Yuta's pov

Wrath's attacks were relentless forcing Yuta to take a more defensive approach. The jujutsu sorcerer could only parry or blocks the claw swipes as he tried to create some distance. 'Damn it. I need a few minutes before my cursed energy settles down, but this curse is too much. ' Yuta thought as he slipped under Wrath's next attack.

[Slow]

Yuta started running under the curse's legs, but before he could make his way to Wrath's back, the summon quickly jumped backward and attacked with its tail forcing the fight to reset back into the previous conditions. 'Even though he's not using magic, he has some resistance to it. What an interesting phenomenon, cursed energy... still, his movements are a lot more sluggish than before.' Demiurge, who was watching the fight from afar, thought as he sent out another mental command.

'Enough with the physical combat, switch to long-range magic attacks. Don't let him rest, thought... ' Demiurge ordered his evil lord who immediately took flight.

[Flamewing]

Wrath's wings seemed to change from flesh to pure fire not only buffing the passive Fiery Aura but also giving a significant buff to all his fire spells. 'What is this?! It suddenly became too- ' Yuta thought as he felt a great amount of heat burning his body. It was so much that even while using a cloak of cursed energy around his body, Yuta movement's became a lot slower.

'It seems like he's struggling already? Hm...' Demiurge thought as he scratched his chin. The Guardian watched as Yuta tried to cover himself with a thicker layer of cursed energy to fight off the heat.

[Hellflame]

The Wrath sent a small flame which quickly began to pursue the jujutsu sorcerer. 'That's... ' Yuta didn't know what that cursed technique was, but once he saw the speed at which it moved, the amount of cursed energy it carried, and the fact that it was moving after him, he quickly understood it was a very powerful attack.

Demiurge's neutral expression turned into a sadistic one. As he watched the jujutsu sorcerer finally gather enough power to stand up properly and try to run away, a smile began to form on his face. 'There's no more need to hold back the layer's debuff, right? Let's see how well he can take it. ' Demiurge thought right before he turned the debuff online.

The heat increased even further than before. Yuta's lips started cracking and the moister from his eyes started to evaporate forcing him to blink several times while making his escape. 'This is not from that curse. I didn't have a specific origin point. It felt like it came from... the domain itself.' Yuta thought as he jumped down a small cliff leading to where he saw Demiurge flying.

'Ho ho. So the debuff can even bypass the cursed energy. Good. ' Demiurge thought as he saw Yuta's sweat evaporating into steam even while being protected behind the cursed energy cloak.

'There's probably nowhere to rest in this layer. The heat is forcing me to use my cursed energy only to survive so wasting my time is most likely the guardian's plan. ' Yuta thought as he jumped over the stones as fast as he could.

Wrath continued flying ahead and soon after passing Yuta, it turned around.

[Widen Magic: Napalm]

The spell spread even more fire in a huge cone right in front of Yuta, who had no other choice, but to run backward. 'He's trying to cut me off. Think, think. What do I do? How do I beat this Domain? How do I beat the guardian?! Wait... the guardian. ' Yuta thought as his cursed energy finally returned to normal.

[Rita]

Yuta called out to his late girl. The black ball of fire was slowly closing in front of him while a huge amount of fire was doing the same but on his back. He needed an extra pair of hands to deal with both of them.

[Greater Re-]

'I want it alive, Wrath. Keep pushing him until he drops tired. ' Demiurge ordered the Wrath who immediately stopped the casting of his spell. "Understood, Lord Demiurge." The Hellflame disappeared right after the order was received making it obvious to Yuta what their intentions were.

'So they want me to turn back so I use up my cursed energy! It's as I thought, the guardian must be weak to direct attacks. ' Yuta thought as he turned around and ran straight toward the fire.

'Let him continue towards me. I have other units waiting to capture him ahead. ' Demiruge continued his orders making the Wrath stop for a moment.

That was the opportunity Yuta hoped for. With the bost of cursed energy he got from summoning Rita, he could easily slash a path through the flames and force his way.

Yuta emerged on the other side of the flames and without hesitation, he continued running after Demiurge. Wrath continued throwing fire magic along the way, but none of them were that powerful. 'He should be just beyond that mountain. ' Yuta thought as he started climbing the mountain.

