Author's Note IMPORTANT (TRIGGER WARNING): This Author's Note doesn't involve anything from this chapter but from future chapters. Specifically regarding what happened in the comics between Invincible and Anissa. I've spoiled myself with the comics at the time of writing this chapter and I know what happens. Mainly because I do not trust myself to write about something so serious and that I have no real understanding of how to properly handle such a traumatic event that I have not even been through myself, I have decided that she will not be a character in my story. I draw attention to this because Naruto will have a Viltrumite girl love interest later on and I wanted to let you all know that she is NOT a stand in for Anissa. Everything between them will be completely PG and consensual. I DO NOT wish to offend anyone, ESPECIALLY any of you who may have gone through such a traumatic experience. This is a fic that I write for fun. Wanted to get that off my chest, so please enjoy the rest of the story.
Chapter 6: Where I Really Come From
"Iruka...we need to talk." Iruka was reeling. There were too many things happening all at once. An invasion, all these ninja dead, Naruto being the one that killed them all. Given everything he knew about Naruto from the very beginning since he's known him, he could only come to one conclusion. He shook his head and said. "No..." He dashed towards him, intent on breaking him out of this genjutsu. He put his arm around his neck in an attempt to immobilize him then put his hand in the tiger sign. "Kai! Kai!" When nothing seemed to happen he ran to Naruto's front to look into his eyes to see if his pupils were dilated. "Someone's controlling you! Naruto...Naruto tell me who they are!" Naruto looked pained. "Iruka..." He suddenly had an idea. 'If I knock him out it should break their genjutsu on him.' He went back behind him and put his arm back around his neck to choke him out until he passed out. "Let Naruto go!" Seeing he wasn't getting anywhere he increased his grip. "Let him...let him go!"
Naruto closed his eyes while lightly gripping his arm. "Stop." He threw him off him with minimal effort. Iruka landed in a crouch prepared to fight when Naruto touched the ground and made a placating gesture. "It's me Iruka. It's...just me." Iruka looked confused. Naruto looked down at the blood on him, closed his eyes and sighed. "This isn't how I wanted to do this, but I don't have a choice. It's time for you to know where I really come from."
Iruka was listening. "I am from Viltrum, but it's..not the planet I've told you about. We have created a perfect civilization, but it took all of our strength, determination and courage to get there. In order for our people to reach their full potential...we had to remove the weak...from our society. It was a long and...difficult process. When it was over, our population was cut in half but what emerged from the ashes was unstoppable. By the time I was born Viltrum was already the greatest empire in our galaxy. We decided to make it the only empire in our galaxy. Me and my grandfather have been called to join the war effort. It's...hard but I believe in our cause. Some species will resist of course, but no one can withstand us for long. Soon our empire encompassed thousands of planets, but as our territory grew our forces were spread thin and our expansion stopped. We needed a better, more efficient way to conquer worlds. Our most trusted officers were each given a planet to weaken, by themselves. My grandfather...was one of those lucky few. We couldn't tell anyone why we were here...but that time's come..to an end." He said this next part with pride in his voice. "And now, I need to get the world ready, to join the Viltrum Empire." The remaining rookies were shocked and terrified.
Iruka gained a sad look as a tear slid down his face. Naruto smiled at him. "Iruka, this is good news. I can finally do what I was meant to do. Be who I was meant to be." Naruto got closer as Iruka looked down. "You lied to us." Naruto responded. "You couldn't know the truth. Not until I had my powers, not until he was sure." Iruka looked back up, sounding distressed. "Sure of what?" Naruto put his hand on his back, trying to calm him down. "Sure I was a Viltrumite." Iruka pushed him off. "So, because I'm not a Viltrumite, I'm just one more human to conquer?" He sounded even more distressed as he wiped his face. "No, th-this doesn't make any sense! You love me! You love all of us! I know you do!" Naruto looked down a little, as if contemplating how to word this right. "Do you have any idea...how long we live? The older we get, the slower we age. Viltrumite DNA is so pure, I'm nearly full blooded. I'll live for thousands of years. Do you understand what that means? Everyone I know here will be gone before I even look thirty. It's not something...I want."
