A/N: I know left it a bit on a cliffhanger but heating up. I enjoyed this chapter but I am sure some will continue to see where this is going and hopefully, the payoff will be worth it. Please leave a review or favorite I would like to have more feedback if possible. Obviously, I do not own Pokemon enjoy.
The sun was still high in the sky as August, Gary, and Clement worked together in Professor Oak's lab, trying to troubleshoot what went wrong with the attempt to contact Silver. The atmosphere in the room was tense, with the weight of their mission pressing down on them. Clement was hunched over the computer, his brow furrowed as he analyzed data and made adjustments, while August and Gary offered suggestions and support.
Suddenly, Gary's phone rang, piercing the silence of the lab. He glanced at the screen and hesitated for a moment before answering the call. As he listened to the voice on the other end, his face paled, and he gripped the phone tightly.
August, noticing Gary's alarm, couldn't help but ask, "What's going on, Gary? Who was that?"
Gary swallowed hard before answering, "It was a call from Project Mew. They were in the forest near Arborville when they heard an explosion and went to investigate. They said someone has attacked the town."
Clement's eyes widened in concern as he asked, "Should we all go to help?"
August thought for a moment, weighing their options. He knew they couldn't afford to leave their search for Charlie and the fight against Team Rocket. Finally, he made a decision. "No, we don't know if this is a Team Rocket attack or not. Gary and I should go to investigate. You should stay here and continue working on the device to contact Silver."
Gary nodded in agreement, understanding the importance of their separate tasks. "You're right, August. Let's head out."
Wasting no time, the pair hurried outside, where August's Braviary was waiting for them. The majestic bird ruffled its feathers, sensing the urgency of their mission. August and Gary climbed onto Braviary's back, securing themselves before taking off into the sky.
As they soared through the air, the wind whipping past them, Gary suddenly remembered something important. "Hey, August, do you think Bonnie is going to be mad that we dashed off without letting her know?"
August hesitated for a moment before lying, "No, it'll be fine. She won't be mad. She knows we have to do whatever it takes to help people and Pokémon in need."
Gary seemed somewhat reassured by August's response, and the pair continued their flight towards Arborville. As the lush, green landscape of the town came into view, they steeled themselves for the challenges that awaited them.
From their vantage point high above the treetops, they could see the devastation that had befallen the town. Smoke rose from several buildings, and panicked cries from people and Pokémon alike filled the air.
Gary and August exchanged a grim look, prepared to face whatever threats awaited them. As they descended toward the chaos, both men were determined to do everything in their power to protect Arborville and its inhabitants, even if it meant potentially facing the wrath of a worried Bonnie.
Bonnie stormed into Professor Oak's lab, fuming at the discovery that her boyfriend, August, had left without a word. Her eyes blazed with anger as she confronted Clemont, who was still working on the device to contact Silver.
"You let him leave without telling me?!" Bonnie exclaimed, her voice rising with each word.
Clemont, taken aback by her sudden outburst, stammered, "I-I thought August would tell you himself before he left. I didn't know he wouldn't say anything."
Bonnie's anger didn't subside, but before she could continue her tirade, Lance walked into the lab, a slight smirk playing on his lips as he observed the heated exchange. He approached the two, attempting to diffuse the tension.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I have some technical advice that might help you get the device working," Lance offered, hoping to redirect their focus to the task at hand.
Bonnie scowled but held her tongue, deciding to put her anger aside for now. She turned her attention to Lance, trying to listen to his suggestions, but the nagging irritation at August's absence continued to gnaw at her.
Unable to contain her frustration any longer, Bonnie pulled out her phone and dialed August's number. The call went unanswered, and the voicemail prompt kicked in. Bonnie didn't hesitate to leave a rather angry message for her boyfriend.
"August, I can't believe you left without telling me! I don't know what you're thinking or where you are, but you better call me back as soon as you get this message. We need to have a serious talk about communication and trust!"
With that, she hung up and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. She glanced at Lance and Clemont, both of whom were watching her with a mixture of concern and surprise.
"Alright," Bonnie said, her voice still tense but more controlled. "Let's focus on getting this device working. We need to find Silver, and I'll deal with August later."
