The days following everyone showing up was a whirlwind. While I was worrying about everything I was also having fun and enjoying having all these people I loved here and being able to get away for a while from everything.
But we were down to 24 hours, I would be marrying Steve in the morning well later morning and I could not believe it had come so fast.
After the guys showed up we had headed to Ashford Castle where we were having the wedding and dad had rented the whole place for us to enjoy and use without the public all around.
Everyone was now here that was invited to the wedding and in total we had about 50 people here which we could have a lot more but it was nice to keep it kind of small as well. It meant that we had the people who meant the most to us here.
We had been enjoying having the place to ourselves though and all of the things that there was to do around. As I was walking down the hall I saw Peter sitting outside.
Walking out I sat down by him.
"What do you think about the view?"
"It's amazing, thanks for inviting May and me."
"Of course, I am happy to have you here."
"I was not sure, we have not spent a lot of time together and well…"
"Peter, I'm going to let you in on a little secret story, whatever you want to call it. My dad cares about you, a lot. I always wondered if he wanted a son but you know he just has me. I know my dad loves me, I mean look where we are, I have never doubted his love for me. But I have also seen the way he is with you. I see how you are with him. You both get so excited working together and you work so well with each other. Now another thing, I have always wanted to have siblings, it's all I wanted when I was little. I never thought I would get it at all but it's almost like with you I get a chance. Now I know you love your Aunt and she is absolutely your family but I just want you to know that I am here for you as well as the others. You have this whole big extended family now that is always here for you. We might be a lot at times but I know you will get used to it and we will grow on you. But all of this is up to you Peter, we can be whatever you need us to be for you."
He is quiet for a moment and I see a tear fall down.
"Thank you Rebekah. Things have been different but you have all been so nice. Being invited means a lot to me, I know you just have your family here so it does mean a lot. I have always been an only kid but always wondered what it would be like to have a sibling as well. So maybe we could be that for each other. Only if you want, you don't have to, I would understand. You can forget I asked."
"Peter, I would like that as well. I might not be perfect at it but I do promise to try and do my best. We can figure it all out together."
"I would really like that, Rebekah, thanks."
"Of course, Just so you know you can call me Bek's if you want."
"Ok Bek's, I am very glad to get a chance to be here, so thank you for having me and being so welcoming."
"Of course kid, now come on let's go find the others my dad has plans for today and knowing him it is going to be a busy day."
"I'm just glad to be included."
"As long as you want to, you are welcome, you are now part of this family. Same with your Aunt, you both are always invited."
"Thank you." We both got up and headed to find the others.
We spent the day relaxing and making sure that everything was ready. I spent some time at the spa with some of the other girls. I was fully trying to relax and be able to enjoy the last day before I got married.
That evening we all had a rehearsal dinner of sorts and were sitting around tables laughing and talking. I loved looking around at all the people I loved and was excited to have everyone here for something happy for once.
"Are you enjoying yourself?" Steve leaned over to whisper.
"I am, I like having everyone together. Not having secrets of who I am spending time with anymore. I'm glad everyone is able to be together and be here for us."
"I am happy that you are not so stressed about it and keeping all the secrets anymore. You know, no matter what you can tell me anything."
"I know, and I am so grateful that I have you by my side."
"I am here, always."
"I know and it puts me at peace knowing that. I talked to Peter today."
"About what?"
"That if he was interested in a big sister I would happily be there."
"What did he say?"
"That he would like that. I see how close dad and Peter have got and I want to be there for him if he is going to be in our lives more. Dad wants to keep him around and honestly all I have ever wanted was to be a big sister. I like the idea that if I could pick any sibling that it would be Peter. We get along. He is funny and kind, has a huge heart and wants to always help people. I like to hope that had my parents had another kid that it would be Peter. I know I have the others that I see as siblings at times but I grew up with them and with Peter it is different. When I spend time with him it is like he is my little brother, and while yes I know he is more than capable of standing up for himself. I want to do everything that I can to keep him safe and help him. I don't know it is such a strange feeling for me. I mean I would do anything for anyone I love but I d0n't know with Peter it is just different."
"Well from what I understand that is how siblings work. It was how Bucky was with his sister. How Natasha is with Yelena, even you and Daisy."
"What about Daisy and I?"
"Whenever you two are together you are like this force to go against. You have one another's backs completely and you have the most sibling bond I have ever seen. I know you are close with Natasha and the others as well. But you and Daisy when the two of you are helping each other it is like everyone should get back. You both would go to the ends of the universe for each other. I heard Coulson and May talking with Tony yesterday when you and Daisy were laughing and talking. They said that had you two grown up together you would have been thick as thieves and would always have been together. May said that when you first met you both just clicked like you had known each other all of your lifes. You have a special bond with each other that not everyone can have with another. Now you have that big sister bond with Peter. You have siblings maybe not in the way you thought it would look like but you do and you can tell they both love you as well."
"I didn't even realize it. I was talking to Mel about her and Phil and how Daisy is like their daughter but I guess I never thought of what that would make us. I was with Mel and Phil as much as I was with Mom. Had she been theirs or they raised her we would have grown up together. I just never thought about that until now."
