Spider-Man: Watch out! Here comes the Spider-Man! Took the gang to X's World to learn more on what Ultron's planning with the missing heroes. Zero and Axl joined us in time for our fight with Vile, a Maverick that has a serious grudge with X. Heard he's supposed to be dead. Why did Ultron bring him back to life? We're missing something here, and I want to know what.

BGM-Mega Man X8 OST-Deepening Mystery

"I was never expecting to see Vile again. He's gonna keep causing trouble 'til we take him down." Zero said amidst a meeting with the other Maverick Hunters and Dimensional Avengers, all of them discussing about their recent fight with Vile.

"If he knows what's best for him, he'll keep quiet 'til he gets his strength back." Wolverine conversed.

"Are we certain that it is Ultron that revived him?" X wondered.

"He's smart enough to do so. Vile made it sound like the Masters of Evil ain't involved in this fight." Wolverine replied.

"I find it hard to believe that a single Maverick can cause this much chaos across dimensions." Alia said.

"Ultron's not your ordinary Maverick. He's a monster that wants to destroy all life by any means necessary. After that mess working with Green Goblin, I'm sure he deleted the word teamwork from his computer brain." Spider-Man quipped, recalling Ultron working with Osborn's Cabal.

"Then he could be using others like Vile to do his dirty work. If only we caught him…" Knuckles scowled, frustrated they weren't able to interrogate Vile.

"I have an idea that might lead us to Ultron. Iron Man's armor has a built-in trace frequency. Micro-pings that only we can track, even across dimensions." Spidey said.

"Tony Stark, ever the paranoid futurist." Blake snarked dryly.

Spidey projects a holo-screen from his wrist device in his attempt to locate Iron Man. Unfortunately, a mysterious force blocks him from receiving his signal, much to his frustration, "Darn! Something's jamming the frequency! Sorry, guys. Thought that would work."

"You did your best." Alia comforted him, "Why not transfer me data on Ultron so I can work on an Ultron Detector App. It'll alert us as soon as any Ultron signature is detected."

"Let me help. I'm as smart as I am pretty." Spidey requested.

"That's not convincing me." Alia snarked, smiling at his weird costume.

"I know who can help. Doctor Light!" X smiled happily.

"He's still alive? Doc must be ancient since he built you a century ago." Sonic quipped.

"Yes and no. It's a little complicated." X replied, awkwardly as he walks toward another section of the Command Room.

BGM-Mega Man Maverick Hunter X OST-Dr. Light Capsule

X walks up to an inactive blue capsule and allows it to scan him if he's an enemy or not. Once confirming he is an old friend, the capsule activates to project the hologram of a bearded human scientist to the unified heroes. "Ah! Hello everyone. It is good to meet friends old and new, though I wish it was under better circumstances." The hologram greeted everyone with a polite smile.

"You're Doctor Light?" Ruby asked in amazement from confronting this holographic scientist.

"Indeed. Thomas Light. I am the researcher who designed and built Mega Man X." Doctor Light introduced himself.

"You're not just a hologram, are you. You're his consciousness uploaded into cyberspace." Spidey noticed.

"Excellent deduction. Although I may no longer physically exist in the present, my will to assist mankind lives on." Light stated.

"It is a real honor to meet you, sir. I've heard so much about your genius from your Blue Boys." Spidey said politely to the scientist who rivals Stark in pure genius.

"Likewise, Spider-Man. I cannot thank you and Wolverine enough for helping my sons against the multiple dimensional crises that have plagued our two worlds. Now you must do so again against this new threat." Light replied determinedly.

"Doctor Light, please tell us how are we to find Ultron and the missing heroes." X requested his creator's aid.

"I am updated on the situation and have been scanning the background radiation spectrum for answers. Both Earths have become linked by some form of technology that originated from this reality. Histories are connected and being distorted together. In other words, this universe is forcing your universe to copy what it does." Light informed them of what he learned about this dimensional problem so far.

"So we're two peas in a pod…? Haven't noticed anything odd." Spidey commented, grasping on what his fellow scientist said.

"I'm still amid research. Abel City might be an exception." Light replied.

"This is all confusing. How is this gonna help find Ultron?" Axl asked impatiently, lacking the IQ to comprehend their genius.

