IF had a multitude of emotions to describe her current state. But the most prominent of which were anger and humiliation. This was ridiculous! How could this happen to her!? An elite guild agent? Capable of taking down the strongest ancient dragons! Yet? Her adversary this time?
"Iffy?" her ever gentle voice asked, as IF felt herself crumble more and more.
This was all Neptunes fault! How dare she? She led her down to this room, under the pretense she had a 'highly suspicious' individual IF had to get info out of. She even looked serious about it! Yet… when she walked in….
"Compa!?" IF asked, utterly shocked. Was… was Compa the 'highly suspicious' individual? What on earth? Yet, as she whipped her head around to demand answers from her friend, she only saw a quickly closing door, confused, IF knocked on the door, "Nep! What the hell!?" She yelled, as she heard snickering behind the door,
"You have been, as they say in the biz, outplayed my dear friend Miss I - F" Neptune boldly declared, as IF was taken aback, trying to open the mechanical door as was standard in the basilicom, she soon found the task impossible as the door refused to open, narrowing her eyes, IF soon withdrew her ID pass that Neptune had demanded the staff issue her, as was standard for all her closest friends (although the staff simply refused to make them for the other goddesses, despite Neptune's demands), IF soon finding her pass was ineffective, hearing the failed pass ding, Neptune snickered once more,
"Oh my dear Iffy… that won't work. I locked that door with the highest priority! Literally only the pass of the goddess herself will unlock that! So don't try texting Nep Jr. or anything, cause even she can't get you out!" Neptune mocked, and if IF could see her, she would see her rubbing her finger below her nose,
"What the hell! Nep! When I get out of here, I'm gonna suplex you!" IF threatened, yet, it did nothing to stop Neptune's laughing,
"Threaten all you want, but there's only one way you're getting out of there; you have to tell the lovely nurse that accompanies you now how you feel about her!" Neptune ordered as IF felt her spirit crumble. Leaving her in the state she was in now, but, she was however, left with one question,
"Wait! How the hell did she trap you, Compa!?" IF turned to her 'childhood best friend', as Compa simply let her features droop.
"B-sha told me she found a kid in need of medical attention… then she locked me here… what a meanie…" Compa soon pouted as she levied her complaints about Planeptune's gold third, causing IF to whip her head around, yelling at the door once more,
"That goes ditto for you B-sha! You are totally getting suplexed!" She yelled at her gilded friend, whom she could hear snicker next to the nations goddess,
"Oh yea? You should be thankin me! As a matter of fact… you owe me 1,000 credits for giving you the perfect opportunity!" B-sha yelled back, as IF felt herself grow more and more embarrassed.
This was humiliating. Not only were they seemingly demanding she confess to Compa…
Had they really seen right through her? Had the two least subtle people IF knew seen right through her?
Humiliating.
Not only that… they were right. IF had known Compa her entire life. They grew up together. And, when they were kids, everything was perfect. She didn't have to worry about anything. But… as they aged… when they were in highschool, IF began to notice things. Like, how good puberty did her friend, unlike how it had skipped over her… or how everyone began to ogle her friend. Or… how she was one of them.
When did Compa become the most beautiful person she had ever seen? Or how the clothes she wore accented every part of her body.
It wasn't just that… Compa was still the same ol Compa. She was still the ball of friendly fluff she always was. The best person to be around. The type of person that made everything ok, even if it really wasn't. No matter what, she made IF feel better. Like no matter what happened, she would make her better. Maybe it shouldn't have been a surprise to her that she wanted to become a nurse…
And maybe it shouldn't have been a surprise that IF became a guild agent. In highschool she made it a habit to teach any guy who had the gaul to try something weird with Compa a lesson. And sure… none of them ever looked at her and sure maybe that bothered her at one point, but the way they shamelessly gawked at her friend made her blood boil.
Who cared if she was secretly doing the same!? They were both girls! It was fine! She could appreciate what nature did to her friend! Even if it had skipped her entirely! It was fine! It was fine!
Until it wasn't. And IF had to come to terms with the fact she had fallen in love with her best friend. She tried her best to hide it… but apparently even Neptune and B-sha had noticed. Goddess how humiliating! And while, the average person would find their goddess giving them her blessing in love a sign from divine power, it wasn't as though IF even could view Neptune as a goddess at this point.
