Of course the surveillance cameras and listening bugs didn't show any results, which was somewhat of a relief for most of the Task forces as they thought the Kitamura and Yagami families were clear of all suspicion. They were quite annoyed when Ryuzaki together with Naomi explained to them that the fact that the footage did not reveal anything only showed that Kira could somehow kill and not make it visible on the cameras. The rest of the time they were tracking Kira's murders and trying to uncover one more small clue that would help them get one step closer to the killer. But today the Task Force was released, so they spent their day at their police department as Ryuzaki prepared to head to To-Oh University for a test where he and Light would meet face to face for the first time.
Tomoko also decided to take part in this charade of playing a police officer in disguise so that when Ryuzaki created a self-seeking profile on his computer, she carefully watched every step he made as he created one of his fake identities. Since it was impossible to use Ryuzaki's laptop, Tomoko decided that when Watari was busy in the kitchen and Ryuzaki was in his room, she would use his computer and repeat everything she saw Ryuzaki doing on his. Her cat paws slowed her down a lot and it took her a good fifteen minutes to finish everything, unlike when she was in her human form but she couldn't risk being caught by anyone.
After that, she just had to stroke one of the wigs and contact lenses that Watari had gotten for Naomi, who was not allowed to go out in public without a disguise. Tomoko was disappointed that she could not lose her ears and tail, but thought that the wig could solve the problem with the ears and the tail could be easily hidden by wrapping it around the waist under the shirt. But in any case, it was better than being stuck in just cat form for a while. Then she noticed that Ryuzaki and Watari were heading towards the door (of course Watari with a mask all disguised) Then Tomoko took the opportunity to get out and come with them to the university, which they didn't protest at all. Of course Tomoko made her way to the parking lot through the window that Watari decided to leave open every morning after she brought Naomi in because she seemed to somehow manage to damage the lock with her claws.
When she got down to the parking lot, Watari and Riyazuki were waiting for her in their black car and the doors of the back seats were open just enough for her to get through. Inside Ryuzaki sat in a crouched position, reaching out to close the door as Tomoko entered. As the door closed Watari began to drive towards the university as Ryuzaki patted his shoulder signaling Tomoko to get on as he showed something on his laptop which was open next to him. They have started practicing this since the last week when in the Task Force and Naomi started to place papers, files, surveillance camera videos everywhere and often not paying attention to where they are sitting due to fatigue. In her boringness, when Tomoko wanted to look at the evidence or anything, she almost ended up either buried, or trampled or crushed.
Ryuzako was the first to notice and first tried to hold her somehow on his lap which made Tomoko very uncomfortable as she felt firstly like a human/cat burrito and secondly she still had her own angry dignity and she didn't like being in such direct contact with people even though she was a cat. So when she squirmed she climbed onto his shoulder holding onto his shirt with her front claws and the rest of her body hanging down his back. This way they both felt much more comfortable to work with and Riyazuki was able to function better without her hindering or restricting his movements.
Ryuzaki opened the Light data file on his computer saying. "Kei, I have a little task for you if you don't mind?" Tomoko just nodded her head indicating that she was ready for the task Ryuzaki was talking about. Riyazuki then continued with the story. "I would like to ask you to keep an eye on Light Yagami. And follow him during and after the test. Of course I would like you to get back to the hotel at a decent time." He paused while biting his cuticles, changing the picture with the cat collars, much to Tomoko's surprise and a little insulting. "Also the next time I send you to watch him you will wear a collar with a camera and we will show you how to activate it. Why don't you pick one you like." Tomoko was surprised by this suggestion but somehow thought it was a good idea since she would be able to catch Light in the act before the other Kira showed up. But there was a small problem that Light had already seen her and must have remembered her appearance as she stole the envelope. Her black fur was distinctive with her unusual blue eyes that were unusual for her race, so she had to think of something to disguise herself.
But first the necklace...' Her gaze wandered across the screen until she noticed a dark blue necklace that already contained a silver plate inside that could easily hide a camera and appeared to be made of a softer leather-like material which meant that she won't mind. The advantage was also that she wouldn't act like a wanderer with it, and the shinters wouldn't chase her if she was reaping in public places that she had avoided until then. She slowly reached out and touched the necklace of her choice, to which Ryazuki just nodded and then packed his laptop back muttering along the way, "Good decision..." Tomoko looked at him strangely and then scoffed that it was possible that he had assumed that she would choose it.
When they reached the test venue, while Ryuzaki was getting out, Tomoko sneaked out and hid under the car, waiting for Ryuzaki to move away and then to sneak out from where she had previously hidden her camouflage items. "Kei..." Tomoko is heard Watari whisper through the slightly open window, wishing she could hear him. "Don't stay too long and be careful." With a name Tomoko heard the window close and then started to climb the emergency stairs so that no one would notice her as she climbed to the roof of the building. , It seems that Watari has started to consider me a member of family when he has already shown that he considers me a person and not just an ordinary pet.' Tomoko's heart warmed as she thought about it remembering her mother, father, her grandfather and the rest of her FBI team who were part of the family. It was sad that she somehow managed to find a place for herself and friends that she didn't plan on losing again. When she got to the roof and pulled the stuff out of the elephant house a.k.a. the ventilation pipe again, she listened to check if anyone was around which of course was impossible since the test started in twenty minutes. That meant she only had five minutes to adjust her wig and contacts if she planned to enter the hall before Light.