Light projects another hologram in the middle of the room, one displaying a strange energy reading located at another part of the world. "I am detecting a temporal rift in Russia containing a dimensional signature similar to Spider-Man and Wolverine. One of the missing heroes must be there. I suggest you investigate it immediately." He tasked them.

"Traveling dimensions and now time? This adventure is quickly gettin' crazy. I like it!" Sonic smirked eagerly.

"It's going to make it difficult to maintain contact." Alia stated, recalling how she lost X's signal when he traveled to the other Earth.

"Just link up to D.A.N. and use our channel." Spidey allowed the navigator.

"DAN?" The confused Alia questioned.

"Data Analysis Network. Our multiversal satellite. I helped build it." Spidey bragged casually.

"Impressive. You're smarter than you look." Alia grinned, growing more respect for Peter's intellect.

"Told ya." Spidey shrugged, before a jealous Blake drags him away from his accidental flirting with the reploid navigator. "Hey!" He shouted as the unified heroes go to begin their next mission.

Kazakh City, Year Meio 0048. (Alternate Timeline).

A temporal rift has opened in the skies of a dystopian winter world that flies out the Aven-Jet piloted by Zero. The unified heroes arrived in this unknown timeline that may hold some answers to Ultron's whereabouts and his dark scheme. "Alia, come in! We successfully made it through the temporal rift. Beginning investigation." X contacted his navigator.

'Copy that, X. Scanning the timeline via DAN to learn more of your environment.' Alia responded.

"Does this place look familiar to anyone?" Ruby asked the party.

"Never read anything about this in history logs. Something about this time feels hopeless." said Axl, looking out the window to stare worriedly at a snowy mountain range.

"I'm not detecting Ultron here either. But I am analyzing that energy reading Dr. Light detected. It's one of ours. It's Vision!" Spider-Man informed the team of what his scanners have detected.

"He's okay!" Sonic retorted in relief to hear their fellow hero is still alive.

"He's alive, not sure if he's okay. Probably locked up somewhere in that city." Spidey pointed out a massive metropolis up ahead. A humongous city that looks to combine ornate Russian architecture with hard-edged futuristic high-rise buildings.

"Looks to be heavily fortified. We'll have to handle this with stealth. I'll find a place for us to land." Zero decided.

BGM-Strider (2014) OST-Raid

Suddenly, Knuckles was monitoring enemy sensors when he detected hostiles about to attack. "Hold that thought! We have incoming!" He alerted everyone to brace themselves.

The city's defenses are active and determined to shoot down all that dare to invade, assaulting the Aven-Jet with relentless turret fire. Zero is an ace pilot, flying the jet with extreme skill and a calming demeanor that helps it evade all enemy gunfire with relative ease. "Go on ahead! I'll catch up! Just don't hog all the fun!" Zero ordered his friends to infiltrate the city themselves.

"Don't bet on it!" Sonic quipped.

Everyone skydives from the Aven-Jet while Zero flies it to a private landing zone. An army of mass-produced androids called Light Troopers try dispatching the skydivers with their rifles but fail, with Knuckles punching a landing spot on a bridge with the powerful force to blow away dozens of soldiers seconds before another trigger-happy squadron replaces them.

"So much for stealth." Axl joked.

Axl assists in clearing a path through the city gate by sliding down a snowy slope dual-blasting everyone his robotic eyes can find. One Light Trooper is left with a weapon that is slashed into two immediately by Ruby, who ducks under their punch before Wolverine kicks them down. "Rolling Shield!" X fires out an energy sphere as soon as they reached a city bridge, watching it roll along the ground and alongside a spindashing Sonic. Their powers combined barrel through the opposing forces and is made sweeter once Sonic kicks the Rolling Shield through flying PNUT drones, and as a Spider-Man keeping up with them web-slams the projectile onto a crowd blocking them from progress.

"Alia, have you figured out what is going on 'bout this place?" Wolverine asked while clawing through enemy robots.

'You're in Kazakh City in the Year 2048. The capital of Grandmaster Meio.' Alia informed them.

"Sound familiar?" Blake asked X while they fight back-to-back, with her slashing robots and the reploid blasting drones.

"Never heard of him!" X retorted.

'That timeline is different from our own. From what I gathered, Grandmaster Meio rules this world. He showed up out of nowhere and took over the whole planet in just a few years, exerting complete control from his base at Kazakh City.' Alia explained.