Clemont nodded, grateful for the shift in focus, while Lance continued to offer his technical advice. Together, they dove back into the task of perfecting the device, the tension in the room still palpable but tempered by their shared determination.
As they worked, Bonnie couldn't help but worry about August and wonder what could have caused him to leave so suddenly. She knew they had a lot to discuss when he returned.
Possessed Charlie and Pierce carefully traversed the dense undergrowth, making their way back to their designated meeting point, away from Arborville, to rejoin Jaxson. As they moved through the thick foliage, the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves cast eerie shadows on their faces. Pierce couldn't help but feel a creeping sense of unease. Despite having participated in numerous devious schemes and morally ambiguous endeavors, he found himself genuinely horrified by the relentless ruthlessness displayed by the King of Pokelantis.
As they walked, Pierce stole furtive glances at possessed Charlie. The sunlight revealed a sinister glint in his eyes that sent a shiver down Pierce's spine. The King, in control of Charlie's body, reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, dark object. It was one of the Iron Masked Marauder's Dark Balls.
"I found them," he said, his voice cold and emotionless. The King held the Dark Ball up, allowing the sunlight to reflect off its sinister, metallic surface.
Pierce raised an eyebrow, genuinely impressed by the feat. "Well done," he said, trying to keep the apprehension out of his voice. "These will be invaluable for our plans."
As they continued their journey through the thick forest, Pierce's thoughts raced, weighing the pros and cons of their current situation. On one hand, the acquisition of the Dark Balls was a significant accomplishment. But on the other hand, he worried about the unpredictable nature of the King of Pokelantis, unsure of how much control they truly had over him.
As the meeting point drew closer, Pierce's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching. He glanced up to see Jaxson emerging from the shadows, a smug grin plastered across his face.
"Ah, there you two are," Jaxson said, his voice dripping with arrogance. "I take it the mission was a success?"
Pierce hesitated for a moment, uncertain of how to respond. The King of Pokelantis, still possessing Charlie's body, spoke up instead.
"Of course," he replied, his voice devoid of warmth. "We have the Dark Balls, as you can see." He held up the dark object, allowing Jaxson to catch a glimpse of it. "And the Iron Masked Marauder has been... eliminated. He won't be a loose end."
Jaxson's grin widened, seemingly pleased with their progress. "Excellent work," he said, not even attempting to hide his satisfaction. "With these Dark Balls, nothing can stop us."
As they prepared to move on to the next phase of their plan, Pierce couldn't shake the nagging doubt that lingered in the back of his mind. He knew that a decision needed to be made soon – a decision that could potentially alter the course of Team Rocket's future. The King's ruthlessness was a double-edged sword, and Pierce found himself wondering if they had unleashed a force they could not control.
Goh stood in the clearing just outside Arborville, the afternoon sun casting a warm glow on the surrounding trees. He was talking to Diana, the granddaughter of the late Towa, who had taken up the mantle of responsibility for looking over the forest near the town. Diana's face was etched with concern, her brow furrowed as she listened intently to Goh.
"I don't understand," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "Why would someone attack Mr. White? He's never done anything to harm anyone." The wind rustled through the leaves above as if echoing her confusion.
Goh shook his head, equally puzzled. "I don't know, but from what I've seen, it doesn't seem like they intended to kill him. He'll be fine once he wakes up, but we need to figure out who did this and why."
Diana nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I can't believe something like this could happen here, in our peaceful town. My grandmother, Towa, dedicated her life to protecting this place and its people. I need to do the same."
Goh placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We'll get to the bottom of this, Diana. I promise."
As they continued to discuss the situation, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed in the distance. Goh and Diana turned to see Gary sprinting towards them, his face flushed with exertion. August was not far behind, trying to keep up with his friend's rapid pace.
"Diana, Goh!" Gary called out, his breath coming in gasps. "What do you know about what happened to Mr. White?"
Goh quickly filled Gary in on the details, mentioning Mr. White's condition and their current lack of information on the attacker. Gary's expression darkened, his brow furrowing in concern.
