Dinner with the grandparents.
Tonight was the night, Rory and Logan were going to Friday night dinner together as a married couple. Even though Rory's grandparents knew about their relationship now, both Rory and Logan were still nervous. They were going to start the planning of their Wedding reception that Rory's grandparents wanted to throw them, since they were not at the wedding.
The night before Rory and Logan had written a list of people that they wanted to invite. On the list were the gang from LDB, people from their college years, a few of Rory's work friends, Logan's work friends, also Logan's sister and brother inlaw. Rory's other grandparent Francine, a lot of Stars Hollow locals. Also on the list were people whom they would not invite, Logan's parents was so far the only two names on that list so far.
They had also agreed to listen to the names that Emily and Richard wanted to invite, as long as Logan's parents would remain uninvited.
Now onto the new chapter.
"Are you almost ready Ace?" Logan asked while straightening his tie.
"Yeah, almost. Could you help me with my zipper?" Rory answered.
"Of course dear." Logan told her while walking over to Rory and pulling up the zipper.
"Are you ready for tonight?" Rory asked.
"I think so, even though your grandparents know, I'm still nervous." Logan answered.
"I know, I'm nervous too. But tonight we will focus on planning our wedding reception that grandma wants to throw us. And we have our list, and grandma and grandpa has agreed not to invite your parents. I know grandma and grandpa agree, since they are not happy with how your parents has handled this whole situation." Rory told him while pulling on her shoes.
"Believe me I'm not at all happy with my parents on how they told Emily and Richard. They should have left that to us." Logan told her while putting on his jacket.
"What's done is done." Rory told him while grabbing her purse before opening the front door.
"Yeah, you're right Ace. Let's just get this over with." Logan told her while grabbing the car keys.
"Yeah, the sooner we get this dinner over with, the sooner we can get our reception out of the way." Rory told him.
They shared a kiss before walking out of their room at the Inn, and made their way down to the car.
"Who's driving?" Logan asked.
"You could if you want?" Rory answered.
"I'll drive, I need the distraction." Logan told her while unlocking the car.
"I'll text mom, to let them know that we're leaving now."
She grabbed her phone out of her purse.
"Hey, we're leaving now. I'll see you at grandma and grandpas?" - Rory.
"Great, we'll see you there. How's Logan holding up?" - Lorelai.
"He's pissed at his parents, but in a way I'm not really surprised that they did it. I really hope grandma and grandpa accept that we do not want Mitchum and Shira there." - Rory.
"I'm sure they'll accept that, you have told them about it. And besides they weren't really happy with the way they found out you were married. - Lorelai.
"I really hope so, for Logan's sake. Mitchum has been calling and calling him, he just can't take the hint, that Logan really wants nothing to do with him." - Rory.
"Well hopefully he'll realize that soon. You just keep Logan away from them at least while you're still on vacation. For his own sake, I hate the way his parents treats him." - Lorelai.
"Me too mom, they just keep pulling him further and further down. He is really struggling mom." - Rory.
"The important thing is that you're there for him, and that you support him. He needs you Rory. - Lorelai.
"I know mom, I'm trying. We're almost at grandma and grandpas, I'll see you soon."Rory.
She put down the phone again and looked at Logan.
"Hey Logan? Where are your thoughts at?" Rory asked him.
"I really don't know Ace. I think I should push forward my appointment with my therapist. I'm really struggling right now Rory." Logan answered her while blinking away his tears.
"Oh Logan, I really hate your parents for treating you this way. If it gets to much, you just tell me. Promise me Logan." Rory asked him while reaching her hand over to Logan's side of the car.
"I promise Ace." Logan told her while grabbing her hand.
"I'm worried about you Logan." Rory confessed.
"I know Ace, but I promise I'm getting help and I promise I'll try to come to you."Logan promised her.
"I know you will Logan, and I promise you I will always be here for you no matter what." Rory promised him.
A few minutes later they pulled up to Emily and Richard's house.
