Total Eclipse of the Heart
Ok this time around I'm continuing some ideas from the last chapter. I still don't know if there will be more to Kyle/Lucas's storyline as they weren't a front burner plot to begin with. This chapter will mostly be about Spixie and Madine with some Claire/Milo as well....again if there is a loose end you feel needs tying up let me know.
The day seemed to press on as Milo wheeled Claire into Kelly's after her session at the hospital.
"So," he said as he sat down and gave the High School student working the counter his order, "when were you going to tell me you could walk again."
"I wanted to surprise you."
"Well I am surprised Claire Bear," he said reaching out and gently brushing her cheek with his palm.
Kissing his hand she let out a bit of a smile.
"What."
She shrugged.
"You're not mad at me."
"Do I sound mad?"
She shook her head not taking his hands into hers.
"It's just I wanted to wait till I was off these stupid crutches, wait till I could be able to dance with you."
He felt swoony at her gesture as an idea swept his head.
--
There were times she wished that she didn't cohabitate with him however her temporary relocation became permanent and she sat in Robins old room turned guest room and began to fix herself up.
Looking at her reflection she smiled thinking she was a low maintenance kind of girl.
She had decided on a simple denim skirt and a pale blue peasant blouse as she figured that Matt Hunter was probably just taking her to Jakes.
Heading down the stairs she spotted him dressed in a pair of dress pants and a nice shirt.
"You look nice."
He looked over to her and a half smile crossed his face.
"What."
Matt just shook his head as he looked her over wondering how he could be so lucky.
"Nothing."
She just smiled and took his hand as he led her toward his car.
--
Maxie eyed her boyfriend and ran a hand through his hair.
"Jake's, I thought you wanted to take me out."
"This is out, besides I thought you could use a break from the four walls of the Metro Court and well Kelly's and the Coffee House are just too played out."
Maxie let out a small chuckle as Spinelli led her to a table and pulled out her chair.
"Hey there Playa," Coleman said making his way toward the couple.
Spinelli let out a smiled as he mouthed a hi to the owner of the bar.
"So are you here for business," he paused looking to the blonde, "or Pleasure."
Looking to Maxie then back to the older man he shrugged.
"Perhaps a bit of both."
Coleman gave him thumbs up.
"So, Orange Soda or..."
He stopped to ponder for a moment. He doubted that Jake's would be a place that would serve a fine wine, or even boxed wine for that matter.
"Could you chase it with a dash or Rum please and thank you?"
"Living on the edge I see."
"What can I say, just call the Jackal Mr. Dangerous."
Coleman let out a smile as Maxie placed her order.
As soon as he walked away Maxie smirked.
"So, Mr. Dangerous, care for a dance before the drinks come."
"Don't mind if I do."
--
"Do you want to dance here, now?"
Milo nodded.
"Why not."
"I'll tell you why not, or rather show you...do you see the pounds of metal under my but."
Milo simply laughed as he headed over to her and turned her chair to face him before reaching for her hands.
"Are you nuts?"
"Claire Simpson, do you trust me."
"Excuse me."
"I said do you trust me."
She paused for a moments thinking back to all the guys she had been with in the past, and there were a lot. Milo was however not like any of these guys and that wasn't a bad thing.
Letting out a half smiled she let out a nod as she let him pull her to a standing position and held her tightly as he swayed her to the rhythm of the jukebox.
-
They entered the bar and Matt gave Nadine an apologetic look.
"Don't say anything, it's the best I could do on short notice."
She smiled giving him a kiss on his cheek as she spotted Spinelli and Maxie dancing together on the other side of the bar.
She wondered what Matt was thinking, wondered if despite the fact that she was dating him and Maxie was with Spinelli and well everything that had happened in recent months that the young doctor still held feelings for the commissioner's daughter.
"You're wondering if I'm jealous," Matt said.
Nadine was silent.
"Well truth is...no, in fact the only blonde I see in the bar is you."
"You're a charmer Hunter."
He nodded as he pulled her into a kiss looking at all the full tables and leading her over to the bar to order drinks.
-
Spinelli and Maxie finished the dance and made their way to where Matt and Nadine were seated at the bar.
"Hey guys, so great minds think alike," Spinelli said to the young nurse who held a bottle of beer in her hand.
The blonde smiled and shook her head.
"Jake's wasn't my idea Spinelli it was Matt's, I only said we needed to go on a real date."
Spinelli just nodded.
"Well then, that's cool too, anyways Maximista and I have a table and..."
Matt and Maxie's eyes bore into the young hacker wondering what he was up to.
