Pokemon406: Now, before I begin the chapter, I would like to say two things. The reason this chapter took so long will be revealed at the end. And I have an announcement but I'll save that for the end as well.

Shizuko didn't know what he was expecting when he and Nate went through the portal but he certainly wasn't expecting to end up in a jungle temple. He looked at their new surroundings to see they were in a small rundown room, the walls were gray, and the floor was square tiles. In front of them were three corridors on the left, right, and in front. Once he was done inspecting the room, he turned to his friend to talk about what to do next but saw he was gone. Alarmed, he looked around and saw he was heading to the left corridor. He quickly came over and got in front of him to stop him.
"Nate, where do you think you're going?"Shizuko questioned him.
"To find the kids,"Nate answered like it was obvious.
"Not yet. We got a few things to do first."Shizuko told him.
"Like what?"He asked in a confused tone.
"Like looking at what Kitsune gave us in the treasure bags,"Shizuko suggested.
"Oh, yeah! Let's do that first."Nate agreed, eagerly.
The two friends opened their treasure bags and checked what was in them. In their bags were food, water, two badges, and some strange-looking seeds. The badges were round and silver colored though it was to tell due to it being withered, and there were white wings on both sides.
"Explorer badges!"Shizuko recognized the badges from the mystery dungeon games."Judging by the color, she must have been platinum before she retired. She also had a partner it seems. I wonder who it was?"He thought before shaking his head and deciding to ask Kitsune later.
Shizuko turned his attention to the seeds and inspected each one. The first seed looked like an orange pinecone with sharp leaves at the top. The second one was brown, crescent-shaped, and wrapped in a purple cloth. One looked like a pink and white flower that has yet to bloom. Another looked like a two-tone orange snail shell with two leaves sticking out at the end. Finally, the last seed looked like a nut that was cracked open a little with a green sprout coming out.
"Why do these look familiar?"He thought then realized why they looked familiar is because they were the special seeds from the mystery dungeon games.
He looked over at his friend to say something only to pause at seeing him about to eat the crescent seed. He quickly snatched the seed out of his friend's hand getting a 'Hey!' and a look from him.
"Nate, why were you about to eat this?"Shizuko asked him, holding up the seed.
"I wanted to try the weird-looking bandana."He explained his reasoning.
"This isn't a bandana. It's a seed."
"It is? Doesn't look like one."He said, looking skeptical.
"Maybe not, but that doesn't mean you should put something weird in your mouth!"Shizuko countered and Nate rolled his eyes at this.
"Whatever. What do we do next?"He asked.
"Next, we come up with a plan on exploring this place."
Nate gave him a confused look."What's there to plan? We walk around for a bit, find the stairs to go to the next floor then keep doing that until we find them."He answered like it was obvious.
Shizuko nodded at this."Sounds good but I wanna add a couple of things. Walking around aimlessly isn't a good idea, so I suggest whenever we enter a new room one of us should scratch an x into the wall. So that we know that we've been there already."The Pikachu nodded, not having a problem with this.
"As for finding the kids, I think I have a way we can find them easier."Nate urged him to continue."I can use the aura ability, Aura-"He gets cut off by the Pikachu exclaiming.
"You can use aura! Since when?!"
"Recently,"Shizuko answered back."Besides, the only aura ability I can use at the moment is Aura Detection and my range isn't that great with it yet."
"Aura Detection?"Nate questioned, giving him a confused expression.
"Aura Detection is the ability to sense other people's aura,"He still looked confused."You remember that Pokemon movie with Lucario when he closed his eyes, everything turned to blue for him?"He nodded in response."That's Aura Detection."His friend gained a look of understanding after that.
"So, you are gonna use this aura detect thing to find what room they're in?"The Riolu nodded in response."Great! But, wait how are gonna know it's them and not the Dungeon Pokemon?"Nate asked.
"Well, I'm gonna assume that they're being kept in a room somewhere while the Husks are allowed to roam free. In other words, the ones I sense that are on the move are probably the Husks."Shizuko explained to him.
Nate nodded slowly."Okay, so can we finally leave or is there still something else we gonna do?"He asked.
"No, we can leave right after I do this,"Shizuko said before grabbing one of the spikes on the floor and going over to a wall. He used the spike carefully to scratch a tally mark into the wall.
Once he was done, they put their supplies back in their bags and then, after some thought about which corridor to go through, went into the one on the left. The corridor was long and narrow, narrow to the point that they had to walk single-file with Shizuko leading the way. As they walked through the corridor, Shizuko activated Aura Detection to see if there were any Husks nearby. When he only sensed his own and Nate's aura, he was relieved but kept his guard up.