"Logan, we are going through this together. I promise you." Rory told him when she noticed his face expression.
"Yeah, I know. I just need to pull myself together."
"Hey, you take as long as you need. We're not going inside before you want."
"Thank you." Logan said while closing his eyes.
"I'm gonna take your hand and you are going to take a few deep breaths with me."Rory instructed him while guiding his hand towards her chest.
As soon as Rory placed his hand on her chest, Logan began taking deep breaths.
"That's great Logan, in and out." Rory guided him.
They continued to take deep breaths together for a few more minutes until Logan had calmed down.
"Better baby?" Rory asked while continued to hold Logan's hand on her chest."
"Mmm a little, you helped a lot Ace." Logan answered while opening his eyes and looked over at Rory.
"I will always help you. For better or for worse, always."
"Thank you." Logan thanked her again while leaning in for a kiss.
"I love you so much." Rory told him while returning the kiss.
"I love you too." Logan told her.
They sat in the car for another few minutes before getting out of the car. Just as they had gotten out of the car, Lorelai and Christopher pulled up behind them.
"Hey you two." Lorelai greeted them.
Hi mom, dad." Rory greeted them while hugging them both.
"Hello, Logan. How are you son?" Christopher asked while shaking Logan's hand.
"I'm great Christopher, happy to be getting this over with." Logan answered honestly.
"Yeah, I agree with you. Finally Emily and Richard knows." Christopher agreed.
Once they had all said their hello's to each other, they walked towards the door and rung the doorbell. It didn't take long before the door opened and they were greeted by the maid.
They all walked into the entrance way, and took of their coats before handing their coats to the maid, and then they were greeted by Emily and Richard.
"Hello everyone." Emily greeted them while hugging Rory first, then Lorelai then Logan and Christopher.
They all said their hello's and then walked into the livingroom where they were served drinks.
"What is everyone having?" Richard asked while standing by the bar cart.
"I'll have a club soda." Rory answered.
"I'll have a scotch." Logan said.
"White wine for me dad." Lorelai said.
"I'll have a scotch Richard." Christopher said.
"I'll have a Vodka martini." Emily answered.
"While Richard were getting all the drinks together, Emily began talking about Rory and Logan's wedding reception.
"Now I assume you wrote a list together on who you'd like to invite?" Emily asked.
"Yes, we did, but before we get further, me and Logan want you to know that under no circumstances Mitchum and Shira are not to be invited. Anyone else is fine, but we do not want to invite Logan's parents." Rory told Emily while grabbing Logan's hand.
"We can agree to that, can't we Emily?" Richard said while handing Emily's drink to her.
"Yes, we can. After all it is your reception and if you don't want to invite Mitchum and Shira then that is up to you and we will accept that." Emily agreed.
"Thank you Emily, Richard. Mom and dad never approved of our relationship, and they never treated Rory well." Logan told Emily and Richard.
"We very well remember the time in collage, how badly Mitchum treated Rory."Richard said while sitting down in one of the armchairs.
"Thank you, we really appreciate it." Logan thanked them.
"Now, that we've agreed to that, where would you like to have the reception?" Emily asked.
"What about the hall where you and grandpa had your wedding renewal?" Rory suggested.
"That's a great ideé." Emily said.
"The wedding reception, where we first kissed? You really are sentimental Ace."Logan told Rory while kissing her on the cheek.
"You remember that huh?" Rory asked while smiling.
"How could I forget?" Logan laughed.
"Remember how angry you got?" Lorelai asked Christopher.
"Yeah I do, not one of my proudest moments." Christopher confessed.
"I thought you were going to break down the door, if mom hadn't stopped you." Rory told him.
"It wasn't easy to calm you down, but you came around." Lorelai told Christopher while grabbing his hand.
"Yeah I did. You convinced me to calm down." Christopher told her.
They sat in the living room a little while longer before Emily announced that dinner was being served in the dining room. They all walked into the dining room and sat down.