[Astral Smite]

Wrath's next attack was completely different from before. Instead of a fire-like cursed technique, it looked more like a pure cursed energy strike, not only that, but it was now targetting Rita.

Rita got hit with the spell but didn't disappear. The damage only caused a delay to her, but soon after she was able to grab Yuta and threw him upwards to dodge another fire attack.

Just like Yuta had planned, they quickly climbed the mountain just like he imagined. The guardian was already in sight. Demiurge was sitting down on a chair that floated on a small plot of land inside a wide lava lake. 'There he is. ' Yuta thought as he continued charging straight ahead.

Yuta didn't waste any time in his pursuit as he quickly jumped on top of Rita and started using her as a hoverboard. "Demiurge! " Yuta screamed trying to make it look like he was going all in.

'I know there's some trap there right? Or maybe you're not even the real Demiurge? Maybe you're not even the real guardian? Whatever the right answer is though, you're bound to show your hand as soon as I leave the land. So do it! I will cut them down right away and exorcise you. ' Yuta thought as he left the "safety" of land and entered the airspace of the lake.

'Is going for it or not... Grunt, wait until he's further in than planned. ' Demiurge gave another order before he stood up.

"I can't believe you would just jump after me like that. Are you sure you don't want some extra time to recover? " Demiurge asked with a tone full of sarcasm. Both of them knew that, if Yuta tried to bide his time like that, he would only increase the probability of losing. 'Don't attack him yet. Fly closer and catch him should he try to force it.' Demiurge ordered Wrath who immediately started flying right behind Yuta.

Ever since he lost the initiative and prematurely used his Domain, Yuta was stuck in the offensive. If he backed off, he would only tire himself out. 'It has to be now. ' Yuta thought as he flew a few centimeters from the lava.

"Yuta... argggggg..." Rita started screaming as the lava's heat slowly choked her from the inside out. While she was more resistant to it, thanks to being a curse, she would soon perish.

'Hold on just a bit longer, Rita. We're almost there. ' Yuta thought as he noticed the curse flying right behind him. 'So that thing's going to strike at me right before I get to you? That's the plan?! '

Yuta was now just a few meters away from Demiruge, but of course, something came up. He knew that the lake was a trap all along, but Yuta couldn't believe what he was seeing. A piece of the lava itself jumped from the lake and blocked the path forward.

"Is this a curse?! How can it be even more powerful than the monster behind me! " Yuta's eyes widened when the path to his target was suddenly blocked forcing him to stop for a moment.

[Wall of Hell]

Wrath took that chance to trap the jujutsu sorcerer in a ring of fire. The lava that jumped out took the shape of a blob of fire and started moving toward the jujutsu sorcerer. "Rita, throw me. " Yuta said right before forcing a lot of his cursed energy through the sword and unleashing a powerful slash.

Yuta was able to cut a path through the curse allowing him to see the smug face Demiurge was making. 'How dare he... ' Yuta thought as Rita threw him toward the guardian.

'He's about to fall into the trap. Get the blade, Grunt. ' Demiurge order the lava smile who allowed Yuta free passage choosing to attack only the sword.

[Aspect of the Devil: Razor Sharp Claw]

Yuta's blade was caught by the curse and the sword was immediately held into place. 'Damn it! ' Yuta thought as he let go of the blade and continued on without it.

Demiurge opened his wings as if to welcome the challenger. With sharp-looking blades where his fingers should be, the guardian signaled that he was willing to take a more hands-on approach. 'He can change his body?! Does he have a similar cursed technique to Mahito? If so... I will have to use Domain Expansion right away and then... '

Unlike what he had thought, Demiurge took a few steps backward allowing Yuta to fall on the piece of land with no trouble. "There we go. Now there's no need for me to be here anymore. " Demiurge said as he started flying away.

"Wait... where the hell do you think you're going. Rita! " Yuta screamed as he needed to get a new weapon to pursue Demiurge. While Yuta was powerful, he didn't have a way to attack from long range, all of his techniques were locked behind either having a cursed tool or Rita.

Rita disappeared from where she was and would soon reappear right beside's Yuta. All he needed to do was grab a new weapon and the fight would resume. Even if Demiruge was to pull a few other curses from the lava and was able to create some distance, Yuta was confident that he would catch up and beat him within before Rita reached her limits.