After a bit of walking, they ended up in a room similar to the other one but there was only one corridor that leads anywhere besides the one they came through. They looked around the room for a bit to see if there was anything interesting. When they found none, Shizuko began to mark the room. While he was doing this, Nate was roaming the room seeing if they missed something when he stepped on a tile that made a strange sound. He paused at this and a moment later, yelped in surprise as he fell through a hole. Shizuko heard his friend yelp in surprise, he turned around to see his friend was gone. Shocked, he hastily looked around the room to see where he's gone and saw a hole in the floor.
He came over to the hole."Did he fall down here?"He gazed into it to see nothing but darkness. Before he could consider jumping into the hole, the hole quickly closed."Great, now I have to find Nate too."He thought with a sigh before he made his way through the new corridor.

Elsewhere in the mystery dungeon, a certain Pikachu groaned from his place on the floor."Stupid hole in the floor."He muttered as he picked himself up.
"Where am I?"Nate asked as he looked at his new surroundings. He was in a room similar to the one he was previously in but there were vines on the walls and one corridor."Did I get sent back to spawn? No, there weren't vines at the beginning and more than one tunnel, so I'm in a different part of the dungeon."He assumed, noticing the differences.
"Cool! Maybe I'm closer to finding them than Shizuko!"He smiled at this."Just you wait Shizuko, I'll find them first then find you!"He said, making up his mind about what to do.
He was about to leave when he felt like he was forgetting to do something. He thought about it for a minute before shrugging and going through the tunnel. When he was halfway, the tunnel suddenly shook causing him to stop briefly to wonder what happened. He continued through the tunnel until he reached the end to see a surprising sight. Scattered across the floor knocked out were several Growlithe.
Growlithe is a quadrupedal Pokemon. They had orange fur with black stripes along their back and legs. The fur on their muzzle, chest, belly, and tail was beige, as is an additional tuft of fur on top of their head. Their noses were black and had triangular ears with beige interiors. Finally, their forepaws have two visible claws, while their hind paws have three toes each.
The canine Pokemon faded away, revealing themselves to be Husks. Nate wondered what took them out briefly, that is until he noticed the other occupant in the room was a certain red-brown weasel Pokemon.
"Why does that weasel look familiar?"Nate thought for a moment and realized why."It's that chick I thought was a dude from a week ago!"
Deciding right now wasn't the best time to talk with the fire type, he looked around the room for the nearest exit and saw two tunnels. He tried to tip-toe his way to the tunnel on the right but froze when he stepped on a broken piece of vine which made a sound. The Pikachu swirled his head over to the Quilava to see her ears twitch before she turned to look in his direction. They stared at each other for a moment before the Volcano Pokemon snarled at him.
"You!"
"Me!"
"I haven't forgotten about what you said!"
"You mean for mistaking you for a dude? I do for a lot of people."He said, nonchalantly."So, let's bygone be bygone. What do you say?"
"I say I'll think about…after I beat you to a pulp!"She said in response.
Nate laughed a little."You're kidding right?"
"No,"She said as she approached him, cracking her knuckles.
Realizing she wasn't joking, he made a run for the tunnel. She noticed this and cut him off by using Quick Attack to get in front of him. He screeched to a halt and then had to avoid a volley of flame-coated punches from the weasel. He made a quip about her being too slow which served to infuriate her and move faster. He suddenly had to jump away to dodge a punch that was close to hitting him, leaving her to hit the spot he was previously at. He saw the impact of her punch hitting the floor leaving a small spiderweb crack.
He gulped at this."Don't wanna be hit by that."He thought as he landed and fired a Thundershock at his opponent. She winced in response to this. Fire from Quilava's head and tail erupted and began to cover her before she dashed toward him at high speeds. His eyes widened at this before he turned around and started to run around the room to avoid the speeding ball of fire. This went on for a bit until Quilava had to stop using Flame Wheel due to exhaustion. Nate saw his chance, he stopped running to slam into her with Quick Attack. The attack sent her skidding across the room away from him.
"You…little!"She growled as she got back onto her feet, panting heavily.
Nate was about to attack when he noticed something about his opponent, they were breathing heavily and looked like they were struggling to keep their eyes open.
"You okay?"He asked her.
"I'm…fine!"She replied in a tired tone.
He tilted his head a little as he stared at her."You sure? Cause you look like you're about to pass out."
"I said…I'm fine!"She repeated then rushed forward to punch him but only made it halfway to him before she passed out from exhaustion.