"This isn't my world. It's yours, but we can help you. We can stop wars, eliminate hunger, give you medical technology centuries ahead of what you have now." Iruka had looked away from him for a while now, silently crying. Naruto was getting frustrated at his silence. "I've already been doing it! If it wasn't for me this village would have been in flames a long time ago." He calmed down a little and went back to his side. "All I have to do, is welcome the Elemental Nations into our Empire." Iruka looked like he was being won over for a moment, until Naruto said this to him. "I do love you, but you're more like a...a pet to me." Iruka was shocked and indignant at the blatant disrespect. "A pet!?" Naruto put his hand on Iruka's shoulder. "This is the only way Iruka." Iruka was having none of it and shoved him off. "Don't touch me." Naruto made a placating gesture, trying to de-escalate the situation. "Calm down." Iruka shouted at him. "No I will not calm down! This is insane! What do you think is gonna' happen!? That we're all just going to quietly give up and let you enslave us all for a bunch of aliens we've never met!? This is your life! These are your people!"
Naruto sounded almost offended. "I have a responsibility to Viltrum-!" Iruka interrupted. "I don't give a shit about Viltrum, and I don't care if you live a fuckin' million years! This is your home and I won't let you destroy it!" Naruto sounded eerily calm. "You don't know what you're saying, and I can't let you...interfere." He stopped crying and wiped his tears as he got into a stance. "I know exactly what I'm saying." Naruto glared at him seriously for a moment before he closed his eyes and sighed. "So be it." He blurred towards Iruka faster than he could react and uppercutted him into the air. Naruto flew up and punched him back down to the ground. Iruka was fairly sure he had broken something when Naruto landed in front of him hard enough to crack the ground he was now standing on.
"Do you really think you can stop me?" Iruka tried to get up and punch him, but he caught it in one hand and was now slowly crushing his fist. When there was a crack he let out a short scream and fell on his knees. Naruto quickly grabbed him by the throat, threw him in the air, then grabbed his ankle and tossed him out of arena and into the city. Naruto's glare softened a little and gained a pained look. He would do what needed to be done if he couldn't convince him to give up.
Naruto rose in the air and flew out of the arena to find Iruka. Intending to convince him to see his side of things. Iruka was knocked into the streets and when he landed, he broke his arm. ANBU came to help him but Iruka was trying to save them by getting them to leave. Naruto landed behind one of them. "Don't hurt them, please!" Naruto rolled his eyes. "You try so hard to keep as many of these 'people' alive even though you know how they treated me as a child. I thought you were my friend." He casually used his hand to crush the ANBU's head in front of him and Iruka was sprayed with blood. "NO!"
Naruto looked at the ANBU who was trying to call for reinforcements. "I don't think so." He flew towards him when Iruka tackled him in the air. "You killed him!" Naruto wasn't even slightly fazed as they stood up. "Now or in fifty years when he's old? What difference does it make?" Iruka sounded upset. "What difference? He'd have a life!" Naruto got angry again. "Did seeing that man lose his life disturb you? Did it hurt?! Well let's see how you handle this!" He punched him through a wall inside a hospital. Iruka had to do something and fast. Each time Naruto punched him he broke something. He heard Naruto levitating through walls to get to him, which he noticed was de-stabilizing the building.
He had to get them out of here! "Everyone! We have to get you out of here! Something...is de-stabilizing the building!" This got their attention but it was already too late. The building was coming down. He finally got out of the building when Iruka saw Naruto as he levitated out of the rubble with a horrified look on his face. "How could you do this?" He was trying not to cry as Naruto responded, "That was your fault. Your stubbornness against the inevitable killed those people. How many more need to die Iruka? It's up to you." Naruto continued as Iruka looked down. "And what were they doing with those fragile little lives anyway? Listen to what I'm saying, you know in your heart I'm right!"
