The life of Sesshomaru and Rykotsu (a.k.a. Rin)
Chapter 6
Rin POV
At the break of dawn, when the sunlight kissed my closed eyes as started awaken. The manor almost seemed alive, creaking and shifting softly to accomadate the weight of its occupants. One of the fishes in the pond made a ripple as it came to the surface momentarily and a bird fluttered outside, settling on a cheery tree outside the window. There were footsteps below me as our handful of servants were already awake and cooking and going about their out duties. There was even a faint, soothing rhythm very close by, like a deep and unstoppable drum muffled by layers of clothing.
Suddenly, a dark figure blocked the sun from eyes. My eyes shot open, only to look at the demon I had admired since I was a child. The demon with hair like the moon and eyes like the sun. The demon they all call...Sesshomaru. WHAT? SESSHOMARU? IN MY CHAMBER?! By instinct, I pulled my blanket up to cover my chest, even though I was wearing my night wear. Sesshomaru gave a confused look. I sighed and relaxed.
"You gave me a fright, Sesshomaru-sama," I said, jokingly.
"Is that so?" he replied with a smirk.
I nodded and stood up to wrap my blanket around me like long, black cloak.
"So what business do you have in my chamber?" I enquired.
" I came her for the festival," he replied.
Oh he was here for the festival. I smiled. I'm glad he came.
"Well, the Royal Paladins that arrive for the festival are greeted at the front entrance, not in my chamber!" I exclaimed. Not that I'm complaining.
"I arrived way before down and come to ask you were it is that I must go," he stated, emotionlessly.
Has he never been here? Come to think of it he ha never made an appearance since I was a pup. No wonder he arrived before dawn. Wait. Has he been just standing there watching me sleep? A small chuckle escaped my mouth.
"Are you mocking me?" he said, with a slight tone of anger.
"No! No, not at all. I just remembered how you haven't come here before," I said, smiling softly.
"Hn."
There was slight pause before I decided to say: "Well, since your here...why don't you help me pick out an attire for this morning."
I motioned him to follow me, as I strode towards two massive wooden doors with extravagant golden flowery patterns, each flower containing a diamond in the centre.
"Is this your armoury?" asked Sesshomaru confidently.
"Yes, indeed. However, you could probably smell the spell cast on it. This not only my armoury but my closet as well." I said, before clicking my fingers to reveal a much larger room with hundreds of kimonos neatly hanged on a large semi-circular wardrobe on both wall. Between these stood a massive glass window, which also covered the entirety of the wall. In the centre of the room there were two large leather sofas; a carpet below both of them and a black glass table in the centre.
"I presume this is your private hideout as well," stated Sesshomaru and I nodded. This was the only room I was free to be a women. I often spend most of my time here with my mother when I was younger learning basic etiquette. His eyes skimmed across the first wardrobe and then the next before stopping and frowning.
"Is there something wrong?" I enquired.
Sesshomaru lifted his long, sharp claws to one of the elaborate kimonos. My eyes widened. Oh no! Those are my womanly kimonos!
"Why do you have them?" I heard him say in a deep voice.
What must I say? They are for my future mate? No. Yes. Maybe. "They are kimonos brought for my future mate, my mother's collection to be fair."
"They hold a sweet scent," said Sesshomaru, clearly not realising what he had said, so engrossed in the beauty of the kimonos. I blushed slightly. He thinks that I smell good!
Later Master Sesshomaru and I walked out of my chamber, only to meet the eyes of servants who gaped in bewilderment before rushing away quickly.
I chuckled and explained,"I think they had the wrong idea."
Sesshomaru nodded in agreement as he walked towards the end of the corridor. I glanced at my reflection in the windows I passed in the extensive hallway.
He had picked me a white silk kimono with a black and red patterned hem that was about 2 inches wide. Above my waist an a thin obi was wrapped around that had yellow on the top half and the same black and red pattern on the bottom half. My hakama also held the same pattern but most elaborated in the middle third of the front section, with yellow rims. At my waist, my red sheath was tied tightly containing my polished katana, Akuta. He also picked out a shiny metal breastplate to accompany my outfit. Somehow, the fact that my outfit held the same colours as Sesshomaru's, made me have a strange feeling in my chest.
'What is this? Is this Rin catching feelings for this fine Daiyokai. How sweet.' my yokai said happily.
You know very well that it doesn't matter. He will never accept me a 'man' as his mate. We can never be together.
'But you could if you told him the truth.'
I stopped and thought for a second. Hearing me stop, Sesshomaru had come to a halt. "What is in your mind, Ryokotsu?"
"Well, I was wondering...The festival doesn't begin till noon."
"So?" he asked, clearly trying to making his curiosity.
"After breakfast, could I take you on a tour around the Southern Lands? I believe you haven't seen these lands for a while now." I suggested slowly. Please say yes. Please say yes.
"Hn."
"I'll talk that as a yes then." I smiled excitedly.