"Heh! Guess, I win,"Nate said to himself then did a victory dance. Once he was done, he was about to leave to go to the next room when he glanced over at the unconscious Quilava. He looked like he was debating something in his head for a bit then sighed and walked over to her.

Shizuko was annoyed, he had been through four rooms and hadn't found the stairs yet. He wanted to get to the next floor as soon as possible so he could reunite with his friend but it looked like that wasn't gonna happen. On the bright side, he found out that like in the games, items like money, berries, orbs, etc spawn in this place. However, that wasn't the only item he found. He found two small yellow shells. He thought he recognized them from somewhere but he could not think of where at the moment. So, he stored them away in his bag for later and continued exploring. He also ran into a couple of Husks while going through the rooms but he easily dealt with them.
Right now, he was walking through a corridor to a room he hasn't explored yet. He was nearing the end when he thought he heard movement going from the room."A Husk?"He assumed as he exited the corridor into the room. He surveyed the room right quick and found he wasn't alone. The other inhabitants of the room were four Mareep.
Mareep is an ovine Pokemon that had fluffy cream-colored wool covering its entire body, as well as a curly tuft of wool in the middle of its head. Their heads are blue, and they have black eyes. Their four feet are blue and have two digits on each foot. Their ears were cone-shaped and their tails have a yellow-and-black striped pattern. On the end of their tails was an orange sphere.
He noticed something or rather someone unconscious on their backs.
Having a feeling that the Pokemon they were carrying wasn't a Husk, he hid back in the corridor and thought about his next move.
"I could yell at them to get their attention and hope they drop them to attack me,"He thought then shook his head negatively. He remembered he had seeds on him and pulled them out. The ones he had on him was the one that looked like a cracked nut, the pink and white flower, and the orange pinecone.
After some thought, he settled on using the one that looked like a flower. He stored the others then stepped out and tossed the seed at one of the Mareep. Once it made contact with the sheep, it burst open and released a pink mist that spread out across all of them. They inhaled the mist and the next moment were all asleep.
"Well, that was unexpected."He was not expecting the seed to do that."I wonder how the other seeds differ from the games."Shizuko thought, briefly looking at his bag.
He made his way over to them and fainted the Husks before turning his attention to the unconscious Pokemon. He recognized the Pokemon as one of the Unova starters, Dewott.
Dewott is a bipedal otter-like Pokemon that is primarily light blue. They have small black ears, a red nose, and long white whiskers forming tilted V-shapes. Their forelimbs have three fingers on each black paw. Their feet and flat tail are black. Around their waist is a large, dark blue, fringed arrangement of fur.
He inspected them for a bit and found they were scratches all over but other than that they looked okay. He then tried waking them up by shaking for a bit and shouting at them. When they didn't wake up, he thought about what he should do next.
"I could carry them,"He shook his head negatively to this."Carrying someone would put me at a disadvantage."He thought about what else he could do when he glanced at his bag and an idea came to him.
He opened his bag and rummaged through it until he found what he looking for, the seed that looked like a cracked nut. If it was what he thought it was then it should wake them up. He popped the seed into the otter's mouth and helped him swallow it. He backed off to wait for something to happen. The otter glowed green briefly, the scratches over his body disappearing. They groaned and slowly opened their eyes to reveal them to be green. They sat up and looked around the room until their eyes landed on Shizuko. Their eyes widened before they quickly got to their feet and reached down to their thigh region to grab something but found nothing. They glanced down at their sides and looked alarmed for some reason.
Shizuko held up his paws."Wait! I'm not going to hurt you! I'm here to help!"Dewott stopped what he was doing to look at him with a surprised expression and relaxed a little."My name is Shizuko. What's yours?"
"...Yoshi,"Dewott responded in a young masculine voice. He looked over the Emanation Pokemon and noticed the explorer bag."Are you an explorer?!"He asked in a tone that seemed to be a combination of hope and excitement.
Shizuko lowered his arms and looked confused for a second before he realized why he asked him that and replied."No. I'm not an explorer. A…friend of mine gave me this."Yoshi looked disappointed by his response."So, how did the Husks capture you?"He asked, changing the subject.
"Oh! After exploring this place for a while I got tired and hungry. I didn't think that was going to be a problem until I ran into some electric types. I tried to overpower them but they ended up knocking me out."He told him, looking disappointed with himself.
"Makes sense. You can't give it your all if you're tired and hungry. Not to mention he was at a type disadvantage."Shizuko thought before he asked him."Are you still hungry?"Yoshi nodded in response to his question. Shizuko opened his bag and rummaged through it for a bit until he found what he wanted, a sandwich."Here."
