I really needed to have this conversation between April and Lexie. In this story (and the rest of the stories), I will bring my canons about the characters's feelings and reasons for their actions.
I really wanted to make Mark and Lexie's recovery easy and fast. I wanted to give them the opportunity to be happy with no pain.
"Torres, why is Lexie still in a wheelchair?" Owen asked.
"She broke her leg only a month ago," Callie responded.
"And it healed very well. She can walk with crutches.״
"Absolutely not. She needs the wheelchair," Callie insisted.
"She climbed into Mark's bed with no problem. She can almost walk by herself. Callie, she's fine. She doesn't need it."
"She fell only a few days ago!"
"Callie, I know you are scared. Lexie is your friend, your best friend's girlfriend, and Sofia's stepmother, but she's fine."
"Lexie isn't my friend. I care about her because she is my colleague, and my best friend's girlfriend. That's all."
"When you care about someone like that, and you don't know why, it's called family. Even if you don't want to like her, you don't have any choice, because Mark is your family, and Mark loves her."
"This is absolutely not true. I am the best orthopedician in this hospital. I know what I am doing, and Lexie isn't ready for the crutches."
"You have to stop. Otherwise, I will bring in another doctor."
"No! I'm not trusting anyone!"
"Lexie's case is not surgical, so there is no reason for you to be her doctor."
"Bring her here. I will tell her she doesn't need the wheelchair anymore," Callie told him with submission.
A few minutes later
"Great news, Lexie! You can now say goodbye to your wheelchair."
"You told me it would take months before I could get rid of the wheelchair," Lexie said happily.
"Well, I was wrong. Really wrong," Callie said, smiling at Lexie.
Meredith's house
Meredith was watching TV when she heard voices and realized her sister and husband had returned home.
"They didn't let you stay with Mark, did they?" Meredith assumed.
"No, they didn't," Lexie said angrily. "I had waited a whole month for him to wake up. And when he finally did, they wouldn't let me see him."
"You two were together all day," Meredith told her, laughing.
"So, there is no chair?" Meredith asked her.
"Nope," Lexie responded.
"That's amazing, Lex!"
Lexie rolled her eyes and said, "I'm going to take a shower."
Meredith waited until Lexie had gone into the bathroom before she laughed.
"I really try to stay serious, but I can't help laughing when she gets so dramatic like that," Meredith told Derek.
Suddenly, they heard a knock on the door. Meredith opened it and was surprised to find April standing there.
"Hey Meredith, is Lexie here?" she asked.
"Yes. She is in the shower."
To Meredith's surprise, April rushed up to the bathroom.
"I'm going to kill you!" , April told Lexie angrily.
"I am in the shower, April," Lexie told her, knowing exactly why she was here.
April said, "I don't care," and then opened the shower curtain.
"Seriously, April?"
"This is exactly what I wanted to ask you."
"At least let me get dressed first."
"You have thirty seconds," April said and gave Lexie a towel.
Lexie got dressed, graded her crutches quickly, and started run away from April into the living room.
Derek and Meredith were very surprised to see the girls fighting like that. Well, it's not the first time that they are fighting, but usually it is Lexie who is angry with April.
"What did Lexie do?" Meredith asked them.
"She and Mark trapped me and Jackson in an on call room," April told Meredith.
Derek couldn't hold his laughter.
"And according to your face and your freaking out, it worked ," Lexie said proudly, trying to run away from April with her crutches.
"Girls, stop it now!" Meredith yelled, and Zola began crying.
After hearing Zola's crying they both stopped.
Derek said, "I'll get her," and walked upstairs.
Looking at April, Meredith said, "April, you are not killing my sister," and then glanced over at Lexie and said, "And Lexie, you can't just lock two people in a room so they can have sex."
"I didn't lock it! I just asked April to meet me there, and Mark also told Jackson to go there," Lexie said, "It's not my fault you two can't be alone in a room with beds without-," she didn't even finish the sentence before April was running after her.
