Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, and for the mothers who read this story. I hope you enjoy this chapter!
I'm writing a bonus chapter, and it's going to be about what Paul says in the end of this chapter lol
See you next chapter!
"At what time your man will arrive?" Charlie asked and Bella blushed just thinking about Paul. "I miss my other granddaughter."
"Dad, do you remember which day is today? I don't think Paul is going to come here," Bella replied, trying to finish tidying up her living room.
Mother's Day never had been a date she celebrated with fanfare, since Renée never seemed to want to do something about it. It was only after Giovanna was born that Bella finally started to celebrate the date, and every year, Giovanna, Charlie and her went to a brunch to celebrate the date.
"But you two are still dating, right? I hope the fact the douchebag reappearing didn't scare Paul away," Charlie mumbled, never one to hold back on his dislike for Edward. "I actually like this new boyfriend of yours."
Laughing, Bella just shook her head at her father's antics. After the talk with Edward, she had visited Paul, and they were still together and she explained about what happened between her and her ex; Paul was very comprehensive about everything, and it warmed Bella's heart to have found such a nice man.
"Yes, Dad, we're still together." Bella bit a smile to appear, seeing how much Charlie liked Paul. "But I still think they aren't coming here today. Paul is probably spending time with his mother."
Paul had mentioned how Maya and he spend every Mother's Day with his mother, since Maya never met her mother. Her heart ached thinking about little Maya, who never met the woman who gave birth to her. Bella hadn't pried, but she knew Maya's mom was a touchy subject with Paul.
"They could have come here, you're basically mothering Maya anyway," Charlie grunted and walked towards Giovanna's room, probably trying to make her get ready faster.
But Bella was rooted to her spot. If what Charlie said had any indication of truth—and why would her father lie to her?—and she was mothering Maya, what did Paul think about it? She didn't want to overstep anything, but she felt as if Maya was hers, the same way as Giovanna.
Trying not to dwell on these thoughts, seeing how she would have to wait to discuss this with Paul, Bella walked towards her room, deciding to postpone thinking about anything that wasn't what she wanted to eat at brunch.
"Mommy, when Mr Paul and Maya will arrive? I miss them," Giovanna said, as soon as they were seated at Bella's favorite restaurant.
Charlie snorted and Bella glared at him, but she decided not to say anything to her father.
"They aren't coming, Gio," Bella started, trying to think how to explain to Giovanna. "You know today we celebrate Mother's Day, and everyone spends time with their mommies."
"Like you and I," Giovanna pipped, smiling at her and Bella felt her heart melt.
"Exactly like that, Gio." Taking her small hand in hers, Bella looked straight into her daughter's eyes—so similar to hers that was startling sometimes. "Maya and Paul are spending time with Paul's mommy today."
Giovanna frowned, thinking hard about something. "But what about Maya's mommy?"
Biting her lip, Bella didn't know how to explain this to her daughter. "Well, Gio, sometimes, people don't have their mommies around. I don't know where Maya's mommy is, but she has her daddy, and her grandma, just like you have grandpa Charlie and grandma Renée."
"But Maya has you, mommy! You can be her mommy!" Giovanna said like it was the greatest idea she had ever had, and Charlie's loud laughter rang through the restaurant.
Glaring at her father, Bella sighed, before looking at her daughter's hopeful eyes. "It doesn't work like that, Gio. When you get older, you'll understand a little. Now…what do you want to eat?"
Praying Giovanna let go of the subject, Bella decided to take a look at the menu, even if she always asked the same thing. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't even heard Giovanna standing and hollering, until she felt a presence on her side, and looked up to find Paul smirking at her.
"Well, hello there," he said in that deep voice of his and Bella melted a little on her chair. "Fancy meeting you here."
"Paul?! What are you doing here? I thought you were going to spend today with your mother?" Bella quickly said, before standing up and hugging him. She had missed his hugs.
"We had breakfast with her, and will have dinner together, but someone wanted to see you and ask something," Paul said, before motioning Maya towards Bella.
Bella smiled at the little girl, even if Maya wasn't looking at her, instead looking at her feet. Exchanging a look with Paul, Bella tugged Maya towards her, making the little girl look in her eyes, before looking away.
"Maya? Is everything okay, sweetie?" Bella asked, but Maya just nodded, without looking at her. "Did you want to ask me something?"
Maya gulped, before looking at her, and Bella could see she was blushing fiercely. "Miss Bella…can you be my mommy today? I don't have one and I wish you could be mine."
Bella's eyes widened before filling with tears, and taking a quick look at Paul, she saw he was nodding to her. Kneeling, Bella took Maya's hands in her and looked at the little girl.
"Are you sure?" Bella whispered, not wanting to scare Maya, but wanting to be sure of what she was asking.
"Yes," Maya whispered, her voice almost gone. "I want you to be my mommy, please."
"Oh, sweetie," Bella said, hugging Maya to her, and trying not to cry. "Yes, I would be delighted to be your mommy today."
Maya hugged her fiercely, and Bella's heart melted even more. Glancing at Giovanna, trying to gauge her daughter's reaction, Bella couldn't help but laugh: Giovanna was hugging Paul the same way Maya was hugging her.
"Knew this was going to happen sooner or later," Charlie mumbled, picking his menu. Bella decided to ignore her father for now.
"Why don't you two join us for brunch? Maybe later we can go to the park?" Bella said, standing up and sitting Maya next to Giovanna.
"I think this is an amazing idea," Paul said, sitting next to Bella, before leaning towards her and whispering in her ear. "And maybe later, we can have some celebration of our own? I would love to find a milf in my bed, especially if the milf in question is you."
Bella blushed hard, and looking at Paul biting his lip, she couldn't help but nod. It was a happy mother's day indeed.