"Are you really sure you wanna give that to me?"Shizuko gave him a nod. He still looked uncertain about taking the sandwich but took it after a moment's hesitation and began devouring it."So, why are you in this dungeon?"He asked, deciding to ask Riolu a question of his own.
"Well, my friend and I found out some Pokemon were kidnaped by the Husks of this dungeon. So, we decided to come in here and rescue them ourselves."Shizuko replied, causing the otter's eyes to widen in response.
"Really?! Me too! I saw some Husks carrying some mon into this blue portal and went after them intending to rescue the kidnaped!"Yoshi said then added."Please, let me come with you! I promise you I won't be a burden!"
Shizuko looked to be thought."Hmm, he doesn't seem like a bad Pokemon and it wouldn't hurt to have some extra help in this place."He thought before making his decision and looked at the Dewott."Sure, you can come with."
"Great! Let's do our best!"Yoshi said with a smile."But first, could you help me my scalchops? I kind of dropped them after they knocked out."He asked sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head.
Shizuko face faulted at this before he recovered and asked."And what do your scalchops look like?"
"Two small yellow shells."
"Two small yellow shells…where have I-oh wait!"Shizuko thought then reached into his bag and looked through it until he found what he was looking for, two small yellow shells."I assume these belong to you."He said, holding out the shells for the otter to take. Yoshi nodded, eagerly taking the shells from him before placing them on the fur on his thighs.
Shizuko then began exploring the dungeon again for the stairs but this time with a new companion with him.

Quilava groaned as she began to regain consciousness."What happened to me?"She thought as she slowly opened her eyes."Last thing I remembered was fighting something annoying."
"Finally awake, ms. grumpy pants."A voice said to her left. The fire-type turned to see a familiar rodent sitting next to her eating a sandwich.
"You!"
"Me!"
"What are you doing here?"
"Eating a sandwich."He replied, nonchalantly before taking a bite of his sandwich.
"No! I mean what are you still doing here? I tried to beat you up."She clarified.
"Well, I was going to leave but I had a feeling leaving you alone was a bad idea. I was right when some Dungeon Pokemon showed up not too long after I defeated you. So, I decided to stay and wait till you awake up to leave."He explained to her.
After hearing this, Quilava felt conflicted. On one hand, she was touched that he was willing to protect her when she couldn't. While on the other hand, she hated being weak and helpless. She was in the middle of deciding whether or not she should thank him or threaten him not to tell anyone about this when she suddenly had a sandwich in her face. She blinked in confusion at this.
"You gotta be hungry after that nap. I usually am."He told her.
Quilava was about to rudely decline his offer of food when her stomach growled loudly to tell her she was indeed hungry. He chuckled while she growled, a blush of embarrassment on her cheeks. She snatched the sandwich away from him before sitting up, turning around to face away from the rodent, and began eating. Nate shrugged at this, not at all offended by her behavior and display. The two sat there in silence, eating their respective sandwiches for a bit until the Pikachu decided to break by asking a question.
"So, what's your name?"
"...Clair,"The Quilava answered back in an uninterested tone.
"Nice to meetcha, Clair! I'm Nathan but call me Nate!"He told her in a cheery tone much to her annoyance.
"So, what are you doing in this dungeon?"He asked her in a curious tone. She remained silent in response."You wanna know why I'm in this dungeon?"She still remained silent."Well, me and my buddy found out some Pokemon were kidnapped by some Dungeon Pokemon. So, we decided to come in here to rescue them ourselves,"He noticed her ears rise up in attention but other than that no response."But we got separated not too long after going into this place. I fell down some stupid hole!"
"Then I guess we have the same luck then,"Clair thought, having fallen down a hole to end up on this floor as well.
He tried to chat with her about little things for a bit but she refused to talk to him for some reason. They soon finished their food and then got to their feet. Clair began making her way to the corridor on the left when Nate suddenly stopped her.
"Wait!"She stopped walking."Do you wanna come with me? We might find my friend on the way!"He told her.
"No,"
"Aw, but why?"He asked in a whiny tone.
"Because I don't like you."She answered and before he could give her a response she went through the tunnel.
"Fine! I didn't want your help anyway!"He yelled in her direction.
He began making his way to the right tunnel when he paused at hearing footsteps come from it."Dungeon Pokemon? Bring it on!"He said, his cheeks sparking with electricity as he looked ready to fight. However, what exited the tunnel was a familiar jackal Pokemon followed by an otter.
"Nate!"Shizuko exclaimed in a mixed tone of surprise and relief at seeing the Pikachu.
"Shizuko!"Nate exclaimed, happy to see him."What took you so long?"He asked him, grinning.