Iruka sounded indignant. "Right?! About how pathetic, and pointless our lives are? Are the Ichiraku's lives worthless?" Naruto tried to sugar coat this next part. "In the grand scheme of things...yes." Iruka tried not to absolutely lose it but..."LIAR!" He dashed forward and just wailed on Naruto. Wanting to let him get it all out so he could talk with him, he let him hit him. To not break his hands on his face, he flew back a little each time he was hit. When Naruto decided he had enough, he caught Iruka's broken arm. "For the first time in my life. I have family!" He head butted him hard enough to knock him into the opening of the bunker where most of the remaining civilians were being kept.
When Iruka looked around, he felt the blood ooze out of his face. He noticed that the bunker was filled with what had to be hundreds of scared men, women and children. There were some ANBU guarding them around the inside. That's when Naruto crashed through the ceiling, setting them on guard. Iruka's voice was trembling. "Naruto...please." Naruto simply frowned and sighed, then looked around. "Maybe this time you'll learn." He blurred out of everyone's sight. He was flying through every last individual in a storm of blood and gore, covering Iruka. They were all screaming as they were trying to escape, but simply weren't fast enough. When there was only one child and Iruka left standing, Naruto slowed down enough for him to see him. He was covered in blood and bits of internal organs and brain matter.
"These people are meaningless." He floated towards the petrified child, too scared to move. His tone was hard. "Their cavemen without me." He grabbed the top of the child's head and slowly crushed it as the boy screamed in pain, until his head exploded from the pressure. Iruka was trying so hard to help Naruto but he was losing faith he was even capable of helping Naruto at this point. "You're wrong. If I didn't matter to you, if we didn't matter to you, you wouldn't have saved me from Mizuki. Maybe you were always meant to be a Viltrumite, but you're a Leaf Ninja you were happy here!"
Naruto turned towards him. "Sure, I was happy. For a time. But I'm loyal to Viltrum. Not this pathetic excuse, for a civilization." Iruka looked down, tears welling up in his eyes again. He got an angry look and tried to punch him again but Naruto side stepped easily. From Naruto's point of view things were almost not moving. He slammed Iruka in the back so hard his vertebra cracked and was sent crashing into the ground hard enough to knock him back up in the air from the sheer force of the landing. As he was in the air, Naruto tackled him and just kept flying up until they were back to the surface. Iruka leaped of him when Naruto started to lose his patience. "You aren't listening Iruka! My time here has revealed to me the true nature of humanity! You don't know me." He blurred back towards him and grabbed his collar. He had a mad look in his eye. "I will burn this planet down. Before I spend another minute living among these animals!"
Iruka growled and punched him full force with a chakra enhanced punch right in Naruto's face. It didn't even faze him. "Please." He punched Iruka hard enough in the face to send him flying but Naruto flew past him and slammed him again and again, and again. Each time he sent him flying away until he caught him in the air. "I was wrong to be so gentle with all of you. I should have prepared you better. Been more forceful. Your lives have been soft and painless. Well your true education begins, now."
He dragged Iruka across the sky, headed straight for the Hokage Monument. When he got close enough he through Iruka into the Fourth's head hard enough to shatter it. Iruka's whole body was completely busted up at this point. Parts of his limbs sticking out at odd angles. And his face was swollen and gushing blood. Naruto landed hard enough to crack the crater Iruka was laying in. "You're doing this for nothing. Being a part of the Empire will make Earth better than it ever was." Iruka sat up as much as he could and gurgled. "And what if they resist?" Naruto sounded angry and aggressive. "That's why I'm here. To keep them from resisting! To show them how wrong they are, how pointless it is! That they can be a part of something bigger! Or die!"
Iruka stood as best he could and raised his fists for a fight. "I won't let you." Naruto screamed as he punched Iruka especially hard this time, sending him to the ground and splitting his nose open. "You want to die for this planet!? Fine! What's another dead human anyway!?" With a snarl he hooked his thumbs in Iruka's eyes causing him to scream in agony. Naruto did this to get a grip on his head with both hands from the side and pulled his head apart. Killing him instantly. Completely unfazed, Naruto flew in the air and began to lay waste to the village. Flying so fast that hurricane force winds picked up and destroyed most of the village.
