RangerSteel: I think you rushed him on getting a regiment there bud. I mean he's only been on remnant for less then a week and Ironwood is just like "Hey here's a regiment of troops to command stranger from another world."

That is fair, but from what Ironwood knows, he is giving a small regiment to a man who has been fighting horrors worse than grimm. He may be rushing it, but he is hoping that Andrei can take care of the grimm threat once and for all.

Rollynolly: I find it very strange that Ironwood Only met this imperial guard like a day which they don't know anything about him and now All Suddenly He's Giving him a regiment at time Ironwood would be cautious with a stranger he doesn't know anything about even Came from a different world the obvious thing he would do is had This imperial guard hang out with Either Atlas Soldiers

Or ace operatives To keep an on him As well build up some trust between the two.

Basically the same thing as above. I do see your point, but at this point in the timeline, Ironwood has no point in not using this asset.

As a side note in this headcanon of RWBY regiments are generally 6,000 human troops with maybe 3x that in automated assets. This is what made the fall of beacon, the fall of Vale. Andrei is severely undermanned compared to everyone else. If he went rogue, it would take a little over a week for a complete wipe.

Enjoy the Festivities

Andrei looked over the force he was given command over. He was given 5,000 new recruits. He had no officers, no vehicles, and no heavy weapons. So Andrei did the only thing he knew how to do. He taught them how to be Cold Bloods. Weeks passed and the troops could now survive on their own in a blizzard. Two months in and they could effectively fight grimm and humanoid targets. Three more months went by, and he had a rudimentary command structure and the regiment was divided into squads. Each squad had 9 soldiers and 1 lieutenant. The lieutenants had a saber and a pistol. The soldiers all wielded basic laser rifles with the ability to attach a bayonet to the end. He also had them ditch most of their old armor for armor that would distinguish them as part of the Cold Bloods. They all wore greatcoats, had a chestplate and pauldrons under the coat. They all wore gloves and had their insignia sewed onto their coats' left sleeve.

Now came the hard part. Andrei had no idea how to lead. He was a private until Ironwood promoted him. The training had been as easy as passing off the knowledge he already had. So it was with trepidation that Andrei found himself before Winter.

"How do you lead an army?"

Winter looked at him like he suddenly grew a second head. "You're asking this now?"

"I just finished training them. They are ready to fight the enemies of mankind head on. I just have no idea on how to lead them. We don't have any vehicles, heavy weapons, or official officers yet."

Winter's eyes widened at his report. "You didn't request vehicles?"

"I can request vehicles?"

Winter facepalmed and then gestured to a stack of papers which would allow him to request vehicles and another for any sort of special or heavy weapons. Andrei thanked her and then took some of the papers. He started filling out forms for an Atlesian airship and several Mantas. He then looked to see if they had any sort of artillery only to be met with the disappointing realization that no, they had no artillery. Andrei grumbled and requested 10,000 grenades, 250 mortars and the accompanying ammunition that would go with it. Andrei submitted the forms into a box that said the forms should go there and went back to his troops.

It took two weeks for Andrei to get his supplies, and another month to get the troops up to snuff with the weapons. Time had passed and apparently General Ironwood was going to be going to something called the Vytal festival in Vale. Ironwood was bringing his own personal regiments and Andrei was to accompany them. It seemed like a dumb first mission but Andrei wouldn't argue with the General. That would be a quick way to get shot.

Andrei watched as his troops started to march into the Atlas Airship now called Valhalla. His troops had adopted the behaviors of the Valhallas, becoming cold to people outside of the regiment, and being willing to sacrifice their lives for the betterment of humanity.

Andrei hadn't gotten any ground vehicles because they were all either under armor, under gunned, or automated. Andrei wasn't sure if it was AI, but didn't trust it, just in case. Many of the other Colonels and Generals thought he was crazy to go fighting without androids but Andrei held firm to his decision.

At last in the air, they met up with the rest of the airships going to Vale. Each airship carried some of Atlas Academies students which Andrei wasn't exactly happy about. The students were immature, young, inexperienced, and relied too much on their soul shields and fancy jumping to keep them alive. Despite Andreis' thoughts, the students were on their best behavior on Andreis' ship.

"Sir, we are receiving a vox transmission from the Generals ship."

That was Andrei's Lieutenant Colonel, Johanna Becker. She had become a natural leader and rose through the unofficial ranks of the Cold Bloods through her tenacity and tactical mind.

"Let us greet the General then."

The two of them walked through the halls of the Valhalla to the comms center. Johanna walked a half step behind Andrei as a sign of respect that Andrei still didn't get. As they passed soldiers would salute them. Andrei had been right in thinking that they would hate him. Early on many of the soldiers wanted to quit. But as time went on, they realized that the training had made them an elite force in the Atlas army. As a result, many of the troops had idolized Andrei, and the rest deeply respected him.

When they entered the comms center, all the troops stood and saluted Andrei before sitting and going back to work. Andrei approached the holo display and saluted the General.

"You called sir?"

"Yes, I am giving you the details of your mission. You will accompany me with your lieutenant colonel to the Headmasters office to talk with him. Your troops are not to be deployed. Your men may rotate out to visit Vale but only 500 at a time."