"We need to investigate further," he said, determination in his voice. "Whoever did this might still be in the area, and we can't let them get away."
August finally caught up, his face flushed from the run. He glanced at Diana, his eyes filled with worry. "Is there anything we can do to help?" he asked, his voice heavy with concern.
Diana nodded, her expression resolute. "We need to search the forest and find any clues we can about who did this. It's our responsibility to protect this place and its people."
Goh, Gary, and August exchanged determined glances, knowing they had a difficult task ahead of them. As the group moved deeper into the forest, Diana shared more information with Gary and August. "We found a member of Team Rocket dead after the attack on Mr. White," she said quietly, her voice somber. "He was the Iron Masked Marauder, a dangerous criminal who was captured thanks to Ash, Misty, and Brock's help years ago."
Gary's eyes widened in surprise, while August's face paled at the news. The weight of the situation settled heavily on their shoulders, the knowledge that a Team Rocket member had been killed only adding to their growing concern.
August's thoughts raced, worry gnawing at the edges of his mind. He was already deeply concerned for Charlie, but the knowledge that other members of Team Rocket were being killed made him even more anxious. Would they deem Charlie's body useless at some point? What would they do to him then?
The forest seemed to grow darker, and more ominous as they ventured further into the trees. The shadows stretched long and twisted, creating an eerie atmosphere that only added to the tension that filled the air.
Diana led the group through the thick foliage, her eyes scanning the area for any clues or signs of the attacker. Goh, Gary, and August followed closely behind, their senses on high alert.
As they walked, August couldn't help but feel a sense of dread settling in his chest. He knew that they were walking into the heart of danger, and the unknown loomed large before them. He glanced at Gary and Goh, seeing the same worry etched on their faces.
"We have to be careful," Diana warned, her voice barely above a whisper. "Whoever is responsible for this might still be nearby. We can't let our guard down."
August nodded in agreement, his heart pounding in his chest. The thought of potentially facing off against someone capable of taking down a notorious Team Rocket member like the Iron Masked Marauder was enough to make his blood run cold. Still, he knew that they had a responsibility to protect their friends and family, and they couldn't back down now.
As they continued their search, the forest seemed to close in around them, the trees growing closer together and the shadows deepening. The air was thick with tension, and every rustle of leaves or snap of a twig had them all on edge.
Diana, Goh, Gary, and August pressed on, their determination to uncover the truth and ensure the safety of their loved ones drove them forward. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on their minds, but they refused to let fear hold them back. They knew they had a mission to accomplish, and they would face whatever dangers lay ahead, together. As the group searched the forest, they found no traces of whoever had attacked Mr. White and killed the Iron Masked Marauder. Disheartened, they decided to head back to Arborville. While they walked, August turned to Diana and asked, "Can you tell us what exactly happened with the Iron Masked Marauder when Ash, Misty, and Brock were here all those years ago?"
Diana nodded and began recounting the story. "The Iron Masked Marauder was a dangerous and ruthless criminal. He used special Pokeballs, known as Dark Balls, to hunt and capture Pokémon, including Celebi, the guardian of this forest. These Dark Balls would corrupt the captured Pokémon, making them more powerful but also completely subservient to the Marauder's will."
Gary, Goh, and August listened intently, their eyes wide with shock as they learned about the Marauder's cruel methods.
Diana continued, "Ash, Misty, and Brock arrived in Arborville during the crisis. They soon learned about the Marauder's plan to use Celebi's power to control time and reshape the world to his own twisted desires. They knew they had to stop him, not just for the sake of Celebi, but for the entire world."
She went on to describe how a young boy named Sammy was brought to the forest from the past by Celebi. Sammy, along with Ash, Misty, Brock, and the Legendary Pokémon Suicune, joined forces to fight against the Marauder and his corrupted Pokémon.
"With the help of their Pokémon, Sammy, and the support of the local townspeople, Ash, Misty, and Brock fought valiantly against the Marauder and his corrupted Pokémon. They managed to free Celebi from the influence of the Dark Ball, allowing it to regain control of its power."