Light's POV
As my mom and Sayu saw me off the gate as I took my university entrance exam, urging me not to be late and wishing me luck. Ryuk, as usual, followed me all the time, not paying attention to whether I was alone or there were people around me to say something. "I'm relieved that I don't have to worry about bugs in the house anymore." Ryuk was right about that. It was nice to know that one of the stresses was solved before I had to go to the exam. Only when I go to university will I have plenty of space to act like Kira. And after that I can focus on finding who L really is.' While I was walking down the street, one of the organizers warned me to hurry so I wouldn't be late for the test, so I answered him without stopping. "It's okay. I planned to come three minutes before the test. I hate waiting. I'm early." Ryuk chuckled, mocking my confidence and arrogant answer, but I didn't pay much attention to him. By now I was used to him following me everywhere like a shadow, but that didn't matter now. The important thing was to finish the test and go home as soon as possible so that he could continue with my plan.
After all, the gods are on my side when you think about it. First the plan with Raye Penber went smoothly without a hitch, then I ran into his finacee as well as her younger sister who was kind enough to give me their real names so easily it was hard not to laugh out loud. At first I thought she was going to ruin my plan with her unpredictable, hyperactive always smiling behavior and that Maki was going to escape my grasp. And since the footage from the train station when I imbibed Raye didn't seem to draw any conclusions I could thank the street cat who destroyed the evidence for me, most likely thinking it was someone who forgot the food. Even if it was one of ours, they wouldn't be able to connect it to me because I was careful enough not to leave any traces behind. Everything simply went according to plan.
After a few minutes the test started and everyone rushed and grabbed their pencils and started working as if their lives depended on it while I was going over the questions on the papers. , This is going to be easy.' when I took the pen in my hands, one of the attendants shouted, attracting my attention. "Hey there. Student number 162, sits normally on the chair." When I turned around, the person in charge was scolding a boy with black hair and doe eyes, who looked like he had escaped from an insane asylum or hadn't slept at night. He was probably preparing for an exam.' After which I continued with my work while the person in charge was still scolding him for the way he was sitting while the student ignored him.
I had almost finished all my work and started filling out the paper with the answers until I heard, "What nonsense, they couldn't have given us an easier test." along with footsteps that were echoing in the hall, moving towards the front desk. A tall girl with long bright red hair, sharp features and a stunning figure was submitting the test to the supervisor who was surprised how she managed to complete the test so quickly. Before leaving, she turned to us and with a partially indifferent look in her bright emerald eyes said. "Good luck guys." and with that she just disappeared from the classroom. She seemed familiar to me somehow, but it was most likely when we were signing up for the test. I had to admit she was quite attractive unlike the other girls I met and if she got everything right pass the test with her self-confidence meant one of two things. One was that she must be an undercover cop working for L and come to keep an eye on me, or that she was an intellectual individual who might be of some use and help me find L. But first I'll need her name and to see how she feels about Kira.
Soon I ended up with the odd student 162 and headed for the exit to see if I could catch that girl who had left earlier. On my unfortunately there was no sign of her which was to be expected as no one wants to stay here longer than necessary. For a couple of days I have been trying to find out how far the investigation into the Kira case has progressed, it seems that the halls have come to their senses and stopped uploading information to their system knowing that the information is leaking. Of course, after the agents scandal, it took them a long time to delete the whole case as if it didn't even exist in the database, so I don't have to worry about them checking my dad's computer. It just meant that I had to switch to another tactic, which was to somehow manage to get closer with the help of my father, maybe even join the investigation. Of course being seen as suspicious could work to my advantage if I play my cards right.
Since I couldn't find anything I went to my email to see if I had any information from the university and my test result. As expected they already sent notifications and as expected I had a perfect result. In addition to the results, I received a notification to prepare a speech to be given by all the other freshmen along with two others who also won a perfect score. This piqued my curiosity a bit as did the image of that girl who was the first to leave the room complaining about how easy the test was. I liked her self-confidence and the fact that she doesn't hesitate to do what she wants, and you could see from a distance how strong her character is. She would be the perfect partner if it turned out that she agreed with Kira's verdict.
