Total Eclipse of the Heart
Ok Thanks to those who read the first chapter. You make me feel good about writing something different. For those who read my note in Our Time Now where I said I would NOT do Spinelli anymore well I outlined this for a few chapters and I may or may not use Spixie or LaySpin as a prop (though I could just as easily do JoLu) Sorry if they seem OOC but one is a minor character and one is too new to really get a feel for so...bare with me. Also still trying to think of a 'mob conflict' to add some angst...Standard disclaimers from last chapter apply...
"Another Soy Latte like before," he asked her as she began to fidget with her ponytail.
She wondered how he knew her order however she shook her head.
"I think I'm going to go with an herbal mint tea instead."
He nodded and the barista headed to make the order.
"You know you didn't have to do that."
Milo smiled at her and let out a sigh.
"It's ok, I have connections."
He was laughing on this inside about that remark. She could never know just how deep the connections went.
"Sounds kind of mysterious."
"I've never been called that before."
"Well then what do you get called."
She bit her lip cursing herself for using a cheesy line like that.
"God that sounded lame."
"I didn't think so, I think it was just the lack of caffeine in your system, it causes people to say crazy things."
"Maybe your right."
"Milo."
She looked into his dark eyes confused.
"That's what they call me, my name it's Milo."
"Claire," she said holding out her hand.
"That's a pretty name."
"Thanks, I guess," she said as the barista handed her the tea.
"Anyway Milo are you sure you don't want me to pay for dry-cleaning or something, I mean the more the coffee stain sets the worse it will stain and..."
"Its fine, you don't know how many white dress shirts I own."
There was an awkward silence between them as they began to stare each other down.
Claire kind of liked this Milo character. He didn't seem like the typical losers and jerks that she used to date. He seemed sweet and kind. He was dressed in a suit so she assumed he did something big, a banker perhaps, or some kind of hot shot businessman. Though it really wouldn't of phased her if he was on her roommates team cause to her no guy could be that good looking and sweet it was too good to be true, always a catch.
To Milo he never felt this way about a girl at first sight before, not even with Lulu Spencer. Claire was cute and funny and seemed well rounded. However he still wasn't' sure by reading her looks how she would feel about the whole, 'Mob' thing however he thought a girl like this Claire would possibly help him to be a better person and get away for good. That was if he knew how to do something else.
"S-so Milo do you want me to buy you something."
"No, I'm good," he said as the barista handed him his usual drink, "but are you on a schedule or do you want to sit."
"I can sit I guess, I mean the only date I had was with a warm bath and a good book and I'm sure they can wait."
Milo chuckled imagining her perfect body submerged in a sea of bubbles.
Shaking the thought of that from his mind he pulled out a chair causing her to blush.
"And he's a gentleman to boot," she thought thanking him as she took a seat.
"So, Claire, what is it that you do."
Claire was about to tell him that she was a medical resident at GH when the sound of a phone ringing interrupted.
Milo picked up the phone and rolled his eyes.
He couldn't believe Sonny was calling now of all times.
"I have to get this," Milo said.
Claire nodded assuming that it was some kind of business call. She knew about calls like this after all she was in medicine and could get paged in the drop of a hat.
"Yes, yes...Tonight...fine I'll be there."
Milo let out a sigh cursing his boss's enemy of the moment André Karpov for having a shipment coming in that evening and his boss who was allegedly retired to make him spy on the situation to make sure a conflict didn't arise.
"I take it you have to go."
"Yes, though if I had my choice I'd like to stay and get to know you."
Claire paused grabbing a brown napkin and searched in her purse for a pen. Scribbling rapidly on the piece of paper she smiled handing it to Milo.
"Here is my number; I'd kind of like to get to know you too. Man I'm sounding all sappy again."
"I kind of like it," he said smiling as he got up and made his way back toward the office grabbing his jacket and tie hoping that he'd have a moment to run to his apartment to change or at the very least that his jacket and the cloak of darkness could hide the coffee stain.
As he left Claire let out a dramatic sigh. She knew Kyle was going to just LOVE hearing about this.

I'm sorry for short chapters I am still trying to flush out a plot. I think that this chapter could have easily been combined with the last one and hopefully future chapters will be longer