Diana's eyes sparkled as she continued, "As the battle raged on, Celebi was able to gather enough strength to summon other Celebi from different time periods. Together, they combined their powers and managed to undo the damage caused by the Iron Masked Marauder. With his plan foiled and his control over the corrupted Pokémon broken, the Marauder was captured and brought to justice by the townspeople."
She added that once Celebi had been freed, it brought Sammy back to his own time, ensuring that the timeline remained intact.
As they walked back to Arborville, the group felt a mixture of awe and apprehension. They were inspired by the story of Ash, Misty, Brock, and Sammy's heroics, but they also knew that the current situation bore some striking similarities to the past.
The knowledge that the Iron Masked Marauder had been killed by an unknown force, left them with an uneasy feeling. They knew that whatever they were dealing with now was even more dangerous than the Marauder himself.
August couldn't shake the feeling that the story of Sammy was too much of a coincidence. He hesitantly asked Diana, "Did Sammy like to make sketches? I only ask because I found a sketch of a Celebi with a Pikachu that Professor Oak drew when he was younger. It's highly unlikely, but could Sammy be Professor Oak?"
Diana looked at August curiously before answering, "Yes, Sammy did like to sketch Pokémon. But why would you think that he could be Professor Oak?"
August explained, "When I was digging through some old files at Professor Oak's lab, I found a sketch he'd made when he was about 10 years old. It was of a Celebi and a Pikachu, and he said it was from one of his early adventures."
Gary's eyes widened as he started to connect the dots. "Are you suggesting that my grandfather, Professor Oak, could be the same Sammy who helped Ash, Misty, and Brock all those years ago?"
As the group contemplated this possibility, Goh chimed in, still trying to process the information. "But why wouldn't Ash tell us about such an incredible adventure? Do you think he was being that open about all his experiences?"
Diana thought for a moment before responding, "It's hard to say. It could be that Ash didn't realize the significance of the connection between Sammy and Professor Oak, or he might have been keeping it a secret to protect Sammy's identity."
The group continued to discuss the possibility, their minds racing with the implications of this potential revelation. If Sammy was indeed a young Professor Oak, it would mean that he had played a crucial role in helping Ash, Misty, and Brock save the forest and Celebi. It would also mean that their current situation was somehow connected to Professor Oak's past – a connection that could provide them with valuable insights as they worked to unravel the mystery surrounding Charlie and the resurgence of the Iron Masked Marauder.
As they walked through Arborville, they couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of determination. If the past had taught them anything, it was that even the most unlikely of heroes could play a pivotal role in shaping the course of history. They knew that they needed to learn as much as possible about the events that had transpired during Ash, Misty, and Brock's time in Arborville – not only to understand the present but also to prepare themselves for the challenges that lay ahead. Deep in thought about the revelations they had uncovered. As they walked, August noticed that he had a voice message waiting for him on his phone. With a mixture of curiosity and trepidation, he decided to listen to it.
Goh glanced at August with a playful smirk, knowing that the message was from Bonnie. He could tell from August's expression that the message wasn't exactly a pleasant one.
As August continued to listen, he pulled his head away from the phone in surprise. Bonnie's angry rant had become so loud that even Gary and Diana could hear her clearly. Gary winced at the volume, while Diana looked both amused and concerned.
"Is she always this... expressive?" Diana asked Gary, raising an eyebrow.
Gary chuckled awkwardly before responding, "Bonnie's got strong lungs. But from what Ash has told me, she's even stronger than her lungs indicate. She's quite a formidable trainer."
Goh nodded in agreement, then turned to Gary with a thoughtful expression. "You know, it seems like, despite all the interaction we had at Ash and Misty's wedding, not everything Ash has been involved in was known to everyone."
Gary shook his head, a wry smile on his face. "That's just typical of Ash, isn't it? He's never been one to get into the details of his adventures. I suppose it's up to the rest of us to piece things together."
August, meanwhile, was still reeling from the intensity of Bonnie's message. He knew he would have some explaining to do when he got back to Pallet Town, and he couldn't help but feel a little guilty for leaving without saying goodbye.
August took a deep breath and braced himself before calling Bonnie. As soon as she picked up, he could tell she was still steamed at him.