"That's enough! We are adults, so we are going to solve this problem like adults."
April and Lexie stopped running around and looked at Meredith.
"April, sooner or later, you and Jackson would have slept together again. It's easier to be angry with Lexie and Mark than deal with the truth."
Meredith glared at Lexie and said, "Lexie, April and Jackson's relationship is none of your business, and you should stay out of it."
A few hours later
Derek woke up after he heard noises. When he left the bedroom, he realized the noises were Lexie talking with someone over the phone.
"Lexie, what are you doing?"
"Nothing!" She stated nervously and tried to hide her phone.
"Lexie, are you talking to Mark?"
"No!"
"Lexie! He needs to rest!"
"He called because he couldn't sleep," Lexie justified.
Then, they heard a voice from the phone say, "You are not our boss, Shepherd, we are adults."
"I will call Bailey," Derek threatened.
"I love you, Lex, see you tomorrow," Mark quickly told her.
"Don't worry, I will call you after he falls asleep," she told him after Derek left the room.
Mark's room (surgical department)
After Lexie fell asleep, Bailey decided to check on Mark.
"I hate the surgical department," Mark said to Bailey.
"Excuse me?"
"Now I have to watch all my friends working while I just sit here doing nothing."
"Poor baby, you got out of the ICU." Bailey told him. "A month ago, you thought Lexie was dead and that you were going to die, and now she's alive, and you're going to be fine. You have nothing to complain about," Bailey told him.
"You are right, but I am still bored. My friends have all finished their shifts, and visiting hours are over."
"Do you want me to get the interns for you?" Bailey asked him sarcastically.
"Very funny, Bailey," he said as Bailey left the room.
A few minutes later, Owen was the next to check on Mark.
Seeing the worry on Mark's face, Owen asked him, "Sloan, is everything okay?"
"How had Lexie survived? A wing of a plane fall on her, and she's fine? No surgery and nothing?"
"Are you complaining?" Owen asked him sarcastically.
"No! I am just saying you should try and check it! It is impossible!"
"Mark, the wing didn't fell on her. It fell on a few big rocks that were there. The rescue team was shocked to see that. They told me that the wing protected her from smaller parts falling on her. She had a lot of luck."
"You should definitely check it out."
"We did everything- MRI, X- ray, CT, and even an ultrasound. In Bosie, they said it wasn't necessary, but I ordered those tests anyway, just in case. They all came good."
"I want to see them," demanded Mark.
"I checked them. All of them. Everyone demanded to see them: Callie, April, Bailey, Jackson, Meredith, Derek, and Alex. She's fine. You can see them, but Mark, she is Ok, and this is real."
"She couldn't feel her legs, and blood came out of her mouth. She had hemothorax!"
"She didn't. All of her symptoms were caused by the stress. We consulted with a lot of doctors. They all said she was fine the blood thing was nothing. She barely lost any blood."
In the morning , Mark's Room
"Look who I have got for you!" Lexie said with excitement as she got into Mark's room.
"Sofia!"
"She missed her daddy so much."
"Daddy missed her too," said Mark as he took Sofia from Lexie's arm.
"How was your night?" Lexie asked him.
"Lonely. And yours?"
"I forgot to tell you on the phone. I came to Meredith's house angry, went to get a shower, and then April came in."
"Wait, Are you trying to tell me something?" Mark said with a laugh.
"This isn't funny. She was trying to kill me. I had to get dressed really quick, take my crutches, and run away from her. Our plan worked."
"Did you run with the crutches?" Mark asked worriedly.
"I had to fight for my life!"
"You could have fallen!"
"But I didn't!"
"But you could have!"
"Mark, stop, I promise you I won't run anymore." Then, she glanced at Sofia and said, "Sofia, I don't think you are going to have fun with your dad protecting you all the time."
"Shut up!"
"Did Jackson tell you something?"
"He was here. He didn't say anything. I think he is ashamed of his indiscipline," he said and they both laughed.
Seeing the time, Lexie said, "I gotta go. I'll see you later," she said and kissed Mark's lips.