She was just mocking her.
"Iffy?" Compa asked once more, as IF looked at her, her peach eyes, matching her hair, as friendly as they always were. Ever since they were kids. That spark never faded, no matter what hardships she faced, no matter how ugly life got, she was always there. IF couldn't stand it, how was she so beautiful!?
How was she supposed to say she loved her?
She knew she loved her! But so would any rational person! Everyone should love Compa! She was literally perfect! She didn't have a single flaw!
"Iffy?" she gently asked, as IF whipped her head away from her, smashing her fists on the door once more,
"I'm serious Nep! Let me out!" IF pleaded, yet…
"Sorry, what was that? Did you hear anything, my lovely Bae-sha?" Neptune mocked, as she heard a snicker next to her,
"Nope! Must've been the wind!"
Those two were dead to IF, and did they really have to rub her relationship in her face again!?
"Iffy are you ok?" Compa gently asked, as IF felt herself jump in place as she felt Compa's arms wrap around her, flipping her to face her once more, as she planted her forehead squarely on her own, as IF nearly exploded at the close contact,
"Iffy is running a fever!" the nurse declared, as Compa soon yelled to the outside herself,
"You two! Playtime is over! Iffy is running a fever!" She yelled, her expertise as a medical professional should make those two listen-
"Hahahhah!"
"Bwhahaha! We broke the Iffy!"
Yet those two seemed to think it was the funniest joke ever,
"Just tell her Iffy!" Neptune soon yelled through her laughs, as IF gritted her teeth,
"What does she mean, Iffy?" Compa tilted her head, ditzy as ever,
How was IF supposed to tell her!? Why was Compa supposed to settle for her!? Compa was perfect how on earth was IF supposed to expect she would choose her over everyone? IF was just some broad.
"C-Compa-" IF began her voice breaking, as she gritted her teeth, tears welling in her eyes, she couldn't do it. "Nep I'm serious I can't do it!" She pleaded, but at this point, she received no response, as the two simply let the scene play out,
"Iffy? Iffy?! Are you ok!?" Compa asked, worry dripping from her tone, Iffy never cried! Even as kids, when IF would beat away the bullies, much older than them, and as her scrapes and bruises ached, and as Compa would do her best to tend to them, she never cried. Ever. "Iffy… why are you crying?! You're… not allowed to cry…" Compa could feel herself crying as well, a sight IF herself couldn't bear to watch.
Looking at her with torn, teary eyes. IF forced her body to move with every fiber of resolve in her body.
"C-Compa…" She began, as she looked down, a shadow covering her eyes, the next words she said she surely knew would break her heart, "Compa… I… Love you. I love you so much it hurts. It's been so long and I- I don-"
IF couldn't even finish her sentence before she felt Compa throw her lips onto hers. IF's eyes widening as she simply melted in her embrace. Her lips somehow tasted as sweet as she was. It was even better than she had ever envisioned.
Yet, all good things must come to an end, and as Compa pulled away, both women had tears gently streaming down their cheeks,
"W-why? Why me?" was all IF could ask. Why her? Among everyone?
"Hehe… Iffy, it's because I love you too silly! I have loved you forever! I remember telling my Grandpa I'd marry you one day!" Compa brightly smiled, as IF felt her heart melt. How? "And you know what iffy?"
"What?" IF couldn't even hear her own voice anymore, not entirely convinced she wasn't dreaming,
"I knew you loved me too~" She cheekily smiled, as IF nearly fell over,
"W-wha!?"
"Oh sweetie~ You're not as subtle as you think~ I did pass nursing school silly, I'm far from stupid~" Compa dreamily declared as she pecked IF on the cheek, before the new couple heard the door unlock, a more than smug couple awaiting them,
"Now that wasn't so bad, was it!" Neptune laughed, next to her, B-sha extended her gloved hand,
"I expect payment in 2-3 business days!" She ordered, as IF simply stood up, gently walking over to her goddess friend…
As she grabbed her and threw her behind her back as hard as she could, before glaring over to the gold third, who boldly tried to run, to escape her punishment,
"Get back here! You're next!" She yelled, yet….
Somehow she was happier then she ever had been…