Only a few Sound and Sand ninja managed to escape, including Temari. Naruto thought to himself, 'I should let some of them live. Send a message, then after I return they'll surrender if their smart.' Naruto held the entire Hokage Monument in one hand above his head while hovering over the Hokage Tower. He flew out from under it, dropping on top of the Tower in the process. He flew into orbit directly above the village, as if looking for something. "Ah, hey Jiji. I destroyed most of the village, but left some of them alive. That should give them plenty of witnesses to tell the rest of the Elemental Nations about our strength. By the time we return they'll probably surrender."
James nodded, pleased with his grandson. "Good. It should take us only about a week and a half to get to Viltrum from here." With that they both took off into the void, slowly picking up speed, towards their home world.
Back on Earth
Naruto had finally left so the Leaf Ninja and and civilians came out knowing the danger passed. There were no more enemies, but there was no celebration. It was a solemn quiet for all of them. The remaining rookies gathered while walking around the village. No one spoke. What would they say? They've never experienced such a crushing defeat like this. To think it was Naruto that caused all this. Shikamaru finally broke the silence. "We have to get stronger. We've been lazy. Knowing Naruto, he'll be back and we have to be prepared. If we aren't, he'll destroy us." They all silently agreed. They would take their training seriously from now on. They knew if they didn't they'd lose everything.
In the following weeks it was decided among the remaining council members that if they couldn't get Tsunade to come back and lead the village, then Danzo would become the Godaime. Jiraiya set off by himself and found Tsunade after some time in a pub. "Tsunade." She looked at him intent on saying something snarky when her comment died in her mouth. "Jiraiya, what happened?" He'd lost his left arm in the battle with Naruto, the only reason he was left alive was because Naruto needed a messenger.
He explained to her exactly what happened, why Naruto was really here, and how strong he was. "Tsunade, we need you to come back." She snorted, "Like hell I'd-" Jiraiya slammed his remaining hand on the table to get her attention. "This isn't about us anymore Tsunade!" She was surprised that he was getting so worked up but she wasn't convinced. Jiraiya was going to make her understand however. "This isn't even about the Village anymore Tsunade! This is about the survival of the Human race!" Tsunade was skeptical. "Don't you think your being a little over dramatic Jiraiya. I get he's an alien but I don't think he's as dangerous as you say he is." Jiraiya was getting worked up and stood abruptly. "Let me show you how dangerous one of them is! Come with me and let me show you what they're capable of!" Tsunade was thinking about it. She knew Jiraiya had a tendency to over exaggerate, but based on the fact he was missing an arm, she was inclined to believe him. If he was truly that strong he was right, it wasn't about the village anymore, it was about the future of humanity.
She breathed in and sighed. "Fine. But I'm only going to see. I'm not helping." It took them a while to get back there, but what she saw did two things to her and her apprentice. The first thing is it broke her heart. What she saw wasn't just destruction. It was almost complete annihilation. The second is, it terrified them both. She refused to believe that one child did this to the strongest village in the Elemental Nations without using his tailed beast. "No, a kid can't do this." Jiraiya was serious. "He did. He did it completely alone, after he killed the One Tails." Her eyes widened. 'That's impossible! They can't be killed!'
"How many are left?" Jiraiya had a solemn look. "Including both Ninja and civilians, roughly four hundred." Shizune cupped her mouth in horror. They walked through the mass grave that was their home now. Tsunade came to conclusion. "I'll become the Hokage. We need to prepare the rest of the world for their return."
Suna
Temari came back with only the handful of surviving members of their village's assault force. Her sensei and her two brothers being among the casualties. She would have nightmares for years to come after seeing the carnage a Viltrumite was apparently capable of. She realized on her way back that it would only take one, maybe two Viltrumites to bring their village, no the entire world to it's knees. She had warned her village and at first they didn't believe her. But after the rest of their ninja that survived vouched for her, they believed her.
After being leaderless for a few days it was decided that she would take the mantle of Godaime Kazekage. She was the only one that could get them all ready for their return.
Viltrum
James and Naruto were just outside of orbit of their home world. It was a beautiful planet. Blue and green, similar to Earth, except it had a gray planetary ring around it. James welcomed Naruto. "Welcome to Viltrum Naruto." Naruto was finally home after so long.
