Sorry that I haven't updated in a while been trying to figure out what to write next. Hopefully this was worth the wait.

Emily walked out of her house and scanned the tree line for any sign of her fiancé. She sighed as she made her way back inside. Bella was in the kitchen she quickly looked up expectantly at Emily. She shook her head, both girls sighed as they looked at Angela who had fallen asleep on the sofa.

"What are they doing?" Bella asked as they sat down at the small dining table. Emily shrugged her shoulders "all Sam said was that he was going on patrol. If they are this late, then that means they ran into some trouble".

Both girls jumped out of their seats when they heard a howl. They raced towards the back-door Sam emerged from the trees. Emily raced towards him "you're late" she said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. He chuckled as he hugged her back.

"Sorry, we picked up a strange scent turned out to be some hikers smoking something strange" he explained. All three made it inside before Sam noticed another scent. His gaze landed on Angela asleep on the sofa. He looked quizzically at Emily and Bella.

"She had questions about the imprint and, she needed to talk to someone who is one" Emily explained. Bella nodded "she wants to see Embry". Sam nodded "in the morning, for now we should all get some sleep. Bella there is a spare room you can sleep in" he said as he locked up the house and took Emily's hand and went upstairs.

The dark woods loomed over her as she lifted her head to the stars. The shadows danced around her, frightening visions of monsters and demons. The cold unforgiving wind blew through the trees moaning. She could feel a presence close by, stalking her. "Whose there?" she screamed into the wind. Silence was her answer. She turned and there at the edge of the tree line was a pair of red eyes. She screamed …...

Angela woke with a start. The house was quiet and dark. She could feel a pounding in her chest and a ringing in her ears. She had a sinking feeling in her stomach. Something was wrong. She raced out the back door and into the woods. She raced through with no idea where she was headed. She heard a howl close by but didn't dare stop.

After what seemed like hours of running she came to a clearing. A dark wolf was in the centre surrounded by three men. At least she thought they were men until they move so fast she couldn't see them. They were attacking the wolf in the middle. The wolf let out a load roar as Angela screamed in pain. The three men turned towards her, her blood froze. Their eyes were blood red.

The wolf limped towards her trying to stop them, but it was no use. He let out a huge howl that stopped the vampires. They looked back at him a little uncertain. They could smell the human close by and they knew the wolf was lame. They turned back to Angela ready to seize her, but she was no longer alone. Several more wolves now stood in-between them and the human.

The three vampires raced off with the wolves quickly after them. All that was left was the limping wolf and Angela. Once she regained the feeling in her legs she raced towards he injured wolf. She knelt beside it as it whimpered.

"Embry?" she asked as she gently stroked the top of the wolfs head. He whimpered once more before phasing back into human. This had been the first time since leaving Angela that he had been human. Angela blushed when she noticed he was fully naked. He weakly lifted his head towards her "what are you doing here?" he gasped. Before she could respond his eyes closed and he fell to the ground.

Sam and the others returned and carefully lifted Embry and carried him back to Sam's home. They laid him down in the spare room. "Get the leech doctor" commanded Sam. Paul and Quil raced off.

Angela looked up to Emily "what did he mean by leach?" Emily sighed "the Cullen's are vampires, but they don't feed on humans. Dr Carlisle has helped us before when Jake got hurt. He will be able to help" she explained. Angela nodded as she took hold of Embry's hand.

An hour later Carlisle came downstairs "his spine was crushed in the attack. Had he not been a wolf he would have died instantly. I have re-aligned his spine and given him medication on a drip so that he doesn't feel much of the pain whilst he heals". Angela slowly stepped forward "when will he be healed fully?"

Carlisle smiled "it could be a few days or a week that all depends on him". He turned to Sam "with your permission I will return tomorrow to check on him and give him more medicine if needed". Sam nodded his understanding before nodding towards Paul and Quil to guide him back.

Angela turned to Bella looking worried "I don't want to leave him, but I know my parents will freak out if I don't go home". Bella nodded as Emily stepped forward "ring your family and tell them you are sleeping at Bella's. A sort of catch up girl's slumber party" she offered. Bella nodded "yeah your parents will like that".

Angela nodded and went outside to phone her parents. After some time, she came back in "my parents were ok about it, I'm gonna go up and sit with him". Before she could Sam placed a hand on her shoulder "he will be ok, Angela" he said simply before moving away.

Angela made her way upstairs, she stood at the door watching his chest rise and fall. she moved closer and sat carefully on the bed beside him. She placed her hand on his heart and her own. She closed her eyes and found his heart beat slowing to match hers. His breathing seemed to slow and his face, once scrunched in pain now seemed at ease, relaxed like he was only sleeping. She laid her head down on his chest and fell asleep listening to the sound of his heart beating.