"Not all of us could have fallen down the same hole,"Shizuko said in response, looking unamused.
"Whatever you say,"Nate said with his arms folded. He then noticed the newcomer and walked to him."What up! I'm Nathan but call me Nate! What's yours?"He asked, holding out his fist for a fist pump. Instead of pumping his fist like he expected, the otter simply stared at it."Problem?"
"What are you doing with your hand?"Yoshi asked, confused.
"Offering you a fist pump."Nate said like it was obvious."Have you never had a fist pump before?"He shook his head negatively."It's easy, you just pump your fist with mine."
The Oshawott looked unsure of himself but did as he told and pumped fists with the Pikachu."A pleasure to meet you, Nate. My name is Yoshi."
"Oh! Like from the Super Mario games!"
"Super what?"
Before Nate could tell him what he meant, Shizuko quickly interjected by asking."Nate, what were you doing before we found you?"
The Pikachu turned to him."Oh! After I fell down the hole, I tried to go find those kids on my own but I quickly ran into someone."
"Who?"
"You remember that weasel I told you I thought was a boy?"Shizuko nodded in response."Well, she was in this place for some reason and wasn't too happy to see me. We fought each other and I won."He grinned smugly as his friend rolled his eyes."After that, she woke up, I gave her some food, talked with her for a bit, and found out her name's Clair. I asked her if she wanted to team up but she rejected my offer and left. I was about to leave too when you guys showed up and that's pretty much it."He told them, summarizing the events that occurred.
"Well, it's obvious what we need to do now…"Shizuko said, after a moment of silence."...We need to go find Clair and have her come with us."
"What! Why?!"Nate asked in a shocked tone.
"It's dangerous to go off on your own in this place. If she gets knocked out then they will drag her off somewhere,"He pointed a finger at the Dewott."This happened to Yoshi but luckily I arrived in time to save him."Shizuko told him.
"But I already asked her to team up and she said no!"Nate argued.
"You mistook her gender then later beat her up. Are you really surprised she rejected your offer?"Nate looked like he wanted to argue more so he continued."I know you're against this but we need all the help we can get. Besides, she's in here for a reason if we team up we can find out what it is and help her."
"...Fine,"Nate said, reluctantly agreeing.
Shizuko smiled."Great! Now, which way did she go?"He asked him.
"That way,"Nate said, pointing to the tunnel opposite the way they came.
"Alright then, let's go,"Shizuko said, before the three of them made their way over to the corridor and entered it.
They walked through it for a bit until they came out the other side and looked around the new room. The room was similar to the ones they had entered before but had no corridors leading anywhere and a black large door with two holes in it. In front of the door punching it repeatedly with an annoyed expression was a familiar weasel. Shizuko stepped forward and coughed loudly to get her attention, Clair paused briefly before turning around to look at them with her fists aflame and an alarmed expression.
"Easy! We're not here to hurt you, Clair!"She gave him an expression of surprise, so he continued."My friend, Nate, told us your name."Shizuko brought a paw to his chest."My name is Shizuko."He gestured over to the Dewott on his left."His name is Yoshi."The Dewott didn't react and instead was watching the Quilava for any hostile moves."And you've already met my friend, Nate."He gestured over to the Pikachu on his right. Nate smiled and waved, getting an annoyed look in response.
"Listen, I know you declined Nate's offer to team up earlier but I want to offer it again,"Clair opened her mouth to speak but he continues before she could."I don't know why you're here but we can help you if you are willing to help us. So, what will it be?"He told her.
Clair was silent for a bit then gave him a response."Fine. I'll come with you guys if you can help me get through this door."She gestured to the door behind her.
He smiled."Sure! We can do that."
"We can?"Nate questioned.
Shizuko glanced at him."Of course! How do you think we got down here?"He told his friend before making his way over to the door. He reached into his bag and took out two blue spheres. He inserted them into the two holes and then waited. The spheres glowed briefly before the whole door glowed completely and dissolved to reveal a large set of stairs leading to somewhere below.
"This leads to the next floor, right?"Clair asked, looking at Shizuko who nodded as the other two came over.
"So, who wants to go first?"Shizuko asked no one in particular. Without saying a word, Clair made her way down the staircase."Well, okay then."He went down next followed by Nate then finally Yoshi.

Once the group of four made it to the floor and stepped out of the staircase, the stairs behind them faded away. Showing the group that going back that was no longer an opinion. They took this moment to inspect their new surroundings. The room they were in was much wider than any of the rooms they had explored previously. The thing they found odd about this room was the fact there weren't any tunnels that led anywhere.
"Does anyone get the feeling we're in a boss room?"Nate asked no one in particular. No one said in anything response to his question.
