The life of Sesshomaru and Ryokotsu (a.k.a Rin)

Chapter 12
Rin/Ryokotsu POV

It has been about 3 days, since we have been sharing a room together. Even though, I seem to be having a heart attack whenever he enters the room, he just appears to be calm and collected. Of course, he is Master Sesshomaru himself. A man of great control and strength. A cold hearted demon. The ice prince, as they call him. A man who is more than out of reach, but sometimes I fell like I am melting through his ice. Well, that all stops when he is in this room with me. However, it had been odd how I could often smell him on my clothes despite being near me, making me conclude he has been doing something with them when I'm not here. I can't imagine Master Sesshomaru snooping around my stuff smelling it. It would be such a strange thought, so I chose to ignore it. I mean smelling like him isn't too bad, after all his manly scent is almost addicting, as it makes my youkai purr every time.

So far, things seem to be progressing very slowly. Although, the villagers think that I am Subaki's daughter, I often get those sceptical looks from those who pass by the Head Villager's house. I actually haven't been able to walk around and explore much, since even though the air lacked the smell of fear, I could clear smell the distrust among the villagers. At this rate we would barely get some answers to the problem at hand. However, I learned from some older villagers that the Lord sent his men on a weekly basis. They also explained that this only started once the new Lord took the position, but it seemed that this man actually sent many supplies and things to this village. I am almost in disbelief that this Lord is behind the actions back in our lands. He appears to be a nice man, who does not seek trouble, whose only flaw is the fact he goes after many women.

I was brought out of my thoughts when I saw a man carrying a rice sack fell to the ground. I rushed to his side and offered a hand.

"Are you alright, sir?" I asked him, as he looked up in disbelief and reluctantly took my hand. Once pulling him up, I picked up the rice sack and swung it over my shoulder as it was as light as a feather for me. Of course, I earned a few gasps from the other villagers, but ignored it by asking: "Where would you like me to put this?"

"I will do it myself," the man stated, slightly angrily.

"Sir, you are sick. Why must you do such hard work?" I asked. He relaxed a little.

"Because I have a family to feed. Also, I have to carry all those sacks over there into this wagon, so if you may excuse me I have work to attend to," he said, before coughing roughly into his sleeve.

"Sir, please have a rest. I will assist you with this," I suggested, expressing my clear worry. This man is very sick and weak, if he works any longer in this heat he would collapse.

"I can't pay you your wages, young lady," he said, sighing loudly.

"I do not need money sir. I simply want to help you," I explained.

"If you insist," he responded, taking a seat on a nearby rock.

Happily, I tossed the sack into the wagon and continued to pick up and toss the large pile that covered almost an entire wall within a mere 10 minutes.

"I'm done," I announced. The man turned to look at the now empty the garage, then at the overfilled wagon and then at me in disbelief.

"How did you complete that so fast?! That takes me almost half a day to finish!" he exclaimed.

"I have trained lifting weights in the demon lord's palace, sir," I lied.

"That is rather impressive for a woman," another villager stated from behind us.

"Now, now. I must deliver this to the market," the man said, before standing up and wiping the sweat of his forehead.

He moved to the wagon and attempted to pull it, but was unable to move it.

"May I assist you?" came a deep voice. Sesshomaru?

"You must be the demon lord everyone has been talking about," said a young woman in her twenties, a blush grazing her face as she looked at Sesshomaru. How dare she look at him with such desire? I frowned slightly.

"Hn," he replied as he took the wagon out of the man's arms and pulled it easily.

"What is your name, handsome?" the girl asked.

Sesshomaru gave her a short glare before turning towards me. "Rin, bring the man with you and follow me."

Obediently, I followed his orders and followed behind Sesshomaru with the sickly man. We arrived in the mini town half an hour later and unloaded the wagon for the poor man. While, we were doing so we heard the owner of the shop say to the man: "Ey, Kenji-san aren't you lucky getting a young couple as your helpers today." At this me and Sesshomaru looked at each other and turned away blushing slightly. I never thought we looked like a couple. Ok... I mean it's not like the thought has not been through my mind a couple dozen times because of the constant pestering of my youkai whenever I'm near him, but we all know that they is no way this Rin can ever be with such a God like Sesshomaru. Soon after the man thanked us and handed each of us a flower, named Freesia. Freesia the ultimate flower of trust. Although, this offering brought me great joy, the thought of never being able to be with Sesshomaru made my heart feel heavy.

Sesshomaru POV

As I walked back through the town, beside Rin, I couldn't help but be irritated by Rin's distress. Why was she so upset?

"We made our mate upset."

We did? The thought me feel slightly worried, as Rin seems to be masking her worry with her sweet smile.

"Have you forgotten you haven't given any attention to our mate for the past 3 days?"

No I have not but it is our only way to stop me from pouncing on her.

"You can not do this forever. You will only upset our mate further."

I sighed, giving up arguing with my youkai. It was right. I can't ignore Rin forever, even though he was really a man.

"Rin...what is it that upsets you?" I asked, pretending not to care.

"It's nothing Sesshomaru. I'm simply missing my family," she replied. Although, it was a lie I could smell some truth in it.

"Hn. Considering you did not even get to spend time with them, I understand," I said. Even though, I did not like my own family that much, I did appreciate them. Father had always did the right thing for me and Izayoi had been there where my mother wasn't, although I can never see her as an equal to my mother, Inukumi. I did despise Inuyasha, only because Father always gave more attention to him, but I could never get myself to harm him. I did not mind Tamae either, although I only see her occasionally due to the 1st rule.

"I wish I could have," she whispered, getting even more upset. What does Father do when Izayoi is like this? Oh yes...hug her. I must hug her. I grabbed her by the arm and pulled her into my chest. Almost immediately, I felt her mood lighten and her become happy once again. Unintentionally, a small smile graced my face, that was before I heard it.

"What you doing, Mischer?" a small voice came from below us, making us pull away quickly. Instantly, I felt annoyed missing the warmth of Rin. However, the look on Rin said the opposite. She smiled down at the creature. I hate to admit it but the creature was pretty cute. Is this what they call a human pup?

"Oh sorry about that, honey. What is your name?" she asked, happily.

"I am Ginnn-ji," the pup responded, shutting his eyes tightly like it was trying to remember it's own name.

"Oh hello Genji. I'm Rin. Nice to meet you," she informed the pup softly, a motherly expression on her face. As she picked it up and cradled it close to her chest, making Genji giggle and her smile to grow wider.

"She will make a great mother to our pups one day."

Hn. She will... The thought made me smile more. Wait! What?