Nadine simply smiled taking Matt's hand.
"We'd love to."
Maxie placed her hands on her hips and pulled Spinelli to the side.
"Spin what do you think your doing."
"Well the Nobel Nurse and the Mouthy Medic need a place to sit."
Matt smiled a bit at this nickname as it seemed so far to be the nicest sounding one bestowed upon him.
"There is the bar."
"Maximista...."
The blonde looked into his puppy dog eyes and was instantly broken.
"Fine but you and Nadine need to sit between me and Matt."
"Deal," Spinelli said leading the other couple to the table.
--
Claire felt safe in Milo's strong arms as they continued to move around the small diner. Sure this wasn't the dance she imagined they would share but it was better then that, more romantic.
"Claire," a voice spoke as Milo almost lost his grip on the blonde before turning to the man in the doorway.
Looking over at her friend still dressed in scrubs, on a coffee brake a smile crossed her face.
"Hey Kyle."
"So you caved and told him I see."
"Not exactly."
Kyle gave a curious look to the blonde.
"I caught her in the act," Milo said.
"Ah," Kyle said giving them another smile and thumbs up as he grabbed a coffee from Mike and headed back out the door causing Milo and Claire to laugh.
"So Claire, what are your plans for the rest of the evening."
"None, you."
"Well, Max is doing business and I have the place to myself."
"Is it chair accessible?"
Milo nodded knowing that even if it wasn't he'd simply carry her around all night so that she could be with him.
"It's a date."
Picking her up he carried her to her chair kissing her head.
"I'll tell Mike to make it to go."
Claire nodded and watched her man head to the counter.
--
They had been sitting down together for a few minutes now and yet silence consumed them.
"So," Nadine said, "How are things at Crimson coming Maxie."
Maxie let out a smile.
"On most days' they are good though Kate is still bitter over calling the wedding off."
"Did she ever say why?"
"No, but I mean with her whole I love him, I love him not attitude she has a marriage to Sonny would never work, plus it would drag down our numbers having the latest Mrs. Corinthos as it's EIC."
Nadine simply nodded as Spinelli smiled.
"Speaking of weddings...."
Matt stood up eyeing the free pool table.
"Who wants to play pool?"
Nadine stood up.
"It's so on Hunter."
Maxie looked at the other blonde and smiled.
"Let's make it more interesting, boys verses girls."
Matt grinned.
"Prepare to go down princess."
Maxie simply laughed thinking of the many pool games she played at the penthouse and how she would beat Spinelli every time.
Spinelli squirmed as he thought of the same thing.
--
Arriving at Milo's apartment he wheeled the chair toward his couch and watched as she slid onto it before moving her chair away.
They planed to eat dinner and relax watching movies however dinner was the farthest thing from either of their minds.
Sitting down next to her Milo smiled and Claire did too as she spontaneously reached over and began to unbutton Milo's shirt.
He pulled back hesitantly.
"Can you," he whispered as she shook her head.
"It wouldn't be advised but...well."
Just one look into her eyes and he knew what she wanted as he aloud her to remove his shirt and proceeded to lie down for the moment allowing her to lie down next to him and simply cuddle.
--
"Say it Matt, girls rule and guys drool."
Watching Maxie sink the eight ball he let out a sigh and mumbled it.
"Louder, so the rest of the bar can hear."
"Girls Rule and Guys Drool," Matt shouted as Spinelli headed to the bar to buy a round of drinks.
"So Matt," Maxie said as they sat down at the table a few moments later, "do you care about any of my plans for your brothers wedding."
"It's October 30th, Queen of Angles at seven, I need to be there at least an hour before with a tux to give my brother a pep talk and stand by him."
Maxie just nodded.
"Oh, that reminds me, Coleman."
The bartender made his way toward the table.
"You called."
Matt smiled and looked at the bartender.
"Is it too late to reserve this place for the 29th, as best man it is my duty to throw a raging bachelor party for my brother?"
Coleman grinned.
"It's never too late for a party. Anyway I have connections if you need to hire...you know."
"Stripers," Spinelli said matter of factly as all eyes were on him.
Coleman nodded.
"Yea, strippers."
Spinelli's face flushed as even though he once tried to pick up a high end call girl at that very bar the idea of woman shredding clothes spontaneously for a living made him feel uncomfortable.
"It'll be fun man," Matt said, "anyway I was wondering as an olive branch if you would like to help me."
"It would be the Jackal's pleasure."

TBC
Ok so I'm on the fence on weather the next chapter should be filler then the parties then the wedding chapter or if I should skip to the parties. I'll let the muse suss it out.