"Here Ace, let me." Logan said while pulling out Rory's chair for her.
"Always such a gentleman." Rory told him, and thanked him with a kiss on the cheek.
"What can I say, I love you." Logan told her while taking the seat beside her.
"I love you too." Rory told him.
"Hey, you two newlyweds, we're here too." Lorelai joked.
"Sorry mom." Rory apologized with a smile.
"Now let's decide on a date, which dates works best for you?" Emily asked Rory and Logan.
"Let's see, May 5th? In four weeks?" Logan suggested.
"May 5th works for me too." Rory agreed.
"May 5th it is then, I'll book the hall on monday, I'm sure it's available." Emily told them.
"I'll give you the list of people we'd like to invite, their addresses are on there too."Rory told her grandparents.
"Great, I'll take care of the invitations, the food and everything else." Emily announced.
"There is just a few songs, we'd like to have on at the reception." Rory told Emily.
"Of course dear, after all it's your reception." Emily told her.
"We really appreciate this grandma, grandpa." Rory told her grandparents.
After having discussed most of the reception plans, they all started talking about everything else that were going on in each others life.
A few hours later, Lorelai and Christopher decided to leave. After they had left, Logan and Richard went into Richard's office to have a cigar together.
While they were in Richard's office, Rory decided to take the opportunity to talk to Emily about a surprise, she wanted to surprise Logan with.
"I'd really like to give him a groom's cake, something signifying something special to us both." Rory told Emily.
"Of course Rory, what did you have in mind?" Emily asked while handing her a club soda.
"I was thinking of doing a cake with the picture of when Logan and I jumped of the tower on our first LDBD event. I was thinking of asking Sookie to bake it." Rory answered.
"That sounds like a wonderful idea. I'm sure he'll like it." Emily said.
"I really hope so." Rory told her.
"Before I forget, you mentioned you wanted to add a few songs to the music list."Emily reminded her.
"Yes, right. I have a few songs that are special to us." Rory said.

"You belong with me" Taylor Swift.
"Moon river"
"To be with You" Suite 16.
"I'll add them to the list and if there is anything more you just let me know." Emily told her.
"I will grandma." Rory told her.
A while later Richard and Logan came out from Richard's office.
"You ready to go Ace?" Logan asked her.
"I'm ready if you are." Rory answered.
"I am."
"Then let's go back to Stars Hollow." Rory said, looking at Logan and seeing how tired he was.
"I'll call you tomorrow grandma. Thank you for tonight." Rory thanked them.
"Of course Rory, it's our pleasure." Emily told her.
They said their goodbye's and then they walked out to the car.
Rory reached into Logan's jacket pocket and grabbed the car keys.
"I'll drive, you have been drinking besides I can see it on you how tired you are." Rory told him while kissing his cheek.
"You're right, I'm really tired. This evening took more out of me then I had expected it to do." Logan confessed.
"I know you Logan, you reach a certain point and then you just need to sleep." Rory told him while unlocking the car.
They both got into the car, and began the drive home to Stars Hollow. Not long after Rory had started driving, Logan fell asleep.
When Rory noticed Logan had fallen asleep, she allowed herself to cry. She hated the way Mitchum and Shira treated him, telling him he were weak, pathetic and worthless. Not good enough, not worth being a Huntzberger. Always criticizing him. And she knew what that did to him.
She knew he had a hard time showing how he really felt, afraid of being called weak.
How difficult it had been for him to open up to her when they were dating, why he had cheated on her, when they had been on a break, which he had thought had been a break up.
He had told her what he had been going through during those years that they had been broken up.
How long it had taken him to accept that he needed help, how much he had hated himself.
She had vowed to herself to always protect him, never letting his parents hurt him ever again, never letting them push him down again.
She would never let anyone hurt him again. She needed to help him to heal again, to be the Logan he had been before.
It's been a while but I'm finally back again!