"Of course General."

The communication shut off and Andrei walked to the window. His comms center was also his bridge so he had a great view of where they were going. He looked out over Vale and frowned. It was a huge city. He had no idea how they would cover it all. With how few troops he had. He wasn't even allowed to deploy which angered him to a degree.

"Trouble sir?"

"Nothing yet. Carry on."

"Yes sir."

Ironwood seemed to be sighing a lot recently. Winter didn't understand why Andrei had been made a Colonel. Ozpin was pissed that a complete unknown had been promoted from nothing to a high position, no matter what handicaps he had. But even so, the General had never seen anyone with such drive to protect humanity, ready to lay down his life to injure the enemy. It was awe inspiring.

He found out a little after Andrei had woken up that the doctors had unlocked Andreis aura. They had been studying if he had a semblance and learned it when he had gotten his troops. In short, anyone that considered him their leader, would be slightly empowered. It grew weaker the more people he had under his command. It did have a few side effects, the people would be slightly distrustful of other people not from his unit, and they would find sacrificing themselves for humanity more acceptable.

In the wrong hands, that semblance would be terrifying. It only made the General stand by his decision more than less.

"Come now, the elevator is over here."

The three people following him nodded. The unofficial lieutenant colonel went ahead a little bit and pushed the elevator button. The doors opened and Ironwood stepped inside. Winter eyed Andrei as he stepped aside for her to step in. Andrei then walked in followed by his subordinate. The ride up was silent until they reached the top. A beep emitted from the door as it opened.

"Come in," Ozpin said from the other side of the door.

"Ozpin!" Ironwood says like he is greeting an old friend

"Hello General"

"Please, drop the formalities. It's been too long. And Glynda! It has certainly been too long since we last met." The General seemed genuinely happy to see them. The three behind him seemed uncomfortable to be there.

Glynda raised her eyebrow and walked away without a word

"Well she hasn't changed a bit. Ah! Have I introduced you to my subordinates here? This is Winter Schnee, the leader of my Ace Ops. This is Andrei Kuznetsov, he leads the newly formed 1212th Cold Bloods. And the one behind him is his subordinate."

"Lieutenant Colonel Johanna Becker of the 1212th Cold Bloods," she said flatly, saluting.

"A pleasure," Ozpin said "So, what in the world has brought you all the way down from Atlas? Headmasters don't typically travel with their students for the Vytal Festival."

Ozpin made some coffee and offered some to all of the occupants. Only Ironwood accepted. Winter liked tea, and both of the Cold Bloods preferred Vodka

"Well, you know how much I love Vale this time of year. Besides, with you hosting, I thought that this might be a good opportunity for us to catch up."

"I can certainly appreciate the quality time between friends, however, a small fleet outside my window has me concerned."

"Well, concern is what brought them here."

"I understand that travel between kingdoms has become increasingly difficult."

Andrei almost snorted. They hadn't run into a single daemon on the way to Vale.

"Oz, you and I both know why I brought those men."

"We are in a time of peace. Shows of power like this are just going to give off the wrong impression."

"But if what Qrow said is true..."

"If what Qrow said is true, then we will handle it tactfully. It's the Vytal Festival. A time to celebrate unity and peace. So I suggest that you not scare people by transporting Thousands of soldiers halfway across the continent."

"I'm just being cautious."

"As am I. Which is why we will continue to train the best Huntsmen and Huntresses we can."

"Believe me, I am. But ask yourself this: Do you honestly believe your children can win a war?"

"I hope they never have to."

"Sending children to fight a war. They are almost as bad as the Death Korps of Kreig."

"The Death Korps sir?"

"An army of child soldiers who believe dying is the only way for forgiveness."

"How should we wage a war sir?"

"We shall bide our time. Let the daemons break themselves across our walls. Once we are ready, we will strike with the force of a blizzard."

Andrei stood and looked out over the city, he had soldiers on an ever constant vigil, looking for the slightest hint of enemy movement. Suddenly there were people running about the bridge shouting orders a manta was scrambled for deployment. An experimental Atliasian mech was sighted carrying the white fang ensignia. Andrei grabbed his chain sword, las-pistol and started to walk down to the hanger.

"Have another manta on overwatch. I don't want surprises."

"Yes sir!" was the resounding call from across the bridge.

Andrei made it to the hanger and waved off several people trying to tell him how going out to fight was beneath him. They weren't part of the Cold Bloods. Andrei bordered the manta, joining the other two squads in the bay with Johanna. The manta took off, and another took off behind them. Their mantas had been kitted out with a chain gun and two missiles each. They also had door guns on the side, but they weren't used too often.

As the manta swung low over the combat area, it unleashed both missiles and opened up with the chain gun. The mech staggered backward at the blasts and fell over as the chaingun hit the cockpit.

The manta slowed and landed, the back ramp fell and Andrei charged out with his men following close behind.

"Grenades!"