"Don't go. You two are all I have left. The interns are annoying me. Leah Murphy is impossible, and the only reason I remember her name is because of Murphy's law."
"Stop! You are being mean!"
"Well, I'm really, really bored."
"I get this. I need to see a brain or something!"
"So you shouldn't go to Derek," Mark said, laughing.
"That's a good one!"
Meredith's house
"Meredith, I have to do this. She is my sister. You did the same thing for Lexie. She also took care of your sister and Zola, and she really needs us."
"It was hard enough to have her for a month!"
"Meredith, give her a chance. I know you are going to like her."
"I have no choice, do I?״
"Sorry," Derek told her and hugged her.
"When is she coming?"
"In two days. Maybe even earlier. Look, she's the best sister of all of them. I promise you, you are going to like her," Derek said and kissed Meredith.
In Mark's Room
"So, how are you feeling?" Derek asked Mark.
"I saw my kid and my very alive girlfriend. So I am great."
"You know that this wasn't what I meant."
"And I know that this is the only thing I need."
"You and Lexie are impossible. You couldn't let me sleep for one night?"
"I just wanted to make sure she was ok, and then she told me about the crutches, and we just continued taking ," Mark said with a smile.
"Well, at least you had a good talk last night."
Mark nodded and said, "Lexie is in her fifth year of her residency. She has to get into a surgery. I know it's a big problem because you can't operate now, but she has to learn."
"Lexie has a talent, photographic memory, and she worked twice hard as her class, she has nothing to worry about. Actually, the rest will be good for her. She needs to slow down."
"I know, but I think that being in surgery will be good for her. Every if she will only watch from the gallery."
"I'll see what I can do," Derek told him.
"You better. Her hands are still working amazingly as they did before."
"I don't want to hear this."
"I was talking about surgery, you pervert."
"Did you talk about a wedding yet?"
"No. I don't want to scare her. I just woke up a few days ago, and you told me about the nightmares she had. I just want to make her feel comfortable with me."
"Sometimes , I am still scared when you are talking like this."
"Shut up, maybe I wasn't like this before, but it was before Lexie. Lexie made me the happiest I have ever been. Well, alongside Sofia, I feel like the luckiest man in the world."
"I'm terrified now."
In the hospital
"April?" Lexie called.
"Yes?" April moved her eyes from the charts to look at Lexie.
"I want to apologize for what I did yesterday. I can see that you and Jackson like each other a lot. Mark and I wasted a lot of time together. Life is too short to think about meaningless things. You know what? Let's just say I'm sorry."
"Thank you, Lexie. I forgive you," April said with a smile, "I am sorry for ruining after you. You could have fallen."
"I'm also sorry about the way I treated you. Sometimes, when I'm angry with someone, I don't think. I feel harder than other people are feeling, and sometimes it's really hard to control them. So when I teased you and treated you badly, it was because I was angry with you and I couldn't control my feelings. I know it's not an excuse, but I really hope you can forgive me," Lexie told her with guilt.
"I really like you. Most of my life, the people that were mean to me, and called me weird, were bullies or just people that liked to tease , like Cristina. You are not like that. You are empathetic, supportive, and sensitive . So when you were mean to me, I really didn't understand why."
"I'm so sorry, April," Lexie told her, and then hugged her.
Two days later
Mark's Room (For The Last Time!)
"Did you take everything?" Lexie asked him.
"Yes. I can't believe I'm out of here," exited Mark told her.
"You were here for only three days," Lexie told him with a smile.
"It felt so much more."
Owen came into Mark's room, and said, "So, you are finally able go home. There are a few things that I need you to know. Even the smallest pain ch-"
He was cut off by Mark, who said, "Save it, Hunt. I am a doctor. I know all of this."
"Mark, let him finish," Lexie told him with a serious voice.
"As I said, even the smallest pain in the chest can be a symptom of complications from the surgery. You have to take it easy in the next few days, rest a lot, and not be Mark Sloan."
