the talk with Edward is finally here! mother's day is coming next and probably one of my favourite to write.
see you next chapter!
Bella didn't want to be here, she felt too vulnerable. It was a nice enough restaurant, she thought, very upscale. She couldn't expect anything less from Edward, and just thinking about him made her shudder.
She didn't want to meet Edward, but she thought she could have a talk with him and get some closure. Besides, Charlie said it would be a nice thing to have a chat, and it was something better than what Edward deserved.
The worst part of Edward reappearing was the distance Paul seemed to put between them. She was worried about the fact he had given her space; Bella didn't want space, she wanted his strong arms around her to stop her thoughts of getting the better of her.
"You're beautiful, just like I remember from our teen years," a voice from behind her said and Bella turned around and there he was, Edward looking at her. "You didn't change a thing, love."
"And you changed a lot, especially appearing in my life after everything," Bella deadpanned. "What did you want, Edward?"
Edward had the good grace of blush, and Bella turned around again, waiting for him to join her. He quickly sat down in front of her, smiling the same smile she fell in love once upon a time.
"I wanted to talk with you. It's been years since we last saw each other," Edward said, trying to pick her hand, but Bella recoiled them in time. "I missed you, love."
"I don't want you calling me any nicknames," Bella said, glaring a little at Edward. "It took me a long time to get over everything you've done. So I'm asking again, what did you want?"
Bella glared at Edward, and was glad to see him fidgeting. It took some time and a lot of therapy for her to realize Edward was the wrong in their relationship, and all the abuse he put her through. Not to mention, him leaving town after discovering she was pregnant.
"I missed you, and I know you probably missed me." Edward smiled at her and she couldn't help but compare his smile to Paul's, and she missed her boyfriend more than ever. "I want to be back in your life. I think we should give each other another chance."
"I already told you when you called me, I'm dating someone. You met him when you appeared at my dad's house!" Bella practically yelled at him, but refrained herself in time, remembering where they were. "Besides, aren't you forgetting someone?"
Edward frowned. "Who? I don't think we need to think about anyone besides ourselves."
Bella took a deep breath, and tried not to throw the water on his face. "Giovanna, my daughter. I won't call her our daughter, since you don't even seem to remember about her, not that she even asks about you."
Edward seemed to be taken back by her outburst, but Bella was on a roll and she was going to tell him everything she was holding for the last five years.
"Even if I haven't met Paul—who is an amazing person, and a hell better parent than you can even think about it—after everything that happened between us, I would never go back with you.
"And the fact you don't even remember you left your ex-girlfriend pregnant, after years of bullshit and abuse you put me through? I wouldn't let you come near Giovanna even if you paid me. I shouldn't even have come here today."
Bella stood up, feeling lighter than she ever felt. It was almost cathartic how saying what was in her mind helped her; her therapist would be so proud of her.
"I didn't even want to come back here, and I wouldn't have if Carlisle hadn't obliged me, threatening to cut me off," Edward mumbled and Bella shook her head in disbelief.
"I should have known you wouldn't come back without an ulterior reason," Bella muttered, before walking away, deciding to close this door forever.
She didn't know what the future would hold, but she knew Edward wouldn't be a part of it. Deciding to wash Edward's presence of her life, Bella walked towards her car with a destination in mind: La Push. She was going to go see Paul and Maya, knowing they were a part of Giovanna's and her future.