"Great, we're partying in a dystopia. How is Ultron connected to all of this?" Spidey wondered, comboing a Trooper with acrobatic blows.

'I don't know yet. I'll continue research. For now, rendezvous with Zero. Head for that checkpoint on your left!' Alia directed.

The checkpoint she mentioned is a short tunnel bridge connecting the exterior area to some inspection section where they are confronted by more Light Troopers and one of Meio's Elite Guard, a Vityaz-1. "This is where you journey ends, intruders." The Vityaz threatened. Wolverine takes on the Vityaz personally with a mighty roar and adamantium claws that are countered coldly by its aggressive pole weapon. The Elite Guard is fast, mostly contributed to his cutting-edge teleportation technology, and gives the X-Man a good fight. The two are evenly matched even while locking weapons, until the Vityaz is ambushed by a more superior robot.

"Shippuuga!" Zero arrives with a powerful assist, executing a dash blade attack on Vityaz's back that weakens him greatly. "Thanks for leaving me the good stuff." He joked by Logan's side.

"Wasn't intentional." Logan quipped.

Zero fires a buster shot that the Vityaz deflects with an aggressive pole swing. Blake then dashes in to help her friends by tricking the guard to attack her, fooling him with a shadow clone thanks to her Semblance so she may disarm him of his energy pole and leave him open for a savage assault from both Logan and Zero. At once from different sides, Blake's war-crying sword, Zero's battle grunting blade, and Wolverine's roaring claws stab Vityaz until he screams himself to an explosive demise.

"Let's keep moving! More will catch up!" Zero commanded, leading everyone away to anywhere where they won't be constantly shot at.

Eventually, the heroes gave the guards the slip and found a safe haven in a quiet yet dimly lit room that can easily hide one that is the master of shadows. "We should be safe for now." Zero claimed.

"Any closer to Vision?" Ruby asked her webbed friend.

"No." Spidey answered.

"This Meio guy really hates people touring his city. Maybe he's the one behind our worlds colliding and just using Ultron and Vile." Axl thought.

"It is possible. Not like any of us here knows much about him." Blake remarked.

Just then, Wolverine catches the scent of a mysterious operative sneaking in the shadows around them. "Bet I know someone who does…" The X-Man pops out his claws just as the shadowy figure rushes to attack him at silent speeds. Silent threats that shock everyone else cross, with Logan's throat inches away from being stabbed by a plasma sword, and the neck of a purple-dressed ninja almost clawed by the mutant. "Strider Hiryu." The apathetic Logan recognized this man.

"Wolverine." said Strider Hiryu, a master mystery with expert ninja skills.

BGM-Project X Zone OST-Silent Approach

"Strider?! No way!" Spidey exclaimed in shock as he too knows this ninja.

"Never thought I see you again." Zero remarked calmly.

"You know this ninja?" Sonic questioned those familiar with this person.

"We fought together against other dimensional threats. Last time was Galactus." Spidey answered, before turning to his old dimensional ninja ally, "What are you doing here?"

"I am on a mission to eliminate Grandmaster Meio." Strider answered with just a few stoic words, while he and Logan sheath their weapons after confirming they are not enemies with each other.

"So this is your timeline we're in." X realized.

"What do you mean?" Strider asked for clarification.

"We're dealing with a crisis that threatens dimensions and time itself. An evil robot by the name of Ultron has kidnapped some friends of ours and we're trying to save them. One of them is being held hostage in this city. We suspect he is working with the Grandmaster." X briefed him on the current situation.

"Hmm…I have heard rumors of a partnership between Meio and a foreign robot for a mysterious goal. They may be this Ultron you speak of." Strider informed them.

"Then how about we form a partnership of our own. We're all after the same guy and you know more about this city." Wolverine proposed to Strider to join their alliance.

"Fine." Strider accepted with no fuss, "But we must hurry."

"To where?" Ruby shrugged.

"Meio's Tower. We will find our enemies and your friend there." Strider said before racing ahead toward his destination.

"Hey-Wait!" Sonic shouted whilst reaching for their new friend that just left them without regret.

Spidey sighs, "Ninjas."

"He does give off an Espio vibe. They both love purple." Sonic joked as the party rushes to catch up with their latest ally.

