Thank you all for your great reviews. I am so, sorry I haven't updated much on any of my stories. I am now enrolled at university as well as working. So, time is limited for me. I hope this chapter makes up for making you guys wait.
Time was frozen for me. Angela has only been gone probably about an hour now and I feel frozen. Sam and the others are around me, though I'm not aware of what they are talking about. I think it's about me.
My thoughts consisted of pain and Angela. I couldn't even think of shifting back to human, or even moving.
I felt a small person sit down next to me. I felt her hand on my head. I knew instantly it was Bella. Aside from knowing her scent, what other human who come and stroke a wolf the size of her truck.
"Embry, it will be ok" she said. Her voice pulled my attention, it was calm and soothing. I lifted my head towards her and rested them on her legs. He nuzzled her side, looking for comfort.
She gripped my head tight and hugged me. All the while she whispered 'it would be ok' and 'Angela would be back'. I wanted to believe her, I really did. Something inside me couldn't. My parents left me, my friends before the pack left me. She had no reason to stay, I left it too long.
Sam nudged me to get up, but I ignored him. "Embry! Get up!" he ordered. I felt the pull to instantly obey. I had no choice, I reluctantly left Bella's lap and stood up facing my alpha.
"I'm sorry Embry, but I need you to listen to me" he said. I nodded in understanding. "Change back" he commended again. I was grateful, he commanded it as I don't think I would be able to otherwise.
Once we were all human and dressed, mainly for Bella's sake, Sam placed his hand on my shoulder.
"We have a plan Embry, Bella will ring Angela and ask if she can come and visit. She will ask if you can come too, if not then Bella has permission to tell Angela about us and about you" he said with a nod to Bella.
"I should be the one to tell her" I complained. It wasn't that I didn't trust Bella I just wanted to be the one to tell her how I feel.
Bella walked up to me "we all know that Embry, but if you can't I will". I nodded as she walked away and took out her phone. Thanks to my enhanced hearing I could hear both sides to the conversation.
A – hello Bella.
B – Hey Angie, how are you feeling?
A – Awful, mum sent me to my grandmas to clear my head, but I think I've caught something. I have been in bed sick since I got here.
Bella looked at me.
B – I'm sorry to hear that. Would you be up for some visitors tomorrow? It might make you feel better to see some friends.
A – which friends?
B – well me and Embry if that's ok. He's worried about you too. If it's not ok, then just me.
Angela was silent on the other end for a long time. Well it might have only been minutes, but it felt longer.
A – I have no problem with you both coming, I like Embry, he's nice. I'll just check with my grandma.
She likes me? I could have done a happy dance right then if I wasn't in pain.
We could hear her shuffling things about, and muffled voices.
A – my grandma says that is a great idea. What time will you be here tomorrow?
I wanted to shouted when the sun rises but Bella spoke for me.
B – around dinner time, is that ok?
A – yes that will be great. I'm gonna go rest a bit. I will see you both tomorrow. Night Bella.
B – night Angela.
Bella turned off her phone and smiled at me. "Be at my house for nine o'clock ok, her grandma's place is a couple of hours' drive". I nodded eagerly and wrapped her up in a hug.
"Thank you" I whispered into her hair. She laughed and hugged me back. I looked at Sam and he nodded with a smile.
I headed home quick it was getting late, even though I knew I wouldn't sleep, I at least wanted to try.
My grandmother was in the kitchen baking as usual when I walked in. She smiled as she put a plate of food down and ordered me to sit and eat. I hadn't realised how hungry I was right then.
When I finished, I helped her wash the pot's before sitting in the living room with her. "Grandma, tomorrow I'm going with Bella Swan to visit Angela. You remember that girl I brought here?"
Grandma nodded with a smile. "she has gone to visit her grandmother, but she isn't feeling well so we are going to go and try and cheer her up". I explain truing like hell not to sound too excited.
Grandma nodded again "are you going to tell her how you feel?" my jaw literally dropped. Grandma started laughing "I'm not an old fool Embry, I could see you had feelings for her when you brought her here. She is a lovely young woman, don't let her slip through your fingers" she said with a chuckle.
I eventually, once the shock wore off, returned her smile "I won't grandma". She nodded again and picked up a book and started reading.
I stayed with her for a little while longer before going to bed, and just like I predicted I couldn't sleep. The night dragged slowly. Eventually, eight o'clock came around. Grandma was already up.
"Eat some breakfast before you go" she ordered. I ate dutifully. Just as I was about to leave she handed me a box. I looked at her quizzically. I made something for you and Bella to eat. I know your appetite and I imagine it might be a long trip. Make sure Bella gets some too". I kissed her cheek with a smile and raced off to my bike.
I made sure to dress nice, in some dark jeans and shirt. I drove to Bella's and arrived exactly at nine o'clock. Bella smiled at the baked treats my grandma had done for us.
We both climbed into her truck and set off. Angela's grandma lived on another reservation about three hours away. If I could have gone in my wolf form, we would have been there a lot sooner. However, an hour in to our journey the tree line fell away. There was a maze of roads and highways. No possible place for me to hide.
We eventually make it to the reservation and then to her grandma's house. I'm a bundle of nerves as we park and get out the car.
I hesitate a bit, Bella looks at me with a smile. "What if she doesn't accept me Bella? What if she runs screaming? I don't know if I can take that" I slowly start to panic.
Bella nods "I know but, Embry what if she does. You are picturing the worst-case scenario. Think about the best ok". I nodded as I take a deep breath and follow Bella.
'Please accept me Angela' I chant in my head as I walk up to her door. Bella knocks and an elderly woman answers.
"You must be Bella and Embry, come in please" she greets us warmly.
'Here goes nothing' I say to myself as I step inside.