Ryuzaki's POV
A notification appeared on my computer about the results of the exam as well as a notification that I would have to give a speech. As I received the email, I asked Watari to provide me with a list of results with the names of all the other students who took the exam that day as well as basic information about them. From the Task Force, Ukita, Mogi and Matsuda were present along with Naomi who was trying to somehow find another clue among the victims that Kira had been killing lately. After a while Watari came back with all the data he could find and according to it there were three of us who managed to win a perfect score. Beside me there was Light Yagami as well as an unusual red haired girl who quickly finished her test. Of course I agreed with her that the test was too easy but something told me that I should pay attention to her so I looked her up on the list and found her name. "Tenshi Fukumoto." This surprised me quite a bit since I didn't expect to meet her so soon.
From what I could tell at first glance, she works fast, well and doesn't waste time on easy things or put in much effort to hide her displeasure that she just meant being direct. One would think she was very arrogant the way she spoke to the others when she lashed out as well as having a big ego when in fact she was being realistic about her abilities and knew she was one of the smartest out there. Besides Also the description given by Naomi as well as the sketch matched her appearance except for the hair and eyes which could very easily have been a mask or the mask was when she met Naomi. It was a pretty smart move considering she suspects Light being Kira and he needs a face and a name to kill he couldn't do anything to her right now. Also the likelihood that her name was real was very low which overall would indicate that she was either an experienced detective for some time or that he was a very smart and careful player who would was very helpful in the investigation. Also on second thought she was able to find us quickly and bring Naomi here without leaving any trace so she could help us locate Kira as well as track him.
In the files, she also wrote a German email address through which we could contact her, but also the question of whether it is fake or real. Either way it was worth the risk. The next moment I felt a weight on one of my loose shoulders and I knew instantly that Kei had come home with another shot of tracking Light. Kei did her part very well afterwards, following almost every step he took except when he was inside the house, which I also forbade her to do, because it would raise suspicions for the cat to sneak into a fully locked and secured room. I removed the necklace from her neck and started transferring the video to my computer, which, like the previous one, was in remarkably good condition. ,, Great job Kei as always." and then I patted her head.
The others then turned to me and Kei who was calmly sitting on my shoulders looking at the computer. "Oh, our Kei is back." Watari commented in a warm voice as he walked into the room with a strawberry shortcake for everyone along the way closing the window that had been open most of the time. The others came over looking at the video she took and most of the things were the same as in the previous videos except for a few small things. Light bought a large amount of apples almost every day, regularly visited the police department to deliver things necessary for his father to be out of the house for a few days, as well as always asking about the case and missing persons. It's like he was expecting a wanted post for someone, and my guess would be Naomi and Tenshi who met him that day. Another message that Kira sent me is in my mind,, L, do you know that shinigami like apples?,, Of course, shinigami don't exist, so it seems that he wanted to play with me and give me some clue assuming that I won't find out about it something. ,, Kei is quite talented at tracking people. Like a real spy."
Matsuda commented as Ukita smacked him on the head to stop him from talking nonsense and only making an even bigger fool of himself. "Of course he won't notice her, cats are great sneaks by nature and even if he saw her, she wouldn't attract any suspect because in most cases when he goes out carrying a carrier a normal person would think she is following him for food." Naomi explained to them as Kei nodded agreeing with her theory and showing a slight pride in her work. When Watari gave everyone the cake Keiko was looking directly at my plate or rather at the strawberry that was on top of the slice. Then it struck me that Kei has been going out for the last couple of days without eating her breakfast and that she eats very little when she comes back, which Watari had complained about a couple of times and worried that she wasn't sick. I picked up a strawberry with my fingers and offered it to Kei who gobbled it down like it was nothing while the others commented on how cute she was. ,, Hey Kei. You can have my strawberry too if you want." Matsuda spoke in a sweet voice dropping a slice of strawberry cake on the table not far from us but Kei didn't move from my shoulders ignoring him completely.
Often Matsuda would try to get close to Kei but she constantly pushed him away. Avoided him. He tried to take her in his arms a couple of times, but she scratched every time, leaving a scar from the last time as well. The closest was with Watari, who cared for her the most, with Naomi, especially when she starts to think and likes to have Kei on her lap with that and me. Although it was mostly just looking at the evidence, I got into the habit of asking her if she agreed with my theory or not, and if she didn't it was interesting to find out why. ,, Why Kei hates me?" he wailed and the answer to the question was so obvious that everyone was scratching their heads not knowing what to do with Matsuda. Watari came to us again with a bowl full of berries and another with plenty of milk and placed it on the table not far from my plate. Kei jumped on the table and first waited for Watari to caress her head and then started vacuuming the food as if she hadn't eaten in years.
"Our Kei doesn't hate anyone, she just doesn't like anyone touching her too much that's all." Watari commented as Kei nodded and then went back to her food. I was glad to see that she hadn't lost her appetite so she most likely wasn't sick but was quite dedicated to her task. I took the paper on which the information about Tenshi was written and called Kei to come to me again. Without hesitation, Kei jumped on my shoulders and began to look at the information about our mysterious helper. ,, What you think, is worth trying." I asked her and she nodded and settled comfortably on my shoulders where she stayed for the rest of the evening.
