The journey between Wolf Cove and Gaoling was an arduous one, but it was one Aang always enjoyed making.
Sure, the small farms and quaint villages were part of the charm - their inhabitants always willing to provide a warm meal and a place to rest weary legs. And the flora and fauna seen along the way made Aang imagine how peaceful life could truly be, without the chaos he had to learn to fight.
And speaking of learning - the best part of the journey was the destination. The home of his greatest mentor, Toph Beifong. Despite only being 14 and completely blind, she was the strongest, toughest girl Aang had ever known - a complete dynamo with no fear and a heart of gold, who knew more about earthbending than even he knew about airbending.
Every so often, he would make his way to her training compound for a sparring session - this trip, however, was not one of those occasions.
Tucked inside Aang's backpack was a wooden mask. It looked ordinary to the eyes, but the last few days had revealed the great power it held within. Aang himself had worn and had managed to stay relatively sane, if a little kooky. Katara, on the other hand…
After Katara's wild night, the gang decided that the mask was far too powerful to stay with them, that it needed to be stored someplace safe. After a long discussion, it was decided that Toph was the best option to give it to. For one, the Beifong compound had plenty of fancy rooms where it could be locked away. The other reason, as Sokka put it…
"What could a blind girl possibly want with a mask?"
And so, they had finally arrived at Toph's door, giving it several loud knocks. They could hear grumbling on the other side. "I'm coming, I'm coming!"
A minute later, the door opened and Toph greeted them with a scowl. "Who's there? And why are you bothering me while I'm training?"
"Hi Toph, it's me, Aang. Katara and Sokka are here too. We've got something important we need you to do for us. Can you help?"
"All right, I'll listen. What is it?"
"We found this strange wooden mask a few days ago, and we think it's a danger. Can you lock it up somewhere safe?"
This…did not please Toph. "You interrupted my training session over a MASK?!?!? Aang, if this was anyone else, I'd have blasted you into the desert. But since I respect you, give me your stupid mask and I'll find a place to put it."
Taking it out of his backpack, Aang put the mask in her hand.
"Are you sure you won't do anything with it?", Katara asked.
"Katara, what use would I have for a mask? Let me get back to training. I'll see you later."
Slamming the door behind her, Toph huffed off in frustration. Making her way back to her chambers, she tossed the mask over into a corner of the room.
Trying to refocus after being rudely interrupted, Toph closed her eyes and breathed in deeply. As she moved her arms in a graceful motion, she felt the rocks below her move like ripples of water, waves of dirt flowing as one.
Lifting her left arm high in the air, she raised a pillar of granite 20 feet in the air, before dropping it down and letting it crumble into stones. She did the same with her right arm, then her left, then her right again.
Finally, Toph prepared for her signature move. Stretching her fingers out wide, she backed up slightly and pushed her arms as far out as they could, sending a tsunami of rock crashing into the walls of the temple in front of her.
However, as the ground below Toph's feet moved along, so did the mask. And as the rush of rock crashed into the wall, the mask flew high into the air, before falling back towards its new target.
As wood made contact with skin, Toph's body was suddenly infused with thousands of volts of energy, wooden tendrils merging with her face. Moaning in shock from the unexpected terror, her muscles bulged and throbbed as green smoke engulfed her figure. Finally, she was sent into a roaring twister, dashing across the ceiling and walls before coming to a screeching halt in the middle of the floor.
The new Toph giggled in excitement at the figure she had now become. Every muscle in her body was of a perfect physique. Her legs and calves were as thick and sturdy as tree trunks, her waist made of perfect curves and her stomach showing off eight fantastic abdominals.
She was wearing a green and gold-trimmed kimono, with a black belt just below the waist and white pearl bracelets decorating her elbows. She stared - for the first time ever - at her bulging biceps, feeling she could crush any opponent with one punch.
Pulling a mirror from nowhere, she admired her brand new head - large, bright green and rubbery, with cheekbones as thick as her fingers and long black hair flowing down her back. Dark green lips and dazzling white teeth made a perfect smile, and her new emerald green eyes stared back at the goddess she now was.
"What. A. RUSH!!!"