They began walking more into the room only to stop abruptly when the room began to shake. Suddenly three tunnels appeared; one in front of them, one on the right, and one on the left. Emerging from those tunnels were several different Dungeon Pokemon. The Dungeon Pokemon were Growlithe, Mareep, Buizel, and Sandshrew.
Buizel is an orange Pokemon that resembles a combination of a weasel and a sea otter. It has a yellow collar around its neck and two blue fins on its arms. It has a cream-colored spot above each eye and two black parallel marks on its cheeks. The underside of its face and stomach are also cream-colored, as are the tips of its two tails.
Sandshrew is a bipedal pangolin Pokemon. Its brick-patterned yellow hide is dry, and tough, blends in with desert sand, and protects its soft white underbelly and muzzle. Sandshrew has blue, almond-shaped eyes, a pointed snout, and triangular ears with white insides. Its tail is thick and conical. It has two long claws on each foot and three sharp claws on its forepaws, which are used to burrow.
As the Husks began making their way toward the group, they got ready to fight them. Yoshi grabbed his scalchops, Clair brought up her fists and ignited her flames, and Nate grinned as his cheeks sparked with electricity.
Shizuko looked at the others."Now, before we fight them I think we should-"He got cut off by his friend yelling.
"Leeroy Jenkins!"Nate yelled before he rushed at the incoming horde. Yoshi and Clair followed his example and rushed at them as well. Shizuko sighed at this, then followed after the rest of the group.
When the two groups collided, chaos ensued. Nate began zapping Dungeon Pokemon left and right with Thundershock, Clair beating Husks that came her way with her fists, Yoshi slashing at them with Razor Shell, and Shizuko attacking them with either Force Palm or Bone Rush. This went on for a while until eventually they defeated all of them. Nate cheered at their victory and tried to get high-fives from Clair and Yoshi, the former refusing while the other didn't know what to do.
"Why do I have a feeling this isn't over?"Shizuko thought as he scanned the room for anything out of the ordinary. His eyes soon landed on the tunnel in the middle and noticed something different about it."Was that tunnel always that big?"Suddenly, he froze and his eyes widened in shock as he detected a massive amount of malice and it was heading their way.
Yoshi noticed this and asked him."Is something the matter, Shizuko?"Before the Riolu could answer his question, the sound of heavy footsteps could be heard approaching them. This caused everyone to become silent and turn toward the middle corridor. A moment later, something emerged from it. The something was revealed to be a Mightyena but it was the size of a large horse and had glowing red eyes.
"I didn't know Pokemon of this size could appear in dungeons!"Shizuko thought as he stared at the Pokemon. Clair glared at it while Yoshi looked unnerved by it.
"That's one big doggy!"Nate commented causing the Husk to look in their direction.
The Mightyena took a deep breath before letting out a loud howl that made them cover their ears in pain. It then crossed the room in seconds much to the group's shock and tried to claw at the group but they barely dodged by jumping away. Once Yoshi landed he fired a blast of water from his mouth at the large canine. The attack hit but it looked hardly hurt by his attack. Clair dashed forward and tried to punch it with Fire Punch but avoided her attack by running away. It then came behind her and smacked her away with a paw. Nate fired a Thundershock at it but like with Yoshi's Water Gun, it had little effect on the beast.
It turned to look over at Nate and he gulped."Uh, nice doggy."He said, giving it a nervous smile. It made its way quickly over to him and tried to sink its fang into him if not for Shizuko blocking it with Bone Rush. The Mightyena growled before raising its head with the Riolu still in its grip and jerked his head to the side while opening its mouth.
"Shizuko!"Nate cried after seeing his friend be sent flying away from him. It then looked back at him and he paused before making a run for it. It began chasing him and luckily for him, he was faster than it. It went after him for a bit until Yoshi got its attention by slashing at it with Razor Shell. It stopped chasing Nate and turned to the Dewott. It dashed over to him and tried to bite him with Thunder Fang but he blocked it with Razor Shell. Sparks flew as the two tried to overpower the other for a moment until Mightyena broke through his attack. Yoshi cried out in agony as he was electrocuted by the super-effective attack.
Shizuko saw this and began to think of ways to help him."I could try to hit with Force Palm which would be super-effective against it, but there's no guarantee that would hurt it. So, what else can I do?"He thought. He then remembered he had items in his bag that could help. He reached into his bag and looked through it until he found what he was looking for, the seed that looked like an orange pinecone with sharp leaves. He chucked it at the Husk and watched as the seed burst open upon hitting it and released small packets of explosions causing it to howl in pain. It released the otter from its jaws and Yoshi fell to the floor with a thud. He had lost consciousness due to the pain from Mightyena's attack.