"Y0u have a lot of people in your life that love you and you love. Never forget that all these people in this room are here because of the continuous love that you have shown each and every one of us."
"You truly are something special Mr. Rogers."
"Not nearly as special as you Miss. Stark, soon to be Mrs. Rogers."
"I can't wait."
"Good because I can't wait for tomorrow as well."
"All of my dreams are coming true." He smiled and placed a kiss on my lips.
"I love you"
"I love you forever."
The rest of the dinner was fun and full of laughter. When dad decided it would be fun to tell stories and so then people started to tell stories of us and I was sure I was changing shades more than once but it was still a lot of fun.
After a while Lila walked over to me.
"Auntie Beks"
"Yes love?"
"Are we still staying in your room tonight, Having a girls night?"
"We are, I can still count on you to come have fun with us right?"
"Don't worry I will be there, I told daddy you needed me, I have a very important job after all."
"That you do. You want to sit with me for a while?"
"Ya" I helped her climb onto my lap before catching Laura's eye who smiled at us. Once I know she knows where Lila is I go back to enjoying the evening and feel Lila slowly drift off to sleep about an hour later. I smile and hold her close as I continue to talk.
"You are good with her." Nat said, sitting down by me.
"She's always wanting to be around Auntie Bek's," Laura said as she got to us.
"Well I love being around her."
"I only wish I could get her to fall asleep that quickly."
"Well it's different, you are mom im just fun Auntie Bek's"
"There is nothing 'just' about you, the kids and everyone for that matter adore you."
"Thanks Laura, I adore all of you as well."
"Good or all of this would be very weird."
"Only if you make it that way."
We all talked for about an hour longer before deciding it was time to get to bed so that we were all well rested for the next day.
"Good night, I will see you in the morning." Steve told me as he helped me up and I shifted Lila in my arms.
"I will be the one in white, Good night. I love you."
"I love you." He gave me a quick kiss before we parted ways.
"Would you like me to take her?" Clint asked walking up to me.
"No it is fine she wanted to spend the night with us girls, I can carry her up."
"Alright, good night little one."
"Night Clint." He kissed both Lila and I on the forehead before walking out. I started to head over to the girls who would be staying in the rooms with me. When dad walked over to me.
"So is this a glimpse into the future?"
"I don't know, maybe, you think you could handle it?"
"I know you will be an amazing mom one day. I have never doubted that."
"Thanks, and thank you for all of this. It has been amazing."
"It's not everyday your little girl gets married. It's not going to be right?"
"No, I'm a one and done kind of girl, Steve is stuck with me after this."
"I don't think he would have it anyother way."
"I think you are right. Good night daddy, I love you."
"I love you baby girl, sweet dreams." He hugged me and kissed my cheek and we parted ways. I walked over to the other girls.
"Are you ready for bed?"
"Very much so." We walked up to the rooms and I felt Lila hold on tighter as we walked and smiled thinking about the fact that one day I could be carrying my own kid off to bed.
Once we got in the room I laid Lila on a bed and helped Laura change her into a nightgown as she slept through it all.
"Reminds me of when you were little. Once you were asleep you were out." May said, looking at me with a small smile. We all left and went to our parts of the rooms and changed for bed. I slipped into my room and was alone for the first time today.
I climbed on my bed once I was changed and grabbed my blanket I had brought with me. I was sitting in the quiet just left with my thoughts after a busy day.
I could see my dress hanging up with the moonlight that was coming through the window. I smiled at the way it glimmered in the moonlight.
Looking to the nightstand I saw the picture of mom, dad and I that I had put up when we had got here.
I felt the tears start to fall.
"Mom, I wish you could be here." pulling up the blanket from Peggy, Anna, and grandma. More tears started to fall down my face.
"I wish all of you were here." I fell onto my bed pulling it close and letting the tears fall.
After a few moments I heard the door open and close then someone came and sat on the edge of my bed.
"Do you need to talk or just someone to sit with you?"
"How did you know?"
"I have known you all of your life, love, I know that this is hard for you."
"I miss them Mel."
"I know, come here baby." I slid over to Mel and let her pull me into her arms.
"I always thought mom would be here for this."
"I know, she would be if she could. You know that, we all do. She loved you so much and she would want you to have the best day ever. We are all here for you and we are here to help you in any way you need. I know you sweetie I love you and will always be here for you whenever you need me. Just like the others will. Your mom would be so proud of the amazing, courageous, kind, and compassionate woman you have become."
"I keep wondering and wishing. There are moments that I forget she is gone. Not as much as when she first died but once in a while I still wait for her to come home, or when I wake up I think about what she would be making for breakfast. I miss her so much and while I am so happy about everything happening in my life and marrying Steve. I just wish she could be a part of it."
"I know"
"Mel"
"Yes love"
"Thank you for being with me. Thank you for knowing I would need you."
"I will always be with you. I know you and I know how you are. That is how I knew you would need me."
"I'm grateful mom made sure you were in my life."
"Well I am grateful she allowed me in your life."
"Will you stay with me just for a while?"
"I will stay with you as long as you want me to."
"I love you Mel."
"I love you Bek's"
I laid there with Mel softly running her fingers through my hair and let it calm me enough to sleep.
