Total Eclipse of the Heart

A week had passed and for everyone it seemed to be one of the more peaceful weeks for the most of it.

For Spinelli he watched front row as Jason in true Stone Cold fashion was able to get the Russians out of town and shockingly for the most part not in body bags which to the young hacker was a pleasant first and a hopeful sign that good things were to come.

Speaking of good things his social life seemed to be better then ever as not only was he now official with Maxie but was also included in a family dinner with her father the commissioner who was beginning to warm up to the fact that he was dating his daughter.

"You bring out the best in her," Mac had told him which made him smile.

As for the others involved in the latest string of adventures well Claire was finally home in her apartment though still wheel chair bound though she was defiantly loving the fact that she didn't have to breathe in the sterile hospital scents anymore.

Milo when not working at his post for the organization was speeding time with the young blonde. And speaking of young blondes well Nadine and Matt were now officially a couple as were Lucas and Kyle.

Love was defiantly in the autumn air in Port Charles and the residents planed to savor every moment of it.

--

On this early October afternoon Maxie was busy toiling away at Crimson though she really didn't know why she bothered anymore.

Kate after taking a short sabbatical in the islands was singing Clarisse's praises when it was Maxie who had been busting her buns day in and day out on the magazine on top of planning Robin's wedding.

She let out a sigh thinking at least Kate was giving her more responsibility and with Spinelli's willing assistance she was going to be writing her first piece for Crimson's web-zine.

The elevator opened as a smile crossed her lips hoping it was her partner in crime. Tilting her head to see who entered however her lips quickly turned into a pout.

"Matt make it fast, I can't talk now I'm working."

Matt looked over at the petite blonde in her designer duds and simply rolled his eyes.

"Maxie, I don't care that Joe broke up with Taylor it's a family emergency."

The young woman rolled her eyes letting out a small laugh.

"How do you know about Joe and Taylor," she retorted back.

"Well Nadine and I were on the couch last night and Entertainment Tonight was on and...."

"Whatever, I don't want to hear about your sex life Matt so what is the emergency."

--

Across town Milo was sitting on the couch of Claire's apartment.

"So from one set of four walls to another, I'm so sorry."

Claire let out a pout. She was sick of hearing Milo wallow in self pity and so she leaned over and kissed his cheek.

"You're forgiven a thousand times over."

"I still don't know what to do to make it up to you...."

She gently placed her newly painted violet nails on his lips.

"Shhh Milo, you don't have to do anything."

"Well I was thinking about doing something."

Claire let out a breath.

"What do you want to do?"

"I've said this before and I'm saying it again, I want to get out while I still can. I mean I have a High School degree and special skills."

Winking as he said the latter part Claire couldn't help but chuckle knowing what the skills were.

"Anyways I was thinking of getting my PI license and going into business with Spinelli."

"So you've told me before."

"Yes, well as you know things change..."

Claire knew exactly what he met as she herself went from and art major to going to med school to being a medical intern to now being paralyzed and even though time was on her side and she would walk again she really was sick of the hospital and had no clue of her own future.

"So, what changed Milo?"

He grinned.

"Well I talked to Mac and in November when the new class starts up at the Police Academy..."

"No."

"Milo grinned."

"Yes,"

Claire let out a squeal as she leaned over to kiss him.

Lucas was pleased that he decided to make Port Charles his home again especially after his best friend and cousin Georgie had died and his friends Dillon and Brook where off who knew where making their dreams come true.

He had a family in this town and now a new boyfriend in Kyle. However what pleased him the most was the new friendships he was able to strike up. None as interesting though as the one with his cousin's boyfriend.

The two young men were at of all places the mall, Wyndoms department store to be more accurate.

"So you mean to tell me you and Maxie were trapped in the sewers for hours."

Spinelli let out a small laugh as he nodded.

He was in the midst of entertaining Lucas with tales of his and Maxie's 'courtship' as he so adequately called it.

"And Maxie didn't kill you, surprising."

"Well she did complain about me ruing her heels."

"It always comes back to shoes with her."

He nodded in agreement.

