"Olly! I'm heading out for a bit! I need to make sure that my spot is reserved still!"

I waited until the door upstairs closed. I slowly stood and slid off of the table.

"I'm alone."

The room had a large table in the center of it, beaconing for me to approach. I floated over and saw...

A beautifully-folded Origami Kingdom.

Every fold and crease was done with accurate precision, as if whoever folded it wished for it to be perfect. I was supposed to be the King of this miniature place with my sister. He had yet to tell me her name.

The Origami Craftsman had supposedly found the perfect spot to display our Kingdom in his Kingdom known as the Mushroom Kingdom.

Why was it so small then?

If I was to be King, wouldn't there be royal soldiers to fight alongside me? Loyal subjects that I could help? A pet to take care of?

I dug through the Origami Craftsman's special drawer he said he didn't want me near. He was not home, and I was royalty, so I felt I could look through where I pleased.

I found a picture of me and the Origami Craftsman in there. He took the picture shortly after I was born. He had to pull me in, for, according to him, I was too far from the camera. I brought out another one of the Origami Craftsman and another green Toad I did not recognize. She and the Origami Craftsman were dressed fancily, with her wearing a long white dress and the Origami Craftsman was matching with a white tuxedo. She was holding flowers and there was confetti falling around them. He was carrying her out of the double doors behind them.

"Who is that woman?"

I heard the door open once more, and I put the picture of the Origami Craftsman and the Toad away and slid the drawer shut. I realized I was still holding the other picture, so I rushed to hide it behind the mirror when...

I saw strange black markings on my body.

I moved closer to the mirror and squinted, moving my bangs out of the way to see better. They seemed...blurry?

He defiled me, his own son and the Origami King.

"I'm back! I got some groceries while I was out!" He put some bags on his Origami desk and looked at me. "Olly? Are you okay, my son?'

"Son? How could you do this to your own son? I am not your son. I'm nothing to you."

"Olly? Are you upset that I left? I'm sorry, but I had to make everything would be perfect for the Origami Kingdom's reveal."

"How could you be so happy? You defiled me." My hands were shaking, causing the glass in the frame to rattle.

"Olly? What's wrong?"

I faced him and held up the picture. "This was a lie? You didn't love me at all, did you? You only cared about your stupid...CRAFTS!"

"Olly? How did you get that? I was going to give it to you as a birthday present next year-"

"Stop changing the subject, old man! You know what you did, unless you are so blinded by your own obsession to notice that I am in pain because of you?!"

"What are you talking about? I don't like that tone you're giving me."

"The markings."

I saw him freeze in his tracks. He glanced at the picture, the mirror, then back to me.

"Olly, that's nothing. Really. You don't need to worry about it-"

"I see." I looked at the image a final time. "If it truly is nothing, then you wouldn't mind me giving you them in return? You flat folk come up with the worst lies."

"Olly, calm down. You're not thinking clearly. I'll tell you what it is if you just take a deep breath." He held out his arms. "Come to your father, Olly. I know how to help."

A large piece of the wall fell off when I snapped. That word. That cursed word. "Father." He was walking on thin ice and that last word broke it all.

"Liar. Liar, liar liar liarliar!"

He put his arms back down. "Son...?"

"I am NOT your son! I do not want to live with someone who would hurt their own child; whether it was on accident or not!"

"Olly-"

"I am King Olly! I am not your son, and my sister is not your daughter! I am going to make my own Origami Kingdom so I can protect her from the likes of you!"

"It's just a misunderstanding, Olly! Calm down! Let me explain myself!"

"No! You hurt me, and you'll hurt her too! You-you..." My hands were shaking again. "You are nothing but a liar! I don't want you as a father!" I tossed the picture at the ground.

It shattered.