He tensed as it turned in his direction and snarled at him. It ran towards him to attack him and he prepared himself to either dodge or attack. However, right when it was close enough, a certain Quilava got between them and nailed it with a flame-coated fist right into the side of its jaw. The blow actually sent the beast back a bit and momentarily put it in a daze.
"Jeez, good thing she's on our side."Shizuko thought, stunned at the mustelid's strength."Thanks for the save, Clair."He told her in a grateful tone but she paid him no mind and tried to get in another blow on the Mightyena but jumped back to avoid the attack. Its eyes glowed and suddenly the room began to darken until it was pitch black. The only thing that could be seen was Clair's flames, providing some light to their surroundings.
There was a tense moment of silence as the two of them stood alert for anything. Then all of a sudden, they heard the sound of footsteps approaching them fast before Clair was struck by an unseen force that knocked to off her feet. Clair gritted her teeth in annoyance as she got back onto her feet and looked around wildly for the Mightyena. While she was doing this, Shizuko figured the best way to find the Mightyena was to sense it with Aura Detection. He closed his eyes and concentrated to see something circling them at high speeds. Suddenly, it stopped moving and began heading toward Clair.
"Clair! On your right!"He yelled at her to warn her.
Hearing him, she swiftly turned to her right and struck. To her satisfaction, she heard a whine of pain from Mightyena and tried for another attack but hit air. It began circling them again and they waited for it to strike again. It tried again to attack her only to get the same result. This happened two more times. On its latest attempt, however, instead of rushing at her, it appeared behind her as if it had teleported.
His eyes widened at this and yelled."Clair behind you!"
She turned around but wasn't fast enough to avoid its attack. It reached down and sink its fangs into her midsection, making her cry out in agony. It moved its head back and forth with her in its maw for a bit before finally spitting her out. The room was suddenly lit up again and Shizuko could see his surroundings again. He could see Clair several feet away from him unconscious.
"First Yoshi, now Clair. Who else is next?"Shizuko thought in a worried tone. The Mightyena looked at him and prepared himself for whatever it was gonna do. However, he wasn't prepared for it to open its mouth and slowly a sphere of energy formed within. His eyes widened in horrific realization as he recognized the move it was using."Hyper Beam! I gotta get out of the way!"He tried to move his legs but they wouldn't respond to him. He came upon another realization, he was too scared to move.
The Mightyena soon finished charging its attack and reared its head back before firing a large beam of black energy at the Riolu. With limited time to react, Shizuko brought his arms in front of himself and braced himself while also closing his eyes. As the blast made its way towards him, time seemed to slow and suddenly he yelped in surprise as someone pushed him out of the attack. The blast hit something else, an explosion occurring and leaving a big cloud of smoke in its wake.
Shizuko groaned in discomfort."Ugh, I thought a Hyper Beam would hurt more."He thought in confusion as he opened his eyes. He picked himself off the floor and checked himself to see he was fine."If the Hyper Beam didn't hit me then what did it hit?"He looked at his surroundings for anything out of the ordinary until his eyes landed on something that made them shrink in horror. A couple of feet from him was his friend lying face down on the floor covered in scratches. He made his way over to him and fell down to his knees. He placed a paw on him and tried to shake him awake.
"Nathan. Come on…buddy! Wake up, please!"His voice became erratic as he shook the Pikachu more."...Please, I can't do this without you."He said, getting teary-eyed. He finally stopped trying to wake him after a moment, realizing he was down for the count and not getting back up anytime soon.
"This is all my fault. If only I hadn't frozen up, he wouldn't be in this state."He thought looking down with his hands on the floor. He closed his eyes and gritted his teeth in anger. Unknown to him, his fur began to darken in color.
Meanwhile, Mightyena was unable to move due to using Hyper Beam. Once it recovered, it glanced at the last remaining Pokemon and launched itself forward to finish him off by slashing at him with its claws. It blinked in confusion at hitting nothing then looked down to see its prey had disappeared. Alert, it looked around wildly for them only at hearing a voice behind it.
"Looking for someone?"It quickly turned around to the Riolu but there was something different about the fighting type. His fur was now a darker shade of blue, his eyes were now red, and he had a dark grin on his face. It regarded these for a second before running towards him. Once it was in front of him, it tried to swipe at him but he swiftly sidestepped the claw and jumped towards its chest with his right arm pulled back and glowing dark purple. He slammed his paw into its chest, causing it to gasp in shock and pain. The force of the blow was powerful enough to send it flying back some distance away and landing on its back with a loud crash.