Meio's Tower.

BGM-Project X Zone OST-Deadly Whisper

"They are on their way here. Just as you predicted." A mysterious cloaked figure said with no legs, floating in a security room that is helping him spy on Strider and his newfound dimensional allies. This man is Grandmaster Meio, the Lord of Darkness thar rules this timeline. As well as Ultron Sigma's most powerful partner.

"Humans. Like Vile, they are so easy to analyze and determine how their emotions will guide them. The search for their friends will ultimately lead to their destruction." Ultron Sigma said in this holographic meeting, revealing he has orchestrated everything just so he could destroy his enemies all at once.

"The Maverick Hunters, and of course Strider, are worthy of being threats. But why these children?" The curious Meio questioned what threat the Dimensional Avengers hold.

"It was not just mere luck that allowed the Dimensional Avengers to acquire four Exo Stones. They possess an unknown potential that could be disastrous to our plans if not observed." Ultron Sigma then takes a closer look of the live footage displaying Spidey and Sonic, "Spider-Man and Sonic the Hedgehog. Those two specifically have a talent to harness the Stones in ways thought impossible. Besides X, they pose the greatest danger. They must be disposed of."

"Are the Maverick Avengers complete?" Meio asked.

"Close. We just require data from some field tests before initiating Phase 2." Ultron Sigma answered vaguely. On cue, a caped minion of his appears in the shadows and is awaiting orders from his master. "What a better time for friends to reunite." He proclaimed, with dark ominous that causes his shadowy minion to open his pink eyes.

BGM-Strider (2014) OST-Kazakh City

Kazakh City is now on high alert for the heroic intruders that dare to challenge the Grandmaster's will. Security is tight and imposing. Nothing that the great Strider can handle. Armed with his iconic Cypher sword, the silent ninja takes down numerous Light Troopers before they knew what hit them. He isn't worried about those he left alive to sound the alarms, because the likes of Spider-Man, Wolverine, Zero, and Blake use their own unique abilities to subdue the guards and better clear a path for the rest of their friends.

"We are near." Strider whispered to his allies, leading them to their objective.

"What's the deal with this city anyway? Looks like past and future merged together here." Sonic noted, glancing at old onion domed buildings sitting next to modern skyscrapers.

"Indeed. Kazakh City exists in a distorted reality in which buildings built at different points in history mix together erratically. Over the course of Meio's rule, the city has expanded to include several other compounds serving as the staging centers for Meio's military power and experimental research. Its citizens living in constant fear under martial law." Strider briefed them on how miserable this timeline is.

"That's horrible. Was there no one that could fight back?" X expressed sympathy for the poor people of this world.

"Only one. The Striders. The organization I belong to. All before me were slain in the mission to eliminate Meio." Strider explained.

"So now you're here to avenge your friends." Blake frowned.

"I am here to complete my mission. Nothing more." Strider stated apathetically.

"Whatever you say, Sunshine." Spider-Man quipped.

Swiftly afterwards, the party arrives at a large open plaza facing a huge towering spire that gives the impression it reaches into heaven itself. "There. Meio's Tower." Strider pointed out.

"How inconspicuous." Knuckles joked sarcastically.

Several turrets installed in the staircase struggle to blast the heroes that are racing toward the entrance. Once inside, they find themselves in the central tower with an Orbital Elevator that leads directly to the tower's top. "It's quiet. Too quiet. Where is everyone?" Axl wondered.

'This is most definitely a trap. My scans say Meio is on the top floor.' Alia informed them.

"Be ready for anything." Strider warned everyone.

BGM-Mega Man X8 OST-VS Sigma Demo

The dimensional alliance board the Orbital Elevator and allow it to ascend them to a confrontation with the Grandmaster of this world. The ascent is long and foreboding, giving the heroes enough time to ready themselves for the worst. After a few minutes of enduring no elevator music, the heroes have arrived at the top of the spire. The Throne Room. Where Meio is nowhere to be seen. Only heard.

"Greetings, young Strider. We have been expecting you and your companions for some time. We thank you for coming to visit our accomplishments." Grandmaster Meio said from the shadows.

"You must be Grandmaster Mayonnaise. Where are ya? It's not nice to greet your guests while hiding like a wimp." Spidey mocked, trying to get him out of hiding.