"August!" Bonnie began, her voice full of frustration. "What were you thinking, just leaving like that without telling me? We're supposed to be a team! Communication is important, you know!"
As Bonnie launched into another tirade, the rest of the group glanced at each other, deciding to give August some privacy. They slowly walked away, leaving August and Diana alone. Diana looked at him with sympathy and mouthed, "I am sorry."
Taking a cue from Diana, August interrupted Bonnie's rant. "Bonnie, I'm sorry. I really am. I shouldn't have just left like that without letting you know. It was thoughtless of me."
Bonnie was caught off guard by August's apology, and her anger seemed to dissipate somewhat. "Well," she said, her tone softening, "you'll need to make it up to me when you get back."
August nodded, relieved that Bonnie seemed to be willing to forgive him. "I will, I promise. Now, about the device to contact Silver... Have you had any luck with it?"
Bonnie sighed sadly. "No, despite multiple attempts and even help from Lance, we still couldn't get the device to work. We've tried everything we could think of, but nothing's worked so far."
August's heart sank as he listened to Bonnie's words. He could hear the disappointment and frustration in her voice, and he wished there was something more he could do to help. "I'm sorry to hear that," he said, trying to sound reassuring.
As August continued to think over ways to contact Silver, a thought suddenly struck him. If Silver knew intimate details about Team Rocket, then Jessie, James, and Meowth might know who he was and maybe even how to get a hold of him. He relayed this idea to Bonnie, who brightened up at the suggestion.
"That's a great idea, August!" she said, her voice full of enthusiasm. "We can ask them as soon as we get the chance. And don't forget, I'm looking forward to your in-person apology when you get back." With that, they said their goodbyes, and August ended the call.
As he settled in for the night, August asked Diana about the healing water Ash, Misty, Brock, and Sammy had brought Celebi to all those years ago. Diana described the spring, explaining how it was located deep within the forest and had been known for its rejuvenating properties.
As Diana spoke, August's curiosity grew. He decided that before they returned to Pallet Town, he wanted to investigate the spring and collect a large amount of its water. Perhaps the water could hold the key to solving some of their current problems or prove useful in the future.
The next morning, August shared his plan with Diana, Gary, and Goh, who all agreed to accompany him on his mission. They set off early, following Diana's directions through the lush, verdant forest. The sun filtered through the trees, casting dappled shadows on the forest floor as they walked. The air was fresh and filled with the scent of damp earth and the songs of countless Pokémon.
After some time, they arrived at the spring. The water was crystal clear, shimmering in the sunlight, and surrounded by an array of vibrant plants and flowers. The atmosphere around the spring felt serene and peaceful, and August could sense the gentle power that emanated from the water.
As they approached, they noticed various Pokémon gathered near the spring, drinking from it and playing nearby. The sight filled them with a sense of awe and wonder, and they couldn't help but feel a profound connection to nature and the Pokémon world around them.
August carefully collected the water in several large containers, making sure not to disturb the Pokémon or the spring itself. As he worked, he couldn't help but hope that the water would be able to help them in their quest to save Charlie and protect the world from the looming threat of Team Rocket.
With their task complete, the group said their farewells to Diana and the forest before setting off on their journey back to Pallet Town, their spirits lifted by the beauty of the forest and the promise of the healing water they now carried with them.
Bonnie couldn't wait to share August's idea with Ash and Misty. She found them in the living room, discussing their next steps. "Ash, Misty," she said excitedly, "August had an idea. He thinks that Jessie, James, and Meowth might know who Silver is and how to get a hold of him."
Ash and Misty exchanged skeptical glances, unsure of how much they could trust Team Rocket. Before either of them could voice their concerns, Skye chimed in, her determination shining through. "I'll go ask them," she declared, her eyes filled with resolve.
Ash looked as if he was about to protest, but Misty stepped in, her expression softening as she looked at her daughter. "We'll go with you, Skye," she said, placing a hand on her shoulder. "It's worth a try, and we'll make sure to stay safe."
