The gems were nervous to take him in, as he doesn't really have a birth certificate.. or insurance.
But they brought him in, garnet was holding him, after a bit of convincing peridot to let go.
And they went inside, pearl parked the car and came in after.
"Uh we need some help" garnet said, calling out to a nurse.
"Oh sh-" the nurse said, jumping up from the desk, leaving her cookie behind. She grabbed a stretcher. After a little hesitation garnet set Steven down.
They were told to wait in the waiting room.
The three were scared that when Steven woke up his powers would act up again..
He was already that unstable when he was barely conscious.
After Steven was taken down the hall I to the trauma unit, garnet walked to the other nurse.
"Oh hi! Are you his guardian?" The nurse asked. Typing on her computer.
"We all are." Pearl said, peridot infront of her.
The nurse gave specifically peridot a look.
The nurse probably thought that she was like 6.
"What's his name and date of birth?"
Pearl and garnet exchanged embarrassed looks.
"Uhm, first name Steven, middle names are Quartz Cutie-Pie DeMayo Diamond. And his last name is universe." Pearl said, awkwardly.
"Hmm he's not showing up, is he a fugitive?" The nurse asked.
"N-no, he just doesn't have a birth certificate."
Pearl nervously laughed.
"Well where was he born?" The nurse followed up.
"It's kinda hard to explain alright? Can you just tell us when we can see him?" Peridot snapped at the nurse.
The nurse was taken aback by the small green alien snapping at her.
"Yeah, but you two need to control your kid better." The nurse said, glaring at peridot and turning back around.
The three walked away laughing.
One of the nurses came out,
"Can I talk to you three please?" She asked, opening a conference room door.
The three followed.
"We got the bleeding to stop, and he's stitched up. He did get aggravated so he is restrained and sedated. But, we did an X-ray to make sure there was no bone breakage from the cut, and there are numerous fractures. Are you guys.. abusing him?" The nurse mumbled.
"What? No? Okay, long story short, we're magical aliens with powers, we came from a different solar system. His mom gave up her form as we are light with mass, to create a new life, Steven. With his father, Greg.
He is half gem half human. That's why he doesn't have a birth certificate." Pearl rambled.
"Well it doesn't explain the fractures, it does explain the pink gem in his belly though."
The nurse said seriously.
"We're not abusing him, like pearl said we have powers, he used to and still does go on missions with us. So yeah he gets hurt. But one of his powers is to heal himself and others, that's why the fractures are perfectly aligned."
Garnet followed up.
"Well, if that's true, why didn't he heal himself?" The nurse asked.
"We think he tried, but it didn't work. One of his other guardians, amethyst. Is in the psych unit for the same reason right now."
Garnet said.
"Oh he's related to her? Well, I haven't met Steven much but amethyst is a delight and is doing well. She's in group therapy right now, but do you want me to tell her that you're all here?" The nurse asked more questions.
"Uh, yeah sure." Pearl said.
The other nurse popped in,
"Hey, he's still sedated and restrained, but he's in a room now and you can go see him if you would like."
The three gems stood up and walked out, peridot turning around, thanking the nurse and following the other one.
They made it to Stevens room, they weren't expecting him to be in the icu..
But there he was, unconscious. His wrists and ankles in foam restraints.
The three of them, hearts shattered. They hated seeing Steven like this.
But they walked in,
Garnet and pearl sat down next to him on the chairs,
And peridot (you guessed it) went to the window.
About an hour or so later, Steven finally started waking up.
He opened his eyes to find..