22 grenades were tossed onto the mech and exploded, tearing the front armor plating to ribbons, exposing the man in the mech. He was well dressed, with a white blazer, a cane, and a bowler hat. His blazer, face, and hair were covered with soot as he stumbled out of the ruined cockpit.

"Fire at will!"

20 laser rifles snapped up and started firing. The man jumped out of the way of most of them, but some hit anyway. The man raised his cane, and a reticle came out of the bottom, showing that the cane was hollow.

"Scatter! Get to cover now!"

The men scattered around as the second manta made itself known by unleashing a barrage of bullets into the man. The man was ragdolled across the area right into a group of four teenage girls. One was a rather short girl wearing weird black and red clothes whose black hair ended in red tips. Another was wearing modest black clothing and had an odd black ornament in her hair. The next one was a blond joy girl. The last one was wearing full white and looked an awful lot like winter.

The man shakily tried to stand only for the black and red one to whip a giant scythe off her back and slash at him. Something around the man shattered causing him to go even more pale than he was before. He dropped his cane and went onto his knees and raised his hands into the air.

One of the communications officers in Andrei's group tapped Andrei on the shoulder and handed him an already open scroll.

"What is it?"

"Sir, there is a bullhead heading your way now, it hasn't answered any hails and it doesn't appear in the database. How do you want us to proceed?"

"Shoot it down if it stops at our location without answering hails."

"Yes sir."

The call ended and Andrei turned to the comms officer.

"Connect me to the bullhead that is coming towards us."

"Yes sir."

The call didn't connect the first time, or the second, or even the third. It was by the fifth time that the bullhead answered.

"Unknown Bullhead this is Colonel Kuznetsov of the 1212th Cold Bloods, Identify yourself immediately."

"I'm afraid you have my subordinate, and I need him," A female voice answered. That was all Andrei needed. He cut the call and then connected to the manta on overwatch. "Shoot down the bullhead."

"Yes sir."

15 seconds later and the bullhead went up in a fiery explosion as two missiles hit it directly. Andrei nodded in satisfaction.

"You ten, go with Lieutenant Colonel Becker and secure any survivors from the bullhead."

The eleven soldiers salute and take off at a double time speed to get any survivors before they can form any sort of defense.

Andrei turned to the man and motioned for two of his men to take him. As the men grabbed him he shattered into glass. Andrei snapped his head to the side and started to look for the man.

"Spread out! Find him."

His men followed his orders without question. Immediately spreading out in pairs along the underside of the roadway. About a minute later there was a shout and the sound of several laser rifles going off. Andrei started to run that way, turning on his chainsword as he ran. The four girls from earlier were running after him. They quickly caught up to the retreating man. It appeared that a stray shot had hit him in the hip, making it difficult for him to walk. He was being supported by a girl with brown and pink hair. She had a weird shield on a stick with a point on the end. She was trying to support the man, run, and block all of the shots coming her way. Andrei slowed, raised his las-pistol and snapped off a shot at the duo. The laser punched a hole in the shield and hit the girl in the back, causing a pink field to snap into place around her and then waver. Andrei fired again and shattered the field. The laser hit her leg, causing her to fall to the ground clutching the new hole in her leg.

"Secure the two of them."

"Yes sir!"

Andrei motioned for the comms officer to come over and tried to contact the General.

"Kuznetsov? What seems to be the issue? And where are you?"

"General, I have found and apprehended two people working with the white fang piloting an experimental Atlisian mech. We also shot down a bullhead that was working with them. There may be more people caught there."

"How did you know the mech was there?"

"With all due respect sir, it was quite obvious. It was running through a roadway and there were students shooting at it."

"The scanner didn't pick anything up…" The General paused and hummed. "It seems we will have to update the software of our scanners. How did your scanners pick it up when ours didn't"

"We have scanners? I was using men to look out the windows"

Andrei hears the General sigh. "Just send me the prisoners."

"Yes sir."

The call ends and Andrei turns to his men.

"Get these two to the manta, I am going to check on the other squad."

"Yes sir"

Andrei started to walk where the bullhead wreck was still smoking when the girl in white started to follow him.

"Can I help you?" Andrei asks while still walking.

"I was wondering," The girl said. "Are you part of the Atlas Military?"

"Yes, Colonel Andrei Kuznetsov of the 1212th Cold Bloods."

"Weiss Schnee, Heiress to the Schnee Dust company. Huntress in training."

"Ah, you look remarkably like your sister."

"You know my sister?"

"Yes, she found me in the forests near Atlas. I was missing both of my legs at the time. Probably would've starved to death out there."

Weiss looked shocked

"But you're walking?"

Andrei tapped his leg with the back end of the still running chain sword causing a metallic ring to sound out. As they came around to the wreck of the bullhead, they saw Johanna and the rest of the squad holding two white fang members at gunpoint.

"Get the manta on overwatch down here. We are heading back."

"Yes sir!"

"A pleasure to meet you Ms. Schnee. May we meet again someday!"

"The pleasure is all mine Colonel."

The manta lifted into the sky and they left the four girls on the ground. Once they landed on the Valhalla, Andrei ordered the two fang members to be taken to the brig. Andrei goes to his quarters, layed down and went to sleep.