It took a few moments for it to recover. Once it did though, it got back to its feet and looked at him while taking heavy breaths."Oh, does puppy need a breather before we continue?"He asked it, mockingly. It snarled at him before Its eyes glowed, the room suddenly darkening until it became pitch black.
"This trick again."He thought as he sensed it appearing behind him. He jumped away to avoid its attack. He landed and it dashed towards him with its fang glowing white. He waited till it was close enough then delivered a right hook to its jaw. The punch stopped it in its tracks and he followed it up with a kick strong enough to send it a fair amount of distance away. Light once again returned to the room and Shizuko could see it was lying on its side, trying to stay conscious.
"Is that the best you can do?! Come on, get up! I wanna go some more!"He screamed at it.
It took about a minute but it eventually got back onto its feet. It opened its mouth and Shizuko grinned at seeing a familiar sphere of energy form. While it was charging, Shizuko brought his paws together to his side. A black sphere of energy formed as he charged an attack of his own. After a certain amount of time, Mightyena fired its Hyper Beam and the Riolu with a mighty yell launched Aura Sphere in retaliation. The two attacks met and clashed briefly before Shizuko's attack powered through Mightyena's and continued towards it. Too tired and injured to move, Mightyena took the full blunt of the attack. A big explosion happened, leaving a big cloud of smoke in its wake. When it cleared, it revealed Mightyena on the ground unconscious before disappearing.
"Too easy!"Shizuko said, laughing as he savored his victory."Now then time to-what!"He was cut off by whatever he was going to say by the room filled with light and he blacked out.

An unknown amount of time later, Shizuko awoke to find himself in an unfamiliar room lying down on a bed."Where am I?"He thought, sitting up as he inspected his surroundings. He considered for a moment if he was in another part of the dungeon and shook his head negatively. This place is far too different for it to be part of it.
"Should I call for someone or wait for them."He thought over it for a bit then decided to call for someone."Hello! Is there anyone here?"He yelled, his voice sounding hoarse.
When there was no response, he guessed either he was alone or they didn't hear him. He was proven wrong when a couple of moments later, he heard footsteps approaching his door before it opened to reveal a familiar face."Kitsune!"He cried in joy and relief.
"Hey, kid! How you holding up?"She greeted him as she made her way over to his bedside.
"Fine, but where's Nate? Is he okay? And Yoshi and Clair! Are they okay? What about-?"He was gonna ask more questions but Kitsune cut him off.
"One at a time. I'll answer all your questions as soon as possible. But first, drink this."She held out a glass of water for him. He graciously took it and greedily downed the drink."Now, to answer your questions. Nate's around and okay. The same goes for those other two. As for the children that were kidnapped. They've all been accounted for and back with their families."She finished, smiling at him.
He breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this."I'm happy to hear that."He said, trying to sound happy.
The Delphox noticed this and asked."Is something the matter?"
He hesitated before he answered while looking down at his glass."At some point in the dungeon…I froze up and ended up getting someone hurt. I feel awful for letting them get hurt because of my weakness."
"I see…"She considered her next words carefully. Once she did, she got close to him and placed a hand on his shoulder making him look at her."Listen, what happened to you wasn't your fault. It happens to all of us when we're faced with a difficult situation we aren't prepared for. What matters is that you make sure such a situation never happens again by improving yourself. Do you get what I'm saying, Shizuko?"She finished.
He nodded slowly."I think I do. Thank you, Kitsune!"He thanked her, giving her a small smile.
She smiled back."Good! Now, I have a question of my own to ask you. What happened with the alpha? Nate and the others already told me their part."She asked him.
"Well, after it took out Nate, I was the only one left. I then…I then…"He tried to recall what happened next but was having trouble.
"Then what?"She asked.
"...I can't remember."He answered after a long moment of trying to remember."That isn't good right?"
She frowned at this."No, it isn't but let's worry about that later. Right now, I think you should get some more rest, okay,"He nodded in response."Alright then, I'll come back later with food."She told him before taking his empty glass. She then walked over to the door and gave him one last look before leaving the room.
Once she was gone, Shizuko was left alone in the room."What could have happened to make me not remember?"He thought, trying to come up with a possible but with barely anything to go off of, he was kind of stuck. He laid down on the bed, closed his eyes, and eventually fell asleep.

Pokemon406: Now, the reason this took so long is that I had difficulty with the Alpha Husk fight. It was my first time juggling five characters in a fight scene. Not gonna lie, I struggled writing this. Fortunately, I was able to get through this. I'm probably coming back to rewrite this in the future but for now, this is it.