[Greater Rejection]

Wrath quickly casted a spell that completely fucked Yuta. Right as Rita was appearing, a huge magical circle appeared around her, and then... she was gone. "Rita?! " Yuta said as he saw her disappear.

[Rita]

Once more, Yuta tried to summon Rita.

[Greater Rejection]

"I'm sorry, Yuta, but you're gonna have to fight by yourself for now. " Demiruge said as he started circling around him. "And now that you lost your item and your support summon. I wonder how long you're gonna last. " Demiurge said as he snapped his finger.

Wrath immediately started casting another spell while the slime quickly moved to cover any escape attempts. Another batch of lesser demons also appeared from seemingly out of nowhere leaving Yuta completely surrounded. "I'm investing quite a bit on this fight, so you gotta show me a least a few good moves before you lose. " Demiurge said right before he flew away once more.

Megumi's pov

Gargatua's temporary halt allowed him to create some extra space, but that didn't amount to much. The guardian began to march once more and unfortunately, its target was still the same. 'Come on. Let's get a move on Nobara! ' Megumi said as he quickly summoned the frog once more.

"Look at the size of that thing. It's gonna catch up in no time, it's useless Megumi. " Nobara said as they both made their way through the layer. With Gargatua quickly approaching their position, even the smallest and weakest curses would be big trouble.

That was one of the issues that the pair of jujutsu sorcerers ran into. Not only they had to deal with the guardian, but also the curses that lurked in the layer. Individually, they were not powerful at all, in fact, Megumi's cursed tools that he brought inside his shadows were capable enough to one-shot or at least two-shot all of them.

Every time they appeared though, it forced him to slow down. "Gojo should be fighting that thing already! Where is he?! " Megumi said as he finally reached the wall of the layer.

Now there was no way to escape, nowhere to run. Gargantua was just a few steps away and it showed no signs of changing its course. "Maybe he already did? How can we be sure that thing is the guardian? Maybe it's just here to keep anyone from staying too long. " Nobara said as she slowly started piecing things together.

"If that's the case, we have to find the exit or at least get to Hana. Maybe she can make that thing disappear or something. " Megumi said as he climbed the wall while searching for anything that looked like the exit.

"The lake? No... maybe the walls. No... where could it be?" Megumi glanced everywhere, but nothing matched the pattern that he saw up until now. The door was nowhere to be seen, that is until Gargantua entered his line of sight.

By accident, Megumi ended up glancing at the guardian's belly. He quickly recognized the shape of the guardian carved on what looked like a wooden door. "I think I found the exit. " Megumi screamed before he went down to Nobara.

"Good. You should run as fast as you can then. I'll stay here and try to buy some time. " Nobara said as she got out of the frog.

"What?! What are talking- "

Megumi started arguing, but Nobara quickly silenced him by saying, "That's the only way. You can't outrun the curse while carrying me. " Nobara said as she slowly made her way to the wall. "The exit, Hana, Gojo, anything you can think of won't work. The fact is... I- "

"NO! I refuse to let you here. " Megumi said as he turned to Gargantua.

"What?! Can't you see I'm trying to be considerate here?! You wanna die with me, that's what's up?! Megumi! I'm talking to you! Megumi! " Nobara screamed, but Megumi didn't care. He simply started walking toward the guardian.

"It's just a few steps away now. If you run, maybe it will choose to finish me off before going after you." Nobara said as the guardian stopped walking. Gargantua looked to the base of the wall, where its targets were standing, and started pulling back its gigantic arm.

"Megumi! It's going to attack now. Run. Run! Run! " Nobara said as tears started forming in her eyes. "I don't want to bring you with me. " Nobara said with a small voice.

Megumi saw as the guardian pulled back its arm and closed its fist. 'A punch, huh? ' Megumi thought as he glanced at Nobara.

"We're here to save Yuji, but I'm not gonna let you die when I can do something about it. " Megumi said as he turned back to Gargantua. He placed his arms in front of him and began chanting.

"What are you talking about... " Nobara stopped talking when she felt the sharp increase in Megumi's cursed energy levels.