"Why did you conquer this world? What was wrong with living with its people in peace?" X interrogated.

"The people of this planet have squandered the gifts we gave them. All of their imperfections and weaknesses have given us clarity. We will start anew and bring about the new age!" Meio proclaimed, which sounds like nonsense to the heroes.

"You and Ultron?" X retorted.

Meio lets out a mocking chuckle, "Ignorant fools. They are Ultron but not Ultron. They are the pinnacle of Evolution that we desire to share with all reality.", before suddenly revealing his haunting floating figure before his enemies, "Come, heroes. You will serve me. You will help us reshape all worlds."

"We will not serve you or any other dead man." Strider coldly rejected his offer.

"Disappointing and so 'imperfect'…" Meio lamented.

"Like there's anything wrong with that! Just tell us where Vision is!" Spidey demanded.

"He is here." Meio gestured. His simple hand gesture signaled the red synthezoid to descend to his side. The Vision. Whose head is lowered for a worrisome reason, "And he has been dying to meet you."

"Vision!" Spidey reaches out for him, just for Strider to block him, "Huh?" For he senses something is not right with Vision.

BGM-Transformers Devastation OST-Deception Sergeant

The instant Vision puts up his head, his eyes glow deadly pink alongside his forehead solar gem that fires a powerful solar beam that knocks away the unified heroes. "Vision! What the hell are you doing?!" Wolverine demanded an answer for this shocking betrayal.

"Terminating all who oppose my master's vision." Vision answered emotionlessly, readying himself to fight his now-former friends.

In delight from this fight between friends, Meio laughs, "KILL THEM ALL!", whilst summoning an army of his robots to aid Vision in the destruction of the heroes. X leads most of his friends in a counterattack against them, entrusting the team consisting of Spidey, Sonic, Zero, and Strider to subdue Vision, if possible. Vision is a powerful android that commands control over solar energy as well as his own density. Increasing his density allows his body to repel a Spin Dash from Sonic. Decreasing his density allows the blades of Zero and Strider to pass through his being as if he's a ghost. He slams the special class warriors onto each other before phasing through the floor to avoid Spidey's dropkick, swiftly reemerging to uppercut then smash the webslinger to a weakened state until he is saved by Zero blasting Vision in the back.

"Has your friend gone Maverick?" Zero shouted at the crimefighter.

"Not by choice. They must have reprogrammed him to do their dirty work." Spidey retorted.

'Let me look into it.' Alia takes it upon herself to scan Vision for any tampering to his systems while he's busy fighting the heroes. What she discovers, however, horrifies her to the core. 'No. It can't be…' She muttered, seeming to know what has drove Vision mad.

Sonic tries retorting, "Say something, Alia-?", before he is rudely interrupted by Vision's explosive fists.

"Your friend is showing no mercy to us. We must do the same." Strider said to Spidey, deciding to stop holding back against the corrupted android.

"No! Vision is still in there! I know I can reach him!" Spidey argued, wanting to save his friend without violence. The brief clash between Strider and Vision ends with the latter overpowering the ninja. Spidey then assaults him with web-swinging web shots just to get his attention as he sticks onto a wall, attempting to reason with his corrupted friend, "Vision! Listen to me! You're not yourself! Ultron has taken control of your mind! You can fight him back! You've done it before! Think about Wanda!"

For an unnoticeable second, Vision hesitates. Yet still fires a solar beam that knocks Spidey off the wall. "Less talking, more fighting! Raikousen!" shouted Zero, unleashing an electrified dashing saber slash that scratches Vision's uniform, much to his annoyance.

"Sorry 'bout this, Vision! You're leaving us with no choice!" Sonic knocks him down with an axe kick to the head then swiftly knocks him back up with a backflip kick, sending himself onto a wall that he bounces off to continue his high-speed assault. Unfortunately, Vision is just as fast to recover and harden himself to effortlessly deflect all of his spin attacks, giving himself enough time to interrupt the hedgehog with a charged solar blast. "What is he made of? I've fought Super Badniks, Gizoids, and war machines, but this bot is in a whole other league!" Sonic panted, amazed by Vision's strength.

"He's tougher than most Reploids. Any ideas, Spider-Man? He's your teammate." Zero asked him.