At that moment, Kieran, Ash and Misty's five-year-old son, overheard the conversation and eagerly tried to invite himself along. "I want to help Charlie too!" he insisted, looking up at his parents with pleading eyes.
Ash knelt down to Kieran's eye level, his expression serious but gentle. "Kieran, I know you want to help Charlie, but the best thing you can do for him is to stay here safely. When Charlie comes home, he'll need to know that you're safe and sound, okay?" Ash's words were firm but filled with understanding, knowing how much Kieran cared about his friend.
Kieran's face showed his frustration, but he also understood his father's concerns. With a small nod, he reluctantly agreed to stay behind. "Okay, Dad," he muttered, trying to hide his disappointment.
Ash patted Kieran's head affectionately before standing up and turning to Misty and Skye. "Let's go find Jessie, James, and Meowth. We'll ask them about Silver and see if they can help us in any way."
As dawn broke over Vermillion City, Ash, Misty, and Skye found themselves outside the nondescript building that Jessie, James, and Meowth used for their radio show headquarters. Ash had given Skye a few words of advice before they arrived, suggesting she should not be too blunt in demanding answers.
"Just keep in mind, Skye, they may not know as much as we hope they do. Let's keep our expectations realistic," Misty added, offering a supportive smile to her daughter. Skye nodded, trying to suppress the surge of hope that was rising within her.
The building itself was nothing special to look at. Its bland facade gave no hint of the energetic broadcasts that took place within. The only distinguishing feature was a large satellite antenna perched on the roof, like a metallic bird of prey watching over the city.
Skye looked around as they approached, her eyes wide with curiosity. She had never been here before and everything felt new and exciting. She tried to play it cool, but her eyes sparkled with anticipation.
As they entered the building, they were greeted by an unusual sight. Meowth, dressed in a mid-level executive suit, was sitting behind a large desk, shuffling papers and taking calls. The feline looked up in surprise as the trio entered, his eyes widening at the sight of them.
"I am going to have to call you back!" he called out in surprise, almost dropping the phone he was holding. He quickly ended the call and stood up, looking flustered. "I didn't know you were coming, Ash. You usually give us a heads-up!"
Meowth's hasty dismissal of his call was met with a series of apologies from Ash, his demeanor casual despite the urgency of their visit. "Sorry, Meowth. This was kind of a last-minute trip," Ash said with a light shrug as if they were merely stopping by for a casual visit.
Meowth, however, seemed less focused on their unexpected presence and more on the absence of a certain electric mouse. "Where's Pikachu?" he asked, his eyes flicking over Ash's shoulder as if expecting the yellow Pokémon to pop out from behind him.
Misty, ever the protective mother, responded before Ash could. Her voice was steady, but there was an underlying hint of steel. "In case you didn't notice last week, there was an attack at the Indigo League. We trust Pikachu to keep our youngest, Kieran, safe."
A drop of sweat trickled down Meowth's temple, his eyes wide at the subtle warning in Misty's words. "Just checking, Misty," he mumbled, quickly shifting his attention to Skye. "And we did notice. Seems like you've inherited your father's lucky streak of avoiding serious injury."
Skye, unimpressed by the attempt at flattery, nodded tersely. "That's why we're here—"
Before she could finish her sentence, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the hallway, drawing their attention. Emerging from the office were Jessie and James, looking as flamboyant as ever, but with an air of professionalism that was unusual for them. They were ushering out a group of corporate-looking individuals who were still trying to pitch something about their Pokéblocks being a primary sponsor of their show.
Upon noticing the unexpected guests, Jessie and James redoubled their efforts, quickly hustling their visitors out the door. The last thing they needed was for their business meeting to cross paths with whatever Ash and his family were here for.
Jesse looked at Meowth and asked, "Can you please lock up the doors so that we can make sure no one disturbs us?"
Misty thanked Jesse with a nod meeting her eyes. James being the gentlemen he was raised to be by his parents gestured towards the office he and Jesse emerged from. James decided to ask once Meowth had joined them, "What brings the Waterflower? Or Ketchum family?"
Ash then looked over at Skye who seemed to indicate for him to ask them, "Do you know anything about a red-haired, red eyed man named Silver?"
