I hear a horn from outside and realize that it must be Yang, Blake, and Weiss with the moving truck. Me and Weiss decided to ask for extra help since moving all of our combined stuff into the new apartment would be a pain otherwise, especially since we lived on the second floor.

Jaune and Pyrhha couldn't help because they had class today. Ren and Nora had plans BUT Alan and Inu agreed to help. Not to mention Uncle Qrow and Robin! Dad would help but he said he had something else to deal with today.

"Hey guys!" I shout as I run down the stairs and straight into Weiss so I can give her a big hug.

"What's that all about?" she asks.

"No reason just felt like it." I reply grinning.

"Not like I mind or anything." she says blushing at the fact that everyone is giggling at us. "Did you get all your stuff packed dolt?"

"Yep everything is all set to move." I pronounce it proudly and jokingly salute. "Hey Blake thanks for the help, though I'm sure you're eager to fill the vacancy I'm leaving behind." I say winking and causing her to blush slightly.

"Don't be silly Ruby and there's no need to thank me, I mean it's the least I could do." she says smiling.

"Never say never kitty, after all, I'll be awful lonely without my baby sister to keep me company." Yang puts her arm around Blake.

"Stop Yang." Blake giggles and blushes, lightly pushing Yang off her.

"Alright everyone, enough flirting, lets get this show on the rode!" Weiss shouts and we all jokingly salute her.

It takes us about an hour or so to get everything in the truck. I don't have that much stuff. I mean the heaviest things we had to move were my desk and dresser. It just took a bit longer because we were having so much fun just joking around and generally acting like idiots. It felt like the good old days. More than once I could've sworn I saw Yang start to tear up and I know I hear a sniffle or two.

I guess she really didn't expect me to take such a huge step so soon but I'm sure she'll be okay. Besides she already invited Blake to move in and as soon as the lease runs out on her apartment she is going to. I know she'll take care of her. Once we have everything packed Yang and Blake get in the truck and start heading for Mine and Weiss' place. Weiss and I just hop on Whiterose to head on over.

Uncle Qrow and Robin were there waiting for us by the time we got there. It's nice seeing them get closer and closer. Uncle Qrow doesn't exactly have…the best track record with women. He needs someone who can bring out the best in him.

"Hey Kiddo!" he offers me a hug which I gladly accept.

"Hey Uncle Qrow, thanks for lending a hand!"

"Don't mention it, not like I had anything goin on anyway."

"Please, like you would have said no even if you did." Robin teases him.

"Oh oh, before we get started, Weiss and Ruby stand infront of the apartment building!" Yang pulls out her phone. "We need a picture of the lovebirds about to move into their new place!"

"Is that really necessary?" Weiss asks. I sneak up behind her and wrap my arms around her waist.

"Oh come on Weissy, it'll be a nice little memento of our first home together!" Weiss giggles and waves at Yang.

"Alright alright." She reaches back and places her hand on my cheek which I nestle into.

"Perfect!" Yang quickly takes a picture with her phone. "Awww, I'm definitely posting this one, you two are so adorable."

"Alright alright that's enough Yang." Weiss says before both our phones ding. When I unlock my phone I see that Yang already sent me the picture. Looking at it I can't not get all giddy. It really is a cute picture, Weiss just looks so pretty.

"Ruby you gonna help or what?" Uncle Qrow calls out, pulling me out of my own head.

"Y-Yeah sorry!"

We were a bit quicker about getting the stuff off the truck and into the apartment mostly because it was starting to get a tad late. We decided to set my desk up in the living room since there wasn't much room for it in ...our room. That is still gonna take some getting used to if I'm totally honest.

About halfway through is when Alan and Inu showed up, he actually startled me and made me drop something on my foot. He of course thought it was just hilarious at first, until he got scolded by Inu. The only girl in the world who can reign him in apparently.

After everything was mostly done, barring some unpacking, we were all starving so we decided to order some pizza. Weiss and I offered to pay to reward everyone for helping but Yang insisted, called it a house warming gift.

It didn't take very long for the pizza to arrive and once it did we all sat around in the living room and dug in.

"So how does it feel?" Alan asks, taking a huge bite out of a slice of Hawaiian pizza, him being the only person who would even touch it.

"What do you mean?" I grab my pizza and plop down on the couch next to Weiss.

"Moving in together duh."

"It's…still kind of setting in I think." Weiss says, smiling at me as I lean against her.

"Yeah for sure, but we'll get used to it pretty fast."

"Still never thought I'd see the day, still feels like yesterday that you and Yang barely came up to my knees." Uncle Qrow laughs, it sounded a little sad though. Robin gently pats his back.

"Yeah…I honestly never even imagined it'd happen." Yang says, leaning her head on Blakes shoulder and taking small bites of her pizza.

