On the bridge of the ship, the captain smiled in anticipation. His target sat in front of them, completely unprepared for the coming onslaught.
"Prepare to fire, my lord?"
"Prepare to fire on my command. In 3, 2-"
A whistle could be heard from above, and the bow of the ship suddenly rocked back and forth from a sudden crash landing. Staring down from below, the crew were stunned to see a green-faced young woman in a two-toned samurai outfit, a look of malice in her eyes.
"Well well well, if it isn't the all-powerful Fire Nation. You know I could just dump you all into the harbor right now, but that would be too kind. You're going to pay for your sins, fools!"
Turning to an artillery gun, Mask Katara giggled. Like a video game character, she sprung high up into the night sky and landed a direct hit, flattening it into pieces beneath her feet.
"Ooh, do I see a passageway down to below decks? Only one way to find out!"
Down in the boiler rooms, the crew members were continuing to work another long hot shift - until the room suddenly began to cool. Beginning to shiver from the lack of heat, they stared up to find a green-headed woman floating above them, icicles dangling from the ceiling below.
"Don't you just love it when icicles fall?"
In an instant, boilers and men were crushed beneath the incredible mass of the ice. Satisfied the ship could no longer move, Mask Katara turned her attention back towards the bridge.
"All officers to the bridge immediately! Emergency on board!" Seeing his ship's systems disabled, the captain hurried to find a plan to stop the green intruder, and it needed to be done fast.
Of course, his luck was about to run out.
There she was, directly in front of the ship's controls, staring with bright red pupils at the five officers in her path. Holding an ax in one hand, she cackled.
"Let's see, how's that old poem go? Oh yes! Miss Katara took an ax" - one officer's head completely gone - "and gave the Fire Nation 40 whacks!" - another officer sliced in half. Throwing the ax away, she pulled a bucket from behind her back.
"How about some acid, scarecrows?"
Dumping the bucket over the other two officers, she howled as their flesh sizzled. "You're melting! MELTING!!!"
With only the captain left, Mask Katara grabbed him by the shoulders. "Have you ever heard of a brain freeze? It's the only way for you to go!" Sending shockwaves of ice into his body, she watched as he moaned in extreme agony before his head blew into frozen chunks.
"Good thing I don't have to clean up that mess."
Leaving the ship and diving into the waters below, Mask Katara emerged a few moments later holding a giant drain stopper. "Found it!" The waters of the sea suddenly began to swirl into a whirlpool, the ship being carried down the drain.
From up in the air, Mask Katara began to sing again.
"DOWN YOU GOOOO! DOWN YOU GO! INTO THE DEPTHS YOU'LL FLOW!!!"
Once fully empty, rains began to fall from above, filling the harbor to its natural level. Mask Katara landed back in front of Aang and Sokka, who stared back with a look of awe.
"I can't believe you just did that." Sokka stammered.
"I know. I'm just awesome like that."
Having seen her destructive tendencies up close, Aang decided to try and take control. "Katara, it's well after midnight. I think it's best that you take off the mask and we head home. We can talk about what to do next tomorrow."
"I'm sorry Aang, I'm afraid we can't do that. There's so much evil in the world to battle. I must punish them. I MUST!!!"
Trying to convince her boyfriend, Mask Katara decided to flaunt her body in front of Aang. "Besides, don't you want to spend more time with the most beautiful girl in the universe?"
"Actually…I don't."
This brought complete shock to Mask Katara's ears. "WHAT?!?!? You don't want to spend time with me?????"
"Not like this. Look Katara, you might have the most amazing body with the mask on…but you're not the Katara I love. You're manipulative, destructive, boorish, rude…I don't want to be with someone like that all the time."
Mask Katara could only babble in protest. "The old me never had the powers I do now!!! You really want to give that up for her?!?"
"I do. I miss the Katara I first met. I miss that kind, gentle, compassionate soul I've always known. Deep down, I think you do too."
Deep down, Mask Katara knew Aang was right. Despite her instincts telling her otherwise, her hands reached for the back of her head and began to tug. A minute of turmoil later, Katara stood back in front of Aang, solid wooden mask in her hands.
"I'm sorry, Aang - and Sokka too. Please forgive me for what I'm done."
"It's OK, Katara. Thank you again for saving the city. Let's go home now."
And so, the three friends began the long walk back to the cabin, ready to rest for another new day.
