The first thing she realised when she entered the eerie lit room was that he wasn't here.

"Son of a bit*!" she exclaimed and turned on her heel.

"Lily!" Father Peter ran behind her. "Wait, don't go!"

"I'll be back!" she said over her shoulder.

Close to the main street she grabbed a cab. Walking or taking public transportation like she usually did, would simply take too long.

Again, she found herself in front of the white terrace house. She didn't think she'd ever come back here again.

„Oh hello my dear, come on in." His mother greeted her. She seemed like a really nice person.

„Thank you, I'm here to pick up James." His mum eyed Evey warily, leaving the door open and went back inside. Voices could be heard, someone was coming closer to the door.

James appeared somewhat shocked.

„What are you doing here – again?!"

„You're coming with me, the cab is waiting, so you better hurry up or I'll make you cover the bill." She crossed her arms.

„Forget it." He said, attempting to close the door.

Evey held it open.

„Or.. I'll tell your lovely mum what a lovely specimen of a son she has."

„Go on, do it." He said, unimpressed.

Well, heavier armoury is needed here it seemed. For a second she questioned why she even cared.

„I'll tell her you made fun of my burned, scarred and poor, poor partner's ability to have sex."

„What the hell." He pulled the door almost closed behind him, panic on his face.

Two weeks ago she wouldn't have found her empty threat funny at all. But then things have changed since then… She probably should thank James for that.

Maybe in another life.

„What the hell do you want from me?!" he leaned down to whisper angrily in her face.

„I said we're going now. And you're now definitely paying for that cab!" she turned to leave, standing at the fenced entrance to their front yard.

To her enjoyment, he went inside and came out, now wearing shoes and his tracksuit. Pushing his hands deep into his pockets.

Back to the group it was then.

We're getting closer to the end guys. Only a few chapters left. I hope you're ready for the end, I'm certainly not.