"It's a pretty big step, especially for the girls who the rest of were taking bets on when they'd finally get together back in school." Inu says and gets a small laugh out of everyone.

"Were we really that obvious?" Weiss asks.

"Yup, you especially." Blake says, making Weiss blush.

"Wh-What's that supposed to mean!?"

"Oh please, you were so love sick it was almost sad." Yang teases her, making her blush even more, puffing out her cheeks.

"Don't worry about it Weissy, I think it's cute." I poke her cheek.

"You got pretty bad later on Ruby." Yang says, this time making me blush.

"Y-Yeah? Well so what, I'm still love sick for my Weiss and I don't care who knows!" I shout, earning a unified 'Awww' from almost everyone in the room.

"Hush you dolt." Weiss says, lightly knocking me on the head but smiling while she does it.

"Well look at you guys now, I'd say you've come a pretty long way." Blake says.

"Yeah, next thing you know you'll be getting married." Inu says, causing Weiss and I to blush and making Qrow and Yang nearly choke on their food.

"Might be a bit early to be discussing that Inu." Yang says, gasping for air.

"Oh calm down you all I was only teasing." Inu says.

Now that I think about it…what would it be like to be married? How would be that different from what we are doing right now? I mean we already live together so what would it change…then again, being able to call Weiss my wife sounds…

"It sounds nice." I say in a hushed tone.

"What was that Ruby?" Weiss asks but I immediately brush it off.

"O-Oh it's nothing, just mumbling nonsense to myself." I don't think she totally bought it but she lets it go regardless.

Eventually we all finished eating and Alan and Inu were the first to leave. Eventually Qrow and Robin took off too, after a prolonged goodbye hug from Uncle Qrow of course. He always acts like he is just way too cool for anything but I know deep down he's a softie.

Blake went to wait in the truck and Weiss decided to start unpacking stuff back in our room. I guess they wanted to give me and Yang a minute alone. Which I appreciate greatly.

"So I guess this is it...my baby sister is all grown up and moving in with her girlfriend." she says obviously putting on a fake smile.

"Thank you for being so understanding Yang..I couldn't ask for a better big sister." I say hugging her.

"I guess I was even less ready than I thought for this." she says and I hear her start to cry softly. "I remember when you stuck to me like glue…it feels like just yesterday you were the girl asking your big sister to play with you or make you a snack."

"I had to grow up eventually."

"Yeah…I just wasn't ready for it to happen yet."

"Just remember...no matter how grown up I am you will always be my big sister" I say, breaking the hug and wiping a tear from her face. "and I will always be your baby sister."

She plasters a big grin on her face and wipes away her tears with her arm.

"Damn straight and don't you forget it." She winks and gives me a thumbs up. "Well I think I've kept Blake waiting long enough..bye Rubes I love you."

"I love you too." I say and wave goodbye as she walks out closing the door.

By the time I make it back to our room, Weiss is already almost done unpacking everything, she even made our bed already. When she spots me she walks over to me and drapes her arms around my neck.

"How did it go?"

"Pretty good actually." I press my forehead against hers. "Thank you for giving us that moment alone. I think she and I really needed that."

"It's no problem, I understand this must be hard on her, Winter was pretty sad too when I left, I can't imagine it was super easy on you either."

"Eh it was a little hard to say goodbye to that apartment but" I place a soft kiss on her lips. "there's no way I could turn down having you all to myself all the time."

"I may not have shown it much today, since I am not good at showing my affections in-front of a bunch of people but...I am really really happy you're here Ruby I mean it." She kisses me back.

"I know Weiss and I'm really happy to be here." I pull out of the hug and do a quick stretch. "Well I better go unpack my computer really quick and then if you don't mind I'm gonna use the shower."

"I don't mind, I was just gonna take my shower in the morning anyway."

After unpacking and setting up my computer, which didn't take very long at all, I hop in the shower. The hot water feels really nice after a long day but it's making me even more sleepy so I make it a quick shower.

After drying off and throwing on my pajamas I sneak into the room, good thing too because Weiss was already fast asleep on the bed, she must have been even more tired than she let on.

I tip toe to my side of the bed and try my best to not disturb her as I slide in under the covers. Luckily she doesn't move much so I guess mission accomplished. I lean over and place a gentle kiss on her forehead.

This isn't the first time we've shared a bed but it is the first time that the bed was OUR bed. The thought makes me so giddy that I feel like it'll be hard for me to fall asleep. Then, just as I am about to settle in, she moves in closer.

She grabs my arm and holds it close. Her leg loops around mine and before long she is basically pressed against me. It was at that moment I realized it was DEFINITELY not going to be easy to fall asleep….

'Oh well.' I think to myself and let out a soft sigh. This is going to be the first of hopefully many, many more nights together. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually. For now, I'm just so happy to be here, with the girl I love.
