Total Eclipse of the Heart
OK so I just want to say I am defiantly taking my creative liberties with the whole drug storyline and I hope you approve and keep on reading. Still don't own GH and all resemblance to other works is strictly coincidental.
Coming into her house with a file of work from Kate Maxie was on cloud nine. If someone had told her a year ago she would be completely and utterly in love with Damian Spinelli she would have laughed in there face and told them they seriously needed to get their head examined. However now she couldn't have had it any other way.
Cursing the fact that it was a Saturday afternoon and she had work to do when she would of rather be spending it with her newly minted boyfriend she placed her portfolio on the couch rolling her eyes at the fact that Matt left his gym bag in the middle of the living room, again and headed to the pile of mail on the coffee table.
"Junk, Bill, Mac's...oh..."
Picking up the pale blue envelope she smiled as she tore it open squealing at the good news. Her cousin Lucas was moving back to town.
This made her feel happier then before. She was in love; her cousin was coming back to town, who cared if she was stuck with the roommate from Hell.
--
Nadine took a deep breath as after her shift she made her way to the commissioner's home. Thinking back to the last time she tried to sneak around snooping on Matt and was accused of being his bed buddy. Not that she wouldn't have minded. Sure she had a crush of sorts on Nikolas Cassadine but there was just something about Matt Hunter that drover her insane.
Knocking on the door she mentally rehearsed a cover story.
--
Back at the hospital Claire was still letting Leyla's words set in. Milo was a part of the Port Charles mafia. Sure he was only a bodyguard but that was the principle of the thing, plus the fact this just made him more directly in the line of fire kind of made her go crazy. The last guy she even remotely gave a damn about was the first patient she had ever lost and the thought of falling for Milo only to loose him made her feel awkward.
Kyle spotted Claire in the on-call room looking mopey and sat down next to her running his hand through her long blonde hair.
"What seems to be the problem Claire, Milo is fine."
"I know that but."
"But what Claire, I can tell when something is upsetting you and the sparkle that you had seemed to fade when Milo got wheeled in."
Claire nodded.
"I found out things about Milo."
"What kind of things, is he gay because I'm available?"
Claire laughed shaking her head.
"There is the smile I like."
"Shut up Kyle, Milo is in the mob alright...and well I just don't know what to do now."
--
Matt entered Milo's room and pulled a chair toward his bed and looked at him.
"Do you think someone is on to us?"
Milo just nodded.
"Anyone particularly."
"Well it could be a number of people."
Matt nodded.
"I know what you mean, I know that one nurse Nadine thinks that I am the one bringing the drugs into the hospital."
"Which is the opposite."
"I know that, I mean ever since I lost that patient to a heart condition back home and was lucky enough to get this fellowship I've been hell bent on cracking this case."
Milo nodded. Thinking back to when he and Matt met at the coffee house back in late June. Matt had just come to town and approached Milo with the situation. He told Milo that he knew his connection to Sonny Corinthos and to not fret that he wasn't an enemy but that Milo's inside knowledge on the world of organized crime would be a major asset to the cause and a partnership was formed.
"Dr. Hunter," Leyla's voice spoke from the doorway causing Matt ho cough.
"Well I'll send someone to set that leg of yours shortly," he said standing up looking at Leyla as he left.
"Well you and Dr. Hunter sure were deep into something."
Milo just nodded as Leyla smiled.
"Leyla how is Claire."
"A bit shaken up but I think she's fine."
"Good."
--
Maxie heard a knock on her door and immediately spotted the young nurse.
"Nadine Matt isn't here."
"I know that."
"Then why are you here come to ask me about how my date went last night."
Nadine thought quick on her feet and nodded.
"Yea, so how was it with Spinelli."
"Simply amazing, we're together now."
"Together, together."
Maxie nodded.
"Why, don't tell me you liked him too, I mean I thought you liked Matt."
Nadine just nodded.
"Speaking of Matt I let him borrow something of mine."
"What kind of something," Maxie asked intrigued.
"Notes from a patient we've been treating, he said it was in his room."
"Well then where did he say it was I'll get it."
Just then the phone ring as Maxie looked at Nadine.
"Hold that thought."
Picking up the phone her face curled into a grin as her tone changed.
"Hi Spin," as she began to chat with her boyfriend she motioned for Nadine to head up the stairs into her late sisters room that was now occupied by Matt Hunter.
--
Leyla had since left his room and for that he was grateful as there was a knock on his door. Looking up he say Claire still clad in her scrubs standing in the doorway looking nervously.
"Is this a bad time."
"No it's not, come in."
Claire smiled and looked at Milo taking a deep breath.
"I'm sorry that I shocked you like that earlier."
Claire shook her head.
"It's an occupational hazard though Milo isn't it."
"You heard huh."
"That you work for the..." she paused not being able to get the M word out of her head, "yea...Leyla told me."
"I'm sorry you had to find out that way."
"I-it's fine really..."
"So I guess this is you breaking up with me because my life it too dangerous right."
"Yes...no...I don't know I mean you seem like a great guy I just don't know if I can..."
"I understand...we'll always have Jakes though."
Claire laughed and nodded thinking of the past evening, the most perfect night in her life as Matt peaked his head in the room.
"Their ready for you."
"Bye," Claire mouthed as Matt got Milo ready to get his cast put on.
--
"I wish that we could do something tonight...DVDs hmm...that could work...seven I like that..."
Maxie was on the phone talking to Spinelli now as Nadine was in Matt's room. It was defiantly messier then it had been the first time she snooped and why shouldn't it be, it was now more lived in. She didn't know what she was actually searching for, just something to pin him to the drug dealings she supposed. A manifesto, a check...something, anything. It was then she saw a manila envelope on the cluttered wooden desk in the corner.
"Jackpot," she said picking up the envelope and opening it up reading its contents as her jaw dropped.
"Oh my god," she said.
