Talk About a Timeout

The sounds of the waves crashing against the beach of the Ever After were the only sounds one could hear aside from the heavy breathing of two figures laying on their backs on the beach, both utterly drained. Ruby Rose and Neo Politon, both grasping for air after a fight, auras long shattered. Both had a black eye with blood running down their heads. Cuts were on their body slashing up their clothes, oozing fresh blood. Bite marks littered Ruby's exposed left arm while Neo had boot marks on her stomach.

"All this over Roman Torchwick?" Ruby asked. "He really made a lot to you. I'm feel for you if you didn't help ruin my life."

Ruby coughed as Neo wanted to choke Ruby to make her stop talking…but she did not have the strength.

"Penny and Pyrrha were my friends…maybe I could have stood to hang out with Pyrrha more, but damn it they didn't deserve to die like this. Nor did all those innocent people. What the hell gives you the right to be angry after all you've done?"

Neo could only let a strangled sound come from her mouth, still unable to from any words.

"Oh yeah, you can't speak. That must suck that you can't even retort to anything I'm saying right now. I guess insulting you would be a waste." Ruby said as Neo let out another noise. "Oh, stick a fork in it. Pretty sure, if we're not found by someone soon…we're done for. If we die, I hope your revenge was worth it…Cinder's still out there…and the world's going to burn…all because we screwed up. I wanted to be the hero so bad, but I just made it worse. For what it's worth, I wish Torchwick hadn't died…he deserved to be brought to justice…and not eaten by a Grimm."

Neo was silent upon hearing this, remembering that Cinder had told her that Ruby had killed him.

"If only things were different…I should have confronted Ironwood with the truth sooner. I let my fears and arrogance cloud my judgement. 'We don't need adults to tell us to do'? Ugh, I was so full of shit." Ruby lamented.

(A/N: Yes, a bit short, but I wanted it this way to highlight Ruby's post-fight clarity. I will admit, in terms of hands…Neo would win, though in this case, Ruby used her superspeed to pummel Neo to give just as much as Neo had. Given several circumstances, I will be taking a break from RWBYverse Is Infinite for a time to focus on other projects. RWBYverse content will return…in a month or two.)