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"Well, it will be hard to manage with you being stubborn that thinks he can do anything by himself. You can't now. Listen to Derek, Callie, and Lexie. I don't want to see you here for the next few weeks."
"When could he be back to work?" Lexie asked Owen.
"It will be 7 weeks before he will be able to make a full recovery. But he can be back to work in 6 weeks, and no sexual activity for 5 weeks," Owen looked at Lexie and Mark to make sure they both understood.
"Thank you, Dr. Hunt," Lexie said as Owen left the room.
"Are you two ready?" Callie asked him as she entered the room.
After seeing Mark get's up, Lexie told him, "You are not going anywhere without the wheelchair."
"Lex, come on, I'm ready to go. Torres, help me out here."
"Lexie is right. Two against one, you have no chance, Mark."
"My life is over," Mark whispered to himself.
"Did you say something?" Lexie asked.
"No," Mark told her as he sat on the wheelchair.
"Hold on, Mark, it's only until we get to the car," Callie told him.
Mark's apartment
"Finally home," Mark said happily. Then, he went to the bathroom.
"What are you doing?" Lexie asked him.
"I am going to take a shower, with your permission.״
"Very funny, and no body, you are going to bed right now," Lexie ordered.
"Oh, I see where it's going," Mark said with a dirty grin.
"Do I have to remind you what Owen said?"
"No. I don't want to hear it,״ Mark said with disappointment.
"So you promise to behave?"
"Yes, mom," Mark said.
Mark went into his bedroom and laid down on his bed. Lexie came after him.
"As much as I would love to stay with you, I have to go back to the hospital. Derek told me he had something to tell me."
"Just stay with me for a few minutes," Mark begged.
It didn't take a lot to convince her. She went into the bed and laid next to Mark.
Mark hugged Lexie tightly and stroked her hair. It's been a long time since they laid like that in this apartment.
They laid like this for a few minutes until Lexie pulled off and said, "I have to go now."
"No! I am a really sick man. I need special care. I can't be here by myself," Mark said, and kissed Lexie.
"Mark, stop it! You want to be back at the hospital?"
"Well, when I think of this, the hospital wasn't so bad," he said and kissed her.
"Mark, stop it!"
"Why?" Mark asked, and kept kissing her.
"Because that way, I won't leave to the hospital."
"That's the plan," Mark told her.
"Oh no, I know all your tricks, big Sloan and they're not working on me. Not anymore."
"They are working now," Mark said.
"I'm out of here!" She stated as she got off the bed.
"You are really leaving me here all by myself?"
"I will bring Sofia to babysit you," Lexie said sarcastically.
"Not funny, Little Grey."
"You want me to bring you to Callie and Arizona? Callie told me that Arizona is very cranky today."
"I will be good. I promise," Mark said, afraid of Arizona.
In The Hospital
"Amelia, what are you doing here?" Lexie asked.
"I moved in, I love Seattle and the hospital."
Seeing the sadness in Amelia's eyes, Lexie asked her, "Are you ok?"
"My boyfriend didn't take it well, we broke up."
"I'm so sorry, Amelia."
"That's fine. He is a dick. How is Mark?"
"He is fine. He left the hospital ," Lexie told her. "Where are you going to live?"
"In Meredith's house for a while. I don't think Meredith likes me so much, but it's that or living with Mark, and that will be weird because..." , Amelia shut her mouth after she remembered that she couldn't tell Lexie that.
"Because you slept with him?"
"Mark told you?", Amelia asked her with a big surprise.
"No, I saw you two making out."
"Oh god. I'm so sorry, Lexie. How is it that you are not mad at me?"
"Well, I am still a little angry, but it was a long time ago. Maybe if we get to know each other more, I won't be angry anymore."
Amelia smiled at her and said, "When are you getting back to work?"
"Tomorrow," Derek said as he saw the girls talking.
"Really?" Lexie said it surprisingly.
"Your legs are hurting, not your hands."
"Thank you, Derek," She told him, hugging him.