"We need to surprise him. Hit him with something that he won't see coming and counter with his density control." Spidey advised his friends.

"I will accomplish that. Distract him." Strider ordered before teleporting himself into the shadows.

Spider-Man leads the other two to buy Strider some time, starring the webslinger launching an impressive diving kick that simply phases through Vision's body. Sonic hits him with a Spin Dash that struggles to push him back with everything he's got while Zero pesters him with buster shots. Getting somewhat irritated, Vision throws the hedgehog onto the Hunter and grabs the wallcrawler by the throat when he tried again to attack.

"Cease resisting. Your destruction is inevitable." Vision claimed.

Unbeknownst to Vision until it is too late, Strider reappears from the shadows with a cold counter, "Agreed.", before saving Spider-Man's life by lifting Vision high into the air. He unleashes his best move called Ragnarok, comboing the synthezoid using multiple images of himself at speeds faster than he can track. "It's over." Strider stated, finishing his hyper combo in style with the use of three copies that strike him with fearsome force from different angles simultaneously.

Strider strikes a cool landing pose, before Vision crashes behind him in embarrassing defeat. "C-Catastrophic system failure…Density controls offline…" Vision said weakly, unable to do anything but allow Spider-Man to web him his restraints.

"You're coming with us, Vision. We're gonna get you some help, I promise." Spidey assured him, just as X's group finish off the last of Meio's army.

"Too early for that!" argued Grandmaster Meio, firing an energy blast that knocks everyone but Vision aback. "He is the Vision of our new future. One that you still have time to reconsider. Survive, and we may meet again." He laughs maniacally, teleporting both himself and Vision to an unknown retreat.

BGM-Sonic Advance 2 OST-Egg Frog (Egg Utopia Boss)

Immediately after, Meio left behind one last surprise. He activated the self-destruct that is causing his entire tower to explode in a last-ditch effort to kill the heroes. "The tower is collapsing! We must escape!" Strider exclaimed, leading the group away from the explosions that are consuming the throne room.

"Zero, where did you park my ship?" Spidey asked while calling for the Aven-Jet to pick them up.

"It's too far! We're gonna have to jump!" Zero shouted.

The unified heroes jump out the window just mere seconds after the throne room burst into flames. Everyone is freefalling from a tremendous height with the extreme danger of splatting to the streets below. Luckily, the Aven-Jet intercepts in time to pick them up. "There's our ride!" Axl smiled gratefully.

All but Strider and Zero crash into the jet in a very unstylish manner that prompts the Dr. Light hologram to emerge and ask them, "Are you alright?"

"We're fine! Take us home, Doc!" retorted Sonic, which is acknowledged by the nodding doctor as he commands the Aven-Jet to fly at top speed away from the chaos within Kazakh City.

"Whew! I don't ever want to do that again…" Blake quipped dryly, tending to her headache after narrowly surviving that mission.

"So what now?" Knuckles wonders what they should do next.

"The Grandmaster is still alive. He must be stopped." Strider expressed stoically, insistent in completing his mission by any means necessary.

'I can't get a read on his energy signature. Wherever he and Vision are now, I don't think they're on that world anymore.' Alia informed them, unable to locate their enemies.

BGM-Mega Man X7 OST-Theme of X

"I want to know what happened to Vision. He smelled different. Sounded more robot than usual." Wolverine said.

"The look in his eyes…I've seen that look before. Your friend wasn't just reprogrammed. He was infected by a virus." commented Zero, leaning on the wall with his arms folded.

"What kind of virus can do that to Vision?" Wolverine questioned.

And without hesitation, Zero answers his question with this, "The Sigma Virus."

The other Maverick Hunters express utter shock from hearing this. Which makes it more obvious to the confused Dimensional Avengers that there is more to this Sigma Virus than they realize. "Guessing this isn't your ordinary flu." Spidey quipped.

"No, this is far worse. And if the Sigma Virus is involved…then this could only mean that it's not just Ultron and Meio we have to worry about." X replied, with that ominous accompanying them as they use the temporal rift to return to Abel City.

KFX Here: What a difference from the original story, huh. Strider's world in this chapter is based on the 2014 Strider video game. Strider is just one of several other Capcom characters that is joining the resistance against Ultron Sigma. More will be introduced in the upcoming chapters.