"That it does, anyway that was the night we along with the princely one Nikolas Cassadine solved the first of what would amount too many, cases together."

"I still can't believe Diego killed Georgie."

Spinelli nodded.

"I know what you mean, the murderous one was supposed to be dead, you know it was fair Samantha who killed him the first time while he was en route to kill the Jackal."

"Seriously."

Spinelli nodded.

"That is defiantly not the Diego I knew who back when I was confused..well..we shared affections for the same girl."

Spinelli nodded as he picked up a suit jacket from one of the racks from the men's department.

"What about this one."

Lucas shook his head.

"I don't know about the Navy...I'd say go for classic Black."

--

"Well as you know Patrick asked me to be the Best Man."

"And I'm the Maid of Honor...your point, this is old news."

He grinned knowing this.

"I know, anyway I just wanted to make sure their was no bad blood between us, for Robin and Patrick's sake."

Maxie smiled thinking that Nadine must be doing a number on his conscience.

"What are you grinning about Jones."

"You."

"What about me."

"I don't know...maybe you suffered more then smoke inhalation or something but there is something different about you and I can't place it."

He smiled back at her with his killer smile that would have driven any other girl mad.

"I'm just glad to be finally getting back to work."

Maxie nodded.

"Sure it is."

She knew in fact that this was partly true however part was due to a certain blonde nurse who melted his icy heart.

--

They had broken out of their make out session and Milo was now in the kitchen placing an order at a new take out sushi place that opened in town when their was a knock on the door.

"Man that was fast," Milo said as he made his way to the door.

Opening it he spotted Kyle holding a Barnes and Nobel bag.

"You got it didn't you," Claire said from her spot on the couch.

Kyle nodded as he handed her the hard backed book.

Milo looked at it and rolled her eyes.

'Maxie's been busy with Crimson and the Wedding she hasn't finished it yet."

The two men simply chuckled wondering what it was with women and Vampires though not saying anything about it.

"Want a drink," Milo said to Kyle instead motioning to the kitchen area which the male resident once shared with the blonde.

"Don't mind if I do," Kyle said opening up the fridge and pulling out a bottle of water.

--

At the hospital Nadine was at the hub humming a chirpy tune.

"Someone is in a pleasant mood," Leyla Mir said in her soft accent as she approached her friend.

Nadine simply smiled.

"It's cause Dr. Hunter is coming back tonight to work isn't it."

Nadine simply nodded.

"You mean to tell me you're not tired of him since you moved in with him."

Nadine shook her head.

"Quite the opposite in fact."

She let out a sigh.

"It's funny Leyla; I couldn't stand the man when he first came into this hospital, acting like gods gift to medicine."

Leyla nodded thinking about all of that.

"And the way he talked to Mr. Jackal when he was here as a patient, some bed side manner."

"And now we're all friends, it's funny how life can go sometimes."

'Hysterical," Leyla replied checking off her chart as she watched Matt entering the hospital now through the elevators and turn towards the locker rooms, but not before smiling and waving across the lobby at Nadine. "Why are all the men in this town so...unavailable?"

Nadine gave her a questioning look.

"What do you mean?"

"Well you have Dr. Hunter, Mr. Jackal has finally won over Maxie, and even the new girl Claire has something utterly romantic going on with Mr. Giambetti. My mom was right; I'm going to die an old maid."

"Since when did you care about what your mother said?"

Leyla shrugged not really knowing. However love was in the air and she hoped that she could eventually find some of her own.

TBC

Ok so I hoped you liked this update. First I want to state that I will not be going into a sub plot with Leyla getting a man and in fact I plan on only having two or three more chapters filling in gaps between this chapter which is early October and the SCRUBS wedding which for story purposes is on the 30th and not the 31st . That being said I am open to suggestions for scenes you'd like to see between the eight principle characters leading up to the big day as well as to remind me as to any loose ends I need to tie up as it seems like forever that I've been working on this. Also Please no flames about the M&M scenes I saw new medianets and well after that the moment just wrote itself and I created this chapter around it...

Anyway thanks for writing and sticking by me.
