"How is this even possible, I'm not even on Poni Island, or near any island for that matter." Kiawe said as he and Charizard landed once more.
Charizard growled in confusion at this statement.
"We would have known if we flew that far, I've sent an alert to the Aether Foundation to come get us, but for the time being, we're stuck. I just wish I knew how exactly this happens." Kiawe sighed, sitting down.
Charizard looked down at his trainer with a level of concern on his face.
"Don't worry Charizard it's not your fault, I just wish I knew what my Grandfather meant when he said to ask the guardian. It's not exactly like I can just have a conversation with Tapu Fini, I don't even know where they are, we got lost looking for them." Kiawe sighed.
Charizard perked his head up as pink crystals fluttered to the ground around them.
"lelelelelele." A voice giggled.
"Who's there!?" Kiawe asked out loud.
"Lelelelelele!" The voice giggled again.
"I'm warning you, we aren't to be messed with!" Kiawe said, readying his Firium Z once more.
"Lele!" Tapu Lele exclaimed, flying right in front of Kiawe.
"Tapu Lele!" Kiawe exclaimed in shock. "Wait, do you know anything about Mega Evolution?"
"Le?" Tapu Lele said in confusion, looking at Kiawe's Keystone Necklace. "LeLe!"
"Of course… hey get back there with that!" Kiawe shouted, seeing Tapu Lele run off with it. "Charizard after her!" Kiawe said, hopping on the fire and flying type.
Charizard sped around the island, keeping an eye on Tapu Lele who seemed more interested in playing chase than leaving the island, until they reached the highest point of the island where she was simply waiting for them.
"Alright Tapu Lele, just hand over the keystone, and we'll leave, is that okay?" Kiawe asked, approaching slowly.
"Lele!" Tapu Lele called out, firing off an attack, as Charizard got in the way of it.
"Charizard!" Kiawe called out, as his trusted flier stood strong, giving him a nod.
"Alright, you want a battle, you've got it! Charizard use Flamethrower!" Kiawe called out.
Charizard took to the air, unleashing a flamethrower down on Tapu Lele who unleashed a frightening giggle as the makeshift battlefield was covered in a strange pink energy.
"Psychic Terrain, be careful, use Air Slash!" Kiawe called out.
Charizard flapped his wings from side to side, unleashing blades of air, knocking Tapu Lele backwards inch by inch.
"Dont let up, use Flamethrower again!"
Charizard flew around Tapu Lele unleashing yet another flamethrower, engulfing the island guardian for a few moments before the flames dispersed and Tapu Lele charged at Charizard, knocking it back to the ground.
"Charizard!" Kiawe called out.
Charizard got right back up, ready to go again, spitting some embers out at Tapu lele to show he wasn't going down that easily.
Tapu lele withdrew into her shell, shaking about wildly as she began to glow.
"This can't be good, I think that's the legendary move Professor Kukui is always going on about." Kiawe said.
Flashback
"Nature's Madness, a move only witnessed being used by the four Island Guardians, unleashing their full potential but also showing their restraint." Professor Kukui said.
"What do you mean by that Professor?" Ark asked.
"Nature's Madness will never knock out an opponent, rather it will bring them down to half of their current strength every time. It shows that the Guardians are both powerful and caring." Professor Kukui said.
Back in the present
"Charizard counter with Flamethrower!" Kiawe called out.
Charizard unleashed a burst stream of flames against Tapu Lele's pink beam, the beam quickly and rapidly overpowering the flames as two red beams shot out from Kiawe's bag, Turtonator and Marowak joining the attack with Flare Blitz and Fire Blast, pushing back Nature's Madness until it fizzled out.
"Turta!" Turtonator said proudly.
"MaroMaroMaroMaro!" Marowak cheered.
"Alright Charizard, we've got our opening, use Inferno Overdrive!" Kiawe called out, activating his Z Move.
Flames shot out of Charizard's mouth and tail striking Tapu Lele as the island guardian pushed the flames away with a little effort.
"We can keep this going as long as it takes, right guys!" Kiawe said, as his fire types nodded in agreement.
"Lele!" Tapu lele cheered flying around them, pink sparkles covering Kiawe and CHarizard, recovering any injuries they had sustained as a stone appeared on Charizard's harness. "Lele." Tapu Lele said, holding out Kiawe's Key Stone.
"I just needed to ask you this whole time." Kiawe said, putting the necklace back on. "How about it Charizard, ready to try this out?!"
"GRAH!" Charizard roared in agreement.
"Alright, then with the power of all of Akala Island and the fury of Wela Volcano, go above and beyond normal bonds of evolution, and Mega Evolve!" Kiawe called out.
The sun shone through the clouds as Charizard took to the sky in his new form, his wings now longer, along with fins on his arms, and a third horn on his head.
"Alright, now that's what I call powerful!" Kiawe cheered.
"Kiawe, we found you!" Lana called out, from the lower part of the small island.
"Lana!" Kiawe said in surprise, running down to her after returning his Pokemon.
"Oh thank Tapu you're alright, how'd you even get to Exeggutor Island?" Professor Kukui asked.
"It's going to sound weird but I think Tapu Fini sent me here to battle Tapu Lele." Kiawe said.
"You're right, that does sound weird, so did you get to battle Tapu Lele or ask Tapu Fini anything?" Professor Kukui asked.
"Yeah, I think we can consider this Grand Trial a Mega success." Kiawe said, thinking about Charizard's new form.

And there we have it, Kiawe and Charizard can finally Mega Evolve, it has been a long time coming it feels like, but we are in the home stretch and a lot of characters needed that last boost in power before it all comes to a head. They were simply the first of them.
